when he sees that you can handle a bow really well he thinks you’re even cooler
he probably starts sending you out of the motel more since he knows you can handle yourself outside
clem probably begs him to let you teach her how to use a bow
and he gets so annoyed at her for it😭

poor kid gets borderline bullied by everyone else in the group😭

and when you show him he probably finds a way to mess up (sorry ben)
but eventually he might be decent at it
probably steers clear of you as much as he possibly can because he’s so jealous of you
but secretly, he does admire your skills and attitude

HIIIIIIIIII I AM TERRIBLY SORRY IF THIS TOOK SO LONGGGG I'VE BEEN BUSY FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS AND I WAS SICK FOR SO LONGGGGG. But anyways, Of course! Also i am very sorry if this is not what ur looking forr [sobs]
It’s been months since the world fell apart. The dead walking around and gobbling up those lucky or unlucky enough to be alive. Things had been tough for you, trying to survive with your family and your group. Things had changed dramatically when your group met Ben Paul, a young teenager who was the same age as yours. He was a nervous guy but always willing to help. But to Kenny, Ben was the reason why your family was gone.
Whenever Ben came around, the atmosphere changed. Kenny would turn into an angry person and you could feel the tension in the air. You knew that Kenny was grieving and he was lashing out, but it wasn’t fair to Ben. Clementine tried to talk to Kenny, try to get him to see that Ben wasn’t to blame.
It was on one of these days that you found yourself alone with Ben, trying to steal some supplies from a grocery store. You two had formed a great bond over the weeks and you were finally starting to feel something towards Ben. You and Clementine were the only one who understood Ben. And he understands you. It was the time you kissed Ben. It wasn’t anything special, but it was the start of something new, something hopeful. Ben was shocked but smiled, "I-i've been... Hoping you'd do that... For a long time."
You couldn’t help chuckle but smile back. “You have no idea how much I wanted that too.”
From then on, you and Ben were dating. It was a slow start, but having someone to care about, someone to love made all the difference in the world. However, it wasn’t all roses and unicorns. Kenny would still become angry whenever he saw the two of you together. It wasn’t until one night when Kenny was drunk that they realized how much he was hurting.
“We lost our damn family because of him,” Kenny slurred, pointing at Ben. You could see the pain in his eyes, the agony he was going through.
"Dad, please!"
"Please what? Huh?!" He yelled.
"It's not Ben's fault!"
"It damn well it is! He was the reason our family died!" Clementine flinched at his yelling. Lee had to interrupt.
"Woah, Kenny-" Lee was interrupted by Christa's hand, but he shoved it away gently. "No need to yell."
"I can yell whenever i want to!"
"DAD SHUT UP!" Your yelling made everyone in the room in complete silence. "We're lucky, y'know? We get to see our family in their last moments. And Ben? Ben doesn't even fucking know where his family is! So stop blaming him for everything! What he did, did not kill mom and Duck! He's staying, where you like it or not." You pulled Ben out of the room.
"You okay?"
He nodded. "Thank you..."
"You're welcome as always." A smile on your lips.
Sleepiness overcame you. You woke up in the lounge room. The first thing you saw was Kenny hugging Ben, you smiled at them before sleepiness took over your body once again.

I think ben’s biggest role in the series, had he survived s1, would’ve been a protector role for clementine. and I don’t mean that physically, because I think clementine would be much more capable than him (sorry he’s the loml but he scrawny). but I mean it socially. I think ben becomes slowly more socially aware and becomes the one clementine goes to so she has someone to vent to.
he wouldve done everything to take care of her :(
and if he needed to, he would always be protective of AJ, too.

hi! Do you have any underrated/unpopular favs in TWDG?
Ben and Marlon!
There something about Ben being one of the most realistic depictions of a teenager (Besides Sarah and her anxiety disorder) being thrown into the end of the world that drew me in years ago! Not being perfect, but trying his hardest to earn his place and keep people safe. Never having bad intentions but never having your efforts go completely in the direction you hoped for was just really... relatable?
Marlon was just a cool ass character from the start. He never had bad intentions, like Ben but got roped into a bandit/raider conspiracy all the same. He never wanted anything that happened to happen, just like Ben he was a scared kid forced into a really f*cked up spot suddenly (worse that the spot they were already in) and I love how they both had their own breaking points, too.

Of every pre-Final Season child/teen character in the games, who do you think would make the best friend/companion for Clementine?
Man, I think all of them would be good companions for Clem in different ways. They all should’ve livedddd. I might be a little biased here, but my vote is on Ben.
Pros: Is another connection to Lee and knew him almost as well as Clem did, a little older than her so she’s got a teen/young adult to rely on if they’re out on their own without any group, already had a offscreen friendship in s1 and get along very well
Cons: he is very prone to mistakes (see season 1, episodes 3, 4 😭)
I think he had a lot of potential for development, and in a situation where it was only him and Clementine left (something Lee brings up in No Time Left), I think he could step up. It would’ve been nice to see him grow from the kid who was always screwing up and making mistakes to a reliable survivor.
I think he’d still goof up from time to time though, cause he just wouldn’t be Ben if he didn’t. Ben would get them into trouble, Clem gets them out of it, it’s a dynamic where they’d watch each other’s backs. I think they’d be a nice little duo.
There’s actually a good amount of “Ben lives” aus out there where he’s Clementine’s companion I’m a little guilty of writing one myself haha.. Apparently he’s a pretty popular choice that people have when they want a kid to survive with Clem.
At the same time though it’s kinda sad lol, I have seen ZERO fics for Duck surviving with Clem, and Sarah lives fics are few and far between. We gotta fix that immediately.
