Canon background info: Henry and Walter
So I thought it would be interesting to list what little info we have learned from canon about these two - and what we can infer from it! More specifically, about their family backgrounds, because they seem like pretty typical examples of the student population of Hillerska.
Tumblr media
Okay so, let's start with the guy we know more about.
Henry: aristocratic
Tumblr media
Oldest son of a noble family (S1E4, Society scene):
This is the very definition of an elite background; the aristocracy only makes up 2/1000 of Sweden's population.
He may have been raised in a relatively patriarchal and heteronormative environment. Only noble men can pass their rank on, and only to biological children by a wedded wife. Traditionally, the main responsibility for the survival of the house fell on the oldest son.
Statistically, Henry's family is likely to be untitled and from somewhere around Stockholm. The Swedish House of Nobility reports that there are 657 noble houses left, 480 of them untitled. Twice as many live in Stockholm and the surrounding region as the rest of the country combined.
It's also quite likely that August's comment in S3E2, on going to "a school in the city, with sossar and new-money white trash" refers to the elite schools in Stockholm rather than just any city. The fact that August originally addresses Henry could imply that Henry is indeed from the Stockholm region, but this is just speculation.
Politically right-leaning (S1E1, social studies):
Henry was likely raised liberal-conservative. In Sweden, this usually means the Moderate Party - they support things like tax cuts, the free market, economic liberalism, and civil liberties. (Note that this usually includes same-sex marriage, for example!)
Family estate (S1E1):
This isn't a farm as such, but grounds belonging to a manor house. (Or at least there will have been a manor house in the past.)
The EU subsidies mentioned by Simon are agricultural subsidies. People with big inherited estates are eligible for huge sums.
In his PRP interview, Fabian said he imagined Henry's family owning some forest. It's possible, but just his headcanon.
Dad on the Hillerska parents' council (S2E1, outside church):
This isn't a decision-making body, just an interface for cooperation and contact between the parents and school. In real life, families who have been attending for a long time are often represented on the school board too.
Dad once dated Walter's mum (S1E3, after Parents' Day):
They must've lost touch. Henry's dad recognised Walter's last name, and the dub tells us he asked if Henry knew Walter or his family. Also in the dub, Walter goes, "That explains why there was a flirty vibe!" to which Henry replies, "It was really like, like they knew each other."
Henry and Walter probably wouldn't be talking so openly if it was their dads who dated, and their dads definitely would not have flirted at Parents' Day. We see in the show how same-sex relationships are often kept quiet even today, and this would've been 20+ years ago. Also, even if Henry's dad was interested in guys, I doubt he have openly dated one for a whole year (his upbringing will have been a more conservative version of Henry's).
There's more to be said about this, but let's move on to...
Walter: business elite?
Tumblr media
Not noble (S1E3, gossip scenes in S1E6 & S2E4, last name in S3E3):
Walter may have his mother's last name, which would not be the case if he was from a noble family. It's also possible his dad is the guy his mum dated right/soon after Henry's dad (but the focus seems to be on his mum).
If he is noble, he must have an older brother, since he's not a member of the Society.
On a more speculative note, Walter and Henry's reactions to gossip about Wille could also be significant. In S1E6, Walter eagerly gossips about the video, while Henry at least tries to act supportive when Wille returns to school. In S2E4, Henry only tells Walter about Wille/Felice and is ashamed when Vincent puts him on the spot in front of Wille, whereas Walter promptly tells everyone and is amused by the tabling. This could just be a difference in character, but it could also point to a difference in family background. The aristocracy's wealth and status is derived from their past service or allegiance to the Crown, which prompts more loyalty and support for the monarchy and royal family than, say, wealth and status of bourgeois/tradesman/business origins.
In S3E3, we briefly see Walter's IG handle, which includes his last name! It's something starting with Strömba- or Strömbä-. That's an unusual combination that only lends itself to a handful of alternatives, none of them noble-sounding. The most likely one is Strömbäck - a real, non-noble name that has about 1,100 bearers in Sweden, making it pretty rare and a good fit for a wealthy but non-noble family! [FYI: the 'ä' is pronounced as an 'e'.]
Not new money either (S1E3):
Walter's mum was part of the same social sphere as Henry's dad, possibly even went to school with him, since they dated for a year in their youth.
She could've technically been new money at the time (meaning her parents made their fortune themselves), but her son would already fall in the space between old and new. Old money means inherited wealth, sustained over multiple generations, and Walter is at least two generations removed.
Politically right-leaning; potential business elite (S1E1):
Walter's political views are similar to Henry's, but his perspective is that of a wealthy business owner (he thinks tax evaders have already contributed by creating jobs).
It's likely that there's a family company. They may still be involved in the daily business operations, but it's at least as likely that they just own shares and sit on the board. (Different from Alexander's dad, for example.)
This makes Walter's background less elite than Henry's - but the richer they are and the longer they have been rich, the smaller the gap is. At the real boarding schools, the richest kids are just below the nobles in the hierarchy, and in society at large, the non-aristocratic elite is still very much part of the elite.
I'm sure the Strömbäck family aren't meant to be Wallenberg rich, though!
...and I think that's about all we know about Walter's background so far!
---
Hope you enjoyed this dive into their backgrounds! As always, please feel free to let me know if I missed or misinterpreted something. Especially if you are Swedish, as I am just from one of the neighbouring countries.

