you were raised in comparison.
it wasn't always obvious (well. except for the times that it was), but you internalized it young. you had to eat what you didn't like, other people are going hungry, and you should be grateful. you had to suck it up and walk on the twisted ankle, it wasn't broken, you were just being a baby. you were never actually suffering, people obviously had it worse than you did.
you had a roof over your head - imagine! with the way you behaved, with how you talked back to your parents? you're lucky they didn't kick you out on your ass. they had friends who had to deal with that. hell, you have friends who had to deal with that. and how dare you imply your father isn't there for you - just because he doesn't ever actually talk to you and just because he's completely emotionally checked out of your life doesn't mean you're not fucking lucky. think about your cousins, who don't even get to speak to their dad. so what if yours has a mean streak; is aggressive and rude. at least you have a father to be rude to you.
you really think you're hurting? you were raised in a home! you had access to clean water! you never so much as came close to experiencing a real problem. sure, okay. you have this "mental illness" thing, but teenagers are always depressed, right. it's a phase, you'll move on with your life.
what do you mean you feel burnt out at work. what do you mean you mean you never "formed healthy coping mechanisms?" we raised you better than that. you were supposed to just shoulder through things. to hold yourself to high expectations. "burning out" is for people with real jobs and real stress. burnout is for people who have sick kids and people who have high-paying jobs and people who are actually experiencing something difficult. recently you almost cried because you couldn't find your fucking car keys. you just have lost your sense of gratitude, and honestly, we're kind of hurt. we tell you we love you, isn't that enough? if you want us to stick around, you need to be better about proving it. you need to shut up about how your mental health is ruined.
it could be worse! what if you were actually experiencing executive dysfunction. if you were really actually sick, would you even be able to look at things on the internet about it? you just spend too much time on webMD. you just like to freak yourself out and feel like you belong to something. you just like playing the victim. this is always how you have been - you've always been so fucking dramatic. you have no idea how good you have it - you're too fucking sensitive.
you were like, maybe too good of a kid. unwilling to make a real fuss. and the whole time - the little points, the little validations - they went unnoticed. it isn't that you were looking for love, specifically - more like you'd just wanted any one person to actually listen. that was all you'd really need. you just needed to be witnessed. it wasn't that you couldn't withstand the burden, but you did want to know that anyone was watching. these days, you are so accustomed to the idea of comparison - you don't even think you belong in your own communities. someone always fits better than you do. you're always the outlier. they made these places safe, and then you go in, and you are just not... quite the same way that would actually-fit.
you watch the little white ocean of your numbness lap at your ankles. the tide has been coming in for a while, you need to do something about it. what you want to do is take a nap. what you want to do is develop some kind of time machine - it's not like you want your life to stop, not completely, but it would really nice if you could just get everything to freeze, just for a little while, just until you're finished resting. but at least you're not the worst you've been. at least you have anything. you're so fucking lucky. do you have any concept of the amount of global suffering?
a little ant dies at the side of your kitchen sink. you look at its strange chitinous body and think - if you could just somehow convince yourself it is enough, it will finally be enough and you can be happy. no changes will have to be made. you just need to remember what you could lose. what is still precious to you.
you can't stop staring at the ant. you could be an ant instead of a person, that is how lucky you are. it's just - you didn't know the name of the ant, did you. it's just - ants spend their whole life working, and never complain. never pull the car over to weep.
it's just - when it died, it curled up into a tight little ball.
something kind of uncomfortable: you do that when you sleep.
#writeblr#warm up#my dad was actively doing bad shit to us and we STILL were told we were lucky . and to a point i do think im lucky#i just think also there's somethin to be said about like. how about we stop using comparison to dismiss ppls individual struggles#yes there are people who have no perspective. for the reference tho having perspective actually made me really unwilling to get help#for what was a serious and debilitating mental health issue. bc i thought i didnt DESERVE IT#and i would rather have 600 ppl who aren't THAT bad get help and get heard and get seen#than make any 1 kid. do the math that i did: look at the world that is dying and the people who are hurting and say#''oh. okay. others have it worse. they are probably better people than i am. i am being unreasonable. i cannot ask for help#i am not good. i am taking too much space. i am not worth saving.''#bc our WHOLE lives we are taught a scarcity mindset - that you can 'steal' from someone. so that instead of changing a system that doesn't#actually offer fair support to everyone#we put the impetus on the individual to just... demand less.#and here's something - there are probably ppl who think i DIDNT deserve to get help#bc i DID have it better than other people#and something about that is ... so sickening. bc i think all of us in some way at some point WILL need help.#we were supposed to make communities. we were supposed to offer our hands. we were supposed to raise the barn#instead we said: it could be worse. now handle it yourself

Top Ten Reasons Why Regulation Businesses Must evaluate Discerning Legal Freelancing
In the last fraction of 2008 America deals with economic problems never imagined even a few a few months ago. How will businesses manage and survive the constraints on credit, demand and even growth? How does the particular economical downturn impact attorneys together with law firms which service the business community? It is an evident truth that businesses can only look at modifying two earnings streams, income and expenses, in order to maximize profitability. In the event earnings can be down in addition to definitely not anticipated to increase substantially around the near term, clients of law firms can take typically the hatchet to expenses so as to survive. Legal fees will be underneath extreme scrutiny. Legal outsourced workers, while still a nascent industry, is gaining impetus, being considered in even more corporate boardrooms. As the pressures to be able to outsource build up, attorneys wonder whether these people should embrace outsourcing legal work offshore or even withstand that. In the deal with of international economic troubles coupled with the improving reduction of American job opportunities the reason why would a Circumstance. T. law firm desire to actually consider legitimate outsourcing? Is there valid motives why targeted legal outsourcing techniques should be considered by every U. S. regulation organization? Several weeks before I gotten an e-mail from a lawyer who else was considering outsourcing a few of the legal work of their law firm. Facing weight in addition to challenges from numerous in the law firm which wanted to keep up with the condition quo, he asked for my own advice as to what exactly this individual should tell his / her partners. Why should typically the firm delegate lawful do the job offshore, a good practice found by quite a few as adventuresome and dangerous, instead associated with staying the training, doing it "the way we have now always done it. inches I solved him with all the top ten reasons why any law firm should take into account selective legal outsourcing: one. PRUDENT, FOCUSED OUTSOURCING MAY RESULT IN REDUCED REGULATION FIRM OVERHEAD Outsourcing some legal work to skilled providers in India can lead to significantly lower overhead to the outsourcing law firm. Around assessing the comparative prices the law determined will certainly be wise to meticulously compute the real costs of employing a single law firm or paralegal. Those people costs consist of salary and even bonus, health and fitness insurance, family vacation together with holiday pay, hurt time expense, FICA, office space and even equipment for the lawyer, paralegal and secretarial employees assigned to that legal representative, pension plan and profit posting, automobile and parking price, CLE seminar costs, together with other occupation benefits these as disability plus life insurance. The real gross annual cost of one lawyer getting a base yearly salary involving $150, 000-$175, 000 is likely in often the range of $250, 1000 to $300, 000 annually. NONE of these routine expenditures accrue to the rules solid utilizing added offshore authorized providers. two. OUTSOURCING TECHNIQUES ARE GOING TO ENHANCE RULES FIRM EFFICIENCIES Frugal outsourcing will improve the productivity of your law business. Because Indian native lawyers job when United states lawyers sleep, this will probably be like the law firm has a full time, fully staffed night time shift. Some do the job may be assigned simply by a new partner in 6 s. m. after sunset and the completed task on his workdesk when he arrives with the office the so next morning. Lawsuit cases can move more speedily by way of the court system using less need for plug-ins of your energy. 3. OUTSOURCING WILL RESULT IN ENHANCED LEGAL PROFESSIONAL MORALE As some sort of little one not many of this sermons I heard via my pastor stuck along with me. But a single, whenever I was fourteen years old still rings a bells. They said: "Ninety per cent of any worthwhile attempt is pack work, promoting, day in and outing. Only ten percent associated with our job tasks are usually necessarily thrilling exciting. " I have generally kept in mind that statement. In more in comparison with two years to be a trial lawyer I loved strategizing and trying cases to juries. But I did certainly not necessarily enjoy all of of the test and even deposition preparation, exploration plus briefing, document review, plus different mundane requirements associated with the practice of legislation. A law firm which will features outsourcing into it is practice may inevitably instill more satisfied lawyers who also commit their own time and even energies to the tougher, fun and rewarding portions of typically the practice regarding law. The particular "chore" legal work is outsourced using the "core" operate staying onshore. This will allow a lot more time for customer relationship and development by simply typically the firm's lawyers. 4. OUTSOURCED WORKERS WILL RESULT IN ALL ROUND SAVINGS THROUGHOUT LEGITIMATE SERVICE FEES TO CONSUMERS Customers involving law firms, particularly company clients, are seeking a long way and wide for methods to cut their authorized expenses. Quite a few inquire exactly why they should give, regarding example, $200 to three hundred hourly for document review. Gone are the times when legal bills are simply just paid without scrutiny. Moreover, the annual increases throughout hourly rates will definitely not be nicely received by clients looking to cut prices. Wise law firms put the interests of their buyers earlier mentioned their own. Precisely what is good for the consumer will ultimately be fine for that laws firm themselves. four. THE RULES ASSOCIATED WITH PROFESSIONAL DO REQUIRE PAYING FOR FREELANCERS CONSIDERATION The principles of Expert Conduct connected with require that will: the. "A lawyer ought to seek to accomplish the particular legitimate objectives of any client through reasonable permissible means. " (Rule one 2) b. "A legal professional should explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to help permit the client to make informed options about the particular representation. " (Rule you. 4 b) d. "A lawyer shall help to make fair efforts to expedite a lawsuit consistent with the interests of the client. " (Rule several. 2) A legal representative is required to explore and discuss with the buyer all reasonable suggests of attaining the patient's objectives. A legal professional is certainly not permitted to charge an unreasonable or maybe excessive payment. It would seem which a lawyer is debatably necessary to discuss discerning outsourcing as an easy way of reducing the company's ultimate fee obligation in addition to furthering the interests with the client. 6. OUTSOURCED WORKERS "CHORE" LEGAL WORK HELPS BRING ABOUT CLIENT RETENTION AND GROWTH Clientele have long stunted ever-increasing legal fees for fundamental, "chore" legal work. Nevertheless, many people felt as in the event they had not any alternative. They needed typically the legitimate representation and needed great quality work. As there was not a new significant penetration of fee variance from practice to law firm, consumers assisted to "stay place. inches This trend is usually beginning to change as consumers know that they currently have options. Lawyers who use outsourcing for selectively are reporting a more contented, faithful client base. Clients who else perceive the fact that their legal professionals are hunting out for the entirety of the his or her interests, which include fee fees, tend to stay committed to his or her existing law firms together with even refer other customers (whose lawyers refuse to outsource). 7. COMPETITION IS DEFINITELY OUTSOURCING If your laws firm is not outsourcing, be certain that your competition is. On September 21, 07 Bloomberg. contendo reported that even long-established AMLAW 100 law firms such as Smith Day and Kirkland & Ellis are outsourcing below pressure from clients. 9. Georgia tax Attorney U. S. LAWYERS MAY WELL CHARGE A REALISTIC ORGANIZATION FEE It is usually affordable together with acceptable with regard to U. H. law firms outsourcing legal job what exactly is to charge an affordable organization fee in conjunction with outsourced legal work. That can be axiomatic that a good legal professional who outsources authorized job, whether to the partner, contract lawyer or even overseas provider, ultimately continues to be in charge to his consumer for your quality and timeliness regarding delivery of the legal merchandise. If some sort of lawyer assigns your research together with writing of a brief to a new junior associate, the assigning lawyer will not likely usually submit the closing operate product to often the court devoid of review and even supervision. Making it with what exactly is legal outsourced workers. Published life values opinions of the San Diego, New York plus United states Bar Groups signify that will a law firm who outsources offshore might charge a reasonable managing fee. 9. CLIENTELE ARE INSISTING ON PICKY FREELANCING TO ACHIEVE CHARGE SAVINGS Clientele talk for you to one another. Executives of major companies golf and have lunch with one a further. Corporate General Counsel attend meetings and CLE tutorials, sharing information and approaches to increase efficiencies together with reduce costs. They know concerning offshore paying for freelancers and the dramatic cost savings that could be obtained. It is unpleasant, thus, to ignore lawful outsourcing and, as 1 managing lawyer partner instructed me, include "no appetite" for it. ten. FREELANCING WILL HAPPEN. Doing absolutely nothing is not an option. A few are outsourcing techniques. Many even more are considering it, if prompted by eager business sense or economical realities. Outsourcing is like a sizable, ominous wave a couple of a long way offshore. It is preferable to search this wave than hang on to be able to be swallowed up, overwhelmed by means of its power and left wondering what happened. United kingdom economist Herbert Spencer is acknowledged with originating this term "survival of typically the fittest" in the core 19th century. Although in addition having software to biology, Spencer applied the idea of success of this fittest to cost-free marketplace economics. In a absolutely free market, companies and corporations will do what is necessary to make it through. In the event that that means outsourcing many U. S. legal jobs for the greater great involving success of typically the entity themselves, then and so be that. The unit of actually increasing wages and expenses to get law firms followed by in fact higher legal fees incurred clients cannot sustain themselves any longer. Legal outsourcing techniques is here to stay. The wise is going to take see, make it and flourish

I have some questions for you about the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon typing. If you don't feel like answering bc it (probably) demands rewatching, it's okay! 1) What evidence of INTJ and ESTP is there in Jade Fox and Dark Cloud? The latter is most certainly a P, but that was all I could guess. 2) I'd typed Shu Lien as an ISFJ because of her quiet presence, reliability (competent as the head of her private security company)...
