Fountain of Love - Pedri
Authors note: I've never written something like this so give me feedback! and please send in some requests!🫶🏼
+ I could turn this into a series but yall have to give me songs😭 and it doesn't necessarily have to be by Quevedo.
Warnings: incorrect grammar (probably), my first language isn't english so if you notice any mistakes please tell me
WC: 800 ish
Summary: You meet Pedri, a talented footballer, in the city. Despite challenges, your love grows stronger. Now, watching the sunset together, you find solace in each other's arms, knowing your love will endure.
Meaning of the song: Columbia by Quevedo is about a romantic relationship, with the lyrics expressing themes of love, desire, and passion. The song likely explores the ups and downs of being in a relationship, perhaps touching on emotions like longing, excitement, and devotion.
The first time you laid eyes on Pedri was like a scene out of a romantic novel, a moment etched into your memory with the vividness of a dream. It was a balmy summer evening, the kind where the air hung heavy with the scent of street food and the sound of laughter danced through the bustling streets. The town square was alive with activity, a vibrant tapestry of colors and sounds that captivated your senses as you strolled through its midst.
And then, amidst the chaos, you saw him—Pedri, standing by the fountain like a serene figure in a painting. There was something about him, something magnetic that drew you in, like a moth to a flame. Not too tall but incredibly handsome, with tousled dark hair and hazel eyes that seemed to hold the secrets of the universe, he exuded a quiet confidence that set him apart from the crowd.
As you approached him, your heart fluttered with anticipation, unsure of what to expect from this enigmatic stranger. But when he turned to look at you, a warm smile gracing his lips, all your doubts melted away. "Hello," he said, his voice soft and melodic, sending shivers down your spine. "Enjoying the evening?"
His words were simple, yet they held a world of meaning, a silent invitation to join him in this moment of serenity amidst the chaos of the city. And so, with a smile of your own, you nodded, feeling a sense of connection blooming between you like a flower in bloom. "Yes, it's beautiful," you replied, your voice barely above a whisper, the words carrying a weight of their own.
And just like that, your journey with Pedri began—a journey filled with twists and turns, highs and lows, laughter and tears. He wasn't just any ordinary guy; he was a footballer, a rising star in the world of sports, with a talent that left spectators in awe and opponents trembling in their boots. But despite his fame and success, he remained humble and down-to-earth, a quality that only made you fall for him even harder.
Together, you navigated the highs and lows of his career, from the exhilarating victories to the devastating defeats. You were his biggest fan, cheering him on from the sidelines with unwavering devotion, even when the odds seemed stacked against him. And through it all, he never failed to make you feel like the most important person in the world, showering you with love and affection every chance he got.
But amidst the excitement of his career, there were moments of doubt and uncertainty, moments when you wondered if your love could withstand the pressures of fame and fortune. There were rumors and scandals, gossip columns filled with speculation about Pedri's personal life, threatening to tear you apart.
But through it all, you stood by him, your love stronger than ever in the face of adversity. You were his rock, his anchor in the storm, reminding him of the person he truly was beneath the glare of the spotlight.
As the years passed, your bond with Pedri only grew stronger, deepening with each passing day. You shared your hopes and dreams, your fears and insecurities, knowing that no matter what the future held, you would face it together.
And then, one magical evening, Pedri got down on one knee and asked you to be his forever. It was a moment you would never forget—the way his eyes sparkled with love and adoration, the way his voice trembled with emotion as he professed his undying love for you. And as you said yes, tears of joy streaming down your cheeks, you knew that your life would never be the same again.
Now, as you stand hand in hand with Pedri, watching the sunset paint the sky in hues of pink and gold, you feel a sense of peace wash over you. For in Pedri's arms, you have found your home, your safe haven in a world filled with chaos and uncertainty.
As the stars begin to twinkle overhead, you lean in to kiss Pedri, your heart overflowing with love and gratitude. For in Pedri, you have found not only a lover but a partner, a soulmate to share life's journey with until the end of time. And as you gaze into each other's eyes, you know that no matter what the future may hold, as long as you have each other, you will always find your way back home.

Tidbit: The “Posterization” Effect of Panels Due to the Consequences of GIF Color Quantization (and Increased Contrast (And Also The Tangential Matter of Dithering))
Tumblr media
There’s this misconception that the color banding and patterned dithering found in panels is an entirely deliberate, calculated effect Hussie manipulated the image into looking with some specific filter, but this isn’t the case, exactly. It wasn’t so much a conscious decision he took but rather an unavoidable consequence of the medium he partook in: digital art in an age where bandwidth and storage was at a premium.