Do you think Henry told everyone about Felice & Wille, or did he tell Valter and he told someone else and then chain of gossip contd. What is your take on this? And, yes please, let's talk about YR, not actors' private lives or YRtwt bullshits.
Bopbop hard to tell! Both scenarios are possible, but since Henry said he only told Valter, I believe that’s the case.
Henry is the person who involuntarily knows everything going on lol

Ok. I gonna talk about my problem with the focus of August/Sara romance in S2. One last post about what I don't like about season 2 before I start to write what I actually like about season 2. (I'm a overly critical person and very opinionated, so if you are looking for positive feedbacks only just don't read. I very much argue and make no promises to not offend💀 discussions welcome tho)
⚠️ YR Season 2 Major Spoilers ⚠️
The choice of having August/Sara as the main relationship and having more screentime than even Wilmon is simply unwised. If the production team did their research, which I believe they definitely did, they would know exactly how many people watch the show for Wilmon. Other ships (romantic, friendship, or familial) don't even get nearly as much attention. As an audience I want to see more Wilmon, even if it's all pinning and angst, not the how happy, sweet, and genuine the main "vilian couple August/Sara" is. August/Sara relationship is there to serve a purpose, as a potential problem for Wilhelm, Simon, and wilmon's relationship. The amount of screentime August/ Sara romance has (way too much in my opinion) swifts the focus away. My point is, I'm not against August/Sara having a sweet relationship, I just dislike how it takes up disproportional amount of the screentime. With very limited screentime (only 4 hours), some more screentime is better spent on Wilmon or Felice. Felice becomes a complete supporting character in season 2 and doesn't even have a plot of her own outside of her friendships is unfitting for the importance of her character.
Wilhelm is the main character, and everything revolves around him. Other characters screentime should depends on how much/less they ultimately affect Wilhelm at this specific stage of the story, plus a bit of their own character developments. However, I see the production team wants to make YR a teen drama that has several main focuses and the characters could have their own arcs & development. Unfortunately, they don't have nearly enough screentime for that. (Maybe make it 10 episode if that's what they want🤔) The amount of screentime in my opinion is only enough for a story develops tightly around Wilhelm plus a bit other major supporting characters' development.
This is why I love how they deal with Nils, Vincent, and Henry's characters in this season. Just the right amount of screentime to show their characters and serves a purpose. Nils provides ideas that what Wilhelm could've done if he hook up with one of their own and stays in closet. Vincent becomes the team leader under Wilhelm's push, and shows how power is perceived & abused in aristocrat teen boys with a hierachy in mind (in a not so smart way😂, also in contrast to August). Henry is still the lil rumors spreader. He also shows how the beta boys choose who to follow depending on how the power dynamics shifts.
According to my own lil story contribution theory, here is how I would rank the importance of the characters from the first tier to the 4th in season 2.
1st: Wilhelm
1.5th: Simon
2nd: August, Felice, Sara
(see how little time Felice is given for her own development that's unrelated to Wilhelm? How much time August & Sara get? August & Sara being a couple very much affect Wilhelm & Simon from the story perspective. But the little details of their relationship, like how sweet their morning after is, is not Wilhelm related and shouldn't be given this much time.)
2.5th: Kristina, Marcus(as for S2)
3rd: Vincent, Nils, Henry, Alexander, Stella, Fredricka, Boris, Ayub, Rosh
4th: Madison, Linda, Jean-Olaf, Valter
(I will edit the above if I think I forget someone or get their name wrong 🤪)
👆 so my conclusion here is that August/Sara and their relationship takes up disproportional amount of screentime that should be distributed to Felice & Wilmon. I would definitely skip August/Sara's happy little sweet scenes during my rewatch (as well as Wilhelm/Felice make out scene💀).

