coral was the prodigy child. even from a young age, she excelled past most of the kids her age. but her parents didn’t cater to this — her mother, in fact, frequently argued with the girl. she was supposed to be a traditional wife, not some smart assed brat.

and eddie wasn’t worth a damn either, for the exact opposite reason. when their father would push, eddie would push back. he would yell at eddie and the boy would take it and amplify it. he’d yell back.

the twins stayed close because of their parental neglect. they didn’t let it ruin their bond. they snuck out a lot together. two six year olds running rampant in town, but they were together. a lot of others recognized them. “there goes munson’s kids. that boy’s gonna be an addict, just like his daddy.”

one night, their father was arrested. only a week later did their mother run off, leaving the two to fend for themselves. and they did okay! their life wasn’t exactly luxurious, but their house had power and they did chores for their neighbors to get food and money.

but when the power went out and the bills stopped getting paid, the police came to see what was going on. two kids living on their own. surviving.

they were placed into wayne munson’s home. their uncle, whom they had only met once. the man was everything their parents were supposed to have been. he protected them. fueled their knowledge.

wayne taught eddie how to fix cars up, how to play guitar.

as for coral, he didn’t have much to teach her, but he helped her get the best books they could afford to further her knowledge.

as they grew older, they were expected to visit their father in prison. their father made them feel guilty for not wanting to, so they went. it wasn’t often, just a few times a year. on father’s day, on his birthday, and on christmas. eventually, they did stop going.

Ig I just wanted to throw this out there since you're a fellow oc supporter. So OC creations might be like one of my favorite things. I asked for some for my twdg continuation and people genuinely do really well with them! I cba to list them or anything cause you'd probably die reading them, but like the detail put into it is so nice and it just puts a smile on my face when I can implement someone elses piece of words into a genuine character and develop them from there. everything from like names and backstories, its so sick to see and I appreciate it so much. Few month back I wouldnt have pictured myself writing an OC who knows sign langauge or an OC whos total douchebag, but now its just so inviting and amazing to have. The whole concept of it is amazing and im glad people like indulging in oc art, whether if its art or writing. I can only hope Im doing justice to the prompts but the fact that people are even willing to contribute to it fills me with a good vibe, and gets me going to create more of my own.

If I am to be honest, I think I am going to make the ultimate decision to finally break away from Ethan just being a "twdg oc" to more of a "multi-verse/post apocalyptic oc"

Which means I will have to do lots of changes to his backstory lore, etc. I am sorry to anyone who won't like this change but I personally feel like it's the best way to go; in addition I feel like it'll give me more freedom with this character.

The young girl no longer smiled. Her whole life had been thrown upside down. One minute it was like any other day. It was a weekend and of course the young girl wanted to sleep in. She awoke to the sound of screaming and an emergency alarm sound from the living room tv. She got out of bed and tiptoed to her bedroom door. She put her ear to the door to maybe hear her mom or anything at all. It sounded like someone was shuffling around. She had a bad feeling and locked her bedroom door. She hoped whoever or whatever was out there wouldn't find her or come to her room. She hid under the bed and stayed there for what was probably hours. She must of fell asleep cause she awoke to her father's voice desperately yelling her name. She ran to her bedroom door to see her father. He was covered in blood, at this point she didn't know her mother was dead. She didn't know what was going on.

Well that was a year ago. Tomorrow was her 7th birthday....her and her father had been constantly on the move. They heard about a sanctuary, a haven away from the dead. They were on there way there when tragedy struck....

Hello I am introducing my oc to you all by giving you angst out of context

Hi CJ!! I have question for you (sorry if you already talked about this). So I want to make my own characters and I know you did fantastic job with Justin and Louis' parents. So my question is do you have any advice you would like to share when it comes to making your ocs? :)

Hello! Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed Justin, Hugo, and Isabel! I know you sent this a long time ago since it’s at the bottom of my inbox. Sorry about that! Hopefully you find this helpful!

