Jimtober 7: Scene from a favorite fic
This Jimtober is a very special one that is close to my heart, and brings me a bit full circle. My very first Jim art was a rather shaky lineart of Jim kneeling to a unicorn. I was a bit rusty, and had never used procreate before, so it didn't look like much... but I remember, vividly, the ever wonderful Sakon76 telling me that if a unicorn showed up in Your Future, it would be my fault. I was completely beside myself... my crappy art inspire a great such as Sakon?
And wouldn't you know, chapter 136... and there it was. I won't lie and say I totally didn't make this prompt specifically so I could make art of this scene, because I totally did. What I didn't expect though, was that art to morph and grow into something I think is truly special. So volume up, my friends, watch it in 4k on a bigger screen if you can, and please excuse the bit of shakiness in my voice.
Reason 3678378437824567512 to hate Rise of the Titans: We never got to see a fully trained Steve and Eli fight side by side.
The movie was overall lacking in Creepslayez content. But, I don't think we fully grasp what we were robbed of.
In Wizards, Steve Palchuk was trained in the ways of knighthood by Sir Lancelot. Steve learned to fight well enough that he could take on Gumm-Gumms. He even gained a mystical weapon, for I highly doubt that the Lady of the Lake's tooth does not have magical properties. Steve is the encapsulation of the series' fantasy elements.
For about a year, Eli Pepperjack was on Akiridion-5. Given that he shared a planet with and was close to Aja Tarron and Varvatos Vex, it is safe to assume he would have received some Akiridion soldier training from the best of the best, willingly or not. He would also definitely ask for his own serrator. He was well respected on the planet. His designs for a gigantic robot were used. When he came back to earth he was even wearing Akiridion clothes. Eli is the encapsulation of the series' sci-fi elements.
If they, as the Creepslayerz, fought side by side during the events of the movie, it would have been a beautiful representation depicting the meshing of the series' rather juxtaposed sci-fi and fantasy elements.
Ok I haven't talked about toa in a while but rott idea
What if the new timeline ends in the same way but reversed (with Jim's death this time) so Toby also uses the chronosphere to reset the timeline and make Jim the trollhunter again, just like in the original timeline, but it still fails (cause it'll be the exact same as the first one) and so its an endless circle of failures because neither of them know they were doomed from the beginning. One must always die, and neither can accept it has to be the other.
okay actually the mischaracterization and comical-ization of Toby started with the 3below series, where he literally figured out that magma bounty hunter's weakness by himself and helped Aja and Krel out A LOT and yet they always reacted like "his babbling actually worked this time" as if he hasnt been helping them save their asses the whole time. After that he was only presented as a comic relief and i think that's because it helped with the rott's(ew) ending; the 'sidekick finally having the spotlight.' But he was not just a sidekick he was not just a moral support he was so much more; he was a trollhunter and he did not need the amulet for that to be proven; that was just bad writing.
I need ToA fans, especially white ones, to remember that the Arcane Order are walking slurs. Not just transphobic-wise but also xenophobia & racism wise.
No, I'm not being too sensitive or whatever, this is a recurring problem in ToA. (Just round up the villains and their names, what imagery they borrow from, what magic they perform, what they look like).
Basically, tread carefully around these characters- how you interpret them, how you talk about them, or you might be just repeating the cycle. There is so much room for interpretation because they were developed / onscreen for so little. So hm, do consider what it says about you....
