Personal trikey plot headcanon:

Call me old fashioned or just a sucker for a slow, awkwardly dysfunctional descent into romance, but when it comes to my ideas of a semi realistic/workable ending for Mike and Trevor blows through like an icy wind on a warm summer afternoon, like you’ve walked around Costco and hit the fridge storage room, the customer one, you’re relieved to not be hot yet kinda upset at how opposite it is to the point you’ll hop around the doorway just to balance yourself out. That’s the premise of my headcanon.  2015 starts like any other at the De Santa household, brief morning arguments about Tracey’s life choices and her on/off flings with the college professors of all her classes, yes, ALL OF THEM, while she’s not flirting it up with Franklin since his wealth means he can chill at home with Chop and Lamar and the last thing he wants is to listen to L bitch all day about why he ain’t a 3 bit gangster yet so Frank hangs at their place to sit quietly by the pool next to his future daddy in law and not have to destroy his ears with music to drown out his besties moaning (All that time at the De Santa’s means he gets to know everybody and develop a crush on Tracey which eventually leads to babies and public screaming matches because she cannot live without drama or dick) .  The money following the union depository heist (If we assume the timeline of the final few missions rounded off around mid to late 2014) has come through after being washed via Lester’s numerous amount of fronts (Usually it wouldn’t take more than maybe a week, three tops, but the millions they pulled obviously required extra people, extra roads to travel, extra everything) and the family are in the green once again, however, the lack of worry over money gives everyone time to reflect, to make important changes in themselves and their lifestyles, well, some of them, not all.  As you can guess, the thrill of the chase being gone brings back Michael’s...issue, if you catch the drift and the deeper psychological reasons as to why create tension, release topics of conversation he never wanted to have ever again or prod using the longest of fucking sticks known to mankind.  If it isn’t sex, it’s the lack of general affection between him and Amanda being incredibly evident, painfully so, to the point they might as well be brother and sister because no married couple hug like they do, no happy person in a semi working relationship wakes up eager to pull the covers and see just the indent of their partner (Unless you’re one of the rare types who have S/O’s and just like bed space in the morning). Anyway, the talk finally bubbles to the surface, that now is the best time to divorce as the kids are grown up and they have money again and everything is sorta settled already, it’s just packing their bags and heading out, which is how the tears start cus neither of them wanna push the button, neither wanna make it official or make that call you dread while knowing it’s the least painful option for everyone, even those you ain’t met yet.  Michael gets himself a lil Vespucci condo (You know the ones with the cute bridge over the water), Amanda is given the house in the settlement and later sells it because she can’t deal with the memories and just moves into the hills (She buys one of the homes similar to Martin Madrazo’s but still close to the city), taking Tracey because no way is she living with Franklin just yet, and Jim sorta hovers, couch hopping because he’s having a rough time accepting his parents have broken up and work. He eventually bunks at Lamars and they become platonic love bros.  Come September, Mike starts giving into the questions plaguing his sexuality and ditches the gentlemen club for Leather-Face’s (Popular gay bar based around leather clothing and a really poor choice of name given to it by the owners brother who loved horror movies and ironically died when a Pomeranian bit his leg and it got infected, leading to septic shock and heart explosion), seeing if his lack of ability to be fully intimate towards women stems from an underlying homosexuality which turns out to be less than helpful as despite his new love of boppy music and sparkly fishnet tops, the touch of a man that isn’t Trevor proves to be just as lacking, just as lonely as that of a woman, given a few exceptions (He can get a lil hard to nude mags but it’s sorta a fluctuating mood spectrum) which tend to be just even more confusing and gets him in trouble with anybody interested in him.    Eventually, everything just comes to a semi climax when, with help from friends, Michael gives into his overall infatuations and comes out to Trevor, completely, asking for a date or “Hang out, but it can go ANYWHERE”, Trevs usual for just about anyone he meets ‘Insert cheap laugh here’. and gets understandably told to go fuck himself because why now and after all the pain he’s caused and blah blah Trevor’s hurt, this is opening wounds, big pity party for Mr Philips.  It takes a good deal of arguing and crying to convince his buddy to trust him but after....a month? two perhaps, Trevor eases up and they have their first terrible attempt at romance in the form of a movie at the condo and some fancy ass wine too good for both their tastes, but it leads to a cute, disgusting, hella gay half smooch and some giggles, plus some deep convo that opens M up to a chance at second base but Trevor teases him with the whole “Going easy on you, since it’s your first time” and heads home, forcing M to scream into his pillow and call Amanda cus they besties now.  Overall the headcanon is a slow progression into Mike realizing he’s somewhere on the mostly Aromantic/asexual spectrum with the exception of those he’s in love/obsessed with (Remember when Amanda said he got big balls when Brad tried to get her, it was mostly infatuation, Alpha dogging it) and being in love with Trevor, getting the life he tried to have before but properly this time, accepting himself and being sorta better but not really but also kinda.  Yes I know “MICHAEL WOULD NEVER----” Really don’t care, Honey, my headcanon, don’t like it, the doors to your...’Looks around’---WHERE IS THE FUCKING DOOR!

