Angeal and Sephiroth dance to more than words by Extreme (Sephiroth quotes the song at Angeal when he couldn’t figure out how to tell him he’d fallen for him.)

Genesis and Sephiroth dance to Michelle by the Beatles (because this was playing in the café were they first met.)

Genesis and Cloud dance to so this is love from Cinderella (because their second date was interrupted by kiddo witches from the coven in the park who demanded Genesis sing to them. Cloud fell pretty hard.)

Sephiroth and Cloud dance to done for you by Black vail Brides (because the two of them understand the lyrics intimately and it just feels like their song.)

so the 'will you sing at my wedding' abstract idea has become 'there is a date and you have spent £200 on hotels: this wedding is happening, you have to pick a song'.

As anyone who has read any of my fanfiction knows, I listen exclusively to opera, power metal, scifi prog, leonard cohen and sad singer song writers who fantasise about death waaay too much, as well as a LOT of jazz standards. This actually means I have quite a lot of options (thanks to the jazz standards),

But: do YOU know a good song that hits the sweet spot of 'nice song to sing, not too niche, not too weird, that people will have heard of, isn't secretly about everyone dying'. Basically, I already have maybe I'm amazed by paul mccartney on the longlist, but I only know that one because of the OC. But stuff like that. If so pls let me know so I can listen to it and pretend I didn't waste my life.

Hey, Nonnie! Thanks for stopping by and send me this ask. I can definitely see why this song shouldn’t be played as a first dance song at weddings... unless it's an arranged wedding with no love whatsoever.

It baffles me how people can choose such songs. My wedding song was Beauty and The Beast, French version. I know it isn't the most adequate either, but it at least talks about love and not breakup or, you know, being led to wed someone you don't love.

Now I'm curious. Anyone else has wedding songs that are definitely non suitable for a wedding?
