In retrospect, "The Limo" feels both like a good and a disappointing episode
It's good on its own. It's disappointing when you look at it in the bigger picture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something that was set up at the beginning of the series (both in the show and in some author's posts) was that Panda was NOT a great person and as such he didn't deserve a girlfriend "at least not yet". He's selfish, his obsession with romance and girls is unhealthy and sometimes creepy, he initially doesn't consider others feelings when he can gain something for himself. Through all the series, he wasn't in his best behavior with Lucy, so to me it's honestly a good thing he didn't end up with her, because he didn't deserve it. And the conclusion of their story in "The Limo" has also the potential to teach that it doesn't matter how much time and how desperately you've pined over someone, you're not entitled to them and they can make their own choiches. Sounds cool, right?
The problem is that Panda barely develops though the show.
He was supposed to learn how to become a better person but he was just... Stuck to repeat the same lesson. Panda acts selfish -> bad things happen -> "oh I shouldn't have done that!" -> he's forgiven and everyone is happy -> he still acts selfish and inconsiderate next time.
At the end of "The Limo" Panda should have finally gained a healthier approach to girls and romance. I'm not saying he should have got a girlfriend (to be honest I was really worried that the wbb movie would have paired him with a random girl just because it was the last occasion, glad they didn't do it) but at least, I think, they should have showed that he learned something from his experiences.
Yet in "Bros City", a bunch of episodes later, he's doing the same stuff: he crushes hard for a stranger, he feels entitled to her (does the whole "I saw her first" and "you stole her from me" to Tom), he acts uncomfortable around them and sabotages Tom's chance. He learnt nothing. So... What was the point of Lucy's character and story then?
Tumblr media
WBB has amazing episodes on its own, but they kinda fall flat when you look at the series in its entirety, because some characters arcs just go nowhere or get resetted and I mostly have this problem with Panda (I know the series was cancelled, but with four seasons there was enough room for that).
((ok, I have big problems with how Nom Nom was handled too but he's kinda his own peculiar case lol))
Someone could say that a slice of life show doesn't need continuity and characters development, but I don't fully agree with that. We got amazing modern slice of life cartoons with well done character development and well... Of course when you don't have a real plot, the characters and their interactions are the heart and whole body of the series, what would shine the most, so /of course/ it will eventually be frustrating to watch them being stucked with doing the same things over and over... And I mean... If wbb was really meant to be a show to watch with no expectation because the universe just resets at the end of every episode... then that would have been fine, sure. But they clearly tried to set up lot of small overarching subplots and developments so, what's the excuse?
I adore this show to bits but I'm not gonna lie to myself and say there aren't some flaws and wasted potential there and there (let's be honest, discussing what you love is usually more exciting than focusing on crappy stuff lol)
Anyway stan T-Pain

“Professional” white women have disrespected Angel Reese and told her to “shrink don’t shine” ever since she was in high school
Tumblr media
“I was sleeping when she came into my bedroom at about 11:30, and she was really upset,” her mother, also Angel Reese, recalled. “Then she showed me why.”
The 17-year-old Reese had become unnerved after seeing comments about her on a social media post.
Overtime women’s basketball Instagram page had posted a video clip praising Reese on Tuesday. But that post prompted the user of the Instagram account of an opposing coach to send a direct message to the Overtime WBB page, criticizing Reese and claiming her success was because she was “genetically blessed.”
Chloe Pavlech, who curates much of the Overtime women’s basketball content, was going through the messages when she discovered the message:
“Celebrating a player (w god given height and talent) and zero humility or impulse control. As a female coach of female high school ballers, I find this behavior repulsive, unacceptable, unflattering and unnecessary. You can have swag while not acting like a punk. Highlight some other girls in the conference who aren’t as genetically gifted …”
Pavlech found a second direct message from the coach’s account in response to a different video in December celebrating Reese:
“She’s not the greatest player that’s ever come out of this area. She’s genetically blessed. And lacks any humility. Guess you haven’t watched the film of her…”