Not to delve too deeply into the history and technicalities of it, but the long and the short of it is back in the early nineties to late aughts (and even a bit further into the 10s), transferring and storing data over the web was not as fast, plentiful, and affordable as it is now. Filesize was a much more important consideration than the fidelity of an image when displaying it on the web. Especially so when you’re a hobbyist on a budget and paying for your own webhosting, or using a free service with a modest upload limit (even per file!). Besides, what good would it be to post your images online if it takes ages to load them over people's dial-up Internet? Don't even get me STARTED on the meager memory and power the average iGPU had to work with, too.
Tumblr media
The original comic strip's resolution was a little more than halved and saved as a GIF rather than a large PNG. That's about an 82.13% reduction in filesize!
So in the early days it was very common for people to take their scans, photographs, and digital drawings and scale them down and publish them as smaller lossily compressed JPEGs or lossless GIFs, the latter of which came at the cost of color range. But it had a wider range of browser support and the feature to be used for animations compared to its successor format, PNG ("PNG's not GIF").
You'd've been hard-pressed to find Hussie use any PNGs himself then. In fact, I think literally the only times he's ever personally employed them and not delegate the artwork to a member of the art team were some of the tiny shrunken down text of a character talking far in the distance and a few select little icons.
Tumblr media
PNGs support semi-transparency unlike GIFs, which is why Hussie used them to preserve the anti-aliasing on the text without having to add an opaque background color.
While PNGs can utilize over 16 million colors in a single image, GIFs have a hard limit of 256 colors per frame. For reference, this small image alone has 604 colors:
Tumblr media
For those who can't do the math, 256 is a pretty damn small number.
Smaller still were the palettes in a great deal of MSPA's panels early on in its run. Amazingly, a GIF such as this only uses 7 colors (8 if you count the alpha (which it is)).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not that they were always strictly so low; occasionally some in the later acts of Homestuck had pretty high counts. This panel uses all 256 spots available, in fact.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If he had lowered the number any smaller, the quality would have been god-awful.
To the untrained eye, these bands of color below may seem to be the result of a posterization filter (an effect that reduces smooth areas of color into fewer harsh solid regions), but it's really because the image was exported as a GIF with no dithering applied.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dithering, to the uninitiated, is how these colors are arranged together to compensate for the paltry palette, producing illusory additional colors. There are three algorithms in Photoshop for this: Diffusion, Pattern, and Noise.
Tumblr media
Above is the original image and below is the image reduced to a completely binary 1-bit black and white color palette, to make the effect of each dithering algorithm more obvious.
Tumblr media
Diffusion seemingly displaces the pixels around randomly, but it uses error diffusion to calculate what color each pixel should be. In other words, math bullshit. The Floyd-Steinberg algorithm is one such implementation of it, and is usually what this type of error diffusion dithering is called in other software, or some misnomer-ed variation thereof.
The usage of Pattern may hearken back to retro video game graphics for you, as older consoles also suffered from color palette limitations. Sometimes called Ordered dithering because of the orderly patterns it produces. At least, I assumed so. Its etymological roots probably stem from more math bullshit again.
True to its name, Noise is noisy. It’s visually similar to Diffusion dithering, except much more random looking. At least, when binarized like this. Truth be told, I can’t tell the difference between the two at all when using a fuller color table on an image with a lot of detail. It was mainly intended to be used when exporting individual slices of an image that was to be “stitched” back together on a webpage, to mitigate visible seams in the dithering around the edges.
To sate your curiosity, here's how the image looks with no dithering at all:
Tumblr media
People easily confuse an undithered gif as being the result of posterization, and you couldn't fault them for thinking so. They look almost entirely the same!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although I was already aware of this fact when I was much younger, I'm guilty of posterizing myself while editing images back then. Figured I may as well reduce the color count beforehand to help keep the exported GIF looking as intended. I view this as a complete waste of time now, though, and amateurish. Takes away a bit of the authenticity of MSPA art, how the colors and details are so variable between panels. As for WHY they were so variable to begin with, choosing the settings to save the image as requires a judicious examination on a case-by-case basis. In other words, just playing around with the settings until it looks decent.
It's the process of striking a fine balance between an acceptable file size and a "meh, good enough" visual quality that I mentioned earlier. How many colors can you take away until it starts to look shit? Which dithering algorithm helps make it look not as shit while not totally ruining the compression efficacy?
