I'm just messing around and assigning DnD classes + subclasses to the Lu boys and I want them all to be different classes. So some of these aren't the best fit but I'm trying me best :')
Time - Warlock his patron is probably the Fierce Deity. Not sure which subclass is best between hexblade (Fierce Deity sword) or the great old one...
Twilight - Druid circle of moon I'm very hesitant towards this one. Druids are heavy magic users but I didn't want to make Twi a lycanthrope. Circle of moon makes it more combat focused so that makes it work a bit more.
Legend - Bard He has the harp of ages and I feel like the stereotypical snarky bard fits Leg. I'm unsure of which college fits best tho... College of Lore or College of Swords seems like the best ones to me.
Wind - Rogue Swashbuckler this one's pretty obvious to me. Wind's good at sneaking around and swashbuckler is as pirate you can get.
Wild - Ranger Horizon walker Ranger felt pretty obvious to me but choosing a subclass was a lil challenging. Hunter and monster slayer fit pretty well but I thought horizon walker was a bit more fun. It fits pretty well with how combat works in BotW with flurry rush.
Hyrule - Sorcerer Divine soul at first I thought cleric. But I think this is better. It's a good combo for healing and you get access to a lot more different spells with the divine soul subclass. Plus i don't think Hyrule would be devoted to a deity like a cleric would.
Four - Artificer Forge adept forge adept is a home brew subclass but a armourer artificer didn't really fit as well. I was pretty sure that I wanted Four to be a artificer so when I found the forge adept subclass it turned out pretty good. If not an artificer, a Echo knight fighter would work pretty well too. (But Wars fits better as a fighter so artificer it is)
Wars - Fighter Eldritch knight eldritch knights have extended reach in combat and can deal damage to many foes at once which fits well with Hyrule warriors combat.
Sky - Paladin Oath of the crown with his connection to Zelda and them basically founding Hyrule this felt like a good fit. As a paladin with an oath to the crown you get tenets and one of them is courage sooo

A single design problem I have for each D&D 5e class
Made this a thread over on bluesky and figured might as well bring it over here. Not really big problems in most cases, but just, small things that I feel WotC should tweak in all current 5e classes.
Artificer: No clear weakness.
A single class that can make great a great support character, DPS character, tank, single target attacker, stealth character, etc
Obviously needs to be built spesifically for each of these, but every other class has at least one thing they can't do.
Barbarian: No force resistance
Slightly cheating because it's not inherently a problem with Barbarian, but recently more monsters have been using Force damage instead of B/P/S, and barbarians should absolutely gain resistance to it while raging at higher levels.
Bard: Full-casting
Bards are designed to be a jack of all trades, it's right there at 2nd level, but they seem to have missed the 'master of none' bit.
Full spellcasting up to 9th level, a pretty solid spell list, and spells they don't have they can take with Magical Secrets anyway, even 9th level ones.
Cleric: Turn Undead
A holdover from older editions, turn undead in my opinion just doesn't make for a good universal option on clerics.
I'd much prefer something like spirit guardians or spiritual weapon be reworked into their universal channel divinity.
Druid: Universal Wildshape
Probably controversial, but I have similar problems with wildshape that I do turn undead, it's good, but a weird universal option.
If I'm a druid getting my powers from stones, plants, or the stars, why can I also turn into a ferret? There should be a few options to pick from instead.
Fighter: Action Surge at Level 2
Action surge is such a good feature, usually it's just some extra attacks, but the fact you have the chioce is great....
That said, I think it coming online so early incentivises unintentionally incentivises multiclassing, casters dipping for 2 spells a turn mostly. They've somewhat fixed it by limiting what actions you can use it for in OneD&D, but I personally just feel it should be later level rather than limiting it.
Monk: Ki Dependancy
This doesnt' need explaining, everything for monks costs ki and it really doesn't need to, they should get resource free disengage and dash, or have ki recover faster.
I had an idea for a ki recharge of 1 min, but less points overall, so you have all points for every fight
Paladin: Oaths at 3rd level
You get your power as a paladin from a sacred oath you swear, so why do you only choose that oath at 3rd level?
That's like a warlock only deciding their patron at 3rd, or a cleric only deciding their god at 3rd (Yes 1D&D does this and I hate it).
Ranger: Spells Known
Why do rangers, the class that's meant to be about being the best prepared for the wilderness and natural areas not have prepared spells?
It just seems so obvious to me, and I've got no idea why it's not done like that already?!
Rogue: Is Pretty Good
If anything I'd say that I'm not a fan of skill floors like reliable talent, and expertise not letting you use it on other tools is a bit strange, maybe the large subclass level gap?