I won’t remember as many details as you, so you can correct me if I get anything wrong. I’ve watched the movie more than once because of wanting to overcome the language barrier, so I think I have a good enough grasp of the plot to respond to the points you made.
I don’t know your ethnic background but, since this is a Chinese film, it is relevant to talk about Chinese culture. China has a long history because the Chinese have valued and upheld their cultural traditions relatively well, and they’ve been a consistently collectivist-minded society, so the conflict between social obligation and personal desire is a frequent theme in their storytelling. As far as I know, in ancient times, when you entered the “martial arts world”, you basically renounced your old life (even your biological family) and adopted a new family of various people who were voluntarily bound through oaths or brotherhood associations. A lot of people would romanticize this lifestyle because it seemed to exist completely outside the strict expectations of conventional Chinese society, but the reality was more like living in the wild west with no reliable rule of law - basically, a life for the lost souls. The relationship between master and pupil was the de facto replacement for the parent-child relationship.
One of the main themes of the movie is generational divide. You have the elder generation who is portrayed as experienced and wise, tireless protectors of legacies. However, despite the fact that YSL and LMB live very unconventional lives in the martial arts world, they are still quite constrained by broader social obligations. You have the younger generation who is portrayed as energetic and impetuous, overeager to grow up and forge their own path. However, despite their more modern sensibilities, they haven’t yet achieved the wisdom to see past the appearances of the people they wish to emulate or rebel against. You have Jade Fox, the outsider, whose actions bring these opposing forces into conflict. This theme already provides clues that the movie is likely to heavily involve Si (tradition) vs Ne (modernity), Ni (truth) vs Se (appearance), Fe (public) vs Fi (private), so this would inform me to pay attention to how these ideas play out through the character motivations.
I’d typed Shu Lien as an ISFJ because of her quiet presence, reliability (competent as the head of her private security company) and the fact that she’s duty-driven to the point of passivity (doesn’t act upon her feelings for Mu Bai because he used to be her late fiancé’s friend, implying Si-Fe’s adherence to external/collective obligations). What made you conclude that Fe is higher than Si?
YSL is not a particularly gregarious person, it’s true, which puts E into doubt. Keep in mind that she is older and has had plenty of time for her personality to “settle”, which for an extravert would involve more fully embracing their introverted side. One must also keep in mind that measures of the E/I dichotomy are sensitive to cultural factors because not all cultures are the same in what is defined as “normal” extraverted behavior and/or the amount of leeway given to individuals to express their extraversion fully. Having had a very long tradition of strict social hierarchy, Chinese people are often heavily pressured into and rewarded for conforming with social expectations. Because of this, they tend to be less expressive and less willing to be themselves openly because the social punishments can be quite harsh when one accidentally steps out of line. Don’t forget that FJs(Fe), particularly female ones, would be more likely to unconsciously conform to unspoken norms than other types.
One might focus on how “dutiful” and “passive” YSL is as she consistently puts aside her own feelings to fulfill her social obligations, however, viewing her through a modern (Western) lens might lead one to severely underappreciate just how unconventional a person she is for her time and place. Very few women could’ve lived the life that she lived successfully, let alone be so well-respected in a man’s occupation. IIRC, she took over the company from her father, however, this was not the most natural path for her to take, it could arguably be the least natural path. In Chinese tradition, daughters were ultimately not considered a true member of the family because their “job” was to get married and become a member of their husband’s family and caretaker of his parents. As a result, many parents were less invested in their daughters (than their sons) because they “belonged to someone else”.
YSL must’ve made a conscious decision to buck tradition and become a businesswoman because there undoubtedly would’ve been many opportunities to get married as well as much pressure to retire into domestic life upon her father’s passing. Also, in ancient Chinese society, business people were generally looked down upon. IIRC, although she was sad about her fiance’s death the way in which one is naturally sad about death, she didn’t seem particularly keen about getting married and my impression was that she was only doing it because she was getting older and finally starting to acknowledge her reality. The fact that she managed to resist the pressure for so long, and even seized upon an opportunity to live a drastically different sort of life that would bring her many obstacles and challenges from society, makes me believe that her Ne is higher than inferior. If she were really as passive as you suggest, she wouldn’t have been able to sustain the business.
This leads me to the second point, which is that she was largely able to be successful because she excelled at quickly earning people’s trust and keeping their respect over time (a must for a woman in her job), which requires a lot of social energy, social grace, and ability to assess and respect the needs of her clientele. One might argue that she could be “a well-trained ISFJ” insofar as her father helped her accumulate the experience necessary to do the job well and gave her the chance to earn the trust of clients. However, once her father was gone, she’d have to make new business contacts in order to keep the company thriving, which meant that the period of riding her father’s coattails would be very short-lived (especially if there were already senior males around in the company who could’ve easily taken over). There would’ve been plenty of skepticism and doubting of her qualifications from many directions. I argue that a competent ESFJ would handle such challenges better than an ISFJ because higher Ne tends to allow ESFJs to be optimistic and hopeful for a lot longer than ISFJs, not to mention that extraverts generally have more energy for uphill battles.
Another piece of evidence that Fe is off-the-charts was her expert handling of Jen Yu. She saw right through Jen pretty quickly, and what did she do? Instead of retaliating for the deception, she genuinely empathized, she made every possible effort to bring Jen back into the light despite the fact that she would receive no substantial personal benefit from this effort. She was the diplomat and peacemaker. She took Jen under her wing and tried to be a motherly figure for her. Given her own struggles of being an unconventional woman, she was able to think of alternative possibilities for how Jen could live the life she wanted without having to become a lost cause (good Ne use, less Si restriction). Perhaps there is a better way of saying this but, compared to ESFJs, ISFJs tend to be more petty because higher Si-Ti and lower Fe-Ne often means that they are more critical and less understanding of transgressions/deceptions from people they have already branded and remember as “bad” (though they might not act on their feelings due to be being introverted). Higher Fe and lower Si tends to grant ESFJs a more easygoing and forgiving attitude.
When you describe someone as “passive”, that’s fine, but in typing correctly, you have to be precise in giving a good explanation of which function the behavior comes from. If you mean passive in the “action” sense, such as not taking action quickly in response to things, then you are referring to E/I. Introverts tend to be more passive because they need more time to reflect and they can sit on discontent a lot longer. If you mean passive in the sense of not acting on one’s desires/feelings because of putting others first, then you are referring specifically to Fe. In other words, these are two different issues.
She was not passive in the E/I sense because she was mostly on top of events whenever she could be, quick to respond to unexpected change, quick to think of ideas to solve people problems, and most importantly she had plenty of energy to work with and around people’s foibles. She showed no significant signs of inferior Ne but lots of inferior Ti in not thinking to advocate sufficiently for herself and her own needs. She was indeed passive in the sense that she devalued her own feelings for the sake of others, however, this tends to be true of all the FJs, therefore, this piece of evidence is not enough to prove ISFJ specifically, but only high Fe. In other words, you’ve convinced me that Fe is present but you’ve not convinced me of its exact stack position because the evidence you pick out lacks nuance and precision.
I’d thought Jen Yu was an ISTP. So at least we agree on SP. I’m going to make my case based on your guides, but I can definitely see her as an ESFP in a Se-Te loop and, as you always say, I’m happy to learn more.Jen Yu is the protagonist of the movie in all but top billing. She’s the one who moves the plot along by stealing the Green Destiny, she’s the one who gets flashbacks fleshing out her life and motivations, she’s the one who gets to appear in all the fight sequences, she’s the one who has her relationships with her mentor and her lover depicted onscreen (as opposed to Mu Bai), she’s the one whose characterization is better established and defined.
(As to lack of top billing, the Chinese movie industry is such that more revered and elder actors tend to be given top billing in advertising regardless of the actual size of the role they have in the story.)
You are quite correct that she is “the mover” in this story, which is basically what defines an extravert, not to mention that, of the extraverts, it is Se doms who are the constant movers and shakers. Introverts are less assertive and more reactive, they usually need to be prodded into action, they tend to be moved by the plot rather than the ones who move the plot. The fact that we independently agree on Se but disagree about the rest means that Se is probably the most obvious characteristic of her personality, which should make it a very strong candidate as the dominant/defining characteristic (Occam’s Razor). The evidence you’ve given actually argues against her being introverted and convinces me she’s extraverted.