To be honest, creating my own characters is one of my favorite things to do. I mean, I write a lot of original works so obviously I have to place my own characters within those... however, I’ve always struggled with creating characters to place within fanfiction. 

Justin was “easier” than Hugo and Isabel, mostly because he was created with the intention of adding more to Mitch’s backstory. I knew I wanted Mitch to have a friend he developed feelings for and kickstart an internal struggle about his sexuality. Then, have said friend die and explore the effect that’d have on Mitch. 

As for Justin himself, he’s only mentioned in passing by Willy in ep3, but we do see that wonderful graffiti “Justin Fucked A Walker!” all over the school. It only made sense that Mitch would be the one to write it, but why? So I went from there. 

I based Justin’s personality on what I think would complement and clash with Mitch’s. They’re roommates, both troublemakers that got sent to Ericson based on shit they’ve done [Mitch blew up the garage and fought the neighbors, Justin’s a kleptomaniac], both are jerks with strong personalities who happen to share a lot of the same interests. 

Then Justin developed a crush on Minerva and Mitch didn’t like that, which started a string of conflicts within their friendship. 

Going off of that, some advice I could give you is to look at the characters you want your oc to interact with and decide their different relationships, see who they clash with or who they get along with.

Like, say you want to write an oc who ends up in a relationship with Mitch. What sort of personality would work well with Mitch? What about your oc does he find attractive, and what bothers him? Every couple has their flaws and their disagreements. 

But also think about your character by themself. Who are they outside of twdg or any other fandom characters? For me, it’s easier to develop a basic character by themself before putting them in to play with the others.

That’s kind of what I did with Hugo and Isabel. Though that case is a bit different because I had another person’s input when it came to developing certain aspects, given [checkmate]’s a contest story. 

But I jotted down several things about Hugo and Isabel individually, then about them as a couple, then as them as a family with Louis. That helped figure out how they survived within the apocalypse with Louis is still out there, and it’s helped with their reactions to what happened to Louis... which hasn’t been revealed yet because [checkmate] is a work in progress, but ya get me. 

To put it as simple as I can, when I develop a new character, both in original works and in fanfiction, I answer the following: Name, basic appearance, strengths, flaws, close relationships, what do they want, how do they plan to get it, and do they succeed? 

Example: 

Justin Small, dark curly hair, dark eyes  Dedicated, motivated, intelligent Kleptomaniac, cocky, selfish, sensitive Mitch - roommate and best friend; Minerva - crush; Willy - the kid Justin tolerates because of Mitch.  Wants Minerva to be his girlfriend Clean the dorm, kick Mitch out, and invite Minerva over. Nope, and now his relationship with Mitch is tense and Minerva’s made him the laughing stock of Ericson. 

You can always get more detailed with it by finding one of those long ass character questionnaires if you’d like, but I find that answering those questions alone is enough to get a couple pages out of me. I could take all that info about Justin and create a character analysis doing into depth about everything and then some. 

But again, do what works for you. That’s just what I do. 

Finally, just write. 

I know, dumb thing to tell you because that’s obviously what you’re trying to do, but seriously, get the basics down and toss the character into the world. Start writing and you’ll find the character starts to develop. Hell, sometimes they take a different direction than you anticipated. 

Practice, practice, practice- that’s how you get better at character creation and writing in general. 

So yeah, I hope this helps. I’m not a professional by any means, I just do what works and what can help improve myself as a writer, and I’m willing to share that with you. If you have any other questions, I’ll do my best to answer them!

Backstory: People call him the Scavenger for a reason. He’s known all throughout communities and camps across the state of Virginia. He sneaks into camps and communities when no one is looking and steals what he can. He only steals at night when no one is looking. By the morning, groups can find that some of their food or medicine has suddenly gone missing. He moves by night and hides and rests during the day.