Yeah overall I'm a fan of rogues though, they're just solidly made.
Sorcerer: Spells Known
They tried to fix this in Tasha's with subclass spell lists, and I think that's good idea generally, but letting them swap them for (admittedly limited) options from 3 different spell lists is also weird
Just give them subclass spells they can't swap, or maybe can swap fron one list and you're good.
Warlock: EB is a Cantrip
Eldritch Blast is a good spell. Too good to be honest with multiclassing at least, it's one of the reasons PalLock is such a good combo.
EB should scale with Warlock level so be a feature not a cantrip, or cantrip scaling with warlock level like it was in that One D&D UA that they then reverted.
Wizard: Subclass Theming
Tying wizard subclasses to schools was a bad idea, and what we've gotten outside the PHB seems to be an attempt to go back on that.
It also means they don't have room to explore all of each school, I'd love a teleport or summon focused wizard but school of conjuration smashes them together weirdly

I don't know if anyone will even see this, but I was curious what others may think! I know there's no right or wrong class to romance anyone with, but I think it's fun to theorize which combos would be most interesting thematically or just seeing what dynamics people come up with. Feel free to elaborate and explain your ideas to your hearts content because I love to read it!
For me personally I'm leaning towards Sorcerer, in order to challenge his preconceived notions of magic - or a non-magical class like Fighter, to show him the wonders and worth of a mundane life.
Realizing I made a typo but can't change it 🙃 I do know how to spell ***Romance***

I know people like the idea that the Ratgrinders are min-maxers but like, so are most of the bad kids.
Lou is playing one of the most battlefield disruptive martial combos. Fabian hit an AC of 26 in one fight, while dishing out a very high damage with his mini-smite from Fandrangor. (He had second most damage output in The Last Stand as well, and made the Roper miss everyone else with the goading attack.)
Emily is playing a Bard-Hexadin, and will probably be taking a new Bard Subclass soon to reflect her combat style change. Worth noting, she did over double the damage of any other bad kid in the Last Stand, even without the crit Adaine gave her. (Also Emily is a known power gamer, who makes multiclassing such a powerful thing. Sofie with her level (?) in warlock. Saccharina Frostwhip, Witch Queen of the Dairy Isles as a Tempest-Sorcleric)
Murph has also taken a switch to one of the more powerful rogue subclasses, but I’m not surprised given how hard Inquisitive sort of just falls apart. Haste on Riz was essential to his DPR.
Siobhan is just playing a wizard who hit her seventh level spell slot break point. As of now, Adaine might be the biggest target with her ability to change a battlefield, especially with a spell like Scatter.
I don’t have too much insight into Gorgug, cause I don’t really know what Barbificer does beyond what we’ve been given, which admittedly is still a ton of cool stuff.
And Ally has a Twilight Cleric who has consistently put out clutch heals, can hold double concentration (bet Brennan regrets the Teddy Bear), and easily shuts down an entire archetype of enemies (undead.)
I’m gonna do a different post speculating on the Rat Grinders cause this is kinda long as is.

the Mighty Nein are definitely level 20 by now (7+ years after the first reunion special), so let's take a look at all the new stuff they have!
Caleb and Essek
Wizards don't get any arcane tradition features at higher levels, so Caleb and Essek have the same new abilities. They get spell mastery, which gives them one 1st level and one 2nd level spell that they can cast at will; and signature spells, which gives them two 3rd level spells that they can cast once each without expending a spell slot. They can switch out their spell mastery spells for others of the same levels by spending 8 hours in study.
They also both get a 19th level ASI.
Caduceus and Jester
As with wizards, clerics don't get any domain-specific features at levels 18-20th. However, they do get divine intervention improvement, which means that their divine intervention roll will automatically succeed. The once-per-week limit still applies, meaning that if they use it each week, they have each had around 329 successful divine interventions over the course of 7 years.
They also both get a 19th level ASI.
Fjord
Fjord could have two different sets of new abilities. During the first Mighty Nein reunion special, his levels were warlock 12/paladin 5.
If he's warlock 15/paladin 5, he gains mystic arcanum (7th and 8th), which allows him to cast one 7th and one 8th level spell without expending a spell slot; and master of hexes, which allows him to move his hexblade's curse to a different target as if it were regular hex.
If he's warlock 12/paladin 8, he gains aura of protection, which gives allies within 10 feet of him a bonus to saving throws equal to his charisma modifier; and aura of liberation, which allows allies within 10 feet of him to ignore attack and movement penalties from being underwater and prevents those allies from being grappled or restrained. He also gets an 8th level ASI from this combo.
