(disclaimer: i literally know nothing about pokemon i'm going off of vibes only)

Rinku: would probably have an aipom on her team (that steals her food. constantly.). also a heracross. I feel like she would have a few bug types on her team

Muni: has a buneary. Maybe a bulbasaur also (just because the shape reminds me of nyochio lol)

Esora: fire type trainer? would probably have a tepig or delphox

Noa: has a sylveon. used to be an eevee, but she loved it so much it evolved

Towa: water type trainer. has an azumarill, mantyke, and spheal

Rika: has a gyarados. i like to think she just came home one day with a magikarp and they became buddies from then on

Dalia: probably???? blaziken, sawk, and a machamp (who is equally afraid of ghosts as she is)

Hiiro: psychic type trainer. no specific pokemon comes to mind with her lol (probably has an audino..?)

Nagisa: has electric type pokemon. joltik maybe? or jolteon (they remind me of her hair)

Murderous, no (most of them, anyway), but still a big difference.

Like, what I meant was, for many people, it's a huge hurdle to full on hurt anyone, let alone kill. Of course some people can do it with no problem or else the world would be a lot better, but... I did swordfighting as a hobby for a while, and there was some self defense and hand to hand in there, too, and the thing my trainer had to tell us the most often was to hit harder.

Those were dull swords and we were wearing padding/protective gear. Sure there were some bruises, but we all knew there would be and went there knowingly and willingly, and a lot of us were still hesitant.

If Otogiri and Sakuya are anything to go by, most of Tsubaki's Subclass, as a human, would have also been... Hesitant, to seriously harm anyone, but by the time we meet them, that's no concern - Sure Lawless was a capture mission, but reasonable to assume it'd become a full blown fight. And somehow, those kids went from "Probably could not even try to defend themselves" to "Could seriously harm someone else even if they start the fight".

This addition to Noel’s team was suggested by @littlemisslemonbits! Sleipnir, a Rapidash inspired by the move Zero Gun: Sleipnir, Noel’s Exceed Accel. Ability: Run Away Moves: - Wild Charge - Stomp - Fire Blast - Agility

The other members of her team, introduced in my earlier posts, are;

Fenrir (Arcanine) M Ability: Justified Moves: - Extreme Speed - Flame Burst - Flame Thrower - Reversal

Thor (Pikachu) M Ability: Lightning Rod Moves: - Swift - Electro Ball - Agility - Iron Tail

Zero Gun: Sleipnir was added in Central Fiction, along with the rest of the cast’s Exceed Accels. Like Fenrir and Thor, Sleipnir is named after a creature of Norse Mythology- specifically, Odin’s horse. I had been considering looking for a Pokemon to represent Noel’s Sleipnir, but at the time none of the horse Pokemon I looked at seemed like Pokemon Noel would be drawn to, so I had given up on the thought.

As mentioned, it was Ilebuy from @littlemisslemonbits who suggested the Ponyta/Rapidash line. I’d overlooked it at the time, but it’s definitely easy to see Noel fawning over a Ponyta, and the Fire-Typing translates well to the aesthetics of Bolverk’s blasts!

I chose Run Away for the Ability for a number of Reasons. First, to allude to Noel’s extremely/evasive fighting style, with all the flips in her animations and dodge moves in her BBDW appearances. Secondly, to reference how Bolverk’s emotional limiters work to enable Noel to ‘run away’ from her emotions and her trauma instead of facing either head on. Lastly, I just thought it suited her shy personality.

Wild Charge is the primary attack in Sleipnir’s moveset meant to represent the Sleipnir from CF. It’s a flashy Electric-type move to bring to mind the rail gun that appears in the Exceed Accel. Stomp serves as a reference to the kicks that appear in Noel’s general animations, while Fire Blast represents Bolverk’s usual shots. Agility serves to reflect Noel’s acrobatic and fast paced fighting style- pretty much the same reason I gave the move to Thor previously.

Since my older posts, I’ve done some rewrites to how I would envision Noel in a Pokemon AU, so I’ll share them here too!

I still like the idea of Noel growing up with her parents somewhere around Floaroma Town in Sinnoh, and she would still meet her Growlithe Fenrir in the same manner- both of them becoming lost in Eterna Forest.

Instead of sending her off to just any Trainer School, she would travel to attend Uva Academy in Paldea. Perhaps Thor would be the Pokemon she would be given to raise upon entering the Academy, or maybe she would catch Thor during her Treasure Hunt. Either way, it’s in Paldea that she would meet Makoto, Tsubaki, and her other friends.

