It’s me again with another Firecest/Watercest Au for ya. I’m glad you liked the other one. I thought I was alone in liking both Zucest and Kacest. And not just one or the other!
The Au goes like this:
Ozai informs Azula that she is set to marry the son of a council administrator (the same boy whose house she burned down on Ember island).
Azula is understandably pissed off and her loyalty to her father begins to shake. Irrevocably so.
Now after Zuko confronts Ozai, he is cornered by imperial guards. Zuko is outnumbered and has resigned himself to go out fighting. Until… he is saved by a blast of blue flame.
Azula takes Zuko’s hand and together the two of them flee the palace, via the air balloon. They pair head to the Western Air temple. Where their alliance with the Gaang is tentatively accepted.
Do you remember that scene where Zuko stumbled on Sokka and Suki doing “the nasty” in canon? In this Au, Zuko stumbles on Sokka and his true love Katara making out.
The water couple try to assure Zuko that they were just practicing “sibling bonding” in order to raise cohesiveness on the battlefield between them. And that they were definitely not in a secret relationship!
Both Katara and Sokka are terrible at lying, so a flabbergasted Zuko decided to walk away. Leaving the Water duo to their activities in Sokka’s tent. Shrugging, Katara and Sokka decide to continue their “sibling bonding”. The night was still young after all.
Zuko goes to his tent and finds Azula there, reading a scroll by the blue glow of her bending. He took about to observe her, which was a mistake because Zuko was (to his shame) temporarily blinded by her beauty and became tounge tied. Thinking about Katara and Sokka’s “sibling bonding” doesn’t exactly help matters”.
He tells her about Sokka and Katara’s “sibling bonding”. Zuko doesn’t see how it could possibly improve their battle readiness. Azula however, immediately understood just what exactly was going on. She was unsurprised that Katara and Sokka finally gave into their feelings for each other. The teasing and hidden meanings behind the water siblings every interaction told her thus. Azula felt a kind camaraderie with the water siblings. They after all have similar feelings for eachother, that Azula had and has for Zuko.
Azula was also pleased with the opening that Katara and Sokka… activities gave her. She suggested to Zuko that the two them should engage in their own fire “sibling bonding”. In the interest of expanding their own Fire sibling battle cohesiveness of course. Azula also refused to be outdone by Katara. If she could act on her long simmering feelings for Sokka. Than Azula could do the same with Zuko.
Zuko was shocked (and not a little intrigued) by Azula’s proposition. He still didn’t see how making out with Azula would improve their battle effectiveness.
They two started kissing. Chaste at first and then gradually more heated. Till Zuko abruptly stopped and asked Azula point plank if this was what she wanted.
Azula then admits her feelings for Zuko. No lies and no holds barred. She waits anxiously for Zuko response and looks anywhere but at him, Zuko instead coups her face, looks deep into her amber eyes (the same as his own) and kisses her.
Zuko then confesses his feelings to Azula and says that if she isn’t scared about how taboo their feelings are, and how the world will react, then he isn’t scared either.
The moans of the Fire siblings and the Water siblings continued long into the night.
Neither incestuous couple expected Toph’s rather merciless teasing in the morning. But her seismic sense told everything that happened last night.
Everything.
Oh, nice idea! Another possibility could be that Azula is the one who has no clue what 'sibling bonding' really was.

I know This blog hasn’t been active for a while, but on the of chance you see this, I wanted to ask something about Urzula.
How would Ursa and Azula get together after the war? At some point several years later. Who makes the first move? How would they get together?
I also wanted to ask your opinion of the Kyatara ship. Which is a sort of canon divergence ship we’re Hakoda is sacrificed instead of Kya and she survives. Which eventually leads to Katara and Kya realizing their feelings for each other some time after the war and getting together. Similar to Urzula in that respect.
What your option on it? Also if your view is favorable on the ship, how do you think Katara and Kya would get together?
To ask a slightly NSFW follow up question,
Who do you think would be the more dominant partner in either ship dynamic (in the bedroom)
They get together almost by accident a few years post war. They feel as if the fire Nation has passed them by at some point. While they both are important figure heads how the end of the war marked them. Ursa’s time in exile marked her as different from her peers in the Fire Nation and she doesn’t relate well to them due to her experiences. Azula is cast aside by Zuko’s regime. So she’s not really a path in and her old friends have abandoned her.
Loneliness leads them to spend more time together. They take vacations and all just as mother and daughter. It’s Azula who makes the first move on ember island, kissing Ursa. Both are horrified and back off, trying to pretend it didn’t happen. Trying desperately to make new associates and maybe lovers. But they float back towards each other, retreat again, but go a little farther each time. Until they stop retreating and stay with the other as girlfriends. Though in secret.
Haven’t thought much on Kya/Katara before. It would work differently then Azula/Ursa. Kya would always be around when Katara was growing up until Katara leaves for her adventure with the Avatar. Probably be about them making mistakes when trying to maximize their limited time together post war. I see Kya staying in the SWT while Katara continues traveling with Aang. So perhaps it’s a bit more of an affair. Katara is with Aang, but in secret her mother as well. Not really a ship for me but I can see it’s appeal.
Ursa is more dominant to Azula. Azula usually starts off strong but quickly cedes to her mother. Ursa is all too happy to makes sure her daughter feels great, but also enjoys telling her what to do. After all Azula is such an obedient girl.
Katara is dominant over Kya. Aang is quite a soft lover so Katara wants some more action in her love making with Kya. Usually doing the things that Aang refuses to do with her.