I think the most likely level distribution for him is warlock 13/paladin 7, as this would give him aura of protection, aura of liberation, and mystic arcanum (7th level). However, he could also go warlock 12/paladin 8 to get an ASI.
Veth
Veth could have two different sets of new abilities. During the first reunion, her levels were rogue 16/wizard 1.
If she's rogue 19/wizard 1, she gets spell thief, which is a complicated ability that essentially allows her to steal spells from creatures that target her with a spell, then cast that spell for the next 8 hours as if she had it prepared; and elusive, which prevents any attack from having advantage against her (as long as she isn't incapacitated).
If she's rogue 16/wizard 4, she gets an ASI and arcane tradition, allowing her to choose a school of magic to specialize in. I think the two most likely traditions for her are evocation and transmutation, so we'll look at those. If she specializes in evocation, she gets sculpt spells, which allows her to choose creatures within her spell's radius to automatically succeed their saving throw against it; if she specializes in transmutation, she gets minor alchemy, allowing her to temporarily change the material that an object is made of (e.g. wood to stone or copper to silver).
I think the most likely level distribution for her is rogue 18/wizard 2, since that would give her arcane tradition, spell thief, and elusive. However, she could get an ASI from going either rogue 19/wizard 1 or rogue 16/wizard 4.
Kingsley
Kingsley could have two different sets of new abilities. During the first reunion, his levels were blood hunter 13/rogue 4.
If he's blood hunter 16/rogue 4, he gets hardened soul, which gives him advantage on saving throws against being charmed and frightened; and blood curse of the exorcist, which gives him the blood curse of the same name without counting against the number of curses he knows. He also gets a 16th level ASI.
If he's blood hunter 13/rogue 7, he gets uncanny dodge, allowing him to use a reaction to halve the damage of an attack; expertise, which doubles his proficiency bonus for certain skills; and evasion, which makes him take half damage on a failed dex save or no damage on a successful one.
I think the most likely level distribution for him is blood hunter 15/rogue 5, as this would give him hardened soul, blood curse of the exorcist, and uncanny dodge; however, 13/7 is possible if Tal wanted all those rogue abilities, as is 16/4 if he wanted the ASI.
Beau
Beau gains empty body, which allows her expend 4 ki points to become invisible (during which time she is resistant to all damage) and 8 ki points to cast astral projection on herself without material components; and perfect self, which causes her to regain 4 ki points immediately after rolling initiative if she has no ki points remaining.
She also gets a 19th level ASI.
Yasha
Yasha gains indomitable might, which allows her to use her strength score in place of the result of a strength check; primal champion, which increases her strength and constitution scores by 4 (putting them at 22 and 19, and giving her an additional 40 hit points); and unlimited use of rage.
She also gets a 19th level ASI.
I also want to highlight, because it just adds to Yasha's badassery: with rage beyond death, unlimited use of rage, and healing hands, Yasha is essentially able to tank literally anything for an unlimited amount of time and then heal herself to keep from dying. Because of the synergy between rage beyond death and persistent rage, even effects that would usually prevent her from re-upping her rage (like power word stun) wouldn't work. Once she gets into this loop, the only thing that can stop her is an instant death effect, such as that from power word kill or disintegrate.

OKAY FOOLS HOW YALL DOING IM BACK AFTER BEING DEAD FOR LIKE MONTHS-
See, I had a Thought which the Merlin fandom might be interested in. Especially the fanfic writers.
I was browsing Pinterest, as you do, and stumbled across a few tumblr posts instead of actually looking on the site… again, as you do.
And I came to a fun idea.
So y’know how with some pieces of fantasy media they go ‘oh with the amount of stupidity here this is totally a D&D game’?
Well… that, but Merlin.
Like we already have scenes that would totally fit the bill of a D&D game. The whole scene with old Merlin and the knights with the stepping stool onto the horse is just so unbelievably D&D, and I can imagine the scene with the “..reading poetry.” as just real bad persuasion/deception rolls from both Merlin AND Arthur.
Just imagine the chaos.
Here are my personal headcanons for their classes, but feel free to debate about it:
Merlin: Sorcerer. This man is too much of an idiot to be a wizard (though he DOES get hurt enough to be one), and I reckon being a wild magic sorcerer would totally fit the bill. He’s powerful, but hijinks must ensue- thus, the wild magic. Or perhaps not. People might assume it’s wild magic and turns out it’s just Merlin thinking he’s funny.