I haven’t quite decided where she would meet Sleipnir... I’m sure I want her to catch him as a Ponyta. They likely meet while she’s back home in Sinnoh, though I’m not sure if it should be during a school break or after her graduation.

As a closing thought, I wonder if this version of Noel could be a Faller, specifically an extra-dimensional version of Ragna and Jin’s sister Saya...

It’s winter, and Tsubaki’s petals are looking rather dull. In hindsight, it probably wasn’t the best idea to bring her on that walk the other night, but that little gremlin has me wrapped around her little finger and she knows it! In any case, we spent the day cozied up inside with some nice chesto berry tea.

I remember my first winter as a Pokemon trainer. I was born in Celadon, see, and all the Pokemon I had trained with up until then stayed in the gym’s greenhouse during the colder months. Imagine my panic when my poor Ivysaur’s leaves started drooping!

To anyone new to raising grass types, here’s something to ease your mind. No, your friend is *not* dying. During winter, many grass Pokemon do experience some degree of weakness due to the shorter days and the colder temperature. They should be fine, but you should keep in mind that your partner(s) will need some extra care. Make sure they’re getting sun when they can, and try to keep them on a nutrient rich diet as they tend to be more vulnerable to sickness during this time. Also, if you’re a trainer, I’d highly suggest lightening your usual regiment to accommodate your partner’s needs. Take it from me, this is the WORST time to overwork them.

With all that said, remember not to panic. Pokemon are incredibly good at picking up on their trainers’ feelings, and as long as you remain calm and remember that this is a natural process you’ll make thing much easier on your partner.

Finally... where this whole rambling thought process started, Pokemon legends. They're a lot less gym leader-y than Alola's Trial Captains were but in Japanese both the Trial Captains and Wardens are just called "Captain."

Funny enough Mai's name in Japanese is Yone, but Marley's name in Japanese was Mai. Both Mai and Yone are pronunciations of [米] the kanji for "Rice."

I covered Lian along with Clay in the Unova post, but his name is Kikui, referring to the Jerusalem Artichoke.

Arezu is a unique one. Her name was Hinatsu, from hinatsu-boshi[火夏星] which is an old outdated term for the planet Mars, lit. "Fire Summer Star." With Arezu being a play on the Greek god, Ares, both English and Japanese names are precursors to Mars, her descendent in Sinnoh.

Calaba's name in Japanese was Yugao, from yugao[夕顔] a specific variant of the calabash gourd. Oddly it's the same plant they took Roark's name from, but the two don't appear to be related... And Calabash is where they got the English name. Also she has an obvious korpokkur look with her diminutive size and the giant butterbur leaf, yet she wasnt named after the butterbur in any way????

Iscan's name is Susuki from susuki[芒] Japanese name for "silvergrass." Scientific name Miscanthus sinensis, gives us the English name. Still no idea who he's related to, if anyone...

Palina's name is Garana Japanese approximation of Guarana. Scientific name, Paullinia cupana, gets us the English name. Same boat as Susuki, no idea who she's related to, which is hilarious because trying to puzzle these two out was literally the entire point of this whole dive into everyone's names....

Melli's name I brought up along with Karen. Tsubaki[椿]:"Camellia." Weirdly no apparent relation to Karen's name at all, but tied to Sanqua's; sazanka-hana[山茶花] the "sasanqua camellia."

Ingo really doesn't fit this series on plant names... Ingo and Emmet's names are Nobori and Kudari from the rail terms [上り] and [下り], literally just meaning "Up-going" and "Down-going," respectively. Nobori being terminus-bound, and Kudari being origin-bound.

Sabi's name was Wasabi. Just straight up, wasabi[山葵]... Totally unrelated her descendent, Cheryl's real name is Momi from momi[籾]: "unhulled rice," reflected in her braided hair design. It aligns with the Sinnoh stat specialist trainers' theme of grains.(Mai:Rice, Momi:Unhulled Rice, Buck:Wheat, Mil:Millet, Gen:Brown Rice)

Gaeric's name is Hamarenge, which is the common Japanese name hamarenge[浜蓮華] for the Weaselsnout plant, aka Uruppu-so[得撫草], which is where Wulfric(Urup) gets his name. I talked about it a little more at length when talking about Kalos.

and so long as i've got space to fill on this last image...

Irida's name is Kai, a rather weak reference to shinjugai[真珠貝]: Pearl oyster, (kai[カイ] from shinjugai[シンジュガイ]) technically if isolated kai[貝] just means "shell."

Adaman's name is Seki, similarly a heavily cropped bit of kongoseki[金剛石]: "diamond." If taken alone seki[石] just means "stone," but obviously the two clan leaders just being "shell" and "stone" without the added context doesn't really make much sense.