ROMANTIC-

Okay so it's quite clear that Trevor doesn't really label himself and just follows his feelings

As long as their heart is in the right place and they make him happy, he would fall head over heals

And that's exactly what happened with you

You guys met through Michael when he vouched for you on a heist

When you first met Trevor, you would admit

You were terrified

HOW COULD YOU NOT BE?!

This is Trevor Philips we're talking about

But he seemed almost flirtatious when you were having one-on-ones

That only made you more nervous around him since he is majorly pretty a little attractive

Throughout the planning of the score and the actual heist, Trevor went out of his way to try and be around you more often

Being around you was juxtaposing to his so-called job and he loved it

He needed a break from time to time and you were the perfect way he could have those needed breaks

After the score was completed, you guys stayed in touch and went out regularly

After about 4 months, Trevor FINALLY had the balls to ask you out on a proper date

Your biggest secret had been weighing down on your mind for months

And you finally built up the courage to tell him that you were transgender

It was around 2A.M. and you guys had just finished playing a game of monopoly

Thoughts on Travelers, which probably tend towards the critical side, since I want to be more positive in tags when I reblog gifsets. Gotta get the feelings out somewhere.

To start, the premise of the show has potential. It has time travel and an AI trying to help humanity. Unfortunately it doesn’t execute either as well as 12 Monkeys or Person of Interest for example. The problem with time travel shows is that they’re far easier to mess up than they are to do well.

Season one did a decent job of setting up the characters as people the audience could be invested in, but the pace of the season’s arc needed work. Luckily, the pacing was improved in seasons 2 and 3, though the stand-alones were clunky. Travelers had a tendency to do things for drama rather than purpose. In fact a lot of what pushed me through seasons 2 and 3 was the hope that my questions would be answered in the following episodes. Instead, I usually ended up with more questions.

But like I said, it did set up the characters quite well. I found myself quickly rooting for them (mostly), and I enjoyed their team dynamic. I’ll probably talk more about this in gifset tags, so moving on.

Beyond the characters as individuals though, Travelers didn’t do well with the romantic relationships. All of them ended up with weird and/or unhealthy dynamics. Arguably, the Marcy and David one ended up the best, but it started off quite uncomfortably for me. I know they mentioned over and over again that it’s okay because Marcy is now Traveler 3569 and not a mentally disabled woman, but having her with her host body’s social worker just didn’t feel right. Also, toward the beginnings of their relationships (pre- and post-reboot), Marcy had a tendency to experiment or get David to stop talking by kissing him, which was uncomfortable given that he liked her but didn’t want things to happen like that.