Arthur: Bard. Immediately. He’s got paladin energy as in like the ‘Chosen One’ and also he’s a knight, but he’s so stupid and also charismatic that he just gives bard to me. Like he’s so stupid and charismatic with literally everything, that Merlin ended up liking him. Like this man is a himbo that dresses brightly.
Morgana: Absolutely a warlock. She would have so much fun with eldritch blast, and being weird and spooky totally fits her vibe later in the series. She would probably be the one to sometimes have the braincell in the party and use her magic responsibly… but also eldritch blast. You gotta use eldritch blast-
Mordred: I don’t think he has chill enough vibes for the druid stereotype, but he definitely could be a druid. Giving funky nature powers to this kid would really be a hilarious idea. Like imagine Mordred with wild shape. I also think he has the possibility of being the Dionysus kind of druid… y’know, the greek god who turned people into dolphins just because? Yeah, him.
Gwaine: Barbarian. Or fighter. He may be a knight, sure, but with the amount of bar brawls he gets into? Absolutely. The fool definitely would fist fight someone in a dark alleyway at 2AM, it’s just what he’s like. He likes to hit people and drink alcohol- it just fits his whole MO.
Percival: Also a barbarian. His entire thing is strength, and the ‘little man’ comment just screams of a man with high intimidation. He may be a gentle giant and not going for the whole stereotype of angry rage beast, but this guy can totally scare without it.
Lancelot: Lancelot is a paladin. He’s the very epitome of ‘Good Boy.’ This guy is such a Righteous knight and just a generally cool person that I think that a god straight up WOULD get in contact to have him fight for the forces of good. I love this man so much. I also love paladins. Perfect combo.
Elyan: Elyan’s a cleric. He’s caring and loyal, as well as not bullying Merlin regularly. He’s also pretty cunning so possibly rogue there as well? I’d be more inclined to lean towards cleric the most though, cause he’s one of the most chill knights and also balances out the chaos of Gwaine and Percival as a duo… they’re nuts-
Leon: Also a paladin. Less of a ‘pure and true soul’ guy like Lancelot, but more of a ‘stands for what’s right and upholds the law’ kind of paladin. Like he’s totally a follower of chivalry with all the traditional ways of doing things- always respectful and polite but just kinda a little at arms length.
Guinevere: Stereotypical druid. Totally a tree-hugger and loves plants. Also she gets to be a Disney princess now and talk to animals in forests. Living out her best life in the forest with her whole cottagecore aesthetic. Even with her becoming queen, she’s totally still a druid. Albeit a royal one now.
Gaius: Oh he’s so gonna be an artificer. But specifically an alchemist artificer. He can make healing potions and mix weird medicines together, sure, but jesus christ the old man gets into just as many shenanigans as the main group. I mean, the whole possession fiasco with the goblin is enough proof for that-
(And before anyone tells me a character’s missing, it’s been a while since I watched the series, I’m trying my best hhhh-)

A Brief Honor Mode Reflection 🎆
Hello!! Now that I've beaten BG3's HM (on Patch 6, Hotfix 19), I am here to share my builds (and a mini retrospective). 🥳👋
My team relied on stealth, a few instances of barrelmancy, and some amoral choices... 😔 But we did not use any illithid powers!
I did not have a main party and instead swapped characters out depending on the situation. I did my best to remember how combat encounters played out, and prepared accordingly! If I was really worried about an encounter, I tried to follow these awesome guide videos from YouTuber neek. 😁
(Possible spoilers ahead!)
Party Builds
Tumblr media
The party that I brought to the final battle against the Netherbrain! A lot of white hair, lol.
Unfortunately, I don't remember my party's exact stats and I can't go into an old save to find them (haha) so I'll do my best to remember their key traits/items here.
All of my party members took the Alert Feat at Level 8! I consider this feat key, if not necessary, to winning Honor Mode.
Tav (Asa): 12 Monk, Way of the Open Hand (Drow)
20 STR / 14 DEX / 23 CON / 8 INT / 16 WIS / 10 CHA
Tavern Brawler Feat
Helldusk Armor
Gloves of Soul Catching
Amulet of Greater Health
Haste Helm
Boots of Uninhibited Kushigo
I got Asa to 20 STR by starting her off with 17 STR, using her Level 4 feat to take Tavern Brawler (+1), then pressuring Astarion for Araj Oblodra's potion (+2). (😭)
A Way of the Open Hand Monk is a superb DPR hitter that can also apply handy conditions to bosses, such as Stunned or Prone. It's a popular class with powergamers, and for good reason!! Personally, I really like it because I can pretend to be a wuxia heroine, haha.