Take, for example, this panel from Problem Sleuth. It has 16 colors, an average amount for the comic, and uses Diffusion dithering. Filesize: 34.5 KB.
Tumblr media
Then there's this panel right afterwards. It has 8 colors (again, technically 7 + alpha channel since it's an animated gif), and uses Noise dithering this time. Filesize: 34.0 KB.
Tumblr media
The more colors and animation frames there are, and the more complicated dithering there is, the bigger the file size is going to be. Despite the second panel having half the color count of the first, the heavily noisy dithering alone was enough to inflate the file size back up. On top of that, there's extra image information layered in for the animation, leaving only a mere 0.5 kilobyte difference between the two panels.
So why would Hussie pick the algorithm that compresses worse than the other? The answer: diffusion causes the dithering to jitter around between frames of animation. Recall its description from before, how it functions on nerd shit like math calculations. The way it calculates what each pixel's color will be is decided by the pixels' colors surrounding it, to put it simply. Any difference in the placement of pixels will cause these cascading changes in the dithering like the butterfly effect.
Tumblr media
Diffusion dithering, 16 colors. Filesize: 25.2 KB
This isn't the case with Noise or Pattern dithering, since their algorithms use either a texture or a definite array of numbers (more boring nerd shit).
Tumblr media
Noise dithering, 16 colors. Filesize: 31.9 KB
Tumblr media
Pattern dithering, 16 colors. Filesize: 23.1 KB
There's a lot more I'd like to talk about, like the different color reduction algorithms, which dither algorithms generally compress better in what cases, and the upward and downward trends of each one’s use over the course of a comic, but since this isn’t a deep dive on GIF optimization, I might save that for another time. This post is already reaching further past the original scope it was meant to cover, and less than 10 images can be uploaded before hitting the limit, which is NOWHERE near enough for me. I should really reevaluate my definition of the word “tidbit”… Anyway, just know that this post suffers from sample selection bias, so while the panels above came from an early section of Problem Sleuth that generally had static panels with diffusion dithering and animated panels with noise dithering, there certainly were animated panels with diffusion later on despite the dither-jittering.
Alright, time to shotgun through the rest of this post, screw segueing. Increasing the contrast almost entirely with “Use Legacy” enabled spreads the tones of the image out evenly, causing the shadows and highlights to clip into pure black and white. The midtones become purely saturated colors. Using the Levels adjustment filter instead, moving both shadow and highlight input level sliders towards the middle also accomplishes the same thing, because, you know, linear readjustment. I'm really resisting the urge to go off on another tangent about color channels and the RGB additive color model.
Tumblr media
Anyway, there aren't any examples in MSPA that are quite this extreme (at least in color, but I'll save that for a later post), but an image sufficiently high in contrast can be mistaken for being posterized at a glance. Hence the Guy Fieri banner. In preparation for this post, I was attempting to make a pixel-perfect recreation of that panel but hit a wall trying to figure out which and how many filters were used and what each one's settings were, so I sought the wisdom of those in the official Photoshop Discord server. The very first suggestion I got was a posterization filter, by someone who was a supposed senior professional and server moderator, no less. Fucking dipshit, there's too much detail preserved for it to be posterization. Dude totally dissed me and my efforts too, so fuck that moron. I spit on his name and curse his children, and his children's children. The philistines I have to put up with...
In the end, the bloody Guy Fieri recreation proved to be too much for me to get right. I got sort of close at times, but no cigar. These were some of the closest I could manage:
Tumblr media
You might be left befuddled after all this, struggling to remember what the point of the blogpost even was. I had meant for it to be a clarification of GIFs and an argument against using the posterization filter, thinking it was never used in MSPA, but while gathering reference images, I found a panel from the Felt intermission that actually WAS posterized! So I’ll eat crow on this one... Whatever, it’s literally the ONE TIME ever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can tell it's posterization and not gif color quantization because of the pattern dithering and decently preserved details on the bomb and bull penis cane. There would have had to have been no dithering and way fewer colors than the 32, most of which were allotted to the bomb and cane. You can't really selectively choose what gets dithered or more colors like this otherwise.
Thank you for reading if you've gotten this far. That all might have been a lot to take in at once, so if you're still unclear about something, please don't hesitate to leave a question! And as always, here are the PSDs used in this post that are free to peruse.

