So, this is what Shadow saw when that weird explosion wave hit him and. I have questions
That's clearly Sonic running around the hamster ball in New Yoke, and we know that's when Shadow first contacted him from the void, but. that definitely hadn't happened yet.
I think we can rule out Shadow having traveled forward in time during the blast, since he wouldn't have any reason to be telling Sonic that "everything's broken" at this point, so I'm working under the assumption that this is more of a vision of the future than anything else.
And we can gain a surprising amount of info from this vision, actually. For starters, Shadow doesn't see any of Sonic's surroundings, just a red glow; probably from that world's shard. So I don't think Shadow can tell what Sonic's doing or where he is unless he's running fast enough to clip out of bounds, so to speak
(Which... does explain why he told Sonic to keep running when there was a wall right in front of him. Pretty sure he didn't know it was there)
So uh. what the heck was in that speed amplifier

oh, yeah, another thing i noticed that was odd about s5 in comparison to earlier seasons was how much they relied on like. not the history of the doctor, exactly, but the image of that history. whether from little easter eggs of the first doctor’s picture popping up everywhere to i think the two(?) times in the season we get a montage of past doctors. and i honestly can’t remember anything like that happening earlier (with the exception of the time crash short, which felt more substantial to me and was also like. 7 straight minutes of david tennant being allowed to fangirl.)
and i say ‘the image’ because hell knows the RTD era was pulling from doctor who past left, right, and center, but it rarely felt like a moment of ‘look at this old thing, you remember old thing? old thing was cool and so are we for continuing it.’ and more like ‘here’s a species/character/etc from classic who. and here’s how they’ve changed and fit into the new world we’ve built for the show.’
I guess, the difference here for me is that. i haven’t watched classic who. s5 shows me a slideshow of doctors and to me, those are the guys i once ranked by how sexy i think they are. and not much else. i don’t have an emotional connection to an image. but take, say, school reunion? an episode that was my favorite even back when i was a kid specifically because i adored sarah jane? i had no idea who she was then, i only just figured out a little bit ago which doctor she traveled with, and exclusively all i’ve watched of her is that episode in s2 and the sarah jane adventures. and yet, that episode, without the context there for me, managed to make sense to me. i’m sure it was probably even more impactful to fans of sarah jane from classic who, but it didn’t lose its impact without that knowledge.
so, that’s a shift. i don’t want to say it’s a negative one, exactly, because maybe people who have seen classic who like these references and i’m missing something. but, to me, it feels a little more shallow.

so many of you talk about the cruel adults in your childhood that negatively effected you and caused lifelong insecurity yet you're still perfectly fine with being that mean stranger to any kid that has the misfortune of existing around you and thats just really gross !!!

Did you guys know that honeybees love the color white? It's true, that's why beekeeper suits are white, because the darker the color the more aggressive the bees are to it! Honeybees are very gentle and industrious insects who live in well-ordered homes and busy themselves with making delicious candy. They're never aggressive unless you disturb their hive or try to kill them. I wonder if we can, though selective breeding, domesticate honeybees to the point that they refuse to sting us?
Anyways, in this essay I will explain why the importation of violent african honeybees are a plot by the Rothschilds to

mission debriefing after the Prisoner's Dilemma that just turns into a debate between Lance and Hunk as to which haunted ghost ship was scarier- the Altean one or the Galra one.
Hunk: See, I can see the argument for the Altean ship being scarier. There were actual corpses on that one, so that's already really freaky. But it was also smaller, you know? And there wasn't an actual monster on it, just like. metaphorical monsters. Although it was pretty freaky seeing an Altean ship so dark. Galra ships are always dark so that aspect didn't actually bother me that much. On the other hand, the Galra ship also had a bunch of destroyed sentries floating around and was just. so big. You see what I'm saying?

