Trying to remember that it's not shameful to feel wounded when someone you cared for very much rejects you completely.
I made a real friend on tumblr - or at least, I thought so - and I was so careful to not overstep or be weird & parasocial - again, I thought so - but after two years of daily in-depth conversations, co-writing and writing fics for each other, being first reader for each other's other writings, sharing intimate stories we said we hadn't told anyone else, I was summarily blocked.
I'm crying at work. Couldn't sleep last night. Can't eat today. I suppose that was the point - the dismissal was supposed to hurt, so it does.
The real kicker is that all this was in favor of a pirate character on a pirate show! That part really is so humiliating it's kind of funny. Real human me was less valuable to someone I liked a whole lot than Long John Silver, played by the curly haired Aussie. That really puts me in my place, doesn't it?
I did not ever think joining this, the lesser social media site, would end up breaking my real heart in the real world. Tumblr is full of surprises. And the worst part is, the show Black Sails is so good and I'm so taken by Flint that I have to keep watching the accursed thing, and Silver, who I already dislike, is now someone my former friend chose over being connected to me, so this is gonna be one intense experience.
Well. Fuck it. Here goes nothing. I'm already Flint coded. I'll just have an extended freak out if Silver ends up doing what I think he's gonna do to Flint.

Multi-part question. Fo you ever see a trope (on tumblr, in media, etc) and think "oh I wanna include that in a story" or "I wanna do a twist on this" and then do you, most of the time, actually include it or just hoard it in your stash for an ambiguous later?

All the time! Every trope used in my novel has a personal twist. Following are some short examples with links to the character profiles. Feel free to read more about my treasured characters!
enemies to lovers: Meara Kailani falls in love with Enya Arati at first sight, but Enya thinks she isn’t capable of love and keeps abandoning Meara.
altruistic healing mage: Saoirse Dearbháil only heals someone when the price is right.
hostile dwarf with bad manners: Dietbert Siegfrieden is a dwarf with exceptional manners, not at all grumpy and very chatty.
enemies to friends: Talib and Enya Arati become friends for a while despite the circumstances they met, and later end up as enemies.
war between fantasy races: There is one ongoing war between faeries and elves. They are both smaller than a coin, so nobody notices this war.
toxic sibling dynamics: From the Kailani sisters to Dietbert's children and Enya and Lissi; all siblings stick together and appreciate each other.
power-hungry old man: The Mayor of Trevena is the nicest villager and leaves all important decisions to his secretary.
evil witch: Esmeralda has a helping hand for every villager.
religious trauma: Despite all my characters being traumatized in one way or the other, they find comfort in their beliefs.

They're a shadow entity I sometimes see whenever I dream that I'm in a sea of light gray void. I thought they were an enderman when I first saw them, but then I noticed their eyes were whitish-green-gray, unlike the vivid purple found in the endermen eyes. They have clawlike "hands" and spindly legs.

okay tumblr’s exclusion from the twitter social media ban list is hilarious but genuinely we do not belong on there. if a real human person asks “where can i find you on social media” and your choice is a swift death or revealing your tumblr, most of us would simply expire. half of y’all change urls every week like you’re in witness protection. just imagine for one second attaching your wholeass government name to your latest two am clownposting and tell me that didn’t send a cold chill down your spine. the only place i ever want to see the words “connect with me on tumblr!” is on the ao3 profile of an author i’m actively stalking. anyone in the world can follow me except anyone i personally know. antisocial media.

I still wanted to understand my ex friend, and I didn't, not really, so I went to see a shrink. The shrink explained what someone with better social or emotional awareness or delicacy or maybe less autism (undiagnosed), that is, in any case, not me, would have known to do or more importantly, not say.
It took ninety minutes.
So. I know now exactly what the expectation was that I failed so catastrophically. Knowing the expectation is always my difficulty. I feel better. But then it's still over, the friendship, and in my life so far it's never the exact same situation twice, so what's the point? Nothing, if I was nihilistic, I suppose, but I'm not. I really did want to know, and now I know one more way to avoid being brutal unintentionally.
The shrink was funny. She says I should watch Young Sheldon and also the Big Bang Theory to get the experience of seeing what growing up and living with autism but within a supportive community looks like. I asked her, What's the point of that? I'm grown up now - what's the point of watching a kid suffering through being sent to a class with way older kids? (My dear clueless mom watched the Young Sheldon show & told me about it, and I got upset at the set-up because that happened to me, being shoved as a little kid into big kid classes and it SUUUUCKED). But the shrink says even just watching a kid that's gonna have a lot of my traits get treated with due care and sensitivity would actually be good for me. Apparently Sheldon learns how to function in the world better.
Well, OK. I'll give it a go then.

Happy WBW! What are some significant events in your world’s history? Did they have lasting consequences?
Sorry for the late response, but your question just made me realize that I haven't included significant events in my world's history in my first draft. Most of them happened in the past and are not that relevant to the plot and my story is purely character driven. But I should definitely include some background lore, so that will be a second draft problem I'm afraid. I will work so much more on my worldbuilding in the second draft, but first I need to do right by my characters and get the story out and then later insert some history facts. Am I doing this wrong? Ah I hope not.

Ahmed Saad or @/90-ghost's brother in law is currently doing his best to organise the evacuation of his family from Gaza. This family suffers from a combination of ailments that all require medical attention. This is the description on their GFM page:
Hello, I hope you all are doing well!
My name is Mohamed Monir Ahmad Mahmoud, I’m a hemophilia patient from Gaza. I decided to start this campaign with all the hope that you could support me in evacuating Gaza to do surgery for me and my daughter and start a fresh life with my 5 kids out of the ongoing genocide in Gaza [...] I was supposed to go out at the end of 2023 to have surgery on my knees but since 7 October, I had no chance due to the procedures on Rafah crossing, the gate of Gazans to the world. Now, my knees and elbows are bleeding with no access to any type of care and if things stand as they are in Gaza, I won’t be able to walk or make any effort because of the bleeding (currently I am barely able to set up a small fire in front of the tent to prepare food for my kids).
What I ask is 60,000, for travel costs because each one would need to pay 5,000-8,000$ to be allowed to leave Gaza through Rafah crossing and we need around 3000$ more in Egypt for our stay and to obtain visas. We will be heading to Brazil where my brother Diaa lives and there is a huge chance to do the surgeries and access health care as the health care for Hemophilia patients in Brazil is one of the most advanced in the world.