At the beginning of the apocalypse, Maxi lived with his older brothers. When they caught wind of the situation, they immediately got into his oldest brother’s truck and drove out of the city to the countryside.

The four of them survived for a long while, making it a year into the apocalypse before shit hit the fan. In the middle of the night, their camp was raided, everything they needed to survive was stolen from them. And when Maxi’s older brothers tried to fight back, the raiders shot and killed all three of them, leaving Maxi all by himself.

After that night, Maxi went off on his own. He started his life of stealing after he snuck into the raider’s camp. Avenging his lost brothers, Maxi slit each of the raiders’ throats in their sleep before taking whatever he could carry. After that, he kept up his act of stealing by night.

Meet Annie!! This is my TWDG OC! This is my first time actually drawing her, so this is probably just a concept of what she looks like. So far, I’m really proud of myself! This is for an upcoming story, Hope’s Rebirth, which takes place two years before Clementine and AJ are taken into Ericsons!

Backstory:

Annie was the youngest out of herself and her older triplet brothers. She grew up under a traditionalist father and a protective mother who often was beaten into submission. Her brothers, Randy, Quinn, and Terrance, all used sports as an outlet to escape their abusive household. Quinn was sent to Ericsons for a time for hitting their father in the face with his baseball bat, resulting in a broken molar. Annie used books, using her active imagination to distract herself from her home life.

When the apocalypse hit, her father abandoned his family within just a few days, taking half of everything. Her mother committed suicide within the next week, leaving the four siblings to fend for themselves. Without the common knowledge of destroying the brain, the siblings didn’t stop her from reanimating as they intended to bury her the next day, but Annie’s mother quickly turned and attacked Terrance. He was the next to pass. Randy, the oldest, was the one to deliver the final blow.

Within the next six months, ten-year-old Annie survived in her family’s house with her two remaining brothers. Tension rose; the brothers began to argue about leaving because of the danger that surrounded the neighborhood at the time. With a plan to reach their grandparents’ house, the siblings began to travel.

They never made it there. Walkers and obstacles prevented them from reaching their destination, so Randy, taking charge, began to lead them toward what was believed to be a safe zone. Weeks passed and it turned out to be overrun. Without a direct plan in mind, other than just survival, the siblings made their journey elsewhere. While they were included in a few groups of people, they always ended up alone over time, choosing that they were better as a lone team.

Over the next four years, Randy developed some sort of psychosis. Annie personally believed it started after Terrance, the youngest triplet, died. He often clashed with the level-headed Quinn whenever his decisions were questioned. There was a questionable immorality that would strike fear into Annie whenever he made a rash decision; Randy showed no remorse when confronting strangers, even going as far as amputating someone’s hand when they refused to give him what he needed. He even cannibalized it at some point as the food supply was low, much to his siblings’ horror. They, of course, refused to partake in it when it was offered. There were times that Annie was physically abused by Randy when she wouldn’t submit to performing the same immoral actions as him.

Quinn, aware of what kind of danger Randy posed to their little sister, planned to abandon their brother as soon as possible. It was soon sabotaged when Randy confronted them the night they were going to leave, breaking down into a psychotic episode when he realized they were trying to do what their father did in the beginning. He believed that they were leaving when he needed them most, which reflected their father’s actions.

Quinn and Randy got involved in an altercation, which wasn’t new to Annie’s eyes, but she felt that Randy wouldn’t stop until Quinn was dead. She shot Randy with a pistol, both injuring him and attracting a small herd of walkers. Quinn ended up with a stab wound, which was Randy’s final attempt to kill him before his own death, and escaped with Annie as their brother was brutally killed by walkers.

Annie aided her only brother for as long as she could when he developed Sepsis. According to him, it was practically a death sentence without the proper medicine and where to find it. The pair travelled for as long as they could under his conditions until his body gave up on him. Quinn’s final wish was for her to reach Ericsons, his old boarding school, just to try and find a place that had some kind of connections tied to it even if it was a risk. He also requested that she read as many books as she can to keep her imagination, her humanity, alive.

