Thinking about how softly and delicately Simon runs his fingers over Wille's face, and the fact that he does it the first and last time they spend together.
in season one, it's long and youthful. we see him constantly pushing it back. despite the fact that he's not next in line for the throne, he still has responsibilities, still has the pressure to be "perfect" like his brother and keep his life orderly and proper.
in season two, it's been chopped off. he's kind of been stripped of any freedom he has after assuming the role as crown prince. there's bigger expectations placed on him now. but even with this newer, mature haircut, he keeps trying to fix it, as though something's still not quite right.
at the end of season three, we see wille's short hair very messy in comparison to how it's been thus far. he's finally able to just let it be, able to live the life he wants and to stop trying to fit into a role he never wanted. he doesn't have to pretend anymore. he's free.
the final look that wilhelm gave the camera after being set free from his crown was the only happiest, non-anxious, look he's ever given throughout the entire series