not acting like a punk.
Guess you haven’t watched the film of her…”
The area that was whited out (by Pavlech) is the coach referencing a fight that Reese was involved in during a scrimmage last season against a non-league opponent, an altercation that earned her a three-game suspension.
“Angel had to apologize in front of the student body, and she’s played this year knowing if anything else happened she’d be off the team for the year,” her mother said. “People come at her, but she plays at a college level against high school girls. When she steps on the court she doesn’t hold back. She’s going to go at you until you sit down.”
Pavlech took a screenshot of both messages from the coach and posted them on her personal Overtime Instagram page (that post, as seen above, has since been removed). Pavlech included her own message at the top of her Tuesday post: “Why do women try to tear down young girls?”
“I was shocked that an adult — especially a coach — would be talking about a young girl in that manner,” Pavlech said. “The context of those remarks was also surprising; she was DMing in response to a very positive video Overtime WBB had posted about one of the country’s most gifted young talents.”
The direct messages came from the Instagram account of Lisa Smith, who, as of Thursday morning, was listed as the head coach of Archbishop Spalding High School girls basketball team. Later Thursday, Smith’s name had been removed from the site, with athletic director Jeffrey Parsons now listed as the current head coach of the girls team.

you see I knew you were gonna run to the emotional response bc of how much I wrote lol I didn't know how to get my point across in less words I don't hate sabrina nor does she get under my skin I actually got back into wbb because of her several years back, I think y'all just driving home a point that's nonexistent when it comes to her
You're right that Sabrina is not an underrated underdog. She's got a signature shoe and everything. But she has such a high profile that she gets a lot of unwarranted criticism even from other players.
And even from me! I criticized her a lot because she would come to Seattle and half the crowd would be Ducks fans. As a Storm fan, I found that whole situation annoying. I wanted the Storm to give her Ducks fans nothing to cheer about. But also, she sold a lot of tickets and made money for the Storm franchise. She did grow the game in that way. And I think she's lived up to her college career.

The lack of self awareness of Grizznom shippers has always baffled me. Shippers that romanticize abuse and toxicity by denying it and sweeping it under the rug can already be unnerving enough but they go even beyond that. Like, they obviously don't care about Grizz at all. They just see him a tool to make Nom Nom happy because "he's sooo sad and lonely, he deserves it:(((". They don't care, otherwise it doesn't make sense to look at a guy that struggles with insecurity, bottles up negativity because he must be "the supportive one" and is still kind to jerks despite being uncomfortable and go "ah yes, I will ship him with the dude that constantly tries to use, belittle, humiliate him and was more than ok with getting him killed for a video, made the police hunt him down for a crab, and never tried to apologize to him and his family he also hurted, this ship is soooo healthy and wholesome💕💕💕"

Love tkof and I don't even watch Riverdale , have been obsessing over it for a long time and can't wait for the sequel.I know you're probably still working on tkof but if u don't mind could u give an insight into the sequel
I also don't watch Riverdale so we have that in common 😂 I actually never knew how the story would read to someone coming in without any prior attachment to these characters (since it's do densely focused on them, you know?) and it's rad to hear that it drew you in anyway!
SEQUEL'S GOING TO BE A BLAST TO WRITE! I think at this point, anyone who follows me on here has a pretty good idea that TKOF isn't going to have a particularly happy ending, so the sequel (What's Brooklyn Between Strangers) is picking up five years later when all that tension/chaos/misunderstanding has had five years to fester without any real resolution. Veronica's kind of reinvented herself in NYC and is tirelessly working her way from the ground up at an exclusive literary agency, and Jughead's something of a critical darling in San Francisco, hot off the heels of his first novel and getting lured by publishers and agents across the country for his next one.
It's a bit of a powder keg and I think it's going to be really fun to play with that intensity and have it humming just under the surface for as long as they can manage before it starts boiling over. It's not an intentional reunion and it's rattling to both of them and there's definitely resent there, more so on one side than the other, but there's also everything else between them still there, too.
That said, I think the overall mood of WBBS might be a little brighter, at least eventually. TKOF was kind a of a right person, wrong time situation, and there was too much messiness and too many lines being crossed for it to just neatly tie up at the end, you know? WBBS is kind of like 'okay, what happens when all of that is irrelevant now and it's just you and me and all the things we were never allowed to feel/say?' Which isn't to say their history doesn't play a big obstacle, because it does, and there's a lot of truly messy/fucked up moments toward the beginning because of it, but I think they actually get the chance to really know each other in WBBS, whether they mean to or not. The more they have to work together, they more they slip into something easy and familiar and discover who they both have turned into over the years. It's also going to be a little more ensemble-y with big roles played by Josie and another character I haven't decided on (probably Kevin, maybe Sweetpea, maybe Reggie). Plus, there's going to be a lot more daytime scenes in the office/parks/cafes/bustling NYC, so I think even setting-wise, it's a little more colorful, lol.
WOW, you did not ask for a dissertation, my bad, I'm ???