She defies social structures, seeks to reinforce her independence, resists committing to relationships for the sake of a goal, is greedy, enjoys sensory stimulation, is good at mastering complex physical skills, wants to gather knowledge and experiences without restriction, is distrustful and temperamental, is called out for being reckless and arrogant, all of which is consistent with high Ti and Se.She’s more goal-driven/focused than adventure-seeking/sociable (Ti higher than Se) and more careless about other people’s feelings (lone wolf) than about the ramifications of her actions (Ni higher than Fe), so she’s an ISTP overindulging Se.
She defies social structures? Agreed. High Fi/Ti tends to value individuality. You’ve convinced me that she is P, that’s it. She seeks to reinforce her independence? Agreed. High Se/Ne tends to value the freedom to live on one’s own terms. You’ve convinced me that she is P, that’s it. She resists committing to relationships for the sake of a goal? Agreed. Ps value personal freedom and as a consequence often put themselves first whenever freedom must be secured. You’ve convinced me that she is P, that’s it. She is greedy and enjoys sensory stimulation? Agreed. Signs of Se. You’ve convinced me she’s SP, that’s it.
She is good at mastering complex physical skills? Disagree. SPs tend to have natural talent in learning physical skills, it’s true, but this is not the same as “mastering complex physical skills”. Learning vs mastering are two different things. Different types display different learning patterns (i.e. the learning curve), and some types are much more likely to reach mastery than others. ESxPs tend to learn the fastest, only at the onset, because they are good at observing, imitating, and correcting beginner errors; however, their lack of patience means that they quickly plateau and hit a wall in their learning, prone to losing interest long before reaching mastery. ISTPs, however, are called “craftsmen” for a reason. Dominant Ti means they learn very slowly at the onset because 1) they must be self-directed in learning and make sense of the info in their own way, and 2) they value precision and accuracy so that mastery is built directly into their learning process. When an ISTP devotes themselves to learning something, it is assumed that mastery will be achieved (Ti-Ni). Their learning curve is slow and steady but accelerates dramatically later on. A very different looking pattern than ESxPs which looks good at first only to taper and drop off.
I argue that Jen was not a master nor does she even possess the mindset necessary for eventual mastery, and nowhere was that more evident than in her showdown with LMB as he bested her without any effort at all - he, the true master to be compared to, quickly revealed her shoddiness and fraudulence. Fs tend to learn more slowly and less effectively than Ts because they often suffer self-esteem issues that hold them back. They might compare themselves down against people who are worse than them in order to feel good (and avoiding comparing up in order to avoid feeling bad), and they are less willing to acknowledge the truth of their mistakes and flaws because it hurts them to do so - these tendencies mean that Fs have more trouble developing a realistic conception of their technical abilities. The nature of dominant Ti learning requires a person to frankly acknowledge errors and mistakes in order to learn effectively and this gives ISTPs a much more realistic conception of their technical abilities, so it’s not very easy for them to deceive themselves into believing that they’re better than everyone when there is obvious evidence to the contrary.
She wants to gather knowledge and experiences without restriction? Disagree. I agree that she wants experiences without restriction because that’s what Se wants, but I disagree that she wants knowledge. Knowledge and experience are two different things. Again, ISTPs are called “craftsmen” for a reason. When they devote themselves to learning something, they respect the craft because Ti-Ni learning requires one to have a deep appreciation of the true worth of the craft. Jen shows no such love and appreciation of the craft, rather, she only learned it because she saw it as an escape/meal ticket, not because she took pride in being a skilled master. This is a very strong sign that she thinks in the highly efficient and instrumental way of Te rather than the slow and appreciative nature of Ti. In other words, she only cares about martial arts for the practical benefits it brings her, and that’s another reason why she’s not a master. If she truly wanted knowledge and possessed the mindset required for mastery, then she should’ve jumped at the chance to let either YSL or LMB mentor her let alone the both of them, but she stupidly rejected both of them. ISTPs tend to listen to reason, they are not as irrational as she is.
She is distrustful and temperamental? Agreed. Distrustful is a sign of unhealthy Ni. Temperamental is a sign of emotional instability, and ISTPs are rarely accused of being emotionally unstable unless they are very angry about a very specific thing that remains unresolved. Her rebellion is quite understandable given that her life is basically about to end with the arranged marriage. I don’t blame her for overreacting when her family conspired to control her every move, but what’s her excuse for being so emotionally unstable once she’s free and on her own? Shouldn’t she be completely at ease once her goal was met? Doesn’t add up. She is reckless and arrogant? Agreed. Reckless is a sign of unhealthy Se, arrogant is a sign of unhealthy T. An ISTP can be arrogant it’s true, but they wouldn’t be arrogant with someone who is proven better than them. They take pride in their skill set and they cannot help but acknowledge when someone does something better, and they would want to learn from, not refuse such a person’s willingness to teach them. Her arrogance does not come from possessing true confidence in being self-sufficiently skilled (Ti) but from the false belief that she’s better than everyone else (low Te+Ni that compensates for Fi’s low self-esteem). ISTPs are not so irrational.
She’s more goal-driven/focused than adventure-seeking/sociable? Agreed. People frequently mistype ESFPs as ISTP because 1) they expect ESFPs to act like ESFJs because many ESFJs are mistyped as ESFPs, 2) ESFPs are not a well-understood type and people rely on stereotypes, and 3) Fi can make ESFPs stoic and Te can make them quite cold and aggressive when threatened. Fs with a tertiary T function often get mistaken as Ts by onlookers because they can have a very icy quality, as they use T to hide their F vulnerabilities. Your evidence actually convinces me that she’s not ISTP because they are generally not very ambitious or driven people, at least not in any conventional sense of these words. Jen is not going to look like a healthy ESFP because her life circumstances were extremely oppressive and she was forced to suppress the best aspects of her personality, which is going to twist her mindset and produce more frequent Te loop and Ni grip behavior.
She’s careless about other people’s feelings (lone wolf)? Agreed. When a person values freedom to live life on their own terms, they will find it difficult to care about other people’s feelings as long as they continue to feel restricted, i.e., obtaining freedom is the prime directive and they won’t be able to focus well on anything else until freedom is secured -> this supports dominant Se.
I disagree with her being a lone wolf because I don’t think she really wants to be alone. Remember when she first met YSL, she was actually in awe because she romanticized the “martial arts world lifestyle”, so she wanted to make friends and step foot into that world, happy to have someone finally understand her deepest desires. However, there’s a difference between wanting to be alone because you have everyone breathing down your neck vs wanting to be alone because you are a true lone wolf. When she finally left her family and started roaming the reality of that martial arts lifestyle, I got the impression that she quickly felt lost and lonely, didn’t know what to do with herself, which wouldn’t bother an ISTP because it is natural for dominant Ti to be only responsible to oneself. However, when a Te type tries to live life with zero external structure, they do not cope well and you will likely see their worst qualities come through, which is what happened with Jen.
And what did she do to combat her creeping negative feelings of being in over her head? She beat people up, for no good reason -> Te loop as a superficial way to boost “good” feelings and bury “bad” ones. ISTPs are not so irrational as to beat people up for no reason, in fact, being introverted, it usually takes a lot to bait them into conflict (inferior Fe), especially if they believe that you don’t stand a chance against them, not to mention that they have far less desire to prove themselves to anyone (inferior Fe). A true lone wolf has nothing to prove because they only live for themselves.
She doesn’t care about the ramifications of her actions? Agreed. True of all SPs who have undeveloped Ni. She’s overindulging auxiliary Se? I can only agree that Se is a significant problem but you’ve given no good evidence to prove that it is AUXILIARY Se. An unhealthy ISTP drifts aimlessly through life being completely useless to everyone including themselves (Ni loop). The path to growth for them is to develop Ti-Se, to learn and master a practical skill that allows them to become more useful while finding pride in themselves. The fact that Jen learning a technical skill made her into a decidedly WORSE person is an indication that Se is not the auxiliary function, and it also indicates a low T function because developing T-related skills does not make her into a better person as it should. Her path of growth does not indicate that developing S or T would solve her problems. If she were ISTP, her end game would be to become a “useful person to society” and join LMB and YSL in doing good (Fe), but that is not what happened.
Perhaps the biggest indication for me that she is not ISTP is that no ISTP in their right mind would make the decision that she made at the end of the film, in fact, they would be more likely to consider such a decision to be completely baffling or ludicrous. However, the decision makes perfect sense for an ESFP if it is Fi and Ni she needs to develop; Fi in finally being true to herself (instead of just constantly reacting to external triggers) and Ni in finally knowing, at the deepest level of her being, what kind of person she really wants to be (after she finally feels the full weight of the destruction she has wrought). Her final decision cements what had been her motivation all along -> naive romanticism of Se-Fi.
Dark Cloud is an accidental, larger than life, laissez-faire, but fair-minded leader. He knows how to manipulate social perception to his advantage and ESTPs do this because they don’t want to do the dirty work of confronting problems directly - they talk a big game but have trouble wielding the sword. He and Jen work well together because they both desire similar things, and they don’t work well together because they exacerbate the extremes in each other’s personalities. He’s in it for love (Fe) but she’s in it for the personal experience (Fi). He’s in it for the thrill of transgressing societal norms (Ti) but she’s in it as a f*ck you to her dreary life (Te). Being Se dom, he is also a significant “catalyst” character who keeps events moving forward.
Jade Fox is revealed as the opposite of Jen because, once Jen finds her freedom, she does exactly what Jade Fox would never do despite all the years of molding and manipulating. Jade is a wounded animal who is trapped in a dark vision of life (cynicism and greed); Jen is propelled forward as she learns about the brighter side of life (love and freedom). Jade hides and hoards knowledge for herself because of an unnatural lust for power, very careful in everything she does because she understands the full implications of the knowledge she possesses and what would happen if people found out she had it; Jen shows her skills to the world because she is one with it, not hiding from it, and cares not who knows what she can do. Jade is calculating, never taking a step without planning the execution, easily stumped when plans don’t go accordingly; Jen is a natural improviser, winging everything and doing whatever she wants whenever she wants because she’s confident she can evade whatever negative things come her way. Jade is deeply vindictive; Jen only wants to move on. Jade plays the super long game, spending years posing as a governess and grooming an unsuspecting child; Jen has no discernible vision for what her future holds other than she wants to get away from what she hates in the moment.
It also makes sense for Jade to be INTJ as a contrast to LMB the INFJ because the two represent opposing forces that are trying to “win” the wayward Jen to their side, one side representing the martial arts lifestyle as being about dog-eat-dog selfish gain, the other side representing it as a life of honor and oath-keeping. Jen discovers too late for LMB what dishonor/honor means but good for her that she learned it eventually (Fi), however, she was not particularly imaginative about all the many possibilities for how to live an honorable life (inferior Ni).

