i am obsessed with this moment from what we left behind. ira steven behr is basically like, "yeah so were they buddies? ^w^" and andrew robinson in a completely deadpan, 100% serious tone just says "they fucked." he doesn't hesitate, he doesn't miss a beat. he believes in garashir with his heart and soul and that is just so incredibly awesome

Finally got around to watching “What we left behind.” I’m happy Behr admitted that Garak should have been gay and that it “would have made Garak and Bashir’s relationship more interesting.” However. Their pitch for a season 8 of DS9…
I guess my biggest complaints have to do with Julian. Julian/Ezri was so rushed and forced (not to mention Garak has been there the whole time.) No hate to the Jezri shippers, you have your work cut out for you writing fanfic where that relationship could happen naturally. Season 8 would include Ezri and Julian still being together, which I just don’t like and don’t think is right for either character.
Secondly, they wanted Julian to still be part of Section 31! Their argument for Julian and ezri being together was “well we want some of the characters to still be happy lol.” But then he’s part of Section 31 and betraying his friends and Ezri? Even if he’s a double agent and just staying in 31 to keep tabs on them, that’s not a happy situation for him. I assume he would be keeping that from Ezri, or she does know about it and I would imagine that is a massive strain on the relationship. It’s like the writers forgot they had a couple they could focus on- the O’brien’s!
Also, why is Ezri a captain? She was a counselor. Personally, I always imagined her working with Trill, since her joining with Dax was so unprecedented and revealed the truth about how many Trill are actually compatible with the symbionts. Maybe she could be an ambassador of sorts? Even Ezri still being a counselor is fine- it’s a necessary job!
Still though, I did appreciate the doc overall. I was surprised by how emotional I was. There were parts of season 8 I was interested in- Captain Nog (RIP), crewman Molly O’Brien, Jake and his little brother, High Priestess Kira, Emissary Sisko coming back.

The major takeaway that I got from the "What We Left Behind" documentary is that Ira Steven Behr has become just as invested in the myth of himself as a legendary iconoclast as Gene Roddenberry was once invested in the myth of himself as a utopian visionary.

What We Left Behind Posters for Sale
So because I work at a movie theater and am the only Trekkie there, when we played the Ds9 doc, the manager let me take home all of the extra posters, but I never knew what to do with them- until now! I'm selling them on eBay for $5 each and because I, a white person, feel weird profiting off of art for a ship named after Emmett Till, all the money will be going to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund! There's 36 available and they're all two sided, with one side featuring Ira Steven Behr and the station and the other featuring art for the USS Emmett Till- Ezri's ship once she becomes captain in the novels!