The next was technically not romantic but romantically coded: Trevor and Grace post-TELLs. It’s again one of those inappropriate in their host bodies relationships. I think if the set-up for it didn’t start back when Grace was pre-TELL, I’d more okay with it. Obviously Trevor platonically appreciated original Grace as a good person, hence trying to save her, but the way their scenes were shot had me going, “Oh no, uncomfortable signals.” I trusted Trevor not to do anything inappropriate, but I wasn’t sure where they were going with Grace. I suppose that could just be me not trusting media with teacher/counselor-student relationships.

Then there’s MacLaren and Kathryn. Jeebus, the gaslighting. I was rooting for Kat to get out of that marriage from season one. Screw protocol 5. People divorce. MacLaren was supposed to be dead anyway. Let her go have a new life instead of repeatedly traumatizing her and then telling her everything is in her head. Traveler 3468 angrily saying, “You’re going to throw away our marriage of 10 years and all the years we had before that?” knowing full well that she was right in saying he was a different person? Not cool, dude. Super selfish. Just because you happened to fall in love with her doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve better. When 3468 let Kat have a second chance with her ex when he went back to 2001, I was so relieved.

Quick note about Philip in this regard: it was obvious to me that Jenny was using him from the start. It sucks he couldn’t see it too. Even after knowing the Faction existed, the team trusted other travelers way too easily. And then that weirdness with Carly and the alternate timelines? Why? Maybe they planned on taking it somewhere in a theoretical season 4, but it was so random.

Speaking of Carly, her and Jeff are obviously The Most Unhealthy Relationship in this show. At the beginning of the series, I thought, “Sigh. Aaaand of course we’re going to play to stereotype and have the black woman be in the abusive relationship with her violent black boyfriend.” Then in season 3 when they introduced Carly’s new neighbor, who is also in an abusive relationship, of course she’s a black woman too. The writers probably tried to mirror Carly in every way, but it’s, uhh, not great.

Back from relationships to individual characters, Travelers was not great at setting up character motivation or arcs. Why Jeff was so obsessed with Marcy kicking ass outside the library that it snowballed to David getting trouble with his boss, I will never know. Maybe to show Jeff is an asshole in general and not just to Carly? Maybe just to emphasize to the audience that the writers are aware the David and Marcy relationship could be construed as inappropriate but they want to reassure them that it’s okay now? Why was Jeff even made aware with it in the first place? If memory serves, another cop showed it to him as a sort of, “Hey, you might find this interesting.” Was he looking for other instances of other women suddenly fighting back that night when you wouldn’t expect them to?

Speaking of pre-TELL Marcy, why on Earth would she agree to participate in Ingram’s experiments? Going from having concerns about how the patients are being treated to agreeing to participate in a trial for the mentally ill is a large jump. I can’t fathom the logical steps that lead from one to the other. On the other hand, it explains her MRI better. Congenital deformations in that MRI? I don’t think so. Disclaimer: I am not a neuroradiologist. However, I have collaborated with several for about eight years now. I should probably take another look at the MRI to refresh my memory, but I think it had the appearance of someone taking an ice cream scoop and removing chunks asymmetrically. The brain doesn’t develop like that. It goes from the center out. If anything, I guess that could be a massive stroke? It would fit better with overwritten adults dying of burst aneurysms. I don’t understand why the doctors in this show wouldn’t pick up on that.

This goes back to what I was saying about Travelers doing things for drama and not necessarily what’s best for the storyline. There was very little in the way of setup, building blocks here and there that suddenly built and made more sense as the show went on. Instead, a character would secretly be Faction, and the team magically knows about it (via the Director?). Or a character would switch sides, and we’d just have to roll with it (Luca’s suddenly disillusioned and Faction now?). As a result, I was suspicious of any non-team members all the time. Drama was coming somehow and not necessarily in a way that made sense. Anything could happen. Anyone could turn.

As I mentioned I ended up having a lot of questions. This post barely covers all of them. One could argue that answers would’ve come with additional seasons. None of of us will ever know. Unfortunately, the writing of the three seasons was not tight enough to give me hope on that front.