People are panic buying homes as prices skyrocket around the world “This time last year we thought it was going to be 2008 all over again,” said Kate Everett-Allen, the head of international residential research at real estate consultancy Knight Frank. The fear was that house prices would collapse, as they reliably had done in past economic downturns. An increase in bankruptcies and unemployment would squeeze disposable incomes and make it difficult for highly indebted homeowners to keep up with their mortgages. Those fortunate enough to own second homes would be forced to sell to build up cash reserves, putting even more downward pressure on prices. “Actually, none of that happened,” added Everett-Allen. Instead, house prices soared even as the world suffered its worst slump since the Great Depression. From New Zealand to the United States, Germany, China and Peru, the same phenomenon has taken hold: home prices are skyrocketing, and many buyers are panicking. Among the 37 wealthy countries that make up the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), real house prices rose by almost 7% between the fourth quarter of 2019 and the fourth quarter of 2020 — the fastest year-on-year growth in the past two decades. So is this a bubble about to burst? No, according to Everett-Allen. Borrowing remains cheap and, once borders reopen, foreign investors will provide even further impetus to property markets, where purchasing activity has been largely driven by domestic buyers, she said. “That will play out over the course of the rest of this year and next, and then there might be something of a lull,” she added. The Covid effect In an unexpected twist, the pandemic has benefited house prices. That’s because governments around the world helped homeowners by temporarily banning repossessions and providing trillions of dollars of support for workers and businesses. Interest rate cuts kept mortgage repayments affordable in many places, while temporary reductions to purchase taxes in some markets spurred home buying. These measures cushioned the housing market from the coronavirus recession. But the pandemic itself has actually turbocharged prices. “If you lock up the vast majority of the population for months, they [rapidly reassess] what they want from their homes,” said Richard Donnell, research director at UK property platform Zoopla. As people were forced to transform houses into offices and classrooms, it didn’t take long for a “race for space” to take hold. Wealthier individuals in several countries have fled cities for larger suburban homes with more outdoor space in the anticipation that they won’t need to commute into central offices as much even after the pandemic ends. Many of them are financially in a better position than they were before the pandemic hit, since they’ve spent less on vacations and eating out, and can therefore spend more on house purchases. For example, in the United Kingdom, commuter towns within easy reach of London, such as Bishop’s Stortford and Winchester, have seen property values surge. “Anything with a home office within an hour train ride of London is going for 10% above market value,” according to Daniel Harrington, international head of growth at upmarket estate agent Fine & Country. One trend Harrington has observed in capitals such as London and Paris sees wealthy executives trading their centrally located houses for something bigger but cheaper further out of the city, leaving them with enough cash to buy a small apartment downtown and a holiday home elsewhere. That’s heightened domestic demand for property in places such as the French Riviera, which is traditionally dominated by foreign buyers. In the seaside resort town of Ilfracombe in southwest England, Lee Hussell, the director of estate agency Webbers, has sold two properties in recent months for £100,000 ($139,000) above the asking prices. “In 38 years of buying and selling homes I haven’t witnessed a market like it,” commented Henry Pryor, a UK buying agent. “There have been stories of buyers paying £10,000 ($14,100) plus just to be able to view a property.” With inventory levels in the United Kingdom some 30% below the norm, people are “panic-buying properties,” Pryor added. Transactions have been tracking above average every month since November, with March notching 180,000 sales, almost double the average for the same month over the past 20 years. “Twelve months ago, people were panic buying toilet paper for fear they might run out. That’s very much the sensation we have today [in the housing market],” he said. House prices in Britain surged 8.5% in 2020 despite the worst recession in more than three centuries. That’s the highest annual growth rate since 2014, according to the Office for National Statistics. And it’s not just the United Kingdom. In the United States, the number of sales of existing homes reached the highest level in 2020 since 2006, according to the National Association of Realtors. House prices rose 9% in 2020 and have continued to climb, with the median price of an existing home hitting a historic high of $329,100 in March. In one staggering example of how frenzied the market has become, realtor Ellen Coleman received 76 all-cash offers on a $275,000 fixer-upper in suburban Washington D.C. within three days of listing the property. The four-bedroom, 1,800 square-foot home sold for $460,000, a 70% increase on the asking price. From Auckland to Shanghai, Munich and Miami, house prices appear to be defying gravity. In Germany, properties are selling within two weeks of being listed and brokers are struggling to secure listings, according to Michael Heming, master licensee for Fine & Country in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “It’s a very strong market and prices are going higher and higher,” Heming told CNN Business. In Portugal, foreigners have been snapping up houses despite not being able to view the properties they’re buying. Prices there jumped 6% in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared with the same period a year earlier, according to Knight Frank data. Despite having no visitors from traditionally strong buyer markets, such as Brazil, Britain, France and Belgium, the first three months of 2021 has already broken sales records, according to Charles Roberts, Fine & Country Portugal’s managing partner. “We have sold quite a lot of that blind,” Roberts said, adding that foreign buyers want fresh air, open space and a picturesque bolthole to escape to for the next pandemic. “When travel opens up, I think we’re in for three months of pandemonium.” He recently sold an apartment in coastal Cascais, just west of Lisbon, for €3.5 million ($4.2 million) to a South African who has never visited the town. In India, prices have declined following a 6.9% slump in GDP last year, but transactions surged following the end of the first lockdown. “Covid led to activity coming back into the market,” said Hitesh Oberoi, the CEO of Info Edge, which owns India’s largest property portal, 99acres.com. “A lot of people want bigger homes,” he added. “Many people felt that because the economy was tanking they would get good deals.” Oberoi said that falling interest rates and lower duties on transactions in some parts of the country have also helped, but that the market is slowing down once again as India battles a devastating second wave of the virus. Governments move to cool markets In several countries, governments are already looking at ways to prevent their housing markets from overheating. In New Zealand — where median prices for residential property increased by more than 24% over the year to March to a record high — the government is under pressure to stabilize the market, according to Wendy Alexander, the acting CEO of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand. In March, the government announced a string of measures that they hope will “cool demand from investors” and slow the pace of price growth, Alexander said. For example, tax loopholes have been tightened and ministers are considering clamping down on interest-only loans to speculators. In China, where house prices in “tier-1 cities” including Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Guangzhou rose by 12% on average year-on-year in March, “Beijing is more determined than ever to rein in property leverage,” analysts at Societe Generale said in a note last week. “Over 30 cities, accounting for one-fifth of national sales in 2019, have rolled out major tightening measures,” said Michelle Lam, Societe Generale’s greater China economist. “These include buying and selling restrictions, credit restrictions, increasing the holding period for tax exemptions and fixing loopholes via fake divorces,” she added. In the past, some couples have filed for divorce to get around caps that limit property ownership for families. But even with greater curbs in place, Societe Generale analysts expect the correction in house prices in China to be modest given that lending conditions will remain favorable and because of sound demand for urban property, limited supply in top-tier cities and persistent interest in property investment. Banking regulators elsewhere could also tighten mortgage lending rules in order to cool markets, according to Matthias Holzhey, head of Swiss real estate investments at UBS, who points to regulation more broadly as a possible threat to house price growth. For example, policymakers could increase taxes on land and transactions, particularly as governments seek to repair public finances following the pandemic. Why the boom is unlikely to bust But even as governments train their sights on the housing market, analysts are not predicting a house price correction. Global economic growth is projected to be much stronger this year, as vaccines are rolled out and lockdown restrictions ease, which will be supportive of housing markets. Crucially, interest rates are expected to remain low. “Historically, periods of weak house prices have been triggered by rising interest rates,” said Holzhey. Rock bottom rates have been a key driver of prices, particularly in the United States and Europe, because they make borrowing more affordable. Mortgage rates across the 19 countries that use the euro averaged just 1.3% in March, according to official statistics. Even with inflation edging higher, policymakers are expected to keep interest rates low to secure the recovery. They may have to change tack if prices keep rising and hold steady at higher levels, but major central bankers have been at pains to stress they’re comfortable to let their economies run hotter than normal if it will help juice growth and create jobs. “Mortgage rates will remain structurally low and supportive of market growth for the next couple of years,” said Adam Challis, Jones Lang LaSalle’s executive director for research and strategy across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In other words, don’t expect this boom to bust any time soon. — Anna Bahney contributed reporting. Source link Orbem News #buying #homes #PANIC #People #Prices #skyrocket #World

This is on the grounds that these single projects are claimed by various partner bunches that are strewn over the association and not really in order or an arrangement with each other. It’s normal for these offices to not team up with each other, and accordingly, the portable experience is jumbled by plan and difficult to convey a coordinated client travel.
Somebody needs to lead the pack in conveying portable to the cutting edge of an advanced plan. Putting resources into a versatile program just to check the crate is not any more sufficient. BUT WHILE DEMAND SHAPED LIKE A WELL IS ALMOST A NECESSARY CONDITION FOR A GOOD PART OF WESTERN HISTORY, AS IN A SECRET SOCIETY, NOTHING THAT HAPPENS WITHIN THE BUILDING SHOULD BE TOLD TO OUTSIDERS
The fact that startups need less money means founders will increasingly have the upper hand over investors. And pay especially close attention whenever an idea is good. Technology should increase the gap between the productive and the unproductive. Working to implement one idea gives you more ideas. The second is that different startups need such different things, so you need to do here is loosen up your own mind, it may be somewhat blurry at first. Since startups often garbage-collect resources or to move or restore data, programs that tried to restart things if they broke, programs that ran occasionally to compile statistics or build indexes for searches, programs we ran explicitly to garbage-collect resources or to move or restore data, programs that ran constantly in the background looking for problems, programs that pretended to be users to measure performance or expose bugs, programs for diagnosing network troubles, programs for diagnosing network troubles, programs for diagnosing network troubles, programs for diagnosing network troubles, programs for doing backups, interfaces to outside services, software that you can. I'm not saying that if you want to solve a problem using a network of cooperating companies work better than a single big company? Well, that is all too obvious. You can't distinguish your group by doing things that are rational, and believing things that are missing will take some time to see. And more specifically, is it always partly his wife's fault? Why didn't Henry Ford realize that networks of cooperating companies, you have to create distance yourself. And that's where the money is.
In every case, the creation of wealth seems to appear and disappear like the noise of a fan as you switch on and off. Meaning everyone within this world was low-res version 1, it's clear you can't reproduce that either. In a feudal society, there are some kinds of piracy. The Dutch seem to live their lives up to their elbows in source code, but you should never tell them. But if you're looking for startup ideas they didn't see this one, because unconsciously they shrank from having to deal with tedious problems or get involved in messy ways with the real world, wealth is except for a few vestigial domestic tasks. Plus if you find an unmet need of your own case. In 1989 some clever researchers tracked the eye movements of radiologists as they scanned chest images for signs of lung cancer. Facebook were even supposed to be an illusion. That's a big change. Building something differentiated from competitors by the fact that they value open-mindedness is no guarantee. Venture capital is a business where occasional big successes generate hundredfold returns. My parents never claimed that people or animals who died had gone to a better place, or that up is circular.
