it's curious that the quarry goes so hard on ryan's friendship with kaylee and caleb when the player never even meets the siblings.
ryan seems bummed he couldn't say goodbye to them. he comes to their defense when people insinuate they're a little weird. you can find a photo of the three of them. clearly they're close - or at least, one of ryan's stronger bonds at camp.
later, kaylee's death makes ryan way less trusting of laura - not to mention it causes constance to throw "no more blood on our hands" out the window and decide she doesn't actually give a shit if the counselors live or die.
that death is a big moment, and i think it'd hit harder if supermassive actually let me get to know the girl.

I like to think the UD Deaths by Hannah represent their “parts” in the prank
Emily- she sees all of the prank take part and enjoys it (she gets her eyes gorged out)
Jess- she planned the prank and got mostly everyone to join in (she gets her jaw broken)
Matt- records? Hannah taking off her shirt (in his main Hannah death she puts him on a hook= wanting to make a show out of him like he did to her)
Ashley- laughs at Hannah being humiliated bc of her crush (Hannah mimics Jess’s voice and cuts off her head and if Jess is dead her head will drop so I definitely think Hannah does that to embarrass Ashley while she dies)
Chris- while not apart of the prank, Hannah can kill Chris away from the cabin and throws his head at the door (100% on purpose and probably to make the rest upset)
Josh- the only one who can’t have his head preserved (I like to think this represents the creature not wanting Hannah to have any more memories of her past life or Hannah being “angry” about Josh not being able to protect her and Beth since he was so drunk)
Sam- again not apart of the prank, but Hannah stabs her in the stomach which could be another way of implying she’s gutless since she doesn’t try to stop the prank (we know Sam does try but Hannah probably didn’t)

a/n : im. so sorry it took me so long to make this anon 💀 i dont dislike any of the UD characters but matt and josh werent high up on my list so its cool to focus on them for this. hope yall enjoy :)

you knew josh first, having met him and his friends in middle school thanks to being on the same soccer team as sam and beth.
when you met josh you thought he was a bit weird becuase of him being rather...eccentric, but he quickly warmed up to you when he saw how well you got along with his sister. after that it was all long laughs and numerous hangouts.
eventually your fondness for each other develops into a mutual crush on the other, but you both dont want to ruin what you have so it remains unsaid.
eventually the time for the annual blackwood pines trip comes along and you (and your entire friend group at this point) are hoping josh will make a move or youll have to.
but things were differnt this year with the new addition to the friend group in the form of matt taylor, resident jock next door.
you had seen him around school before, never really talking to him minus the few interactions when hed ask you for help on a question in english and you to him in math.
now he and mike were both on the football team, so he introduced him to everyone and josh said he could tag along on the trip after knowing him for a few months.
you had to admit that he was super cute, not just in the face but in his actions as well. deapite starting to become close friends with nearly everyone, he still was a bit reserved and polite, mostly keeping to himself, mike, josh, jess, and you.
on the way up to the lodge you walked beside him, succesfully getting him to open up to you and start talking more about himself and his interests, finding you have more in common than you thought.
the fleeting moments you have with him during the trip make you confused, you still have strong feelings for josh but being around matt makes your heart flutter...
when you tell jess this one night in your room she says "maybe you just like both of them" like its the easiest thing in the world.
you know shes right, but you dont know what to do. do you just go up to the both of them and ask if theyre ok all dating???
you stew over this until the next morning, finding most of your friends gone and only a sticky note left on the fridge saying "(wo)man up". great.
while fixing yourself up some breakfast, josh and matt both join you after coming from upstairs. they ask where everyone is, following the direction of your pointed eyes to the note, josh laughing and matt looking bewildered.
"what does...what do you think it means?" he asks, reverting back to his shy state and looking between you and josh.
josh laughs, shaking his head. "it means they want me and yn to ask each other out already."
his words shock you, causing you to hit him with a handtowel, making him yelp. "youre telling me you already knew i liked you!? and you like me and still havent done anything!? oh youre such an asshole..."
"hey! i just didnt wanna rush it and mess anything up, besides i thought you were still getting over your oh so dramatic breakup with tyler-"
"oh dont act like you didnt know i was only dating him to make you jealous-"
"wait...you two...already like each other?"
the sound of matts quiet voice boots the two of you from your unserious argument, turning to look at the brown skinned boy who looks so dejected it makes your heart ache.
"i just thought that with all those conversations we had when staying up together that we... you know what, nevermind." he starts to turn away out of embarrassment before both you and josh grab his arms, pulling him back to you.
he looks surprised, his mouth moving to start asking what youre doing before you cut him off.
"matt, i have had feelings for josh for a long time now, yes. but i can also say this trip made me see you in a different light. youre...sweet and caring, and i know i have feelings for you as well. i know its..not the most normal situation in the world, but i know that i want to be with the both of you."
josh and matt are quiet for a few moments, which definitely doesnt help your nerves. but a smile is put on your face when josh wraps his arms around the both of you, pulling you both in for a hug.
"dont worry, i like you guys too. pretty easy since youre both so cute." he teases, making matt giggle with you.
matt relaxes, hugging the both of you tighter. "yeah. yeah, i think we can make this work."
and so there the three of you stood, in the kitchen of this giant, cold lodge all locked in embrace.
but in your head, you think youve never felt warmer.