Gale: 12 Wizard, Abjuration School
I don't remember his exact stats unfortunately, but I prioritized INT (20), DEX, and CON.
Robe of the Weave
Markoheshkir
Viconia's Walking Fortress
Gloves of Belligerent Skies
Boots of Stormy Clamor
Psychic Spark
Abjuration Wizard can hugely increase your chances at survival with Arcane Ward. My party was basically invincible by the time we reached Level 10, thanks to Gale's Arcane Ward and Shadowheart's Warding Flare!
I had Gale carry the Spellsparkler staff for basically all of Acts 1 and 2. I'm a huge fan, especially when combo-ing it with Magic Missile. 😁
Astarion (Vampire Ascendant): 4 Rogue (Thief) / 6 Ranger (Gloom Stalker) / 2 Fighter
See my build guide for Ascended Astarion! I followed that, but took his last two levels in Fighter rather than sticking with Ranger. Fighter's Action Surge came in handy a few times.
I forewent the Alert Feat on Astarion in favor of an ASI (+2 to DEX). His Initiative was already very high due to Gloom Stalker Ranger's Dread Ambusher.
Alongside my Tav (Asa), Astarion was easily doing the most DPR.
Shadowheart: 12 Cleric, Light Domain
I have a proper build guide in the works 😁 but I highly recommend prioritizing WIS, CON, and DEX if you can!
Amulet of the Devout
Luminous Armor
Luminous Gloves
Boots of Striding
Selûne's Spear of Night
Ketheric's Shield
Callous Glow Ring
Coruscation Ring
This build does highly rely on Radiant Damage, and there are a few enemies who punish you for using Radiant Damage (ie. the Undead Justiciars, Raphael, Viconia) - so be careful about where you're using her and how!
In most cases (especially with Invisible enemies), I had Shadowheart start by dropping a Radiance of the Dawn among clustered enemies. Thanks to her gear, this delivered a mass output of Radiant Damage and Radiating Orbs.
EDIT: Guide completed and posted on March 2, 2024!
Wyll: 12 Warlock, The Fiend, Pact of the Blade
See my build guide for Fiend Bladelock Wyll!
Unfortunately, the gear in the above guide ended up overlapping with other characters :') So instead of being a frontliner in this run, he was largely Eldritch Blasting and acting as the Party Face. As such, I had him in the following:
Potent Robe
Hat of the Sharp Caster
Daredevil Gloves
Envoy's Amulet
Band of the Mystic Scoundrel
Ring of Arcane Synergy
Lae'zel: 12 Paladin, Oath of Vengeance
Lae'zel was sadly kidnapped and killed by Orin. 😞 So her build isn't as complete, but I had her in the following for most of Acts 1 and 2:
Adamantine Splint Armor
Sussur Greatsword ➡️ Soulbreaker Greatsword
Crusher's Ring
Gloves of the Growling Underdog
Like my Tav (Asa) and Astarion, I would bring in Lae'zel when I needed an extra heavy DPR hitter! Paladins are a very powerful class if you don't mind Long Resting often, especially in the early game before you get Extra Attack on martials at Level 5.
Retrospective
To be honest, I'd already beaten the game five times (oops! 🥲) before completing my Honor Run. 😆 So I had a huge leg up just by virtue of remembering which encounters were where, and what was the best way to beat them! IMO, Foreknowledge, Initiative, and Stealth/Surprise are king in Honor Mode.
I also followed some tips that I normally find overly tedious:
Donate gold to traders to get better prices when buying + more gold when selling.
Meticulously collect camp supplies and barrels, especially smokepowder barrels.
Stock up on Invisibility Potions in case you need to Flee a combat.
Stock up on Strength Potions (Hill Giant, Cloud Giant) for your Strength-based builds, so you can prioritize other Ability Scores - particularly in the early game.
Always try to initiate combat with Surprise if you can.
Make good use of Shadowheart's buff spells!! I don't know why I never used Enhance Ability and Calm Emotions before this, haha!
Get two Hirelings through Withers: one Transmutation Wizard and one Cleric. The wizard was our camp alchemist, and the cleric was our camp buffer (Heroes' Feast, Freedom of Movement, upcasted Aid).
I even cut a deal with Philomeen for her Runepowder Vial then entered turn-based mode to kill her before she could flee the scene, thus securing the Runepowder Barrel as well. 😭
Sadly, I very much set aside my moral code for this run. :') Astarion got the extremely, extremely short end of the stick 😞 - and unfortunately, so did Wyll. 😭 I broke his pact with Mizora, but instead of rescuing his father and properly closing out Wyll's companion quest, I skipped the Iron Throne and Wyrmway quests... (I did not like my chances against the Steelwatch and Ansur...)