Annie remained with him until his final breath. To keep him from reanimating, she euthanized him quietly.

She reached the school within weeks, traveling all by herself to West Virginia. The kids there took her in. Still grieving, Annie’s losses caught up to her and she attempted suicide, having lost all hope for herself.

Hope’s Rebirth is going to be a story about how Annie forms new friendships with the Ericson kids and forms a new kind of family after having lost all of her own. She lets herself give in to the vulnerability it takes to let people in again and takes it upon herself to do better. The point of the story is kind of literally in the title: her hope is gone in the beginning. She’s weak. She doesn’t see a way out, no happy endings. Then she’s brought back by the strangers who took her in. She almost despises them for it but slowly forms bonds with every one of them. She literally regains her hope as the story progresses.

A new TWDG OC!

Personality: Yepa is a old, tattered soul. She is very reserved to most of the world, and would rather not discuss herself or anything about her life. Fairly introverted, but Yepa will often strike a conversation if things are too quiet (she knows when it’s awkward lol). She definitely works better alone, but prefers the presence of a group because groups = safety/sanity. She has a soft spot for children, having been a mother to five, and she works well with them despite being a bit strict at times.

Backstory: Yepa grew up in Oklahoma, moving off her Reservation and into the capital once she married at 18. She didn’t have the best relationship with her parents, mainly because she was a rebel child who had countless run ins with the law. But moving away straightened her up, and she made a life for herself with her husband. She took a job in a warehouse, mainly operating heavy machines and lifting big boxes. During her marriage, she had five children: three girls and two boys, now all grown up (their status in the apocalypse is unknown to her). After twenty years of marriage, Yepa and her husband separated but remained good friends. Yepa never remarried, but always kept in touch with her ex as well as had a steady girlfriend for ten years. During those ten years was when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was pretty far along, so the only way to rid herself of it was full double mastectomy. It was a hard recovery, but she had the support of her family to get through.

When the apocalypse happened, she and her girlfriend were on vacation far from home. They were our sightseeing when a man attacked them, and took a bit at her girlfriend. It wasn’t long after that she realized what was happening, and Yepa had to kill her partner. Afterwards, she traveled with a group of tourists to try and navigate through this new world. Eventually it didn’t work out, but Yepa never gave up, she’s a survivor at heart.

pre apocalypse

met ben by tutoring him! the two started to get along and became quick friends. once coral realized she was starting to catch feelings for be, she began to pull away from him, having had bad experiences with relationships in the past and not wanting to lose ben's friendship.

in response to this, ben ended up confessing his feelings to her after an argument between them, and the two began dating. they were already together for just over a year when the outbreak started.

ben has always been the majorly touchy and affectionate partner, where coral has been more closed off and reserved, but she still enjoys being affectionate with him in private. occasionally, she would hold his hand at school or kiss his cheek in the hallway, and it always flustered ben.

he's very much a big gesture kind of person, and he loves to spoil her in any way that he can

season one

coral & eddie journey from stone mountain with their uncle wayne to find ben, as coral was terrified that she wasn't going to be able to find ben in time. as a result of this, they wound up in an accident, where eddie had to unfortunately kill their uncle.

they find ben, as well as mr. parker, travis, and a couple other kids. they manage to stick together for a while, but coral is taken by raiders and is presumed to have been murdered.

when the raid on the motel occurs, coral manages to get free from the binds they've got her in, and she's able to get to the motel as walkers are starting to take over.

lilly is angry with her, so is kenny, as ben and eddie hadn't told them anything about her. ben is, of course, relieved to see her. he convinces the others to help her injured shoulder (which had reopened when she was shooting at walkers). katjaa helps, although she is somewhat shaky from being bit.

in the RV scene, coral barely is able to stop lilly from shooting carley. they still abandon the woman on the ide of the road and leave her to die.