Fandom talk: Trikey is not a fetish ship

If the tumblr Rads do their job then this saga is not going to last long-- BUT! That doesn’t mean I’m not gonna get the balls jiggling like a lil shit-lord.  ---- Fandoms, the title of said post and what we enjoy stuff within, make friends within, love, enemies, rivals, associates we sometimes chat to if we just happen to be in the same place at the same time and have enough confidence to not run the fuck the other way.  Fandoms, great places, terrible places, sewers for games, movies, books and so on, especially when our biggest internet sewer, happens to be Tumblr.  For the pilot post, I will bring attention to a personal favourite: Trikey.  If you dunno what the ship is: It’s Michael De Santa and Trevor Philips. Classic platonic/kinda not really platonic but god knows they’re too stupid/repressed to say anything ship of mid-2013. Course the name came later.  A lot of people like to shit on trikey for all the reasons you can think of, literally, people will call the ship ANYTHING just to make you feel like shit for liking it cus everyone feels entitled to an opinion these days, even the worst kind of opinions known to man/woman/horse.  One of the big labels of hate is fetishing, fetishing gay/straight/lgbtq dudes and serial killers.  People have used this subject of hate, time and time again to make fans of trikey afraid to shit it out of understandable “I don’t wanna be a fetisher!” and “I don’t want to be seen this way!”  As someone on the extreme end of that argument, back then and to this day, on and off tumblr, I’m here to say a thing, said it back in the day and I’ll say it now.  Matchmaking: two people introduced through whatever means, usually one friend knows another friend and they have a friend who is looking for someone, or maybe a bro is trying to hook his younger/older bro up and he knows this hot chick/dude/horse, you get the idea, two people are thought to be “Good together” and so Dave brings Jim-bob and Mary-sue brings Daisy-fae and the two are like “OMG YOU GUYS ARE SUCH A PERF MATCH! HELL YAW!”  We do this every single day IRL: We ship real people and think nothing of it, nobody is dubbed a “Fetisher” because you brought Tim to the same party with intentions of getting him together with Andy.  Women do this, Men do this, men and women, both, neither, trans, EVERYONE FUCKING DOES IT!  But if you’re online, and the people aren’t actually real, things go out the window.  Now yes, I completely admit and agree that there are really weird/fucked up people online who will and do fetish characters, male, female, neither, both, whatever race or age or even specific gender, age, race, people get really terrible about it and they will defend their actions as “Hey it’s not real”, which no, it isn’t, but when they are showing clear signs/evidence of fetishing, only then, should things be said, and not in the screaming harpy fandom war type of way, no, actually speak to the person, report them, call them out with real evidence you and many others have, or just block them out because sometimes, sickos only respond to a fence built between them and the shit they’re fetishing.  However, just shipping/matchmaking two guys/people, is not fetishing.  Trikey, when it isn’t extreme, is just people/fans, shipping two guys with actual chemistry, when it isn’t extreme, trikey is harmless fun between fans of a video game, enjoying their time like everyone does!  I enjoy shipping trikey, just as much as playing minecraft or sims or writing, more so even!  Actual fetishing is happening every day IRL, in magazines, ads, marketing, business, everything, yes it can be as bad online, but making fans of something out to be the Harvey Weinstein in training....not rational and not okay. Really not okay, dudes.  If you knew actual fetishing, it would disturb you, enrage you, make you want to go out and stop it, not hang around fandoms and taunt/harass people online because omg two fictional people are getting it on or being pushed together out of the same shit we IRL ship Suzy and Dan from the club!  GROW. UP.  Get some brains, googie the meaning of fetish, learn some shit and go make a point of your argument.  Actually defend something instead of screaming at the sky like someone is going to open the clouds and be like “Dudeeeee, you’re so woke”  Because woke people, are out there, are leaving fandoms be and doing something good in the world.  And now, like a woke person myself....I am going to run the fuck away and prep myself for the screaming harpys of tumblr to come destroy me