Replaying until dawn by myself for the first time in awhile and honestly, every time I play this I notice something I haven’t noticed before
You play as Beth in the beginning, is this is her relationship with everyone
Every relationship is pretty high, all them are either around the middle or above. Obviously we know this group was close, we know they were best friends, but seeing this painful. Because this is everyone else’s stats when you play as them throughout the game (I could find all of them at their starting point, but the white line shows where their relationship starts)
Some relationships are high, but overall everything is pretty low. That prank played in the prologue ruined this friend group and it’s heartbreaking. The traumatic events they experienced a year later probably didn’t exactly help them. Maybe it pushed them closer together, now that they know what happened, maybe they are pushed together simply because no one else has been through what they have so now they need each other. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s not happened though. We deserve to know the aftermath of UD and TQ

GOD so many people hated Emily back when UD came out, but I just feel so bad for her especially in the later half of the game. Sure she's not the nicest person at times, but honestly, none of these kids are. And she probably feels a lot of guilt about Hannah and Beth's death, given how she played a big part in staging the prank.
I can only imagine how she'd feel after a Matt Doesn't Survive game.

there's just something so funny to me about sam listening to the interview with sheriff cline in the beginning of ud once you've played the game through, like............
cline very clearly states that her officers searched the grounds of the sanatorium looking for hannah and beth, not to mention jack, their oh-so-mysterious person of interest, which means
(1) she's straightup lying and she never sent anyone
(2) the officers are lying and they just told her they searched it
(3) they actually did go, walked through the literal zoo of ancient, crumbly, skin-peeling miners chilling out in there and maybe idk fed them peanuts from the safety of the aisles, reported back to her that shit was deeply weird up there, and she decided eh know what, not worth it
love the idea the blackwood police know What's In The Sanatorium and they're just praying a bunch of teenagers don't end up crashing the place one night and setting the whole damn thing on fire alksdjfklasjdf

Welp, finally got to play Until Dawn: Rush of Blood last night, and honesty guys? It was such a fun game holy shit. Only took me a little over 2 hours to beat the game, and I totally would have started over and hunted for my missing trophies (cause I have a problem lol) and ‘skittles’ if it wasn’t for the fact that I can only use the vr headset for ~3 hours before it gives me a headache 😢
As expected though, game was chock full of all sorts of ud easter eggs and every time I entered an area of a level and recognized exactly where in the game I was supposed to be or I recognized character models that were being reused I got super giggly. Like you wouldn’t believe the amount of times I blew kisses when ever the psycho entered the scene to try and scare/terrorize me...even when Psycho!Josh was being a complete dick and kept killing me like ten times with his stupid axe as all those Matt’s in clown masks kept throwing molotovs at me lol.
Speaking of Josh, you even kinda sorta play as him maybe? Cause when I looked down to see if I even had a body or if I was just a pair of floating arms with guns, I was 100% wearing Josh’s overalls. Which is interesting, cause during the moments after levels when I’m sitting in a chair in the sanitorium I don’t have a body at all so they really didn’t need to go through all that work imo.
And obviously, they reused character models as previously hinted at by clown mask wearing Matt’s throwing molotov cocktails at me. Got to see all the boys in fact! Whether they were Chris, Cabin!Mike, Sanitorium!Mike, Matt, Regular!Josh, Psycho!Josh, and even Fiddler hilariously enough, they just coming at me in all forms. From wearing clown or pig masks to just being plain ass zombies, they were intent on killing me let me tell you. Sadly, though none of the girls made an appearance 😔 (which is a shame cause I totally think would have loved multiple Ashley’s in a clown mask of her own trying to stab me with scissors, it’s what she would have deserved imo) They didn’t even make little cameo’s as body’s on hooks in the mines like the rest of the guys did for some reason. Closest I got to seeing any of the girls was in the second level, and that’s just because a portion of it has all the doll’s that Josh set up in the dollhouse so I kept seeing their respective dolls over and over again.
The only girls that made any sort of appearance were Hannah and Beth (mostly Hannah obvs lol), and that was mostly for jump scare and horror reasons due to being dead and all. Though for some reason Hannah was wearing a bow in her hair?
(Like don’t get me wrong, even being totally dead and decaying she is rocking that hair bow let’s be real. It’s just such an odd choice, and I have no idea why they felt the need to add that to the character model?)
But seriously, if any of you ever have a chance to play this, I really REALLY suggest you give it a go. It’s a super short game but was so fucking fun oh my god.
Cannot wait to give it another run through tonight!
#until dawn#rush of blood#and if for some reason any of you happen to be visiting my area of the world i WILL be forcing you to at least try a level or two lol#the demo of it i played back in august when i was staying at my sisters was just the second level by the way#which makes sense cause it was not only by far the shortest level#but the first level itself if half a shooting tutorial in a carnival before some minor parts in the lodge#whereas the second is basement saw rooms dolls everywhere and lots of pigs#so huge amounts of ud call backs and easter eggs#reason the first half of the first level takes place in a carnival though is because the guy that 'accompanies' you#is larry fessenden as a carny lol#so becomes more and more bloody and unhinged as you go on so that was fun#felt bad every time i got a new highscore though cause i kept knocking ashley off the leader board#im sorry baby please dont hate me 😭#only reason you had scores that low anyways was because you were too scared and jumpy to play properly#absolutely would have creamed everyone else otherwise lol#that being said i do not accept josh having the second highest score#boy is absolutely dogshit at video games and i can not be convinced otherwise sdjfjsdhfhsd#though i will accept the fact that emily got the fourth highest into my headcannon#girl is insane at shooters but would die before letting absolutely anyone else find that out lmao#though bob washington not only being included on that list but getting the coveted first spot#is frankly both hilarious and the weirdest inclusion they could have chosen ajkdhakjhsd
