Holy hell!! I had no idea there was an age limit. I guess I should be locked up and just wait for my impending death then.

Does this mean you think David Guetta, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren should stop creating and should retire and wither away? And Carl Cox turned 60 this year. And what about the Blessed Madonna. She is 45 and considered an icon as well. Is that too old? There are so many more I could name.

While I'm not 20 I am younger than those talented artists.

And have you ever been to an Electric Daisy Carnival? My bro and I have been going off and on since before it moved to Las Vegas. We share a love of EDM and music festivals and now we get to go with the men we love who also share our enjoyment. And the Electric Daisy Carnival is one of the most diverse, inclusive, loving festivals we have ever attended. Everyone is so friendly, accepting and helpful. There were also only 39 arrests for the entire 3 days. There was NO violence. You are free to be who you are there. My brother and bro in law were able to hold hands, dance together and hold each other and nobody said anything or gave dirty looks.

We even saw ravers in their 50s there. There is no age limit to raving.

Its more fun than Coachella. We stopped going a few years back because its basically turned into a vapid Instagram fest and stopped being about the music. For me the last truly wonderful and memorable Coachella was when Prince performed in 2008.

So we may not be 20 anymore but what makes that great is we're old enough to pay for the VIP experience and rent a very comfortable RV to stay in instead of tent camping. And the complimentary breakfast we got after the music ended at 4:30AM gave us the energy to make it back to the RV. And we'll be going to music festivals until our bodies can no longer handle it.

Question #8: What does the Hotel Obsidian add to the story?

Felicia Day: Well, we couldn’t let a season of The Umbrella Academy go without, you guessed it! Twitter emojis! You will get a special surprise depending on whether or not you’re using light or dark mode, so go take a look. With the Sparrows, we also get a fan-favorite setting introduced in season three, Hotel Obsidian. In season one, we had the Umbrella mansion, in season two, we were in the 60’s. What does this new setting of Hotel Obsidian add to the story? David?

David Castañeda: Well, I— I mean, just the production of it was just insane. When we got to walk in the first time it was like you were transported into a different world, it was beautiful how they were able to put it. And we shot throughout that whole thing, so, it— it pretty much became the backbone to the whole story.

Felicia: Yeah. Genesis, did the Sparrows spend a lot of time at this hotel or is this something, something you knew— knew you'd find out in the season?

Genesis Rodriguez: Yes, there’s quite a bit, quite a bit in that new space. And it— I mean really what they were able to do, set-wise, was actually incredible. And with some, like, um, interesting materials, too. Wasn’t there like a paper cup-holder—

Emmy Raver-Lampman: Oh, yeah.

Genesis: —that was disguised as wall? And we were like what?

David: Yeah, oh yeah. 

Emmy: We’re very green on The Umbrella Academy. We make our sets out of recycling. *laughs* 

Felicia: Oh good.

Genesis: Yeah, it was, like, very impressive. 

Tom Hopper: Very forward-thinking.

Emmy: Cup trays from coffee shops.

Genesis: Very impressive.

Felicia: Tom, how many Yelp stars would you give this hotel?

Tom: Well, I think— it looks a little tired, the Obsidian. It looks like one of those older Vegas hotels, you know?

I. Introduction:

Being within the California rave community, I, alongside with many others, have noticed the cost of attending events and purchasing items at the venue, will lead to a large debt in many people’s accounts. There have been many justifications made within regards to the expenses, yet there is a more economical standpoint behind such entertainment activity. 

When attending a small rave, there is usually a popular dj and a couple of openers (3-4), where these are rising artists. When it comes to festivals (consisting more than 2 days), there are over 30 DJs who perform at different times throughout the majority of the day. To ravers, the price to attend these small raves/festivals usually range from $20-$400, depending on the scale of the event. Many ravers are phased depending on the price for the lineup that is presented, as whether the genre of EDM music they would not pay or there is a large dislike on the lineup.

The market for raving in California will display an inelastic demand for raving within California. Although there are other substitutes for entertainment, a lot of ravers find raving as their main hobby and do not invest as much money into other forms of entertainment. With the exclusive lineups and unique experiences at every rave, the demand is inelastic. Being such a community ground for many people, ravers find many prices justified, as they are able to receive such positive interactions with the community.

III. Oligopoly Environment

Raving in California, mainly ravers would only know of Insomniac Events. Insomniac Events hosts large venues at San Bernardino’s NOS Event Center and is most known for EDC (largest EDM festival, but in Vegas). Their similar competitors would be Brownies and Lemonade or Live Nation, but still the largeness of Insomniac Events is incomparable, as they have been around for the longest time within EDM history. They are considered the root of how EDM has become popularized today. Many of the smaller raves are called underground, as smaller EDM companies fail to get recognition with the amount of legal compliance required within California and the high initial investment for the venue, lasers, sound systems, etc.
