#vote blue down the ballot

Republicans OPENLY want to kill queer people, oppress minorities, and turn the country into a christo-fascist dictatorship, but you ABSOLUTE FUCKING DUMBASSES ARE STILL ACTING LIKE THE DEMOCRATS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME, because you don't want to "compromise" your pretentious fake, holier than thou "values"
The only way to preserve democracy and protect people's lives is to vote blue, every position, every election, every year, down the ballot
To the self-righteous pricks who supposedly have liberal views and values but refuse to vote:
Fuck you, rot in hell, everything, every death, every act of tyranny, every drop of blood, is on your hands you selfish pieces of shit

So long as the political and economic system remains intact, voter enfranchisement, though perhaps resisted by overt white supremacists, is still welcomed so long as nothing about the overall political arrangement fundamentally changes. The facade of political equality can occur under violent occupation, but liberation cannot be found in the occupier’s ballot box. In the context of settler colonialism voting is the “civic duty” of maintaining our own oppression. It is intrinsically bound to a strategy of extinguishing our cultural identities and autonomy.
[...]
Since we cannot expect those selected to rule in this system to make decisions that benefit our lands and peoples, we have to do it ourselves. Direct action, or the unmediated expression of individual or collective desire, has always been the most effective means by which we change the conditions of our communities. What do we get out of voting that we cannot directly provide for ourselves and our people? What ways can we organize and make decisions that are in harmony with our diverse lifeways? What ways can the immense amount of material resources and energy focused on persuading people to vote be redirected into services and support that we actually need? What ways can we direct our energy, individually and collectively, into efforts that have immediate impact in our lives and the lives of those around us? This is not only a moral but a practical position and so we embrace our contradictions. We’re not rallying for a perfect prescription for “decolonization” or a multitude of Indigenous Nationalisms, but for a great undoing of the settler colonial project that comprises the United States of America so that we may restore healthy and just relations with Mother Earth and all her beings. Our tendency is towards autonomous anti-colonial struggles that intervene and attack the critical infrastructure that the U.S. and its institutions rest on. Interestingly enough, these are the areas of our homelands under greatest threat by resource colonialism. This is where the system is most prone to rupture, it’s the fragility of colonial power. Our enemies are only as powerful as the infrastructure that sustains them. The brutal result of forced assimilation is that we know our enemies better than they know themselves. What strategies and actions can we devise to make it impossible for this system to govern on stolen land? We aren’t advocating for a state-based solution, redwashed European politic, or some other colonial fantasy of “utopia.” In our rejection of the abstraction of settler colonialism, we don’t aim to seize colonial state power but to abolish it. We seek nothing but total liberation.

Trump and his sycophants have destroyed the Republican Party. They are no longer conservatives either fiscally or on foreign policy. They are a party of chaos beholden to the right-wing culture warrior oligarchs. They are the derogatory agents of those oligarchs and the corporations owned by them. They make decisions based on the whim of a deranged madman.
They have gone from being closet racists/bigots to being full blown Nazis that call for the extermination of their culture war scapegoats they call “vermin” (marginalized people/political rivals). They take this term directly from Hitler who they openly embrace in speech and writing. They no longer care about tax cuts for all but just for the 1% and corporations. They want endless wars to profit from and to distract and rally their deplorable base. They no longer want small, limited government but opt for a massive government that intrudes into its citizens private lives and tramples their freedoms.
The party of law and order is now a party of criminals, sex offenders, grifters, traitors, and murderous street thugs. They are proud of this and fund raise and merchandise from their lawlessness. They have bought control of what is now an illegitimate SCOTUS which never allows them to be held accountable.
They use the KKK, Neo-Nazi groups, armed right-wing militias, Neo-Confederates, and white supremacists to persecute their opponents and victims in the streets and inside the Capitol itself. They tell us to “get over it” when mindless gun violence decimates our families in every public venue from churches, to schools, to 4th of July celebrations, movie theaters, shopping malls, and even a Super Bowl parade.
The police, courts, and legislatures are infested with their white nationalist/supremacists and Christo-fascists. They openly take money from Russia and others to influence our foreign policy and economic policy. Money from Russia is funneled into the NRA and Congress to allow a massive proliferation of gun violence on our streets that destabilizes our society.
They claim to be the party of the military but they degrade and insult our troops and cast our veterans into the streets. They abandon our allies and our treaty obligations at the behest of foreign dictators that bribe them.
They bust our unions and pass laws to weaken or prevent organized labor. They are forcing society to become wage slaves with no security, insurance, or pensions. They force our workers into the “gig economy” where everyone works incredible hours 7 days a week at multiple jobs and still are left unable to afford rent or mortgages. Nearly the entire population is one or two paychecks away from being homeless.
Decades of trickle down economics has seen our tax dollars poured into the accounts of billionaires, millionaires, and corporations with not a penny trickling down to the working class. The middle class has been practically wiped out by cruel Republican legislation written by political think tanks established and funded by oligarchs. The only thing these pseudo-conservatives conserve is their own wealth.
This is late stage capitalism run amok. The economy has been drained and now the oligarchs and corporations are plundering the government. They have taken advantage of decades of right-wing propaganda proliferated by Fox News, conservatives talk radio, and internet podcasts that have brain washed the rural areas into blaming the Democrats that are trying help them while convincing them to vote for the Republicans who have impoverished them. The French Revolution in reverse.
They see the Orange Dictator as their last best chance to completely take over the government and create a kleptocracy that pulls the strings behind an autocracy that pretends to be a republic.
The chaos of the Republican puppets is to distract everyone from the takeover by the oligarchs, corporations, and deep pocketed foreign adversaries.