So, after fully building my party, we ended up briefly allying with Gortash (IYKYK haha) and heading straight for the Brain. Orpheus was our team's Mind Flayer.
The items I brought with me to the final Brain fight include:
4 Elixirs of Psychic Resistance
8 Potions of Flying (though I only ended up using 4)
10 Potions of Invisibility (though I only ended up using 5)
5 scrolls of Globe of Invulnerability (I only used 1, LOL)
10 Potions of Speed (I only used 2)
8 scrolls of Disintegrate ⭐
I will let you figure out what I did with those. 😁 (Unless you'd like to see my full strat, in which case I may post that later!)
Hope this helped anyone who's planning to attempt Honor Mode!! YOU'VE GOT THIS! 👏 Panic is the mindkiller in this version of the game, so just keep a level head, check your inventory before ending your turn, and read the BG3 Wiki (especially when facing bosses), haha - and you'll be a-okay 🥳🎆 !
Best of luck! 🍀✨

*eyebrows raised with interest* PJO DnD?
Demigods and Dragons
Rachel Dare has a plan. She will use threats and blackmail to force her friends to play dungeons and dragons with her, whether they like it or not. Percy, Annabeth, Nico, Will, and Jason all find themselves seated at her table for various reasons. They don’t know what plans the oracle has in store for their ragtag group of adventurers, they can only hope whatever it is that it doesn’t take too much time. How wrong they are.
The direction this story takes will depend on the readers! Read and comment with what you’d like to see or vote for a particular outcome.
I wrote the entire first chapter for this one in one day. Then I hesitated to post it. I just felt it wasn't engaging enough. The idea requires reader feedback and I just felt like it would flop immediately.
Also reading it now you can tell I had no idea what to do with Will and Nico. My thoughts on potential race/class combos for the characters is below. Let me know if you dis/agree XD
Annabeth
Elf Druid
Harengon Artificer
Jason
Dragonborn Cleric
Firbolg Monk
Nico
Tiefling Warlock
Goliath Barbarian
Percy
Tortle Sorcerer
Dwarf Rogue
Will
Eladrin Paladin
Elf Ranger
Tabaxi Bard

leliana is kind of a funny combo between bard and rogue in dao (altho even in dnd there's some overlap)
yeah i mean a lot of the subclasses—that’s not the word, what’s the word—a lot of the specialisations in dao just split into more dnd classes
bards and rangers are included in rogue and the other two specs are dnd rogue subclasses; warriors have berserkers and reavers which are barbarians and templars which are paladins (templars are literally referred to as paladins half the time in the toolset), and champions which are something like a battlemaster fighter; and finally obviously spirit healers are clerics (getting their powers from thedas’ theological equivalent of angels, in the absence of an active pantheon of gods), blood mages are warlocks (getting their power from... literally demons, they don’t bother to switch the names up for this), shapeshifters are druids and arcane warriors are something like the the eldritch knight fighter subclass if you had to put a name to it
obviously these are pretty broad generalisations but i think it’s pretty laughable to say these weren’t all inspired by the dnd classes

i finished baldur's gate here's some dumb fucking shit that happened
accidentally reloaded an old save where i didn't recruit lae'zel. she escaped the trap herself and then got killed by the gith patrol by mountain pass. i used gale's stupid death pouch just to hear his dialogue, but it ended up giving me a scroll of true resurrection, which i used to get lae'zel in my party right before act 2
...and then she got kidnapped early in act 3 so i basically didn't see her the entire game. sorry girl
used knock on almost every door ever. i ignored so many doors where you needed to solve a puzzle with knock
multiclassed my sorcerer into cleric. picked mystra as my deity because i thought it was funny. immediately followed that decision with several very, very heavy gale cutscenes where i could heartlessly mansplain to him about his ex. i'm so fucking sorry my guy
stole every painting possible, especially from cazador
met oliver before thaniel. noped out because the shadow family was creepy as hell. turned out to work better for the plot so whatever
80000000 trips to dammon to offload all the shit i looted. constantly. in all three acts
redid an entire hour of act 3 TWICE to save the submarine guy, but he died in both attempts so i reloaded to sell him out and get the wave mommy robes. morality!