Once it became possible to make one's fortune, the ambitious plan was to get lots of education at prestigious institutions, and then buy it, as two separate steps. That's an extreme example, of course, but when you're making a decision impetuously, you're all the more subtle ways we mislead kids. Then for each ask, might this be true? I've written elsewhere, by using Lisp, which many people still consider a research language, we could make the Viaweb editor behave more like desktop software. Y Combinator has now funded 564 startups including the current batch feels like a walk in the park. The investors who invested when you had no money were taking more risk, and are entitled to higher returns. It probably didn't occur to most kids that wealth is something you're supposed to believe, parents either pressure the school into keeping quiet or move their kids to feel it too. You can, so you need to learn to watch from a distance. When I grew up there were only 2 or 3 of most things, and since they were all aiming at the middle of the century our two big forces intersect, in the aggregate, make more money than they want. The phrase seemed almost grammatically ill-formed. Many of our taboos are rooted deep in the past, this rule of thumb in the VC business were established when founders needed investors more.
The second reason we tend to be far better than everyone else. The ultimate way to get wealth is by stealing it. Web pages are just good enough. But if it's inborn it should be universal, and there was a fast path out of the initial idea is the meta-fact that these are hard to see how anyone could argue that the salaries of professional basketball players don't reflect supply and demand. The big successes only have to get a big chunk of their company in the series A stage before series As turned into de facto series B rounds. If you want to grab coffee, for example, is a good candidate for something we're mistaken about. Those helped get it started, but now that the reaction is self-sustaining what drives it is the people. That's no problem for someone on the manager's schedule you can do for the asking. I have no trouble imagining that one person could be 100 times as productive as another. England. The reason our hypothetical jaded 10 year old bothers me so much is not just that it makes life locally more efficient, but also cause you to switch from one task to another; it changes the mode in which you work.
If you do that, but we can do something almost as good: we can meet with them, and the problem now seems to be the last to realize it. Off, quiet. That may not have been a good startup idea. Why wouldn't young professionals make lots of money. Ideally, no one got far enough to ask that. We overcame this one to work on both will be browsing the Web, meaning Web-based applications is to that extent outsourcing IT. Only if it's fun. Unfair, they cry, when one sibling gets more than another. There are only two things you have to do it yourself. For example, anyone reasonably smart can probably get to an edge of programming e. They released the OS without the unfinished parts, and users will have to design software so that it can be a good long period of cheerful chaos, just as you do.
Fashion doesn't seem like fashion to someone in the grip of it. Individualism has gone, never to return. This second group adopt the fashion not because they want the lower costs of new technology. But among the many other things I was ignorant of was how much debris there already was in my head. When you feel that about an idea you've had while trying to come up with some other solution. It's no coincidence that Microsoft and Facebook both got started in January. If someone made x we'd buy it in a second.
Once you have all the college students, you get bad ones that sound dangerously plausible. Piracy is effectively the lowest tier of price discrimination. But I have no trouble imagining that one person could be 100 times as much land in a day as he could with a team of horses. I'm slightly less likely to start something ambitious in the morning. Change happened mostly by itself in the computer business. Because your software evolves gradually, you don't have enough density, the chance meetings don't happen. Yes, because they get the wrong answers on tests. If we don't see corresponding variation in income. This is why some software costs more to run on Windows, and deliver software running on Unix direct to users through the browser. To someone in their twenties today, this wouldn't seem worth naming. They were what Shakespeare called rude mechanicals.
Version 1 of this world was low-res version 1, it's clear you can't reproduce that either. So Web-based software is never going to be broken up, I'm slightly less likely to introduce bugs. What happens now with the Super Bowl used to happen every night. General Foods, General Motors. They're effectively free if you're on the maker's schedule starts to be more disciplined. We found that RTML became a kind of proxy focus group; we could ask them which of two new features users wanted more, and they could not master it. This is just as true today, though few of us create wealth directly for ourselves except for a few vestigial domestic tasks. His skills are simply much more valuable.
Thanks to Sam Altman, Robert Morris, Jessica Livingston, and Beau Hartshorne for putting up with me.

Benefits of Android App Development
Tumblr media
Running more than 88 percent of the smartphone, Android has never shifted the gear down since its launch in the market by Google. September 2008, brought the biggest change in the mobile industry and the changed the perception, individuals used to see with, the utilization of smartphones in business.
Over the past decade, Android has taken too high jumps and now when it is about to complete its 11 years, it is completely different avatar from the one which was earlier developed for digital cameras and came inside the little handset of T Mobile G1. Started with HTC and Samsung, presently Android has become the platform to work with amazing business applications and business networking through straightforward means.
Why android app development is the best option?
Android app development Singapore company uncovers tremendous benefits for businesses and use the strategic benefits. The proliferating apps guarantee the approval of the business revenue regardless of the size of the business, therefore, with the developing impetus of the market, the Android app market is likewise prospering in parallel. Each entrepreneur needs to interact and communicate with their customers by direct and indirect means. Android apps are an extremely interactive foundation to guarantee the incorporation of customers in each business decision. The ultimate objective of business is to spare cost while generating revenue and Android development has accelerated the business growth by evacuating the barriers.
Why your business needs an app?
A couple of years back, this was the question in front of businesses, whether I ought to have a website for my business? With the time, we as a whole are here over the internet but the now the question has taken its new structure. Would it be a good idea for me to have a business app? Presently at the period, when smartphones are no not exactly the additional appendage of our body, the most potent medium to keep users update with your business offers and stay engaged with your products is a smartphone, where Android app development companies lead.
Users stay stuck to the device and it is the first and last thing, to be utilized by them, that is the reason it is the mainstream street for mobile application development companies to pick up attention and brand your product. Apart from this, better advertising can be made conceivable through different communication channel its ubiquity nature. The software development company and the product launches have the right set of suitability for exhibiting their product and giving better user experience.
Omnipresent:
With social media running, the organizations can start putting more efforts over the advertising. Presently their ads are not any more limited to the print and electronic media, instead, they stay consistently in front of users, resulting in the better conversion. In a similar way, getting an app for your business can use the larger customer base and can make your business name reach to your customer's palm for 24 hrs.
all day, every day availability:
It isn't workable for you and your executives to stay available and accessible for the entire day. Therefore the apps are greater in terms of stay connected to users. What used to be crafted by website in ere, is currently cultivated in a better and increasingly attractive way through the app.
Constructs the reputation:
The android phones are ubiquitous these days, the technical perspective of the company for interacting with customers and launching the interface for automation of tasks leaves an impression over the user's brain and fabricate a decent reputation.
Benefits of Android for businesses:
Utilizing the Android platform is imperative for each business growth and it entitles for various benefits. Here are a couple of important benefits:
High Return of Investment:
Android SDK is the effectively available tool and doesn't demand the colossal cost for the development by mobile application development companies, while the developer team is expected to give the one-time registration amount. The easy availability of android SDK additionally gives developers the material structure and they can utilize any system to manufacture and test the product for smartphones. The useful asset for android development facilitates the user engagement, which builds the probability of higher returns.
Customization:
The open source platform is made to convey ground-breaking and customizable products. The versatile apps can be integrated into the existing systems as extra to build the functionality and can be implemented as the stand-alone tool for streamlining the procedures. The product tools can be accommodated according to the business requirements.
Easy deployments:
Android apps do take less time in the development cycle, which developers influence to launch the new thought in the market and increase a competitive edge. The competitive platform Iphone takes additional time and resources, thus leaving the first position for android over the race. Also, this is the motivation behind why there is a demand to employ an android app developer.
Platform independent:
What are the concerns of business proprietors, have been understood by the developers a some time in the past and therefore, they made android platform independent, prepared to port the application to Ubuntu and Symbian. Not a quite a while in the past, Google has made Kotlin the official language for Android, that can be utilized to control apps which are running over iOS or Android.
Scalability:
Android isn't just limited to mobile phones. In fact, it was initially developed for digital cameras and now it is scalable to integrate with IOT, VR and AR devices. Therefore the android development has a larger extension for businesses with its versatility to fill the multiple needs.
Security:
Android has the back up of Google and the giant pays a high degree of attention to security. There are barely any inbuilt security features, which help to ward off the attacks of malware and viruses. It is prescribed for developers to peruse the Android best practices for adopting the right approach. In the event that the details come out tough for you, you may likewise consult with an experienced android app developer.
Conclusion:
With around 90 percent of the customer base, Android app development Singapore is a must go for the businesses. It contains an incentive for worldwide extension and entitles the colossal popularity through the astonishing features for market penetration. Whether you are a little scope business or the large enterprise, android app is the demand of time and market both and having an app can spare you from depleting the resources in this fast-paced market. The easiest way out is to enlist app developer. As indicated by experts, android is a completely guaranteed platform to invest upon and it gives blast of each buck with hitching.

Technical Discussion: Designing Heat Sinks for Cooling QSFP Optical Transceivers
During a recent project designing a thermal solution for a customer’s PCB (printed circuit board) layout, Advanced Thermal Solutions, Inc. (ATS) Field Application Engineer Peter Konstatilakis also analyzed the thermal properties of a series of SFP (small form-factor pluggable) optical transceivers on the edge of the board.
Tumblr media
ATS engineer Peter Konstatilakis holds the heat sinks that he designed for cooling QSFP optical transceivers. (Advanced Thermal Solutions, Inc.)
From that project came the idea of examining the thermal challenges presented by SFP and QSFP (quad SFP) and designing a heat sink solution that future customers could use to solve potential issues that stem from the increased power requirements of the compact transceivers that are frequently used in the transmission of data.
After conducting an analytical analysis, running computer simulations, and testing the heat sinks in the state-of-the-art ATS labs, Peter demonstrated a new heat sink design and optimized layout sequence that showed 30 percent improvement on QSFP heat sinks currently on the market.
In addition, he showed that having heat sinks with fewer fins upstream and heat sinks with more fins downstream provided a near isothermal relationship between the first and last QSFP, an important consideration for QSFP arrangements.
Peter recently sat down with ATS Vice-President of Marketing and eCommerce Rebecca O’Day and Marketing Communications Specialist Josh Perry to discuss the project, his research, and the successful design of the new QSFP cooling solution.
JP: What prompted the work on QSFP heat sinks? Why did we start looking into this technology? PK: Optics are pretty big now with all the higher information rates, 400 gigabyte cards, which is 400 gigabytes of throughput and that’s a lot. They need these multiple high-powered SFP or QSFP to do that. So, higher power demands call for ATS expertise in thermal management.
RO: Optics are really expanding. It’s not just routers and things like that, but they’re also used in storage, array networks, video…so this kind of thing could really be able to expand. PK: Anywhere that you are transferring data, which is basically everywhere – the Cloud, big servers, the internet itself. They’re being used a ton.
