At any given moment, i am thinking about Apex Alpha!Ushijima.

Not just alpha. But apex Alpha.

It’s pretty clear even from a distance that Ushijima is like no other alpha around him. Taller than any of his fellows, undoubtedly broader, he takes up space in a way the others fail to. His face is set in a perpetual blank look. Something in his expression screams ‘watch out’.

He also has an excruciating presence. When he enters a room, the scent of every other alpha pales in comparison. Even before he presented, Ushijima had an aura about him, so no one was surprised when he presented not only as an alpha, but an apex.

Shiratorizawa is proud to have an Apex in their ranks, considering how rare a breed they are. Ushijima is a star pupil, a star athlete. Shiratorizawa’s golden boy. The alphas revere him. They can’t even bring themselves to have a jealous streak when it comes to him. All that exists is envy. And the knowledge that they can never be him.

And the omegas. Oh lord. The omegas throw themselves at his feet. Often figuratively, and sometimes even literally. An apex alpha would be the ideal mate. The very pinnacle of the food chain. Any omega who he ended up with Ushijima would be the luckiest little thing on the planet. What a rare luck it would be, bagging an apex alpha as your mate?

Imagine how the school reels in surprise when Ushijima sets his sights on you.

You are, by no means, special. You are not a prime omega. Your scent, while undoubtedly omega, is light. It is not an omega scent that reels alphas in with how rich it is. Your stature isn’t particularly impressive for an omega either, though it isn’t bad. There is no way to describe it. You are just….. ordinary.

So you are confused as all hell when the king of alphas, an apex, presents you with a delicate bracelet one day. He had always been friendly with you, and you assumed it was just him being kind to the students of Shiratorizawa as part of his makeshift pack. But this, a thin, shiny chain with a single heart-shaped charm, made his intentions clear. This was a courting gift, there was no two ways about it.

You saw the apex alpha smile for the first time when you accepted his gift. And it solidified the fact that you accepted his advances.

Being courted by an apex alpha was also an interesting experience. Different to other alphas. His gifts were extremely personalised, stuff that he knew you needed or would be very useful. He was a man of few words, but his actions were glaring, they seemed to scream his intentions at you loud and clear. His aura and scent were so strong that there wasn’t even any need for him to scent you or your things. Five minutes in his presence meant that everyone would know where you had been for hours afterward. Despite being so physically huge, his touch was gentle and comforting. And slowly, you grew so attached to him that it hurt to be without.

Overtime, you realised that a lot of what ushijima did was not his status but rather just him. He was naturally so firm yet gentle. His gifts being so practical was just how his mind worked. Being a good person and a good leader was not because he was an apex, but because he was….. Ushijima Wakatoshi.

It was so easy to love him. And to choose him as your mate. He was truly the ideal. And every second of every day you were grateful that he had chosen you, for whatever reason, to be his omega.

Just the thought of Apex Alpha!Ushijima is so near and dear to me. If anyone can be an Apex, it’s him.

omg jen 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩 i have like a trillion things prepared for today let me tell u……… i got him way too many clothes by accident but who cares hubby deserves the universe and more <3 i convinced toshi to make a wishlist months ago bc he’s too busy to go shopping with me sometimes so i took advantage of it. he has no idea <3 i saw a sexy wristwatch omw home and i couldn’t help myself so i bought it. and a huge monstera. and books. and two more matching sets for when we go to the gym or jogging together 🤍🤍

💭 summary: you broke it off with your good-for-nothing ex, and while managing the volleyball team distracted you for a little bit, the pain still subsisted. that was until the most unlikely of boys to help cheer you up and forget your problems helped made you feel the one thing no other boy or lover you've ever has had: truly loved.

you tried to keep your tears in and smile your way through the searing pain left in your heart as you involuntarily reminisced the phone call between you and your ex, the one where they broke it off with you so coldly that it didn't feel like you two spent nearly all of junior high and the first two years of highschool together. you couldn't say anything to keep them, all you could do was choke back your tears and mumble out that you hope they'd do okay with their life, even without you.

a part of you felt like that was a huge lie, though. how could you wish someone who you loved dearly a good life they don't even want to spend the rest of it with you?

that's just the way things go, though, you thought to yourself as you rubbed at your eyes to keep the tears from spilling out. tendou and semi once caught you sobbing to yourself when you were getting the mops in the storage closet, you couldn't stomach it when they asked you what was wrong, if you needed anything, or if something happened. despite knowing and feeling the unrelenting pain in your chest and throat at the thought of it, you had to lie, it was second nature to you to mask up your feelings.

it wasn't just them, though—nearly everyone on the team caught on to the changes in your behavior, many of them were asking you to please take a break if you weren't in the right headspace, but you always insisted that you were fine, just a little... a little tired, was all. you sat down on the bench, absentmindedly taking notes about things you couldn't even process, your head being empty except for your ex's voice popping into your head every now and then, reminding you that they didn't want to stay with you anymore. you stopped writing and let out a shuddered sigh, a few tears pricking at the corner of your eyes.