Watching her entire career doesn't mean you don't have a bias- it means you like WBB, and bc she played for 20 years, she's a lot of who you saw. And you clearly grew tired of it. Go back and read your posts if you're unsure. But...if you are watching her producer/media moves, then you know her jointly owned company, Togethr, highlights women of all kinds. If you've been watching, then you know she's a powerful champion and ally for LGBQT folks. If you've been watching, then you know she has publicly stated she's aware of her platform and tries to use it for good. You do know who her wife is, right? They do more anti-racist work than most. I'll say it again, if this were Diana, you'd be way less critical. If her and Sue's show next weekend doesn't highlight the stories and players you feel it should, I hope you place the blame on BOTH of them, not just Sue.
I've been in person to a bunch of Sue's regular season games. I was even at one of the Storm championship games. I was rained with the same confetti she was rained with on that night. I've got Sue Bird merch. I've met her. My mom has met her. My middle school math teacher was her neighbor. My step brother actually worked with Sue Bird for a few years.
And she brought four championships to my city.
And now I find it a little odd that she won't wear husky gear to a UConn game. And I find it a little odd that she's boosting Iowa.
So according to you, because I thought a few things were strange, I'm not a fan anymore. Apparently I'm not a fan unless I put Sue on a pedestal. I'm not a fan unless I validate every last thing she does and never disagree with her ever. Is that how fandom works?
If that's what it means to be a fan, then I guess I'm a fan of no one. I guess I don't stan anyone. Maybe I should change my blog title.

I watched we baby bears (the first 2 episodes anyways) today and I have mixed feelings. I personally liked the way the bears looked in the original show, the dot eyes were very simple and cute. But baby bears has absolutely AMAZING animation and colors!!! I also love Ice Bears VA being the narrator so much, makes me so happy. And in typical wbb fashion, the bears were so cute and charming! I was so happy guys you don’t GET IT-
But i also have some, not necessarily criticisms, but things I’m not into. Nitpicks. I was never toooooo into a lot of the baby bears episodes in the original show so I didn’t expect to be crazy about the spin off. I think that it’s much more kiddie than the original was, and that makes sense! I’m not about to complain that the kids show is aimed for kids. I’m just acknowledging that yeah, I might be too old for this one. I also have minor gripes with baby bears giving Panda a phone (the original baby episodes seemed to have taken place in the 70s-80s) and the fact that they’re really into cooking (Ice Bear is the only one who cooks). The only inconsistency I’ll allow is Ice Bear being able to talk, since it would probably piss people off if such a beloved character had no lines during the entire spin off series.
Overall it’s very cute and I had fun, but I’m probably not gonna get too into it

Video
We Bare Bears, a series all about acceptation and find your place in society, ends in the best way possible with a movie with a cliche and mainstream plot that breaks all the stereotypes and give us a GREAT social criticism.
I loved the characters in this movie, but just Grizz got his final development, which is sad and dissapointing, but Panda still got his own, by forcing him to be without his Celly and having to focus on other, more important things. Ice Bear didn’t get development at all, he’s now more realistic but still a fricking ninja.
I would love to see more of Charlie, Lucy, Tabes and of course, Chloe. Maybe they could have this side plot where, while the bears are in the party, they are searching ways for turning things around for Trout. Maybe when the bears are confronting the agent, Chloe and the others finallly found the law that protects animals from direct human harm and abuse, and then they could call Officer Murphy and that could give him enough confidence for finally stand against Trout and go to save the bears. That’d have given us some cool interactions, like Chloe-Charlie, Lucy-Charlie and Lucy-Chloe. In top of that, it’d do nothing but reduce the lenght of the most “fillery” part of the movie (animal party) and would give us our last fanservice by seeing all the efforts the bros did for fit in society, the maximum representant of that; their friends united for saving the bears and achieving their goal, even if they didn’t know that they were a great help.
Also, that scene exists, the ultimate representation of what We Bare Bears really is: ACCEPTANCE
And the whole credit scene is so WHOLESOME that I wanna forget the whole movie just for seeing it again, the pride flag, the cute adorable bears interacting with humans, that scene with the moms at the shopping, the two backgound men that now we know are boyfriends, EVERYTHING!
9,6/10 INCREDIBLE JOB, DANIEL CHONG AND WBB CREW! This movie entered my top 5 favourite movies of all times, and maybe even top 3!