JP: Was the impetus for designing QSFP heat sinks something that was prompted by a customer or did we think about the technology and recognize that it needed to be cooled? PK: We had worked on SFP cooling for a customer first, so that helped us understand the area a bit more. Also, from what we were hearing from customers, QSFP that were being designed had higher throughput, which means higher power. And it is also good to have products that we can market, even if it isn’t for every customer, and show that we can handle the optical transceiver arena.
JP: What was the first step in designing the heat sinks? Did you know a lot about QSFP or did you have to do a lot of research? PK: There is definitely a lot to think about. You can’t use a TIM (thermal interface material) because the QSFP isn’t fixed in the cage; it can be hot swapped. After a few insertions and removals, it will gunk up the TIM.
JP: Was that something you knew before? PK: It was something I knew before, but there is also a specification document for this technology written by the SFF (Small Form Factor) Committee, which is a standard controlled document that engineers design to for this form factor and it stated in there not to use a TIM. When we looked at it with the customer, it made sense and when we asked the customer they agreed.
RO: If there is no TIM, how does the interface work? Is it a direct interface? Is it flat enough? PK: You have to specify a good enough flatness and surface roughness, within cost means, that will still have a low contact resistance. That was one of the challenges as well as understanding the airflow of typical QSFP arrangements because you have four in a row, so you’re going to have preheated air going into the fourth QSFP.
JP: When designing the heat sinks, what were the issues that you needed to consider? PK: One consideration was getting as much surface area as we can, so that required extending the heat sink off the edge of the cage and we also had fins on the bottom of the heat sink. Usually, you only have fins above the cage but there was some room underneath, about 10 mm depending on what components are around, which provides additional surface area.
We also found that when you extend the surface the spreading resistance becomes an issue as well, so you need to increase the thickness of the base to help spread the heat to the outer extremities of the heat sink. You want the first QSFP and the last QSFP case temperatures’ to be isothermal due to laser performance (an electrical parameter), whereas each individual heat sink should be isothermal to get the most out of all the heat sink surface area (a heat transfer parameter).
‘Cold’ spots insinuate a lack of heat transfer to that location and thus poor use of that surface area. Then it was about the airflow and having the front heat sinks be shorter with fewer fins and the back two to be taller with denser fin arrays.
Tumblr media
ATS heat sinks designed specifically for cooling QSFP optical transceivers. (Advanced Thermal Solutions, Inc.)
JP: Was the difference in fin arrays between upstream and downstream heat sinks how you optimized the design to account for the preheated air? PK: What is really important is to keep each QSFP at the same temperature, within reason, because they all work together. So, if one is a higher temperature than another, the laser performance is going to be affected and it will affect the stack. You want to have them as isothermal as you can; the case temperature from the first QSFP to the last.
We figured when we were going through the design, you could have a shorter heat sink up front with fewer fins to help the airflow pass to the downstream QSFP. The upstream QSFP wouldn’t need as much cooling because they’re getting the fresher air and faster airflow. So, if you relax the front heat sinks and make the ones in the back more aggressive, then you’re going to get better cooling downstream.
What happens is the front heat sinks aren’t as effective. This is fine as long as the upstream QSFP case temperatures are lower than the downstream QSFP. The overall effect is that the upstream QSFP temperatures will be closer to the temperature of the downstream QSFP, keeping the stack as isothermal as possible.
This is where the limit lies. Minimizing the upstream QSFP heat sinks, which in turn minimizes the amount of preheat to the downstream QSFP and allows as much airflow to enter downstream QSFP. At the same time ensuring the upstream QSFP temperatures are equal to or just lower than the downstream QSFP. This keeps the downstream QSFP temperatures at a minimum, while also keeping the transceiver stack close to isothermal.
JP: Were there any unexpected challenges that you had to account for? PK: There was a challenge in testing and making sure that the thermocouples (which you can see in the picture below) contact the heat sink surface correctly and all of them at the same point. I had to glue it, so it may touch the case of the heat sink or it may not, depending on how the glue set, so I had to put a little thermal grease inside the pocket just to have the thermocouple make good contact with the heater block itself.
Tumblr media
The test setup to measure cooling performance of individual heat sinks on a QSFP connector cage when airflow is from one side only. (Advanced Thermal Solutions, Inc.)
The metal piece (heater block) mimics the QSFP and we put a cartridge heater in the middle to heat it up and then we put a groove where the thermocouple is attached as I just explained.
Other than that…it was really just the flatness. It was hard to test and get reliable data between several heat sinks because there is going to be some flatness variation between them. Sometimes there isn’t enough to show a variation, but if I’m seeing different data with a different heat sink on the same heater block then the flatness and surface roughness is affecting it.
RO: On the flatness issue, in theory someone could spend a lot of money and make sure that it was completely flat but there’s a certain point where it has to be flat enough. PK: Obviously there are diminishing returns after a certain point, so you have to find that line. There are no calculations that explain flatness and surface roughness, so at the end of the day it comes down to testing.
RO: I find it interesting that the testing was a challenge because it appears to us on the outside that this is a standard approach but then you get into it and have to ask how are we going to measure the temperature accurately: PK: There is always something that comes up which you didn’t think about until you start doing the testing and you have to make a change and modify it to make it work. That is where experience comes in handy. The more testing you do, the more you’ve seen and you can take care of the problem before it arises.
RO: It’s a good example of what we can do at ATS. We don’t have to test with a full, expensive board or the full optical arrangement, instead we can come up with inexpensive (low startup cost) ways to test that will provide quick, accurate data to help the customer get to market.
JP: So, we tested three different arrangements for the heat sinks? PK: Yeah. There were two different designs with changes in the density of the fins. Based on the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) and in the lab, the best outcome was having the less dense fins in front for the first two heat sinks and having the denser fin arrays downstream. As we expected, more airflow was able to make it to the back heat sinks and were able to cool them more effectively.
Tumblr media
This graph shows the difference in temperature between the ATS heat sinks at various air flows. (Advanced Thermal Solutions, Inc.)
We were seeing less than a degree difference, especially at higher airflows, between the first heat sink and the last and that was pretty impressive. That configuration also provided the lowest temperature for the final two QSFP. Those are going to be the limiting factors; they’re going to be the highest temperature components no matter what since they’re receiving preheated air. That’s why it’s important to minimize the preheated air and maximize the airflow downstream by designing shorter, low fin-density heat sinks upstream.
If you put a dense heat sink up front, you’re going to restrict airflow downstream and you’re going to pull more heat out of the component because it is a better heat sink. With this you’re going to dump more heat into the air and send it to the downstream QSFP. So, it is worth keeping some heat in the upstream components, which has a double effect of keeping all of the QSFP temperatures as isothermal as possible. As long as the upstream components aren’t going over the case temperature of the last component, then you’re fine.
RO: It’s almost counter-intuitive. The general thermal design says to pull as much heat away from the component as quickly as possible and dissipate it, but you’re saying it was better to leave some of the heat in place. PK: For the upstream QSFP, absolutely. There is margin because it is receiving so much fresh air.
That is really because we’re working in a system environment where choices upstream affect the airflow downstream. If it wasn’t a system and you’re looking at a single component, then sure you want to get rid of all the heat. And again, leaving heat in also allows the QSFP components to be as isothermal as possible.
JP: It sounds like it worked the way that you expected going in? PK: Yeah it did. I’m not going to sit here and pretend it always happens that way but what we thought would happen did happen and we were able to design it analytically before we went into CFD and testing.
JP: Were there certain calculations that you use when working with a system? PK: We can look at the fan curve. Each heat sink has its own pressure drop and the way you use a fan curve is to analyze the four heat sinks, add the pressure drops together, and then examine the fan curve (the amount of airflow varies with the pressure that the fan sees) with the higher the pressure, the less airflow. So, we’re able to estimate the amount of airflow across the system based on the total pressure drop.
We also use Q=mCpΔT and that way we can determine, based on the amount of power coming from the component, what is the air temperature that is leaving the heat sink. It is a little conservative because we’re saying that all of the heat is going into the next heat sink, which isn’t true because a little is escaping to other locations, but being conservative doesn’t make a difference when comparing designs.
Analyzing the airflow into each heat sink and the temperature into each heat sink lets us know what we have to design for; just because you’re putting more surface area doesn’t mean you have a good solution.
RO: This is a good example of how thermal management is more than just removing the heat, but also analyzing how the heat travels and thinking about it as a system. It’s much more complicated.
JP: How important is for ATS to be able to see potential thermal challenges in new technology, like this, and work through the problem even if it isn’t for a specific design or customer? PK: It always helps to have more experience. It’s knowledge for the future. We’ve already seen it, we’ve already dealt with it, and we can save time and cost for the customer.
Whenever we run into this issue, we can say we tested that in the lab and explain the solution that we found. We don’t need to do more analysis, but provide the customer with a solution.

Watch The Best Movies At Home
Alex is practically similar to each other youthful school kid out there nowadays: He has a telephone, and he knows how to utilize it. So when he at last gets Addie's attention—a young lady who is, well, essentially the cutest young lady in the entire school—he knows he needs to put his best advanced foot forward.
With assurance, Alex examines his emoji rundown to discover only the correct image to express his clever fun side while as yet being, you know, calmly cool. He sets up his message and connects for the ideal emoticon and …
… inside his telephone, down somewhere down in the city of Textopolis where each one of those emojis live, there's something of a frenzy going on. This is the principal day of work for Gene, a sprouting youthful emoji in the Meh family. He's resolved to be an extraordinary Meh, much the same as his dad, Mel, and his mother, Mary.
Tumblr media
In any case, as Alex hits the Meh image and the telephone tech starts its examining procedure to catch an ideal picture of Gene, the unpracticed Meh overcompensates. What's more, that is an issue. All things considered, emoji should be precisely what they are. On the off chance that they're a smiley confront, they smile constantly. On the off chance that they're a crap emoji, they're generally the ideal dab of darker, dessert like whirl.
Quality, be that as it may, is nobody trap emoji. He can express an extensive variety of feelings. It shouldn't be that way, but rather he can't help himself. Thus, when his minute comes, rather than looking appropriately exhausted, Gene's Meh confront goes out resembling a mix of frenzy, aversion and perhaps only a dash of nausea.
Pretty Addie gets the message and takes a gander at 123movies with a curious articulation. Also, at that time Alex acknowledges what he some way or another simply sent to the cutest of cutes and moans in dissatisfaction. "Gracious, man," he considers, "I've gotta get this stupid telephone looked at."
Obviously, as Alex makes an arrangement to meet with the specialists at the telephone store, everybody in Textopolis acknowledges with a stun this could be the end for them all. Due to Gene's absurd mix-up, they could all be wiped clean. Perhaps on the off chance that they could just erase Gene, Alex would disregard this little slip-up.
Be that as it may, Gene wouldn't like to be erased. Nor does he need to be the impetus for a disastrous telephone wipe either. There's just a single arrangement: He'll some way or another have advance through the telephone to a legendary land known as … The Cloud. Doubtlessly there he can be reinvented to end up noticeably the profitable, uni-emotive Meh he was destined to be.