Municipal vexillology in the United States is a disaster
Tumblr media
Billings, Montana: this is not a flag, this is the logo of a fast food joint from the 80s somebody stuck on a tricolor
Tumblr media
Annandale, Virginia: asymmetry in flags is very popular these days. it can look great when executed well. this is not executed well. the logo looks like something you would find on a shampoo bottle.
Tumblr media
Des Moines, Iowa: this one just makes me dizzy
Tumblr media
Chattanooga, Tennessee: short of putting the physical outline of your polity on a flag, putting your logo or seal on a flag, in full color, is one of my flag pet peeves. it's an unreadable mess. and the choice of colors on the stripes is also awful. what shade of blue even is that???
this is an even worse flag bc it replaced a perfectly decent, if not especially imaginative one, for this thing that looks like it was designed in Microsoft Word.
Tumblr media
Grand Forks, North Dakota: speaking of flags that look like low-quality clip art.
Tumblr media
Easton, Pennsylvania: someone got very confused trying to design an American flag and I guess they kept it for the city flag.
Tumblr media
Detroit, Michigan: wayyy too busy. Just, fuckin' like. Chill man.
Tumblr media
Tampa, Florida: speaking of busy! the non-rectangular flag is cool, but unfortunately the choice of colors is ass.
Tumblr media
Knoxville, Tennessee: once again with the shades of blue that are just... off. plus some truly strange choices regarding stripes.
Tumblr media
Milwaukee, Wisconson: I think what i hate most about this flag is that whoever designed it did so with clear effort and care and intentionality. they didn't just slap something together. they drew this lovingly. and not only is it completely chaotic and illegible as a flag, it does that stupid thing of putting the name of the place in massive letters across the bottom. even though this flag will only be flown in the city of milwaukee. i hate this flag so much.
Tumblr media
Long Beach, California: but the one I hate the most is this. It's not just that it's two almost perfectly complimentary colors that make it look like the whole flag is vibrating, it has a full-color city seal, which looks like garbage, plus the name of the city and its slogan. garbage-tier flag.

"Slowly Sinking, Wasting" Rafe Cameron x Maybank!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: JJ's younger sister starts feeling left out when Sarah Cameron joins the Pogues, so she decides to start spending time with the kooks and coping in all the unhealthy ways she learned from her father.
A/N: This is set in season 1 and is before he goes psycho.
"What are you doing here?" He asked with a smirk, not moving from his spot on the couch.
"Looking for the real party, can you help?" I crossed my arms over my chest, which also helped conceal my shaking hands. I was trying not to think about how low and desperate I was, seeking help from Rafe Cameron.
"Damn, I thought you were too good for us, or is it cool now that Sarah has replaced you so you thought you'd go dark side?" I tried to keep my face neutral, not showing how truthful his words were.
"Do you actually care? I'm here to buy some coke, if you're not selling, I'll go somewhere else."
"$100 a bag." He leaned back with a smirk, knowing full well I couldn't pay that. "First one's free with a little quality time."
"No way in hell," I scoffed.
"I'm not a perv, just hang here with me for a little while, answer some questions, and I'll give you the bag for free, I'll even show you how to hit a line, unless you already learned that from your dad." I pushed away the thought, I wasn't like him, I was just going to take a little something so I didn't feel so crappy. Just this once.
"Fine," I conceded, plopping down on the couch next to him.
"First, why are you doing this?" He asked as he cut the lines with a credit card that probably had a limit high enough to purchase our house.
"Since when are you interested in my life, thought you didn't associate with Pogues."
"Only the boring ones. Plus, that was the deal sweetheart, coke for questions." He held out a rolled up $20, but pulled it back slightly when I reached for it. His eyebrow quirked, waiting for my answer.
"Because I'm lonely." I answered, taking the bill from him and quickly snorting the entire line.
My nose immediately burned and my hand flew up to cover it, feeling sure it would start bleeding at any moment.
"Here, it helps" Rafe offered me his glass of whiskey that I was fairly sure would only help by making me drunk, but at the moment that sounded great, so I accepted.
"Does your dad hit you?" He asked after I finished off the glass.
I poured more into the glass and drank some before I answered. "Yeah."
"Guess we have some things in common." I turned toward him in shock. "My dad's just as much of a dick, he just hides it better with money."
This time, I didn't bother to pour more into the glass, I just drank some from the bottle and passed it to him without a response.
"I'm sorry your friends treat you like shit." He passed the bottle back to me.