wyll got tossed into a chasm before his first turn in at least three major plot-relevant fights
gale tossed at least two major bosses into a chasm with thunderwave within the first two rounds
greater invisibility'd astarion and split him off from the party while they were talking to the main villain of a quest. killed her in the dialogue while she was distracted. walked away from an awful fight having spent a single level 4 spell slot. it was incredible
in multiplayer i got approval from gale while he wasn't in the party and said "oh we're gonna fuck nasty tonight" aloud for god and man to hear
i DID do the gale ending (iykyk) just to see what it was like and DID tear up :) but the OTHER INTENDED ending with the GALE SCENE AT THE END did also make me tear up in the exact opposite way :)
builds for the gang i really enjoyed:
sorlock wyll was a haste/fireball/eldritch blast bot and it was so effective i almost regret not making my sorcerer part warlock
astarion was rogue 6/champion fighter 6, one of my favorite combos in the ttrpg, and it still kicks ass. i got his ac up to 23 and he was tankier than the tanks
evocation gale + fireball + fire affinity. that's all
put a cloak of displacement on karlach. that's all!
i have Notes but it's a very good game over all. just a little bit. been a while since something grabbed me so thoroughly by the throat. i'm off to avoid the fandom and play it another three times. might fuck around and make a wizard for the ttrpg now
in parting: look at Them ❤️

Incoming: Tumblr Tav Tuesdays
Tumblr media
Ok, preview of coming LTB attractions, thanks to helpful feedback and tips from some kind folks to this post. What I'm gonna do is post somewhat substantial entries for each of my eight Tavs that have made the most progress in the game.
They'll happen for the next eight Tuesdays (because Tav Tuesday of course) beginnning April 23. I previously did this on a fun Discord that I'm part of but Discord stuff tends to scroll away and get lost, so maybe this will be a better venue for it.
Content will be a combo of 5e/BG3 backstory (in-game and out), builds/gear (because crunch is fun), BG3 playthrough highlights (romances, unique events, etc.), and selected screenshot dumps (ideally beyond "standard stoic Tav" poses). The cast will star:
Tumblr media
4/23: Cannor Coth, the Lost Singer (human swords bard). You've heard of heroic anti-heroes, but anti-bard bards? This guy is that guy, a little bit of everything without being Too Much.
Tumblr media
4/30: Zafraia Zital, the Banished Bandit (human thief rogue). A cynical con artist who's seen everything and found it sorely lacking. No Guildie is good enough, no Zhent is safe.
Tumblr media
5/7: Drem Sion, the Relentless Defender (human shadow monk). Bare-knuckle brawler with a heart of gold, this one—but since things are never that simple, neither is he.
Tumblr media
5/14: Olinitza Cuel, the Silent Sentinel (half-drow gloom stalker ranger). A righteous rebel out to afflict the powerfully corrupt, avenge the downtrodden, and clear her name in the process.
Tumblr media
5/21: Farago Heli, the Elven Exile (wood elf hunter ranger). Strong silent types have nothing on this ex-soldier, who's pining for a place to settle down once this adventuring stuff is all over.
Tumblr media
5/28: Qiranna Jasti, the Raven's Right Hand (seldarine drow archfey warlock). The merely curious and ambitious have nothing on this moxie-fuelled mage. She wants the world and wants it now.
Tumblr media
6/4: Ruy Acavés, the Realm's Reckoner (human knowledge cleric). What's a nice nerd like him doing in a nightmare like this? Why, collecting all the maps, arcana, and lore he possibly can, of course.
Tumblr media
6/11: Sianed Arie, the Silver Stargazer (wood half-elf land druid). A shrewd sage who'd rather scan the night sky than shapeshift or strive for balance, she's at home in both wild frontiers and urban jungles.
There may be a few more after that, but these folks are my Elite Eight who've seen the most playing time, so they come first. Stay tuned!

okay so with all this au talk, the DnD college au is actually occupying most of my brain space. here's how it starts (LOTS more info under the cut):
Yosuke is a college first year and has had terrible luck doing the whole fresh start, make lots of friends (and get tons of babes) so far.... so while he doesn't like his suitemate Kubo too much, when Kubo wheedles him to join him for some dorm board game thing (so he doesn't look like too much like a creep going alone; and "it's not like YOU've got any plans on a Friday night, Hanamura") to get close to Yuki-chan- "and there are other hotties there!!" Yosuke doesn't protest TOO much. plus there's free food!