"...you don't seem fine, are you fatigued?" asked a low, rumbling voice from next to you. you turned to look up at them, with wakatoshi staring back at you with his iconic neutral expression and sharp gaze. you smiled at him awkwardly, telling him you weren't, well... maybe just a bit, mentally, but you promised him you'd be fine. he blinked in response, putting his water bottle down, sitting next to you on the bench, watching the practice match from the sidelines with you.

this wasn't really like him, he usually was on the court unless coach washijo would call him out for something, he never stayed to warm the benches; and it was a good thing too, because with all his bulk, you really felt like he had the capacity to break the bench cleanly in half if he tried. you twiddled with your thumbs, not looking at him, despite how eye-catching the big boy was. he turned his olive eyes down to look at you, noticing how silent you've been, as the others have pointed out. "...are you hungry?" he breaks the silence with that question, bearing his gaze onto you, not tearing his eyes away from you for even a second.

you couldn't remember the last time you ate, nor the last thing you ate—you did have some nights when you'd cry yourself to sleep, forgetting to eat dinner, and you couldn't even remember if you ate your breakfast that morning... you were too torn up and distracted by the overwhelmingly painful feeling in your heart at the fact you weren't wanted anymore by the person you loved most. you winced and shook your head reluctantly, but your stomach growled out for you, begging to have something in it.

you grew embarrassed at how loud your stomach was being, but wakatoshi saw no problem with your body having needs. to him, your body was a wonder; not in the sense of attraction or desire, but rather, your body was beautiful the way it was. you were enough to wakatoshi, and it left a bothersome feeling in the pit of his stomach that you couldn't see yourself that way.

the boy got up and went over to get the food he packed this morning. he came back with a full bento box that he himself picked out in the cafeteria, it was packed with protein-filled foods, your favorites, in fact. "eat up." he uttered with a throaty voice, looking at you as you shyly took the box and utensils from his hands. he took his seat next to you, keeping his eyes on you the whole time, watching you until you opened it up to eat. "but... this is your food, ushijima..." you murmured, bashful at the fact that he gave you his food. "...so?" "so... i can't eat this..." "...unless you don't like it, i won't force you to eat. but you need to eat, you're growing. and... it's the least i can do for you." he murmured, moving a little closer to you.

you felt your face grow a little hotter at what he said; and despite it being hard to find the appetite to eat after what happened to you... you didn't want to keep him nor your stomach waiting, so you thanked him in a shy mumble, with him nodding in response, watching you eat small portions of his food, gradually eating more and more, while the tears you were holding in starting falling down. the sound of your sniffles and your chewing blended together, with you not knowing if you wanted to cry or eat first. wakatoshi didn't mind that you cried, he honestly didn't know what to say or do else in this situation, so he handed you his extra water bottle and towel to clear your throat, replenish your fluids, and to wipe your tears.

he was silent, but he cared. he cared about how you were doing, even if it took him a long while to muster up the courage to make the first move. he was never the type to get all overly fussy or loving towards someone, let alone someone he was supposed to respect as his manager and colleague, never as anyone else; but you weren't just somone else to wakatoshi.

you were someone wakatoshi enjoyed being around. you were someone wakatoshi wanted to see smiling. you were important to wakatoshi ushijima, and through his little gestures... he made it known to you that he wanted to make you happy, even if he didn't know why you were sad or if he could be the boy to make that happen.

it was a strange feeling, to be given the first good taste of something after having such foul tastes in your mouth after the breakup. it hurt to think about, but knowing wakatoshi did something special, albeit ordinary, for you... it made your heart a lot lighter. you drifted your glistening eyes to him, and you swore you saw a hint of a smile on the usually stoic boy's face. it made you a little warm, seeing him look at you like that—but you can't, not when you're recovering from a heartbreak...

"...you're adorable when you eat." "ah, th-thank you..." "i might get more portions for you next time, just in case you forget to eat." "you don't have to, though..." "but i want to." he spoke in such a raspy voice, one that used to intimidate you, but now... kind of made you feel a flutter in your chest as he stared down at you, his sharp gaze not looking threatening, but instead... quite comforting.

you can't possibly be falling for him, though... could you?

Crusader Ushijima

The reunion had been heartwarming. Ushijima is standing proudly with his back straight, gloved hands circling around the handle of his claymore, eyes are looking forward and unto your figure. His cloak and armor is stained in dried blood, almost turning to black, hair disheveled and all over the place, and there's soot sticking to his cheeks. He's a mess but he remained stuck in his place. If you looked closely, his eyes are rimmed red, marked with unshed tears, jaws clenched tightly.

You would have caressed those cheeks, wiping them in affection, lightly planting kisses in his jaws to release that tension. The scowl in his face are intimidating and you'd trace your lithe fingers in between his eyebrows.

The reunion had been heartwarming, flickers of embers licked your calves, scorching your skin in unimaginable pain, smoke snaked through your nose suffocating you. Your throat is burning as tears stung your eyes, clouding your vision. Your hands are tied behind you, restricting any movements. It's hot, too hot, but incomparable to the drop of cold betrayal from the person you gave your all.

A desperate wail escaped your lips.

"TOSHI! AHHH! SAVE ME! IT HURTS!"

And you hear it, the cries of the townsfolk branding you a witch, a heretic, a devil, being punished for a crime of seducing the beloved blessed knight.
