Anyone a Webtoon fan???
I’ve been reading a few Webtoons here and there, and all the art in them is so amazing! I thought I recommend a few BL (boyxboy) ones that I particularly enjoy! (And if anyone has a favourite webtoon of any kind, feel free to put it in the tags!)
Boy Girlfreind
Definitely a popular webtoon, it features two childhood friends, a plan to get one a girlfriend (involving crossdressing and an ‘accidental’ kiss), which leads to a romance a bit different than the one they were striving to get. (Updates Friday)
Race You
Two track team athletes (one of which hates the other), slowly develop feelings for each other as they work towards getting faster runners before Christmas (and there’s a bet involved). (Updates Friday)
Revelation Of Eros
This one is based off a true story, and features a lot of trauma/angst/hurt comfort stuff so if you’re not into that, beware! A Mexican uni student, haunted by his past, makes some new friends as he tries to achieve his dead brother’s dream of being a marine biologist. And maybe, he meets someone who’s a bit more of a friend, too, who helps him through the struggles of his past. (Updates every other Friday)
Boyfriends
A very cute aesthetic in this comic! The mostly soft plotline follows four collage boys as they work through the struggles of their first poly relationship, learning more about each other along the way! The character’s in this comic never actually have mentioned real names, so it's up to the reader to think of what they would be called! (Updates Tuesday)
Vanilla Bliss
This comic is about two high school boys, who finally end up talking after years of classes together when one has to tutor the other in math. Definitely a warm, happy feel to this fic (it's currently in hiatus tho).
Castle Swimmer
A fantasy, underwater setting paired with beautiful colors makes this one of my favorite webtoons! It features a “chosen one” who’s destined to be sacrificed, and a prince who’s the one foretold to kill him. Though the spark of romance might get in the way of those plans… (currently also on hiatus)
If anyone wants recs for other webtoon genres, feel free to ask! If ya read these, plz comment with opinions! (And recs about your fave webtoons are welcome too, I don’t just read BL lol)

looking for webtoon/manhwa recs
i caught up with weak hero and now i'm empty. i love how well developed the characters are and their friendships. gotta love the intense fighting too, of course. i'm kinda torn between starting lookism, study group, omniscient reader, villain to kill or unOrdinary but i'm open to other recs.
help me pick one please?

DID YOU SAY THAT YOU READ WEBTOONS? What uh.... What are your favorites? 👉👈 I'm still trying to wean off reading manga, and the only webtoons I've read are Queen Cecia Wears Knickerbockers and Wayne Family Adventures 😂
Yes, I have read quite a few Webtoons in my day (Why do I sound so old right now?) I have not heard about the Queen Cecia Webtoon, but Wayne Family Adventures is a very good choice, in my totally unbiased opinion. 🤣
If you want more DC Webtoons, then there is Red Hood: Outlaws and there is Zatanna & The Ripper. I haven't caught up with either of them, but if you do love those characters or want to see more from them, I definitely commend checking those out. There was also the Vixen: NYC Webtoon, but unfortunately that one seems to be cancelled now. 🥺
If you're interested in completed Webtoons, then I have a few offerings. I love Siren's Lament, it's a wonderfully complicated Webtoon even if it does hurt my heart sometimes. Gourmet Hound is more of a slice of life with some drama for added effect, but I really did adore that Webtoon that the art was just so cute!! Flow has some incredible worldbuilding mechanics and it's just so tasty. If you want more hero Webtoons, then there's I Don't Want This Kind of Hero, although that one does contain some distressing themes at times so like... beware. And then there is one of my ultimate favorites, which is called Gepetto, which is inspired and based on the Pinocchio tale but more futuristic and dystopian, if that's your fancy.
As for ongoing Webtoons, there's Marry My Husband, which is one of those time travel Webtoons where the MC dies and comes back to life sometime in the past and tries to fix their future. The main story is done, but they do have side stories which have been super cute to read.
There's the ever famous The Remarried Empress, and you'll probably see a lot of references to characters from this Webtoon if you read other Webtoons with a similar premise of- arranged marriage, terrible consort, attractive male lead that is decidedly not the husband, but don't worry he will be.
There is a newer Webtoon called I am the Villain, which is part of the Isekai genre, I would say. It's a beautiful Webtoon, the art is just stunning, and I have no idea what's going on but I'm having a great time.
For more action-based Webtoons, there is Eleceed and if anything happened to my boy Jiwoo I will kill everyone in this room and then myself. And apparently I've done a poor job of that promise because this boy has gone through it, but he still a sweetheart and I love him for that.
There's also the Omniscient Reader, which was actually originally a webnovel called Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, but has since been turned into a manhwa and it's so long but it's so good. I love my sunfish man and ugly squid king (bonus points to anyone who knows that reference).
Here is a Webtoon I have complicated feelings about: Tower of God. This was actually the first ever piece of media I published fanfiction for. It's this really incredible, complex, mind-bending fantasy Webtoon. It is very long, it currently stands at 581 chapters and counting. Unfortunately, the fandom ruined the experience for me, and I pretty much quit all of my fics and that's how I found myself here in the DPxDC fandom! There is an anime for it, currently just Season 1 is out but fingers crossed on Season 2! 🤞But definitely read it first before you watch because the pacing is a little fast for the anime and you don't get that same sweet, sweet tension. I am lucky enough that I do still have one beloved friend that I can talk about Tower of God with, or else I think I probably wouldn't have put it on this list at all.
Eleceed, Omniscient Reader, and Tower of God are all manhwas, which are Korean manga for a shorthand explanation. So if you want to wean yourself off those forms of fiction then... maybe stay away from these because they can suck you in.
Speaking of beloved friend, @midnightenigma recommended to me the Like Wind on a Dry Branch Webtoon, and I am still so upset about it because I will never be the same. 😭 The worldbuilding for this Webtoon is amazing and I adore the slow building romance and plot, and the exploration of grief and just- I am not okay.
I have more things I could recommend but that's... probably as much as I should offer now. lol I hope you find a treat to read from the bunch, though!