board game thing was actually a DnD session a couple of other first years are trying to put together. also in attendance are: Souji (the dm), Yukiko and Chie (they're already friends but don't know the rest of the group), Kanji, Naoto (Rise is there briefly (she's Naoto's girlfriend); she won't be joining but she wanted to steal Souji's cooking and catch up a little as she, Naoto and Souji are already friends- Naoto is the one to help convince Souji to put together this DnD recruitment, actually. Rise's very busy but she'll appear on occasion throughout the campaign when Souji begs her to play a dramatic bit parts for NPCs) and Ai just cos I feel like other people than the IT should join for a lil bit (she will make an excuse 20 minutes in "ohhhh something came up I'll be right back." she doesn't.) Mitsuo will not be returning after the first session after Yukiko flatly turns him down. Teddie is back home with Yosuke's parents since he's not college age yet and won't be a part of this at all, probably
first session is a little messy (the enthusiasm levels vary wildly among the players) but what hooks Yosuke and gets him to come back again is one of his off the wall ideas in combat actually worked and won them the battle and the dopamine he got from that is unmatched
what's the campaign look like: UHHHHHH i don't know but I have the vague idea it would somewhat mirror the events of p4- so instead of some world ending adventuring maybe the gang uncovers a serial murder plot? but more fantasy. and maybe the murderer's story is somehow tied to the NPC that Yosuke eventually falls in love with idk
the gang's characters!
Naoto already had their character planned out beforehand: an elf ranger ♂ (Souji had to talk them down from going into some super specific off-book combo to not scare off the newbies that hopefully would join). Yukiko, Chie, and Kanji had all actually read the recruitment flyer for this event so had a vague idea of their characters but haven't played a ttrpg before so just went with what appealed to them rather then how they play. Yukiko: tiefling warlock (and after she learned Naoto is x-gender she thought that sounded fun and made her character x-gender as well; Naoto thinks maybe they're being mocked but it's genuine on Yukiko's part). Chie: human monk ♀. Kanji: halfling cleric ♀. Yosuke had no idea what he was getting into so he's just going for what's Coolest. he considered being a super yolked warrior but nah... not even in make believe. But he could be an awesome stealthy ninja!! So he chooses rogue. as for race, he's not going to be an elf that's basically like being a fairy, right, and he's not... but he thinks they get cool bonus powers or something so he'll go with half-elf.
(Ai tried to be an elf princess but Souji gently maneuvered her to elf druid. Kubo went with the first things that caught his eye: dragonborn barbarian)
as for names, only Naoto came up with one already (Erawin <deeply into western high fantasy>); the rest of the gang workshops names at the table:
Yosuke: Jira (i'm not creative what do u want from me .)
Chie<sweating, desperately trying not to say her literal first thought > : her name is……uhhh… <gives up> Lee…
Yukiko just tries vague grunts to turn into a name (“Grgk!” “no” “Aaaht!” “no” “ERP!” “sounds like a belch” <yukiko laugh > “is that a name?? er- no” “Hrk!” “OKAY YES HRK YOU CAN BE HRK”)
Kanji: Usagi (it is for the reason you're thinking)
anyway the main meat of the au is an NPC appearing and then reoccurring throughout the campaign that Yosuke's character forms a natural rapport with... Souji picks up on this and fleshes out the NPC beyond what was a throw away background character. the gang try to do their DnD sessions every week for at least a couple hours, but it still takes them weeks and weeks to get through what Souji planned. since it's so gradual, Yosuke doesn't notice when their characters' banter turned from playful to outright flirtatious...
and he swears he's not like THAT but he can't help getting so genuinely upset when he dies* in Jira's arms and Yosuke can't separate character from person when he hears Souji's voice tells him before he dies that he- he loves--
*temporarily; I'm not a monster

A mod for a homebrew Durge sorcerer subclass dropped today on nexus and ho boy, I am having so much fun with it.
It doesn't really fit Ezra that well because the weapon you're supposed to use with it is a special dagger that uses your spellcasting modifier for attack rolls instead of str/dex (he's a longsword+shield guy thanks to the paladin training), but the gameplay mechanics of a cross between rogue and sorcerer work SO well for Durge. I love it.
My absolute fave are the little rp flavour abilities like Dance of Death that gives you a AC bonus when threatened because fighting up close is Durge being 100% in their element, blood spraying everywhere so they would not get hit as easily 😖 I dunno how it'll hold up balance-wise later on, but so far honour mode has not really been that much easier? I usually multiclass the hell out of Ezra because I feel like he'd be really versatile as a fighter and I find it hard to just confine myself to one class so I'm hoping that this time I'll be able to stick with just sorcerer instead of my usual paladin/sorcerer/warlock or paladin/rogue/sorcerer crazy person combo 😂