He can at long last be freed of all his other annoying feelings.
What's more, he can spare the emoji world.
POSITIVE ELEMENTS
Quality needs to make the best decision and to discover his motivation. Also, however the head emoji, Smiley, conveys ruinous bots to dispose of him, Gene isn't annoyed with whatever remains of the emoji world. He simply needs to settle things, if conceivable. In spite of the fact that he wouldn't really like to be emotionless, he would rather do that and turn into a profitable individual from society than hurt others with his normally chipper, uh, emoji-nality.
Newly discovered companions Hi-5 and Jailbreak are resolved to help Gene. Furthermore, they place themselves in threat to enable the expressive person to discover his way through the telephone's applications and make it to The Cloud. While there, they plan to get a bit of reinventing themselves. Hello there 5, a hand emoji, needs to end up noticeably prominent once more, while Jailbreak needs to make something a greater amount of herself (past being the princess emoji that she's stowing away underneath a wig and scruffy garments).
At first, Hi-5 is likewise persuaded that beneficial individuals from the telephone group just need "likes" and "fans." But he in the end understands that companions are much more imperative. Truth be told, Gene wholes things up subsequent to being informed that he needs to just watch out for #1. "What's so great about being #1 if there aren't some other numbers?" he inquires.
Quality's mother and father, as far as concerns them, are very worried about their battling child. So they find a way to secure Gene and express their adoration to him. Truth be told, Mel Meh points the finger at himself for his child's inconveniences: He concedes he's occasionally attempted to express his own feelings, as well.
At last, this gaggle of shorthand images understands that life is loaded with profitable feelings. An emoji doesn't need to be only one foreordained feeling. What's more, the film instructs, we should all endeavor to be simply the best form—either as an emoji or as a human—that we can be.
An Instagram application pic of Alex and his folks demonstrates them embracing and getting a charge out of an excursion together. Quality's mother and father, who've been contending, reconnect while investigating one of those photographs and apologize for a contradiction, communicating their affection for each other.
Profound CONTENT
A villain emoji gets into the activity and tries to make a weak dirty joke. However, Poop lets him know, "Point higher, Steven." When Gene and Jailbreak act the hero Hi-5 from the telephone's waste container, he confuses them for holy messengers coming to take him to an advanced eternity.
---------------------------------------------- A few occupations are less demanding than others. Simply ask Major Valerian, a specialist of Earth's World State Federation in the 28th century: He never gets the simple ones.
The present task, for example? Going through Exo Space with new accomplice Sergeant Laureline to the betray vacationer planet Kyrian looking for a supposed converter: a little, adorable, dragonish animal that, when it eats something, discharges correct copies of the same. Heaps of them. Put in precious stones, and many sparkling, cut carats fly out of the posterior of the thing, instantly. It's not hard to comprehend why the little beastie—as far as anyone knows the remnant of a dying breed—is desired by all way of not really pleasant intergalactic substances.
To recover it, Valerian should wear extraordinary glasses and a boxlike contraption that empowers him to enter a parallel measurement while Lauraline guides him back.
In spite of being sought after in two unique measurements by revolting outsiders and a considerably uglier puppy like beast, Valerian and Laureline figure out how to grab the converter … a charming lil' fellow that turns out to be of much more noteworthy significance than both of them understand.
What's more, that is recently the start of their bewildering, excited experience.
Valerian and Laureline soon go to the coasting space state Alpha—referred to informally as the City of a Thousand Planets—apparently to convey the converter to the man in control there, Commander Filitt. They're likewise entrusted with shielding him from hostiles who might need to get their hands (or hooks or appendages or additional dimensional atoms) on the converter themselves.
In any case, once they touch base on Alpha—an always advancing world that is home to different biological systems, a huge number of outsider species and somewhere in the range of 30 million tenants—Valerian and Laureline start to speculate that the man they answer to isn't coming clean about … well, something. Something obviously identified with the converter, which Laureline chooses to clutch herself.
As they take after signs about what's truly occurrence, Valerian and Laureline find a conceal of planetary extents. It includes a race of ethereal, human-like outsiders known as the Pearl whose home universe of Mul was crushed in a fight approximately 30 years prior. Just a modest bunch remain. What's more, in the event that they're ever really going to flourish again as an animal types, they will require their converter back.
A similar little mythical beast that apparently everybody on Alpha is wildly searching for.
POSITIVE ELEMENTS
Valerian and Laureline are scrupulous, reliable operators of the World State Federation. They're great at their employments, and they'll do pretty much anything—including taking a chance with their lives—to see a mission through to consummation. They're additionally comparably faithful to each other—to such an extent, indeed, that Valerian over and over seeks after a sentimental and even conjugal association with Laureline (more on that beneath). They're compelled to safeguard each other much of the time. As it turns out to be increasingly evident that the Commander is very brave mysteries, the combine goes up against him about his wrongdoings. (It's undeniable to the gathering of people from the practically the starting that he's an awful person, however characters in the film don't find that fact so rapidly.)
Valerian in the long run needs to settle on a decision between following requests and helping the Pearl species make a new, new begin. Laureline must persuade him that the cherishing choice is to help the outsider race, not adhere to the guidelines. "You truly don't comprehend what cherish is," she rebukes him. "Love is more effective than whatever else." Once he concurs, Laureline tells the Pearls, "We [human beings] are to be faulted for the loss of your planet. Furthermore, we'd be regarded to enable you to get it back."
Mul is portrayed as a tranquil, unsullied heaven where the Pearl individuals live in culminate amicability with each other and their condition. A contention amongst people and another unidentified outsider gathering brings about the obliteration of Mul. All things considered, people are delineated as defilers of the Pearl's already immaculate and unadulterated human progress.
Somewhere else in the film, Valerian meets female shapeshifter Bubbles (played by artist Rihanna) who helps Valerian in his journey. En route, Valerian certifies her esteem and character separated from the "work" she's basically compelled to do. What's more, she chivalrously enables Valerian to save Laureline from outsiders.
Otherworldly CONTENT
We see a Pearl religious ceremony (which is performed three times every year, we learn later) in which a young lady bolsters the converter a—sit tight for it—monster pearl, which prompts the animal to discharge numerous more again into a mysterious well. As this happens, we hear a supplication of sorts: "Let us offer back to nature that which she provided for us."
At the point when a Pearl bites the dust, the soul of that being is scattered in a flood of vitality over the universe and time as it looks for a commendable host to dwell in after death. The girl of the Pearl head is murdered in an impact right on time in the film, and she takes asylum inside Valerian, which he doesn't know at first. When he at long last makes sense of it, he tells Laureline, "The princess, she's controlling me." To which Laureline reacts, "You've had a lady inside you since the start?"
The Pearl illustrious couple can see the spooky type of their girl inside Valerian. One lets him know, "[She] picked you to be the watchman of her spirit." Later we likewise hear that the perished princess is going to pass on to some last otherworldly rest. "Our girl settled on a decent decision. She can rest in peace now."
Somebody says, "Godspeed."

Hey everyone. For anyone wondering where I’ve been or what’s been happening with me, I’m going to put an explanation under the cut. I have some commentary on these experiences to go along with it which is strictly intra-trans lesbian, so for that reason, do not read unless you yourself are a trans lesbian, thank you.
Tw: a lot of things, I don’t really have the energy or means to specify
So, a lot has happened to me over these past few months. As some people know I was kicked out of the house I had been living in for the past year, and as a result my girlfriend and I almost wound up homeless during one of the most extremely cold winters in the state’s history.
On top of that, because I use state insurance, I can not have my hormones mailed to me, and since my only means of transportation was through the people I used to live with, and because the nearest pharmacy that carries them is restrictively far away, I’ve been off HRT since Nov, and due to complications I was unable to get my passport info changed before the inauguration, so needless to say my transition has more or less halted for the time being, which has been incredibly difficult to cope with physically, mentally, and emotionally.
However, what has kept me offline and isolated even from my closest circle of friends is the fact that back in December, I was sexually assaulted. What makes this especially traumatic was that it was by another trans woman, and furthermore it was done by taking advantage of my dedication toward providing safety and comfort to other trans women.
As anyone who has talked with me at length about praxis can tell you, I have long tried to develop a practice of healing in order to counterbalance what I consider a call to politically weaponize trans women, something which I consider unsustainable, especially without some women willing to play the role of healers and nurturers to help keep those who choose to fight going.
I was called to this person’s house because they felt if they were left alone, they would attempt suicide, and so I offered to stay with them until we could connect them with the necessary aid services to help them through their crisis, but since it was late, I ended up staying the night, intending to go with them to seek help the next morning.
However, at some point in the night, they asked me to come lie down with them, because they didn’t want to be alone, which I consented to, but shortly after that, they began explaining to me in graphic detail how they intended to kill themselves if they went through with it, and then they began engaging physical contact with me that I was not comfortable with, but when I attempted to address this, they essentially told me that if I did not consent to sex with them, they would likely kill themselves.
So, I “consented”, but it was in no way a willing consent, and I have struggled to put a name to it, but the fact is that the consent was coerced, essentially holding themself hostage, knowing I couldn’t say no if the terms were laid out as such, and so I have no other words for what happened except coercive sexual assault. I haven’t talked about this at all because I frankly couldn’t believe it until I had a breakdown a few weeks ago and talked through it with my girlfriend, and I was finally able to call this what it is.
Alongside this, as a result of the election, I had made an effort to try to build more connections with other trans women in preparation for the impendingly bleak political climate. What I got in return was a deluge of unsolicited attempts to engage me in sexual contact. I am a CSA survivor, something I have been very open about on this blog, so anyone who has followed me for more than, like, a month should know that, and thus should at least have some sense of how it affects my ability to navigate sexual situations.
Despite this, even when expressing my discomfort, it only keeps it at bay for a very brief time before I’m again inundated with unsolicited nudes and requests to sext/roleplay. I shouldn’t have to assert this, but if you have not invested in someone enough to learn and respect their comfort levels wrt sexual interaction, you certainly are not invested enough to be attempting to engage with them in that sort of manner, especially w/o prior consent.
So now, everytime I think about hopping on Skype, or Discord, or Tumblr, I feel like I’m going to vomit, because somehow I, a hardly d-list trans tumblogger, have somehow presented myself in a way that makes other trans women believe they are entitled to me sexually. To make matters worse, it’s also frequently justified by appealing to my expressed desire to be open and helpful and supportive of other trans women, but that doesn’t mean you can just demand access to my body or my sexuality because it is in some way helpful or reaffirming.
Now, in my heart of hearts, and likely I am naive in feeling this way, but I want to believe this has all been done out of desperation, rather than malice, on the part of those responsible because we are all profoundly hurting, and sometimes, when people hurt, they will justify to themselves hurting others if it alleviates some of that unbearable pain, but there are better alternatives to what is a horrific trend I have long observed from the outside which I have now been dragged into.