I don’t know if this is what you are looking for exactly, but I enjoy writing for Postcards to Voters because they focus on non-presidential races. I am currently writing postcards against an anti-choice constitutional amendment proposition in Ohio.
I wish more people would do things like that, instead of making posts that guilt trip people for not being excited enough about voting for the Blue sexual harasser instead of the Red one.
Thank you for your highly sensible response.
I guess there's a thing where "just because someone takes 15 seconds to shoot their mouth off online about something that's annoying them doesn't mean they have the time/energy to do anything actually constructive, even more so for the people who took .5 seconds to hit reblog now on someone else's shooting their mouth of post" but I think it would be strictly better for people to spend that .5 second exerting a smidgen of self control and going "either it's actual GOTV or it's not, and if it's not I'm going to not reblog it."
And as the election is over a year away...I don't think "vote blue no matter who" is actually a Get Out The Vote action at this point in time. It's annoying enough when people do it in person but at least then there's occasionally some chance of having a reasonable discussion about it, but on social media between people who don't really know each other? Ha snowball's chance in hell.
(I haven't done Postcards to Voters the last couple years, but I did around 2019-2020 or so and they are fairly low barrier to entry as long as you have stamp money, super introvert friendly, you can be as creative or non-creative as you want to be, and as you can do it from your home on your own schedule pretty darn spoonie friendly as well. As well as covid-safe. And yes, there's a big focus on local/state campaigns, which warms my participatory democracy loving little heart.) (ughh sounds like an important campaign maybe I should pick this thing up again.)
#I did big posts arguing about this in 2000 but I felt crummy afterwards so I'd really rather not rehash all that#it's theoretically and pragmatically wrong on multiple levels#this is the internet you don't get unity#you get two splinter groups arguing the two most extreme ends of the position possible each side convinced that they are 100% right#someone who's a little bit in favor of voting blue no matter who will get downright dogmatic about it#someone who's a little bit against will end up surrounded by anarchists who think voting is a waste of time#which wouldn't be the worst outcome ever#except that as far as I can tell most of the most vocal anarchists on tumblr don't do shit except tear down democratic politicians#like ok glad you think you're right I don't want to have anything to do with you though#there's like 2-3 anarchist posters on here who actually talk about direct action and organizing and stuff -- about things people can do#I guess with the abundance of time freed up by not spending a couple hours doing research and half an hour filling out a ballot#or much much less time than that if they're voting just for the president#yup congrats you sure saved a lot of time there now you have more time to convince other people to not vote either AWESOME GOOD JOB (sarcas#on an unrelated note I really need to work on a following the local news habit#and finding some way to learn more about oakland's history since I live here now#and I know how annoying it can be when someone's trying to be active in local politics but is missing highly important context

