Welcome back to Arcadia University for the 2023 academic year. We hope that your break was restful. As we commence with the new year, it is our honor to request your attendance at the 157th annual Valentine’s Gala.

Find your date and join your peers for an evening of dinner, conversation, and camaraderie. Come dressed in your finest attire in coordination with your chosen soulmate for the evening. As is University tradition, we will hold a vote for the 2023 Valentine’s Gala Best Dressed Lord and Lady.

We ask that you report to your advisor to reserve your spot at your earliest convenience. If you have a special financial circumstance and will require additional support, please let your advisor know.

We are eager to see you come February 14th, 2023.

Arcadia University students will gather in the freshly redecorated Cicely Hall for the 2023 Valentine’s Gala to celebrate the start of the new year. This event will encourage students to rekindle old relationships and start new ones in search of their chosen soulmate for the evening. This is an opportunity for well-off students to familiarize themselves with their fellow rich peers, and for citizen students to introduce themselves to the lifestyles of the upper-class and find camaraderie among their peers.

Cicely Hall’s formal space will come to life with bursts of reds and pinks that set the heart aflame. Students are greeted by heart shaped, red rose covered arches adorned with twinkling lights as they enter the space. Small round tables – set for two couples each – dot the hall, covered in white table cloths with centerpieces of white tulips and red roses. At the center of the space is the dance floor, where the 2023 Valentine’s Gala Best Dressed Lord and Lady are expected to dance with each other immediately following the announcement.

Photo booths line the sides of the hall freely available to eager students who wish to hold physical mementos of the moment. Food and non-alcoholic beverages catered from Winthrop Hall are abundant, but there are usually student organized after parties held where drinks are served. Though occasionally, students wish to continue festivities with their dates in private.

Citizen students who cannot afford custom made gowns and suits will have several choices for their Valentine’s Gala outfit. They may go through their respective advisor at the University to be given access to a number of donated gowns and suits from previous years. They may work for seamstresses in the city who may be willing to supply them with a gown or suit, though this route would require previous sewing knowledge. Alternatively, they could simply go in whatever they can afford.

Arcadia University selects a 2023 Valentine’s Gala Best Dressed Lord and Lady annually by a voting process that takes place on the night of the gala. Traditionally, students have been encouraged to vote for whom they consider to be best dressed for the evening on the basis of their fashion. In reality however, the voting process tends to turn into a popularity contest with the results largely reflecting the most liked and popular students over the previous year. Despite this, Lady Astor does not always agree with the results. Check the gossip blog to see her take on the winners.