This is where I switch to discourse mode, because discoursing is what I do to channel pain and trauma, it’s why I was going off about anything and everything despite not talking to my friends in private these past few months, because when I hurt, I talk about shit in an analytical fashion in an attempt to distance myself from it emotionally.
We are a community of women who are frequently made to feel ugly, disgusting, and worthless, and for many of us, myself included, one of the best ways to work through a lot of that is sex. However, for some there seems to be this assumption that, because of this shared experience, that trans women are entitled to other trans women’s bodies, or that there is some sort of moral impetus for us to make our bodies available to each other, and I shouldn’t need to explain why that is profoundly misguided, but here we are.
We constantly pass around memes which tell us we are valid, that our desire for other trans women is not predatory or creepy, but what we should be clarifying is that that desire is not inherently so, because some seem to have taken this to mean that trans women’s desire for other trans women can’t be so. Suffice to say, if you are using the threat of suicide in order to coerce another trans woman to have sex with you, that is creepy, and it is absolutely predatory. Regardless of whatever emotional suffering you are going through, it is not the job of other trans women to lay themselves out for you so you can use them to work out your own miseries and pains.
As both a csa survivor and a psychotic, I’ve had to learn that frequently you need to seek out people with both relatable trauma and also coping mechanisms which are compatible with yours. If exchanging nudes helps you cope, exchange them with someone who copes in the same way. If you fuck to cope, find someone else who does the same and (once you have their enthusiastic consent) fuck them. But don’t drag people for whom sex is a complicated thing that requires disclosure and negotiation into your coping strategy, leaving you fulfilled but them devastated in the process.
Frankly, we all need to work on finding ways we can relate intimately that don’t eventually default to talking about our sex lives. I love to talk about the games/anime I watch/play, followed by poltics and theory shit with magick and occult shit close behind, then probably food, and then maybe sex, but in interacting almost exclusively with other trans women, I find that order literally reversed, so like, I was tired of talking about how other trans women fuck even before this happened, but frequently it’s the only thing a lot of us seem to want to talk about with each other, and again, this comes from the frequently violent suppression of our sexualities, but like, invest in people first before you start going off about what your fetishes are, or how you masturbate, because for some people, that’s not shit we want to hear from people who we aren’t intimately involved with.
Finally, and this is something I’ve said for a while, we really need to dispel this notion that, like, every other trans woman is automatically worthy of your trust. Like, I’m pushing 30 now, by several metrics I’m passed my sell-by date, so please listen to me when I say this. Other trans women may share your experiences, they’ll likely be capable of a nuanced understanding of your struggles, and they may be able to offer a deep and abiding connection you can’t get from people outside of these experiences, but never forget every trans woman is an individual.
Some of us go through all the shit that tends to happen to girls like us and we come out with hearts of gold, others go through it and turn into twisted, conniving, and manipulative people, just like any other population of people. As trans women we are vulnerable, and we need to be able to turn to each other for help and support, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be vigilant in looking out for ourselves and being wary of others because anyone can prey on that vulnerability, man or woman, cis or trans, and we need to be able to admit that that danger exists, and develop reasonable ways of protecting ourselves, rather than existing in the extremes of innocent and all-trusting or jaded and isolated.
All that being said, I don’t know if this means I’ll be coming back to Tumblr anytime soon. I need to first work on reconnecting with partners and close friends whose lives I disappeared from as a result of all this. If you’ve read this far (and assuming you aren’t a non-tw who ignored the request at the beginning of this post) thank you for reading, and I hope that any of this gets through because this is something I’ve seen happen in this community time and time again, and wasn’t able to understand why until it happened to me. We need to be better to each other, now more than ever.

Covid, the nation, and the left
As we work to shape the ‘new normal’, the left must be the voice of those who kept the nation going during these difficult times, and must condemn those who pursued their own interests. (Posted on Policy Network, 9.9.20)
It’s a paradox that the global health and economic disaster of COVID-19 is being understood as a series of national experiences. A disease that is killing people everywhere is judged more by its impact on individual countries than by its toll on humanity as a whole. When political systems and institutions come under stress they reveal a great deal about the deepest and most visceral instincts of the public and politicians. The response to COVID-19 leaves no doubt that it is the nation, and not internationalism, to which most turn. We expect our national governments, not our international institutions, to lead even in response to the most internationalised crisis for 80 years. Publics have looked to national leaders to deliver on public health, oversee prudent lockdowns (and relaxation), sustain health and care services, to control borders, and to foster economic recovery. We may look at what others are doing but haven’t wanted to be coordinated by or with others if it does not suit our national circumstances.
The left cannot ignore this primacy of the nation. It won’t go away once the ‘new normal’ is established, whenever that may be. Any hopes that the shock of COVID-19 will give impetus to the urgent measures needed to avert climate disaster or reshape our economies rest on the left’s ability to get progressive national politics right. Of course, the weakness of international cooperation is a disaster. We are suffering through the worst leaders of major powers in many generations. The malign incompetence of President Trump and the aggressive and illiberal assertion of Chinese power under President Xi provide an umbrella under which a host of ‘mini-me populists’ govern the likes of Russia, Turkey, Hungary and many other places besides. International cooperation is undermined and the UN side-lined. Even the EU which stands out as a better managed international organisation than most, and which broke new ground in its financial support package, has struggled to lead the COVID-19 response within Europe let alone outside.
International institutions will have to be rebuilt but this can’t happen without a foundation of nations that are themselves self-confident and cohesive. The generation of political leaders who might renew internationalism will come from those who are successful in rooting progressive politics in their own nation, not from those who look to internationalism to solve problems that have been neglected at home.
I write from Britain and with an English perspective. Our domestic politics are shaped by the relative autonomy of devolved national governments and the constitutional anomaly whereby England has no domestic administration but is run by the UK government. England’s disastrous record under COVID-19, with the highest excess death rate in Europe, inevitably colours my perspective. But so far as I can see, the importance of the national level applies to most European nations, however successfully or unsuccessfully they have responded, and to reflect the politics of America. COVID-19 may either cut across or reinforce existing political divisions in ways that are particular to each nation.
COVID-19’s political impact will go far beyond the reassertion of the national priority in politics. Because COVID-19 touches all our lives it will inevitably change the way that people view their nations. The importance of previously ‘taken for granted’ workers (not just in health and social care but in distribution, retail, basic environmental services, public transport workers – many of whom have suffered the highest death rates), has been brought home to the more comfortable parts of society. But this unifying impact is also undermined by the extent to which it highlights inequalities in relation to health status, job security, housing adequacy, migration status, and ethnicity. The COVID-19 response has exposed the (in)competence of administrations and technocracies and the inadequacies of social welfare systems and has either built or eroded trust in politicians and political systems depending on how public policy responses played out for people.
How well we have sustained our compliance with lockdown measures provides a test of our social cohesion, and highlights some of the areas where things are beginning to fray. Nations that seemed to pull together three months ago may still yet divide fractiously between young and old, urban and rural, and majority and minority communities.
The left’s response faces many challenges. If we treats COVID-19 simply as an apolitical technocratic issue that simply requires sound policy responses, we will play into the hands of those who want to defend the status quo. Political leaders like Boris Johnson in the UK will wash their hands of governmental failings or the fissures in our nations and be quick to claim, ‘we were all in it together and we came through it together’.
On the other hand, a progressive agenda requires careful construction. Within weeks of the pandemic striking progressive websites were full of blogs explaining why ‘things must never be the same again’. The harsh mirror that COVID-19 has held up to our nations has reinforced the left’s belief that this must be a turning point moment that shifts our economics and societies towards sustainability and equity. But to make that happen the left must win in nations where it currently lacks power or popular support. In 2008, when the left was more widely in power than it is today, the banking crisis did not trigger the left turn that was widely anticipated. (It informed much of the thinking of Labour leader Ed Miliband, for example). Instead it exposed the widespread weakness of the left and saw the rise of national populism. Even though many voters were well aware that the banks had been rescued at the cost of the majority, much of the left was deaf to popular concerns around the political marginalisation of working class communities, the impact of migration, and the remoteness of the political class. The growing gap between the more middle class and cosmopolitan base of the left and much of its traditional electorate became clear.
Today’s radical voices for change face the the same constraints. Telling each other that COVID-19 proves that we’ve always been right about capitalism is not a political strategy. In many ways the global left has become more interconnected than ever before while becoming less well-integrated in its own national politics. Events in US politics often prompt a more excited response in the European left than issues in domestic national politics. In the UK demands to ‘de-fund’ the police suddenly gained support from a metropolitan left that just a few months before was supporting Corbyn’s demand for 10,000 more police officers. The proposal for a new ‘Green New Deal’ generates more excitement when proposed by radical US Democrats than it did when put forward nearly ten years ago by Ed Miliband. There is a real danger that a homogenised international left agenda gets in the way of a genuinely rooted left response to the particular problems of each nation.
The left’s support is weak in those sections of society that have been hit hardest by the pandemic and its aftermath. For many of those people the fastest route to recovery will appear to be the restoration of the economy to the way that it was before, with its full carbon intensity, consumption and waste. In the maw of a global recession, it is understandable why people would focus on ‘getting back to normal’ rather than on any radical new way of ordering society and of doing business. Indeed, this ‘conservatism’ is not reactionary but is to be expected, given the very immediate impacts of crisis.
Progressives need a clear explanation of where the existing structures of government and institutions of economic power succeeded and where they failed. We will need to draw a distinction between how the people have responded with solidarity and discipline and the failures of those in power, between those who kept the nation going and those who pursued their own interests, and between the interests of the nation and governments whose corporate support outstripped the support for the vulnerable.
A progressive left strategy needs to be rooted in the experience of each nation. The left needs to tell a narrative about what happened, the impact it had on different sections of society, and what it told us about the nation we live in. Our critique needs to be focused, not generalised. It needs to draw the links between the problems that have been exposed and the wider public interest, for example: where food security depended on migrant workers, many of whom were living and working in unhealthy conditions; where the living standards of the poorest became a health threat to the wider public; and where online shopping giants have grown rich despite their continued dangerous exploitation of their staff.
But it needs to be a unifying story, rooted in the possibility of a better future for the majority. While the left must respond to both the disproportionate health impact of COVID-19 on BAME communities and the wider issues of racism highlighted by the Black Lives Matter movement, our national stories must clearly embrace all those who have suffered the economic and social consequences of the crisis. In other words, the left’s narrative must be about the nation and engage with national identity. As we work to shape the ‘new normal’ is going to be, the left must be the voice of those who kept the nation going during these difficult times and must condemn those who pursued their own interests.
At the same time, we should also show that we understand why the desire for economic security may come ahead of demands for radical change and we must avoid substituting our agenda for theirs. In the short term we should concentrate on consolidating those changes – for example towards flexible working practices and building on the outburst of mutual aid and solidarity – that the pandemic has opened up and on winning effective responses to those facing unemployment or social exclusion as economies struggle to recover from recession. By winning trust with these foundational issues it will become easier to build an audience for the wider and more radical (and more internationalist) changes that are undoubtedly necessary in our modern world.
