I woke up this morning and the first thing I saw was the news about Club Q... I've been in a fog ever since. I cried in relief when a friend told me she was ok and safe and then immediately broke down and sobbed when I found out another had been killed. I'm holding my breath waiting for word from others. Club Q was always filled with loving and accepting people, they were planning an event for Transgender day of Remembrance (today!) and on holding another Friendsgiving this year. They had family events, bbqs... I was looking forward to moving back and seeing everyone again and now... I don't know what to do, none of us do. All we know is this is wrong and we all feel raw and broken.

As realistic as I try to lead my life, I saw this in the news just before I fell asleep and some small part of me was hoping it would just disappear by the time I woke up this morning. It did not. Innocent lives were taken in a gay club last night. Once again, the queer and trans population have become free range targets for bigots with guns and the conviction to kill and punish.
And now what is the struggle we face? Being accused of being groomers, pedophiles, and the notion that we want to castrate innocent children. This rhetoric being passed down in legislative bodies and media pundits on social media has now given conviction AND a false sense of legitimacy to those who want to slaughter us in droves and put us in prisons.
Many of you know this is the struggle and the community I have, in other words, hitched my wagon to with immeasurable passion and heart, and on a morning like the one today that heart is broken. We want to love freely. We want to live our lives freely. In 2022, it is remarkable that we have to beg for the most basic and mundane of human rights yet here we are.
I beg of you to combat this rhetoric. To my queer/trans friends across the country, I advise you to organize, build community, learn basic first aid such as "stop the bleeding" training, and do what you can not to surrender yourselves as soft targets for genocide and pogroms. We have simply come too far.🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

Our little community contains so much anger and grief, but it's because we love each other so fiercely. We remember our dead because their memory keeps us stubborn.

I've always been better with drawings than words, but today I want to try to express my thoughts and open up to you.
Today we “celebrates” the #tdor , Transgender Day of Remembrance, where we remember our trans siblings who lost their lives to discrimination and transphobia. We are here to remember their names even if we have never really known them, we get together and remember them to ensure that what happened to them never happens to any trans person again.
I'm tired of hearing about trans people tragically losing their lives, I'm tired of being afraid of coming out because I don't know who I have in front of me, what could happen if this person reacted badly. I am lucky enough to have my family and friends next to me, but unfortunately I am a lucky case not as common as it should be... I want to be close and hug all my siblings who have no one next to them, tell them that they are strong and that I will be there even if there are seas and mountains to divide us, but unfortunately my voice will never be strong enough to reach everyone.
I thank those who support me and those next to me, I hope that sooner or later these victims will be just a painful memory of a hostile past towards our community and that, in the future, the list of names will no longer grow. I love you, rest in power my friends ❤️🏳️⚧️
