My Hero Academia AU: I Know How It Works

An Ambush Simulation Sequel. Minor trigger warning for self-deprecating PTSD references.

Legend has it Mr. Compress still can't find his way out of the woods. But give him credit for calling for help even though he knew Dabi was probably gonna be an ass about it.

Aizawa was my favorite part of drawing this one.  Dabi may not be a villain in this AU, but he’s still an exhausting person to deal with, and the job seems to have been once again delegated to the usual crazy person wrangler.

If you missed Part 1 of Ambush Simulation and are confused about the orange fire instead of the blue, Dabi has gone and turned the temp down for the purposes of not being identified.

The relative humidity and the soil moisture are both factors that affect forest fires. Happy, hydrated plants don't burn easily.

There is also a method to the madness behind the forest fire aside from scare tactic.  After UA’s summer camp, the Wild, Wild Pussycats are planning on hosting a class on forest restoration after wildfires for people with plant-based Quirks.  So they were planning on burning part of the forest down anyway.

There's an interesting tidbit of worldbuilding in Pixie Bob's character page: hero teams are a rarity. So the hero industry has become a series of one man shows and their employees rather than heroes working together to resolve problems.

Just differences in strategy and income doesn't explain this trend though. A hero, sidekicks, and other employees at the same agency could have the same problem.

This trend is also likely due to All Might as well as the Hero Commission. All Might set the standard for the one man show hero agency. On top of that, he takes the urgency out of much of the hero industry because he was always there to be the fallback guy if things went wrong. And if there isn't much urgency, then much of the income from heroics is going to rely on establishing a brand. And having a brand that stands out would be more difficult in a team of hero equals.

And the Hero Commission likely exacerbated this trend because they would probably do anything to prevent heroes from doing the in universe version of collective bargaining.

Quirk Marriage for Earth Flow and Vitality Stealing?

New Quirk Name: Vital Land

This Transformation type Quirk activates whenever is in contact with the earth, shown by a green energy surrounding themselves and their surroundings. The user having contact with the earth enhances their body, shown by their body growing and becoming covered in rocky protrusions. The longer the user stays in contact with the earth, the stronger they become. At their strongest, the user grows over three times their size, becoming capable of smashing through concrete, and tanking heavy attacks. This can even let the user move the earth as an extension of themselves up to a few meters around them, like smashing the ground with their feet to cause a fissure or moving the rocks on their body to increase their power behind an attack. This turns the user into a monster on the battlefield, able to turn the power of the earth towards themselves and against their foes. They can alter the area with their attacks, smash into their enemies, tank attacks for their allies, morph the earth around them to trap people, or just help keep up their stamina. Though the user needs a direct connection with the earth and to stay with it to build up their power. If the user is ever removed from the earth, they will start to lose their power. This can have a negative affect on the landscape around the user as well and draining too much can lose their power as well.