Have you watched any of her TV shows?

I've seen eagles. I liked it but sometimes the quality felt very meh. Like it's an intriguing show but not amazing quality.
Tried Zebrarummet but didn't like it (it is very elite-ish and looks very pleasing but I never got into it) both Wilma and Valter Skarsgård is in it and so are alot of big swedish actors. It is like an edgy and dark elite-young royals crossover but without the feels. So totally a different vibe compared to YR even if both are upper class boarding school.
It's not a bad show but I didn't feel engaged and skipped to the final episode, realised I didn't understand shit and turned it off.
One day I'll give it a shot

Time for a little Walty (Henry/Walter)* poll!
*Or Valty (Henry/Valter) if you prefer. I'm sticking with the W.
It's safe to say that S3 and the meadow scene in particular have made many people more aware of this background ship and may have even shifted some viewers' perceptions of them. I figured it might be fun to see if thoughts on their status at the end of canon differ between shippers/fans and non-shippers.
So, hcs and fanon aside...
Feel free to justify your choice in the tags/replies! Please be respectful though - I don't want to see any ship wars or hate for these characters, people who enjoy them or even people who dislike them!
Reblogs for larger sample size are much appreciated! See reblog for my own thoughts.

Voice of Katla
Stop whatever you are doing, put you headphones on and let the volcano Katla sing you the song of her people.
Voice of Katla is a musical piece made of seismic data from the volcano, turned in to music by Hogni Egilsson and Gudrun Yr Eyfjord (Grima).
What do you think?

Solvay, IndustriALL renew their global framework agreement for 5 yrs
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM: Solvay SA has renewed its global framework agreement (GFA) with the IndustriALL Global Union for five years, reinforcing and adding commitments that provide the same basic labour and social rights to all Solvay employees at operations worldwide.
With the agreement, Solvay reaffirms its respect for the International Labor Organization’s social standards and the principles of the United Nations Global Compact. It now also includes its commitment to the OECD’s guidelines for multinational enterprises. Solvay expects its suppliers and subcontractors to apply these same principles.
The GFA has been updated to add new social projects, such as the protection of mental safety at work and societal actions and reinforces Solvay’s commitments to health & safety at work, anti-discrimination, diversity as well as environmental protection.
The signatories will continue their two joint missions per year to assess Solvay’s safety policies and the agreement’s implementation in a country and a site chosen with IndustriALL. Solvay Global Forum of eight Solvay union representatives from major countries, will from now on be in charge of monitoring the fulfilment of the agreement.
Valter Sanches, IndustriALL General Secretary and Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, CEO of Solvay signed the renewal of their three-year accord at Solvay’s headquarters. Also present were Kemal Okzan, IndustriALL Assistant General Secretary; Albert Kruft, coordinator of Solvay Global Forum; and Caroll Landry, International VP of United Steelworkers.
“For Solvay, the five-year renewal is a testimony of the relationship of trust we’ve successfully developed with IndustriALL for more than a decade now. We advocate an open, challenging and constructive dialogue with our employees and their representatives. This dialogue is part of our sustainability commitments and a contributor to our overall performance,” said Clamadieu.
“This agreement is a benchmark in terms of social dialogue in the chemical industry. We have established a strong culture and constructive labour relations worldwide over the last 12 years. The renewal brings a Global Forum, which will be an important platform for dialogue between a union and employee representatives,” added Sanches.
