One of the best analyses of this movie, and specially Ariel as a character and what she represents, I've listened to so far.
#ariel#disney#the little mermaid#meta#disney meta#youtube#character analysis#disney princess defense squad#it's so ironic that so many people misunderstand this movie and her story just like triton sebastian and most of the other characters did#although i would add that eric both mirrored her and was seen as a representation of everything ariel adored about the human world#he was an ideal of humanity as well as someone who could understand her#he didn't have to be the male version of ariel in order for that point to get across#aside from that little point everything else she said was on point#the movie can be perceived as an analogy for racism/xenophobia too in many respects#but i definitely see the lgbt reading in the story which is why this movie has been quite an icon in that community#both far leftists and far rightists do not understand this movie which is why they criticize it so much#only balanced people actually understand it well#ultimately it's a movie about understanding getting past prejudices and letting people be who they are#interestingly enough the people who don't understand this movie are exactly just like the characters in the beginning#this movie is far deeper and more nuanced than it gets credit for#Youtube

Summary
“One year after what unfolded in Miracle Mask, Hershel Layton receives a letter from a mysterious woman. Her town is in danger and there's no one but him who can save everyone from the city's doom. A new adventure begins, but soon, shattering secrets get in the way. Secrets that are sure to change the course of everyone's lives. Will they all be able to survive?“
Prologue: Before Disaster Strikes
“There was running, crying while horror filled the air and the voices of people who were trying by all means to escape a nightmare which had suddenly collapsed on their heads. They were unaware that it could be at the price of their lives—still, anything that could provide them a semblance of security would do.
Others were just standing there, watching from afar while it all unfolded. What could they have gained by trying to escape anyway? They knew all too well that one day, a calamity such as this one would befall them. So they simply decided to wait for their deaths to happen. They had seen, and feared, and prayed too much. What they needed to do was pray one more time and just wait for it to occur, for their lives to end.
Disaster was slowly poisoning the atmosphere and nothing could take it back. No matter how much everyone wished for a change, the engine had started and no one had enough skill to stop it before it was too late. In truth, all had begun months, even years prior to what they had to witness. Nobody had been able to notice anything—not before the professor was called for help.And there he was. Standing in the middle of the city of Ashburg, wondering if, for the first time in his life, he was on the verge of failing. Could Hershel Layton truly be helpless before all the suffering people had asked him to get them rid of only five days earlier?
He was not alone. Surrounded by a young boy and a woman who shared the same thoughts as him, though they stood out—they didn’t look terrified. They wished they could find a way to prevent the massacre, the pain and then restore peace. It was orchestrated “in the name of peace”, or at least that’s what they had been told to believe. But at what cost would it finally be over? Can hope still stand when everything seems lost?
Hershel Layton had promised them, though. “I am going to save your city. Everything is going to be alright. I demand that you trust me—I know you all can,” was all he could manage when he had to put on a brave face in front of all to keep up appearances. But scared though he may have been, a promise was a promise, and a gentleman never betrays a trust.Still, minutes later, everything seemed to be in vain. It was the last words he could pronounce before failing, and then falling to the ground, in spite of every attempt he’d made.
But for now, in that same city, located far from London, life was peaceful and quiet. No one could tell that just a few days from then, everything would fall apart and many lives would change.
In London, one man was waking up, and unbeknownst to him, he was about to receive a letter that would force him to plunge into the center of the danger. His life, too, would change. But would it be for better, or for worse?”

