do you like becoming tumblr famous or is it scary

So far, it's pretty good. I get an astonishing number of asks, and I feel bad that I cannot answer or address them all, but other than that, practically everyone has been lovely so far.

I have a bit of an odd relationship with fame. For much of my childhood, I idolised people who were famous, and dreamt of one day being famous, too. As I grew up, I met or interacted with more and more famous people, and later even got to know some very well. When you see it up close, it is often not desirable at all. It is in fact a huge strain on these people. And that's something I think we often forget; these are just people. Just apes wearing silly scraps of fabric and worrying about their families and their health, just like everyone else.

And so, I have no real interest in being famous, tumblr or otherwise. But I do enjoy having a wonderful, large, and continuously growing audience who revel in and enjoy the weird and wonderful creatures that I spend so much of my time thinking about, working on, and pursuing. I hope that it continues to grow! As I say, you have all been really lovely so far, and I could not find a better community on any other platform—of that I am sure! 🐸

The only reason I would ever want fame on tumblr is so people can tell me what they think of me, I need imminent feed back from everything I post pls I’m a very insecure person

I make up so many funny textposts in my brain to pass the time, while I cook or clean or teraform in my silly little video games, but it makes me think--like, none of these could ever be real. Ever. Even if I typed them up word for word.

Tumblr functions entirely on improv, you CAN'T get Tumblr famous by your own design. You just can't. You can talk about how people shouldn't want to be Tumblr famous or whatever all you want but another big factor here is that you can't do it by yourself.

You can't just make up a funny post and get famous because you need people's reblogs and comments to get going- it happens by ACCIDENT. It happens because "yourfave69swizards" reblogs your blorbos post with a 69swizards pride flag. It happens because your post about sunglasses suddenly turns into a screaming match about the Pope and wether or not he also 69s wizards, and then that same guy comes back and Photoshops him onto the flag to settle the argument.

You can't engineer Tumblr fame, it has to be organic, at least past the itnitial post. Your precious baby post only becomes an icon if the village raises it to be.

y’know when I was first exposed to the tumblr world, mostly through memes and compilation videos (basically poking a dead body with a stick from a distance) I didn’t understand the disgust towards tumblr fame.

“It can’t be that bad” I said, my purity untouched, “more people can see your stuff!” My excitement unknowing.

Now, I know the horrible fear of someone other than my small group of followers finding what I do on here. This is a word vomit meant only for ME and the other people in my head (mutuals).

It’s my dream to be as well known in the tumblr sphere as pmseymour and pukicho