Azula tempting Katara to seduce Sokka by telling her that the love of a big brother is the sweetest love of all. "Can I tell you a secret? When Zuko and I were young we used to kiss and cuddle all the time. I wonder how you got through those long cold nights, could it be that you had Sokka's big strong arms around you? I don't even ship Watercest, but I looooove the idea of Azula shipping them because she just cannot wrap her head around the idea that not all siblings that are close in age are secretly in love.

But what about the existence of fic writers and artists who create detailed works of art that don't explicitly condemn shit like Zucest, Ozula, Watercest (Sokka/Katara), (abusive) Tyzula, (abusive) Maizula, or (abusive) Maizulee, or at least depict those relationships as toxic? Or worse, depict those relationships as being healthy?
Other those insistences just amusing in-jokes as well?
The quote you are using was in reference to someone trying to say Grey DeLisle is actively encouraging incest and abuse by shipping Tyzula and Zuko x Azula. My point is that she is doing it just for the hell of it and doesn't take it seriously, and that these are fictional characters anyway. Taking what I'm saying out of context does not mean I support people doing what you're saying. In fact, the quote itself is enough to show I don't.
The only time I would ever bring real-life implications into a cartoon character analysis is when others do it first. There have been plenty of people that are like "if you ship Kataang then you support abuse IRL," to which I'd respond with something pointing out that based on that logic Zutara shippers are supporting a lot of bad things. I only use the boundaries people set for themselves when proving them wrong and clowning them. They're the ones moving the goalposts.
The difference here lies in people shipping the characters just because they like them and/or their aesthetic, and the people who ship them while defending the abuse. Grey is not defending the abuse. It's basically never brought up. There are people that definitely do, and they might suck, but we also can't assume just because they're saying that in reference to some cartoon characters that they support it 100% in a real life situation.
TLDR is that you can ship anyone as long as you're aware it's not serious and you understand the difference between fiction and reality. The people who can't separate the two are the ones causing the most issues, whether it's trying to call out people for "problematic" ships or using fictional ships to mirror bad real-life behavior.

