here's a little overinterpretation of the Usami family's names that i originally shared on the SihJr Discord server a while ago:

(to make it easier to understand, i'll add the translation from japanese: haru = spring, natsu = été, aki = autumn, fuyu = winter

Isn't it intriguing that Usagi's 1st name is Akihiko despite him being born at the end of Winter? I understand that they couldn't name him Fuyuhiko since it's his father's name already, but they could have at least tried to find something more related to Winter. I get that all Usamis have a season in their 1st name, but still!

I think it might be a way to show that from the beginning, his father didn't care about him as a person and wanted him to follow the exact path he'd chosen for him.

Fuyuhiko didn't care that his son's name was not coherent with his date of birth, as long as it followed the family pattern.

He doesn't care about Akihiko as a person nor does he care about his desires, he only cares about Akihiko's place in the Usami family.

Also funny that Fuyuhiko is Winter and Natsuko is summer, as they are opposite. It's like they were meant to not get along and dislike eachother in the end.

I may be getting too much from the names, but the fact that Haruhiko is Spring is interesting because Spring comes right after Winter, and Haruhiko is the one who's trying to follow their father's path and is obedient (at least in the beginning). On the other end, Akihiko is Autumn which follows Summer, therefore Akihiko takes more from his mother, Natsuko. He looks like her and hates Fuyuhiko as much as his mother does.

Also, according to the wiki page, Misaki means "beautiful" and "blossom", while Akihiko means "autumn" and "prince". So a beautiful blossoming and an autumn prince. Opposites, because blossom is mostly associated to Spring which is the opposite season of Autumn. I'm going far here, but maybe Misaki represents something that keeps Akihiko (Autumn) from reaching Fuyuhiko (Winter). What I mean is, Akihiko never wanted to become like his father, but the lack of positivity and meaningful relationships in his life (aside from Takahiro) pushed him towards a cold, egoistical, indifferent behaviour, until Misaki arrived.

He was becoming like his manipulative father, until he met someone, Misaki, who helped him change his path. Misaki is the source of Akihiko's changes, he made them BLOSSOM inside Akihiko!

He also helped Haruhiko find the courage to start and do what he really wanted to do. In other words, he stopped Akihiko's downfall and freed Haruhiko from what was keeping him from moving forward. In both cases, Misaki has helped them distance themselves from Fuyuhiko, from Winter.

Blossom is also linked with the idea of something young and new, which is exactly what Misaki is. It is also a moment for changes, which is what he brings to the Usami family.

Anyway, I may have overinterpreted things, but weither it's on purpose or a coincidence, I think it's interesting.

I'll add, as I'm re-reading this, that Spring is the season of birth and re-birth, while autumn is the season during which nature starts to "die", but isn't fully dead yet, thus Akihiko being on a downfall path that would ultimately lead him to become an asshole like his father, until Misaki came around and brought him back to "life", to his own humanity.

can we all just collectively forget and ignore the first two episodes of junjou romantica.. ESPECIALLY the first one. i'm one for acknowledging the flaws this show has as it's literally my hyper-fixation and has been for many years, but some of the authors choices cross the line unfortunately like many others (especially at the time) with the due fact to what other people have said and using common, moral knowledge.