#the discourse with voting in american politics is so exhausting I really don't wanna have to see all that#considered blacklisting 'vote' and 'voting' for now and I might end up doing that but i also might miss some tumblr polls#and those are a fun thing#like vote for sure there's more than one issue but the meanness toward people for being angry at the current administration is so wack#'but remember to vote blue! the democrats are more likely to listen to you! we live in a two party system you have to be realistic!' okay??#federal dems are so annoying with their whole villain of the week charade and weaponized incompetence can you actually blame people?#imo you're better off convincing people to vote .period. instead of also taking time to shame them into voting blue#in the middle of a time where most americans disagree with the actions of the current administration#like.. is this gonna be the strategy forever?? it's exhausting to do the whole 'but the republican guy is worse!' every. single. time.#if the democrats continue to lose it will be their own fault for not choosing to stand for something#they can blame the voters all they want but maybe they should try wielding power they gain effectively? just a thought#it's tough because they do some good things but then they really drop the ball on others and you're left sitting there like wtf#luckily it does look like some people are putting their foot down.. look at that governor from kentucky that won recently#to be clear you SHOULD vote if you can it's one of your rights in this country and there's so much on ballots besides the presidential race#and it's not like who's president isn't important I'm just ranting because the 'vote blue no matter who' crowd gets on my nerves SO MUCH#the discussion IS worth having.. biden will be better on some things but also others won't change much between biden and trump#and you can't just glance over that stuff like democrats tend to do#the moral grandstanding can get so petty I'm just so tired of seeing dumb internet fights#hot take maybe idk#BLEH#I hate it here#😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫#vent#sorry if you read this and it doesn't make sense I've read too much about us politics to be normal about it

7 days. Gas prices won’t matter when you’re speeding your way to go identify your child’s shredded, lifeless body after a mass shooting. We need more substantial gun reform. We need another assault weapons ban. we need to expand the Dem majority in the US house and senate for that. Dems know exactly what to legislate while republicans blame doors. The choice is fxcking clear. Republicans don’t give a fxck about children. Your children’s lives are on the ballot. Vote blue up and down the fxcking ballot.

RepubliKKKlans are a numerical minority and can only win by suppressing minority votes, encouraging Dems not to vote, or encouraging Dems to vote 3rd party.
Republican cultists will always turn out in force and vote as a solid block no matter who their candidate is
We can only win if you turn out and vote blue from Biden/Harris down to every last Democrat on the ballot.

If you vote blue all the way down the ballot we can take back the House of Representatives and send MAGA Mike to the trash bin of history.

Just as you should be wary of people telling you not to vote, you should be wary of people telling you to vote third party
Look, the fact of the matter is third parties don't get very far in the us, and voting third party more often than not hurts one party and helps the other
And the party it usually helps is the republicans (this is literally what happened in 2016)
We cannot afford that right now, not when trump is the candidate (or any of the other republican candidatess, they're all terrible), not when republicans are aiming to end democracy, genocide queers, and permanently legally establish women and non whites as lower classes
Vote blue 2024, down the ballot

I would be a lot less pissy about the "vote blue" guilt trip (Jesus Christ, it's starting already - ten more fucking months we're gonna hear this shit) if just for ONCE they weren't scolding and condescending like the people complaining about Biden are a bunch of brainwashed, media-illiterate ingrates who don't know how to keep a boot off their necks.
For once, I'd like to see one that says, "Yeah, we know he's a genocidal monster pushing funding for Israeli weapons. We know what he's doing to Yemen. We know what he's doing at the border. We know what he's doing to tribal lands. If there was any fucking justice in this world, he wouldn't be running again at all. If there was any justice, we would actually have a political left in America instead of a right and a far right. I'm so sorry this is the choice you have to make. This is how far down we are, and we still have to hold the line. Please, help us hold the line despite everything."
I know, I KNOW that Trump is worse. I will vote. I will throw up in my mouth while I fill in the bubble next to Biden's name, but I will do it. I will walk that rancid joke of a ballot downtown and spit on the ballot box when I'm done. But every time I see a post listing that fucker's accomplishments like they erase unconscionable war crimes, I want to do it less.