on the train, kenny blames ben for bringing the raiders to them. coral lies, making up a story about how she had seen the motel and though she had not known who was there, she tried to get the raiders to go there. she claims she thought that there were only a few raiders, and so, the big group would scare them off. she was wrong. kenny grows angry with coral, leaving lee to break up the fight.

ben is shocked most of all by this story, but he goes along with it, because coral always has a plan. she wouldn't let some senseless idea get them all killed. she also plants the idea that lilly was the one who traded out the supplies. there's no proof of lilly actually doing it, but that is the story that gets passed around.

carley knows the truth. she knows it was ben trading out supplies, but she isn't a snitch. she's okay leaving the blame on lilly, as it provides closure to the rest of the group.

most of season one follows similarly to canon, though lee doesn't get bitten when they go to search for clementine. additionally, ben lives from his horrendous fall, though he suffers a scar through his chest.

they find eddie's girlfriend, nova! they also find be's sister, rachel, and matt, nova's little brother.

kenny still disappears after trying to save ben, and duck goes missing from the mansion trying to find his father.

between season one and two

carley, lee, christa, omid, ben, coral, eddie, nova, matt, rachel, and clementine find a farm to take over. between the 8 adults, they manage to raise some crops and hunt for food. the farm is pretty safe for the family. they survive their first winter together there.

ben and coral have a cute ass spring wedding btw. lee officiates and walks coral down the aisle and clementine is a flower girl. not long after, they decide that they're going to start a family. (it's the apocalypse, it's not like they have stages of marriage to go through first.)

coral ends up pregnant with child and having him in the fall. his name is wolfgang wayne paul-munson. (everyone calls him wolf or pup as a nickname)

the winter is rough, but they barely survive. there is a hoard that pushes them out of their home, however, and they are forced to move on.

season two

after being forced to move on, coral and the others wind up separated from clementine. they are frantic to find the girl and stumble upon the house in the woods. with promises that they can help the already large group survive, it's with reluctance that they are allowed to stay. primarily, it's pete that fights for them. (they have Children, how could they not let them stay, after all?)

season two ends up pretty close to canon, alvin does still die.

i do also think coral or lee needs to take a good swing at carver bcuz he's a douchebag. i wouldn't be surprised if one of them ended up killing him to be quite honest with you.

2. I LOVE LOVE Clementine from The Walking Dead Game at the moment, she is my badass zombie apocalypse daughter and I want her to be happy god~ 
3. I have my own story created from a dream I had way back in middle school. 
4. Since it’s creation I have developed seven main characters, dozens and I mean DOZENS of side characters with their own backstory and some form of plot and yeah all that good stuff~

But I’ll choose one of my oc ships which is Takaru and Sam, because every time I think of them I'm smiling cause of their friendship and they have this pure innocence to them and dynamic in my story that always makes me fricken smile and so happy that I’ve these two sweetheart angels~ (that I can turn into fricken anguish when I want to! 9. Any fears you have? Oh several~ more of my traumatic fears are: Darkness, like complete darkness I just can’t deal with it I’ll start hyperventilating. Heights, man I can’t even walk down stairs without holding onto the rail cause I’m afraid of falling, I have anxiety of failing and disappointment it’s just…ugh complicated and I hate it ;-; but these are the most noticeable one at least. 
10. Favorite creature from any game/show? Uhhhhh I suppose Walkers or Zombies from The Walking Dead Game and show.

Do your have a favorite ship that is above all the rest of your ships? 5. What are your fears? 6. Got any pets or want a specific pet that you always wanted as a pet? (Like exotic or non exotic animals? Lol) 7. What’s your all time favorite movie? 8. What’s your favorite season? Why? 9. If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go? 10. If you were suddenly thrown into any favorite universe from a book, movie, show, manga, so on and so forth which would it be? How would you react? :) 11. If you could have any ability or superpower what would it be and why? :3