Sorry-not-sorry I'm back on my normal 'Kevin and Argit were so small' bullshittery.
Because they fucking were. Kevin was twelve when Servantis tossed everybody, and Argit couldn't have been far off. They were middle school aged. 'Puberty would be starting about now if we weren't wandering the Null Void and therefor likely not eating near enough' aged.
A pair of children, with minimal education, no paperwork, no homes, no guardians. Wandering the Null Void and then the Milky Way, on their own. One a prime target for the slave trade, both prime targets for adults looking to take advantage of them (*coughcoughOttocoughcough*). With only as much security as they could provide themselves and each other. Only able to rely on themselves for the basic necessities of life.
And then this show has the audacity to try to tell me that they turned to crime due to poor morality. That they're money focused because they're just naturally greedy. That they don't trust people and look out for themselves because they're bad people that either will always be bad people or will only improve because of the power of Tennysons.
What options were there for them? What jobs are there in the Null Void? What jobs are there in the galaxy that'll hire barely-teens, if even that, with no paperwork or educations, that wouldn't ruin them as badly and pay worse than the crime they already had experience with? Will keep them fed and clothed and sheltered? When one of them already has a criminal record, for violent crimes at that? When there's nobody there to stop even the 'good' adults from taking advantage of them?
The show will sit there and tell you that Kevin's violent crimes were the result of a rough childhood, but he and Argit's non-violent ones? Totally on them, no excuse, wholly a matter of greed and not giving a shit about other people. Fucking bullshit. This is a pair of kids who had to grow up way too fast, up against an existence that saw at least one of them as easy profit, with nothing but themselves and each other, and no opportunities. They're a pair of traumatized kids who grabbed the opportunities available to them with both hands and were molded by the problems they faced.
Of course they're money-focused, unlike the Tennysons they don't and haven't had anybody making sure they had enough to get by. They've had to support themselves and live with the constant worry that something is going to go pear-shaped and they'll have nothing.
They spent years with anybody and everybody being a potential threat (even between the two of them, Argit's noting that Kevin's snapping while he worked for the Rooters was the worst he'd seen 'before or since' makes it quite clear he's seen him on and passed the edge at least as much if not more than we have), of course they're going to be slow to trust, quick to toss people aside, and unwilling to help their enemies without some sort of payout, they've been burned before.
Just- Damnit these two come from some shitty fucking situations, the effects they had on them are obvious if you bother to fucking look, and they both deserved better than the series just going "oh yeah they're assholes what do you expect they're criminals" and moving the fuck on. Like, for fuck's sake at least acknowledge that they're like this because life was a fucking lead pipe to the teeth to them! We know Kevin's situation was shit even before they met, we got to see it, but even if Argit had a perfectly good life beforehand (unlikely) the earliest we see him is being held captive for illegal experimentation purposes by law enforcement! These two have been through shit! At least acknowledge it!
Fuck, they could've replaced Color of Monkey with that, hitting on the differences between how Kevin and Argit adapted to their circumstances, give us upfront the Tennysons being a safety net that let Kevin heal (rather than just 'oh the Tennysons taught him morals because they're the Good People') while Argit's issues and lack of security kept him stagnant. It would go better with what we see of him over the course of OV leading up to the Rooters arc, and what we're shown in the Rooters arc. Give us him still being far from great or on the up-and-up but improving with the stability that comes with his 'hero' status, a repairing relationship with Kevin after that arc, and a flourishing, above-board business. Rather than backpedaling on any good the writers had thrown at him like they'd realized they were coming up against a cliff.
Shit that makes you want to get the writers by the shoulders and shake them mercilessly.

i've been enjoying punk hazard so much compared to fishman island (sanji and brook continuing to be awful about nami's body aside) but what on earth is going on now in this fight with zoro, tashigi, and monet about zoro not respecting women??? literally since when has this ever been established as being one of zoro's character traits??? like yes he's weird sometimes about tashigi because she reminds him of kuina, but this whole zoro doesn't respect women enough to finish the fight bullshit??? oda you don't have to have an excuse for him to let tashigi fight you could just let her fight and it wouldn't be an issue?????

It hurts to admit but I think Charles needs to jump before he gets pushed out of Ferrari. I know there isn't a team on the grid that's a clear upgrade on Ferrari (aside from Red Bull) but the vibes are so rancid right now and the narrative is so out of control that I really do think he needs to get out.
🫱🏻🫲🏻 Definitely agree about the last part, somehow this year feels even more rancid to me than last year. They fucked it but at least they fell from the top and at least for a while Charles had something tangible to fight for. This year I'm just kind of looking forward to the season running its course, which sucks, because the autumn stretch is usually one of my favourite parts of the season.
The reverse-Seb, Charles to Red Bull as Max's replacement fantasy is always so indulgent 😭
Unfortunately (besides everything you've mentioned, which is that on paper at least there is no alternative for him at the moment, nothing that would count as a lateral or upwards move) while he sure seems to be on the same trajectory as Seb, right now I think it's in the sense of possibly hurtling towards a bitter ending faster than any of us could've anticipated. Like Seb, I think he'll show a willingness to stay even after the team decides he's past his expiration date and they're already looking to replace him with the next new shiny thing. It seems it's always the ones with the most heart and passion for the team, who see it as something more than just another career stepping stone, that get screwed in the worst way at the end. 😵💫
I mean, if everything that's happened up to this point—the lack of clear hierarchy with a championship on the line, the strategy mess, the mistakes, the wonky car development, the internal politicking—hasn't pushed him to the edge, then I'm not sure what will be that straw that break's the camel's back. As exciting as the rumours of him being a hot commodity and being reached out to by representatives from other teams are/were, I think at this moment in time at least, he doesn't envision his future anywhere other than at Ferrari. Which, the commitment is admirable, but the long-term prospect and the quiet but persistent time pressure (younger talents coming in, with every passing year there's more scrutiny and less leeway, etc.)... gotta say, right now, it's looking bleak.
Obviously no one can accurate predict the future, especially in a sport like F1, where sometimes everything is stable and then suddenly she's delivering a wild silly season and it feels like all the doors of opportunity have swung wide open. A whole bunch of contracts are expiring at the end of next year, some in 2025... there will surely be a scramble to overhaul lineups before the next regulation cycle comes into effect in 2026. We might see some surprises yet, although in my heart of hearts I feel like Charles won't be one of them.
And it's always like, "oh you're a fake fan for even thinking about this." There's nothing wrong with having a discussion about all the possibilities while acknowledging what Charles is like and where his heart lies. More than anything I want to see him succeed and achieve that ultimate goal at Ferrari, with Ferrari. I don't want him see him chased out of the team and community he's been a loyal, dedicated member of since he was still arguably a kid. But at the same time I think it would be a waste of his immense talent and frankly just sad if his career fizzled out and he was little more than a footnote in the history of the sport despite all the promise and all the hype and all those moments of motorsport magic that I know he can and has delivered. Ferrari getting it together and placing him at the heart of their project—not just through their words but visibly, through their actions, and not just as a one-off—is and always has been my number one scenario. But this is a team that hasn't been able to reach the highest heights for almost two decades now. It's not unreasonable to speculate and discuss alternatives and contingency plans.