Hey, I sent in this ask and Tumblr ate it, so here it is:
You know how Yuu getting turned into a child because of a potion accident or a spell mishap is a pretty popular trend in twst headcanons and imagines. I'm thinking about the same scenario with Yuu while she's on her shift in the club. It either happened because of one of Von Drake's inventions accidentally zapping Yuu or someone was messing with Fairy Godmother's wand again.
I mean the chaos and panic that would ensue in the club when Yuu gets hit by a spell gone wrong, and she straight up disintegrates except for her clothes. Everyone's like "OH NO, WE KILLED OUR KID!" And Donald's reaction is like this. But then the clothes start shuffling, and they all find a cute baby Yuu.
If you thought they clubgoers were bad before when it came to competing for the custody over Yuu, it's worse now. Hell, even Mickey is twitching to grab his sorcerer hat and keyblade. Any disney character who's a parent are fighting over on who gets to hold Yuu next. Pepa Madrigal is summoning a biblical storm outside because Triton was taking too long holding Yuu, and it's supposed to be her turn. The parent characters all miss holding a baby.
"Your five minutes are up! Let me hold her!"
The couples are all high on baby fever when they get to hold Yuu. I can see Ariel really missing when Melody was a baby and turning to Eric to say that they should have another kid.
The villains to Yuu: Come to the dark side we have cookies.
I can see just cuddling with the Winnie-the-Pooh characters since they're technically anthropomorphic stuffed animals and soft enough to sleep on.
Even characters who I don't see as parent types take to Yuu so well. Gaston finally gets a turn, and he gets quiet. For the next five minutes, his hubris goes away, and he's so gentle with Yuu. Belle and Adam are in awe because that's what got him to shut up? I mean they get it. Yuu is adorable but still.
Lol. I think went too far with this ask.
"Oh no, we killed our kid!" *Side eyes the villains* it's not like any of you have ever attempted child murder before
That Donald link is everything and it is now canon that that is exactly his reaction when Yuu, his nephews and Max are in danger (I've never watched Ducktales so I don't know if there are any other kids Donald hangs out with)
I absolutely love de-aging fics. It's been one of my favourite tropes in practically every fandom I've been in. I actually did have this one story line I was brainstorming in my head during this very long car ride where some magic caused Yuu, Ace, Deuce, Leona, Azul and Epel to de-age to around 6-7-8 and the NRC students had to deal with that (it kind of played along the lines how the day before the magic accident Yuu said that if she met the NRC gang when she was younger, her younger self definitely would've wanted to be friends with them - there was even this scene where smol Yuu 'meets' baby octopus Azul and he gets all teary-eyed that this pretty 'stranger' thinks that he's nice - and there was another one with little Yuu and cub Leona where they take a nap together) but I digress.
So I'm not going to go for baby since there's not much a baby can do so I'm going to say she's reverted back to a 5/6 year old.
Lilo, Alice and Wendy insist that she spends most of her time with them. They see Yuu as a big sister and now that she's younger, they are much more protective of her. Christopher Robin is included in that group not because he's part of the Yuu Protection Squad but because he's close friends with Alice and Wendy so he's dragged along for the ride. Lilo doesn't want Yuu to hang around with the villains or the NRC boys - she's made badness charts of both Yuu and the villains to show her friend how dangerous they are. Lilo and Yuu definitely get Horace to play Elvis songs because Elvis is amazing.
It doesn't matter how old Yuu is, if she sees our favourite tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff she is hugging that silly old bear for as long as she can (lucky, lucky her). The tv show called 'My Friends Tigger and Pooh' and one special episode of 'Doc McStuffins' show that the Hundred Acre Woods gang love hanging around children even if they aren't Christopher Robin - let's just hope, Tigger doesn't get too boisterous with his bouncing. Speaking of which, Roo is very happy to have another kid to hang out with (he excitedly asks his mother if they can bring Lumpy with them the next day) and Kanga finds herself doting on Yuu even more with the other animal mothers (etc: Perdita, Mrs Jumbo, Bambi's mother, Duchess etc)
Since Simba (canonically in the first movie) and Ariel (in the non-canon sequel) are the only prince and princess to have children, I think that they would argue that they are the best suited to looking after Yuu - only for Baloo to pipe in that he and Bagheera have plenty of experience in caring for mancubs (the fact that Mowgli was raised by wolves who are still very much alive seems to be completely forgotten by the bear)
Tiana has to literally restrain Naveen and Charlotte from either kidnapping Yuu on the spot to go gallivanting to every toy and dress shop they know or just going to said shops anyway and buying everything they see.
Aladdin and Robin Hood are really good with kids in their movie (and Aladdin's TV series) so they would be having a blast regaling Yuu with tales of their adventures.
Wait, wait Jack Skellington and Sally canonically have kids in the epilogue of their movie so they would have some experience to boast about (in the movie's soudtrack with Sir Patrick Stewart at least)
Unfortunately, none of the heroes trust the villains to go within five feet of child!Yuu for completely logical and justifiable reasons so Yuu the villainous sidekicks usually end up sneaking around nearby
(At some point, Yuu ends up giving Ed the hyena a hug, headpats and a forehead kiss and he never lets anyone forget that)
All the Disney parents are living their best life with Yuu around. I think King Stefan and Queen Leah are especially happy because they never got to see their daughter, Aurora, at that age and they kind of feel like they get a chance at seeing what could have been.
Someone should also probably keep an eye on Fauna incase she pulls a Lilia and straight up kidnaps Yuu