I’ve got a Zucest/Kacest idea I wanted to run by ya.
Say during a battle in the chase Azula, Zuko, Katara, and Sokka are battling while Aang is fighting Mai and Ty Lee. The 4 suddenly fight near a cave. In this cave they accidentally disturb a spirit. The spirit pissed off to all hell sends them into the spirit world.
So now, the Fire/Water siblings have to go on life changing adventure while working together to escape the spirit world and get back home.
Over the course of the story we find that Azula is jealous of Zuko and Mai’s relationship. Katara is jealous of Sokka and Suki’s/Yue’s relationship. Neither master bender quite understand their feelings. This a journey of realization and giving into desires.
Various spirits play tricks and pranks on Katara and Azula to get them to 1 realize their feelings and 2 accept them. Both Zuko and Sokka remain complete oblivious to Azula and Katara’s feelings though.
The 4 also find moon spirit Yue while wondering the spirit world. As a powerful spirt Yue is able to exist simultaneously in both the world and spirit world. As a fish and a spirit. Her presence reignites Katara’s jealousy. Yue points the quartet words a portal that can take the 4 of them home. The Fire/Water 4 decide to stay for the night.
Yue talks to Sokka and Zuko on the night. In her talk with Sokka she tells him he needs to “move on from her” and go after where his head truly lies. Yue gets Sokka to realize and accept his feelings for Katara.
Yue also talks about the siege of the north with Zuko. The conversation is a heavy one, it leads to Zuko apologizing for his involvement during the siege. Specifically about how his insolvent led to Yue’s death/apotheosis. Yue forgives Zuko after this.
After the difficult conversation, Yue decides to plow right into another difficult conversation. Yue prefaces by telling Zuko that she is the manifestation of the moon. So she knows what drives mortals. She can look down into their hearts and perceive their truths. With that out of the way, Yue confront Zuko about his feelings for Azula directly.
Zuko of course sputters a denial that was conning to no one. Least of all to him and to the omniscient moon spirit. Like with Sokka about Katara, she convinces Zuko to accept his feelings for Azula.
After this, Sokka and Zuko bond over their respective feelings for Katara and Azula.
Azula and Katara also stay up late at night and converse. The conversation is hostile in places and friendly in others. Until Azula accidentally slips up and reveals her feelings for Zuko. In a bout of compassion Katara tells Azula about her own feelings for Sokka. The two commiserate on their seemingly “unrequited” feelings for their idiot older brothers. It ends with Azula and Katara agreeing to make a move for better or worse before leaving the spirit world.
So Azula and Katara become friends. kinda. Of a sort from bonding over their desires.
All in all, the course of their journey took around 20 days’s in the spirit world and about 4 days in the human/mortal world. In that time thw 4 had to realize brief feelings for their respective love. Additionally, Zuko and Azula had grapple with the truth of the Fire Nations injustices. Spirits also forced Azula and Zuko to confront the realities of their father’s abuses over them.
Once Azula, Katara, Zuko, and Sokka reach the portal door the 4 have a “heart to heart” before going through. The conversation ends with Azula and Zuko deciding to join the Gaang and fight against Ozai.
At the last second before going into the portal, Azula and Katar look each other in the eye and they both nod. As if hearing themselves up to run a marathon.
Azula pulls Zuko’s head down and whispers into his ear. Katara does the same with Sokka. Then the two sets are kissing, get carried away and trip into the portal. Landing as a jumbled heap into the human/mortal world. But the Fire/Water sibs are all back in their world and in their bodies.
The war proceeds quickly and rather easily now that Azula and Zuko (with Mai and Ty Lee by extension) are on side. For his part Aang is upset about Katara and Sokka’s new relationship. But he doesn’t let them him distract from his duty as the Avatar. Aang eventually moves on from Katara and is happy for the couple.
The plan for the day of Black Sun works and Ozai is ousted. With Zuko becoming Fire Lord in his stead.
Azula and Zuko, and Katara and Sokka keep their taboo relationships under raps for several years. Azula and Sokka come up with a plan, Zuko would marry Katara publicly and Azula would marry Sokka publicly. They would all live in the Fire Nation palace. This way, they can keep their true relationships under wraps and keep the public from going insane over the taboo relationship(s).
I hoped you liked the Zucest/Kacest idea/ouline!
It's pretty neat, I'm not a superfan of Watercest like I am of Zucest but I still think it's a cool pairing.
I love your idea and think you should totally write it. Except the ending, that part make no sense. Zuko and Azula have no reason to have pretend marriages with other people, they are the supreme authority of their country. If genocide didn't make the Fire Nation rebel, some incest won't either.
Same for Katara and Sokka, they saved the world and are BFFs with the Avatar, it's the kind of status where you kinda do what you want.
Also I don't like Zutara and can't stand Sokkla so anything resembling it is a no go to me.

Besides Zutara and Zukka, what Avatar ships do you dislike?
Pretty much the only one that irks me on that same level is Sokkla, but the shippers are super nice so I leave them alone.
I don't like Azutara, any ship with Iroh, nearly every Ozai ship (Urzai being the exception, but it's more of "I like watching this train-wreck of a relationship go south" than really shipping them), Watercest (Sokka and Katara), Azula X Chan, Azulaang, Mai and that non-character she was dating in the comics, and Comics!Zuko and Comics!Mai (WHY did the writers turn them into Ross and Rachel? WHY?).
Bonus: I like Tyzula, but BOY the fans are so fucking annoying, constantly trying to act like it was 100% canon, and a ton of the fanfics have both of them be so out of character, it hurts.

Katara is tired of being the mom in all her relationships...until she overhears someone call Hakoda a DILF. Suddenly she has a solution to her lackluster sex-life as well as an opportunity for some daddy-daughter bonding. Hakoda doesn't agree but that makes it all the more fun. Tit for tat. Yandere Katara and Yandere Zuko work together to make a happy family. Azula has no defense against bloodbending and Hakoda should really be more on guard when Zuko calls him for a private war meeting.
... I was not expecting this. I'm definitively not complaining though. Good job, anon!

(she doesn't care, he takes care of her like a Northern tribe princess, they're all water babies born into warm pools, usually Hakoda's submerged behind her encouraging her.. her other kids quickly surround her to welcome the new sibling each time. He loves that she's so brave..)
