I have to admit, I’m irked by the perception that Ryan and Min need to be gay. Fandom in general seems to have this underlying idea that any worthwhile relationship must be romantic (unless the characters are related, and sometimes even then). I think that trend is even stronger if the characters are of the same sex; with guys especially, there’s this sense that they can’t have strong feelings for each other unless it’s based on attraction. 

Don’t get me wrong: maybe they will become a couple, and people are obviously free to ship them either way. I’m just saying, the show did not "fail” or “queerbait” if we get a really good story about friendship but not romance. Jesse/Lake and Grace/Simon are both compelling relationships even if they didn’t actually get together by the end of their seasons.