webtoons with strong female leads
TRINITY: this one is really underrated and i love it so much, the artstyle scratches the little gay scifi itch in my head and the main character, faith, is hilarious
https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/trinity/list?title_no=717466
Hero Killer: i love this webtoon more than anything, probably my all time favourite rn, its also not romance focused which is amazing, tw: gore
School Bus Graveyard: 100/10, terrifying concept, amazing execution. also i love the graveyard gangs group dynamic
Not even bones: follows nita, an absolute badass, although be prepared to yell at her through the screen as her judgement is not great at times. I love this one, really a good take on morality. tw: gore, child abuse, torture
I'm the grim reaper: main character, scarlet, is a newly dead soul whose just been offered a deal by satan himself, this one gets fairly dark/ existential at times, tw: gore
Here there be dragons: currently one of my favourites. The mc, Bree, is very badass and very exasperated with her new found family group of sassy knights.
Homesick: im crying, someone put me out of my misery im fucking sobbing 20/10, tw: gore
Suitor Armor: follows lucia, a lady in waiting whose secretly a fairy, love lucia so much shes one of my favourite webtoon mcs by far

I don't usually do this but if you read webtoons please go read Tripp. It's on Webtoon website (unfortunately it's not updated on tapas) and it's criminally underrated!
It deserves way more love and affection.
The main character is enby! That's something rare to see.
It's about space it's fun and it's queer. The characters are really lovable the moment you get to know them, I really recommend.

Buuza is incredible.
It's "set in an urban fantasy 90's middle east and central asia," which means the characters use bulky cellphones and can turn into animals.
...I think. The lore is slowwwllly being revealed.
What we do know is that in addition to nationalities, everyone is associated with an animal, and one character actually does turn into a cat. So if someone calls a character a bird, that's because they actually are a bird.
There's also this really neat magic weaving based on astrology, and the politics are really well thought out. This is a fully fleshed out world, and it feels familiar in spite of the fact that we know nothing about it.
It's also a telephone meet cute slowburn, so if you like that sort of thing you're going to be happy. It's on chapter 100 and they haven't met yet. The way it's set up, it's entirely possible they won't for 100 more chapters.
The interim is far from boring, because the main couple is surrounded by other, important, interesting characters.
Tumblr media
Just. Just look at them. If you can't look at them then just know that the creator took the time to create character profiles that include their sexualities and pronouns.
We have your trans guy who works as a sex hotline operator, your gay man who's struggling with certain revelations about his parentage, your lesbian who accidentally stumbles just to the protagonist's life, your your bi genderfluid with a bit of a power complex, your sensitive (in a good way) rich guy who hasn't come out as nonbinary yet, and your rich and powerful lesbian.
And that's just the main characters.
The entire style is very understated--the color palette is mostly earthy tones and the story just gently drops you into the setting immediately before gradually revealing the world around you. It's great. I love it.
There's not too much to warn about yet, but there's some fantasy discrimination involved. Their social hierarchy is based on a lie, and the government is desperately trying to maintain control.
I've already mentioned the surprise parentage and the nature of the hotline, and there's some uncomfortable advances from the main character's boss in more recent chapters.
Nothing is overt or in your face, but it's not just implied either. They make it clear through dialogue and body language. Nothing that drags the comic down--it's very conversational, very believable interactions.
Overall, this is in my top five comics. I'm sad won't be able to pre-order the physical copy.

Hello there again! I saw you had a WEBTOON master list and came by to suggest one of my favorite series to you, Of Dark Lords and Cabages. Have you read it? If not you should it’s super cute 😁
Hello again! :D Oo, I've never heard of it! After looking it up, it looks like something I'd be into! :D I'll give it a shot! :D
My webtoon experience is fairly limited- I've really only read Bastard (eventually gonna start Home Sweet Home), Heartstopper, and Boyfriends, and about 8 ish episodes into Echo; and soon I'm gonna read Lore Olympus and Crumbs! Any recommendations on what I should check out are always appreciated! :D
Thanks for asking!