Cal Sweeps San Diego Crew Classic, Pac-12 Challenge
#1 ranked Bears Finish Weekend Undefeated Across Both Events
MISSION BAY/REDWOOD CITY – The No. 1 California Golden Bears men's rowing team picked up right where it left off yesterday and remained undefeated over the weekend sweeping all races at the San Diego Crew Classic in Mission Bay and the Pac-12 Challenge in Redwood Shores Sunday morning. At the San Diego Crew Classic, the freshmen 8+ captured the Cal Cup and Anderson Borthwick Memorial Trophy while the 4V8+ won the Men's Collegiate 2V8+ title. At the Pac-12 Challenge the V8+ and 2V8+ both won their duels against No. 9 Syracuse.
Cal remains undefeated for the season in all dual meets, having swept the California Challenge Cup last month.
San Diego Crew Classic Recap
In the grand final of the Men's Collegiate Varsity 8+ Cal Cup, the freshmen 8+ got out with the lead pack but sat in second behind MIT and just ahead of UC San Diego through 500 meters. The Bears were eventually able to walk back MIT and take a slight lead at the midway point. Over the third 500 meters, Cal kept pressing and took a four-seat lead over UC San Diego and maintained that lead to the finish just edging out the Tritons in a time of 6:05.246.
In the grand final of the Men's Collegiate 2V8+, the 4V8+ got out with the lead pack alongside Gonzaga over the first few hundred meters and then pushed out in front by four seats ahead of Gonzaga after 1,000 meters. Cal continued to press and built a boat-length lead over the Zags in the second half of the race and finished in first place with a time of 6:24.677.
In the final of the Men's Open 8+ Anderson Borthwick Memorial Trophy, the freshmen 8+ and 4V8+ quickly jumped out in front of the pack within the first 15 strokes and built an open-water lead over the rest of the field just a few hundred meters in. From there on out it was a race between the 4V8+ and the freshmen 8+. The freshmen crew was able to pull in front by a few seats ahead of the 4V8+ by the midway point and extended its lead to a bit of open water over the last 500 meters and finished first in a time of 6:18.740 followed by the 4V8+ with a time of 6:22.251.
"It's good to have tight races now with the future in mind," Cal assistant coach Brandon Shald said. "There's no doubt there will be tight races and to have a chance this weekend to practice in close races from behind and from ahead was a good opportunity for the boys."
Pac-12 Challenge Recap
In the V8+ duel against Syracuse, Cal got off to a great start and jumped out to a four-seat lead within the first 20 strokes. Syracuse maintained contact with Cal through the first 500 meters. As the boats approached the midway point, Cal built a seven-seat lead, however Syracuse was able to walk back a couple seats over the third 500 meters. The Bears were able to hold off Syracuse and come away with the victory in a time of 5:38.5.
In the 2V8+ matchup against Syracuse, the Bears jumped out to a four-seat lead after 20 strokes. Cal was able to go ahead by about a boat length after 500 meters. At the midway point, the Bears were able to extend their separation to open water and maintained that lead to the finish with a time of 5:46.4.
In the last race of the day, Cal's 3V8+ faced off against Cal's 5V8+. The 3V8+ jumped ahead by a few seats over the first 500 meters and extended its lead to a slight amount of open water by the midway point. That lead grew to about a boat length of open water over the second half of the race as the 3V8+ finished with a time of 5:54.5 followed by the 5V8+ in 6:05.1.
"We were pleased to round out the weekend with two wins over Syracuse," Cal associate head coach Sam Baum said. "They're a formidable opponent who pushed our boats down the course. The squad is keen to get back to it Tuesday."

Triton Silva 「トリトン・シルヴァ」 Toriton Shiruva is a married nobleman of the Clover Kingdom’s house Silva, one of it’s royal families and was a former citizen of the Seabed temple. Once married to Acier Silva and father to Nozel, Nebra, Solid and Noelle. He was also a member of the Crimson Lion squad. Shortly after Noelle’s birth he ignored and abandoned the family for three decades before making a sudden reappearance.
Appearance
Triton is a large masculine, somewhat wrinkly old man. Back in his youth he had much curlier purple hair. Currently his hair tones to a darker purple as his grey roots grow in. Having a small curly bang in the middle, while the rest is swept back with several braids tied together by the Silva emblem. Accompanied by fu manchu moustache and a brett beard.
Triton wears similar clothes to all of his children: A loose fitting sea green coloured shirt with a high collar that is kept closed at the top by a gold band but is left open below to expose his collarbone. He also wears a brown colorer belt with a long skirt exposing thighs and legs with golden knee pads and sandals.
His royal robe is held together by golden circular circles with a Silva cross dangling below, above he has a flipped up collar with silva crosses shaped like birds feather. Consisting a long fur mantle, frilled panels that hang down below the hips. Triton’s mantle also has an attached robe that is long enough to reach his feet.

Nereida was named by Triton, after his father Nereus
Acier and Triton have been in an arranged marriage since Acier was 5 and Triton 10.
Triton came back to see raise his grandchildren and has shown no regrets of abandoning his children.