"I'm sorry your dad's a dick." I replied, taking another sip.
We sat in silence for a while, just passing the bottle back and forth. I wasn't really sure when I passed out, but when I woke up I was laying in a bed, under the covers. My head felt like it was going to explode before I even opened my eyes. I groaned, really regretting my idea to get drunk and high.
"Don't ask what's in it, just drink." I opened my eyes to see Rafe Cameron wearing only boxers and holding a very suspiciously colored liquid. I immediately looked down to see if I was still wearing clothes. "I told you I'm not a perv. I slept over there." He pointed to a window seat with lots of fluffy pillows and a blanket.
"Why are you being nice to me?" I asked, taking the cup from his hand.
"Because you're sad and lonely. It's not really fun to pick on people that are already sad and lonely." He smirked and I glared at him. "Drink." He tilted the cup towards my mouth and despite the lingering worry that he might be poisoning me, I drank.
"That's awful," I coughed after only a small sip.
"Well, thats why you shouldn't do drugs or drink underage."
"You supplied me with both."
"Only because you asked. Now you should finish that and then I'll drive you home." He turned and walked toward his closet.
I sipped some more of the awful drink and tried not to stare at him. Rafe Cameron, evil rich kook. Who also happened to be really attractive, athletic, and apparently even kind of nice.
"You know, you're pretty hot yourself." He said, turning around quickly and catching me staring. I ignored him and continued finishing the drink.
"Come on, I'll drive you home." He unceremoniously pulled the blankets off me and didn't even wait for me to answer before going to the door.
"You just want to rub this in JJ's face." I accused, despite following him out to his car.
He turned around so suddenly I didn't have time to stop so I just bumped into his chest.
"There are certain benefits, yes." He smirked and looked me up and down.
"You're dropping me at my house, not the Chateau." I demanded as I climbed into the passenger seat of his car.
"Fine."
"Fine," I shot back childishly causing him to laugh. It took me a few minutes to realize we were in fact going to the Chateau and not my house. "What the hell, Rafe?"
"Relax, I'll park down the street, but I'm not dropping you off to be alone with your dad."
"You're a lot less confusing when you're just being an asshole."
"Maybe you'll have to come back again." His tone was light, but he sounded like he meant it. "You actually aren't all that awful." HE parked and I sat frozen for a few moments.
"Thanks, Rafe." I said before opening the door and getting out. "You're not terrible, either." I added before closing the door and walking toward the Chateau. I couldn't help but peek over my shoulder one last time and to my surprise he was still parked in the same spot watching me walk off. I turned back around and smiled a little to myself.
A/N: This could become a full enemies to lovers if people want it. Edit: you did, so here is the link to part 2 and part 3

The Witch and The Beast Episode 2: The Witch's Pastime - Opening Act
Tumblr media
The first episode in proper of The Witch and The Beast aired today, and I must say it's left me a little confused about the whole production and approach. Some great work here, some not so great stuff, and a lot of unanswered questions. Of course, I'm a big fan of the manga so this is almost exclusively a conversation of visuals, but I think there's some interesting discussion to be had.
First off, the second episode has a new storyboarder and episode director. While the director is really not of much importance, Toshiyuki Sone is. They're not a very common storyboarder so I didn't have too much to expect out of their work, but admittedly, they've done a passable job with the content that they were given.
Sticking close to the manga in a lot of places, Sone's episode remains rather faithful to the manga. Some of their original ideas are great, as you can see below, but quite a bit of what they bring from the manga doesn't translate in the way they might have expected.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For example, the zoom sequences that are added in various parts produce low quality and poor detail, though you can't really tell because of Tumblr's pesky compression.
Tumblr media
If I were to explain the episode in broad terms, it's from someone that has some good ideas, but little confidence and experience within the role. There's potential, and there's some great work involved, but it's hampered by a lack of understanding in how to approach various challenges.
One such example being the challenge of Iijima's piss poor animation direction. The designs they've made are great up close and personal, but at a distance they're god awful, and can hardly even be considered consistent in any way shape or form. I'm really desperately hoping that they'll be relieved of their position as CAD at some point during this season, just so I can see what can be done beneath another person.
Something else that I'm curious about with this episode is the work in brighter scenes. It's really just not as good as darker layouts or anything that happens at night.
And it's hard to pin down because the line drawn between color design, composition, and art direction/background is hard to make in these spots. Whatever the case is, the scenes in bright daylight simply can't compare to the quality nighttime work. Thankfully a lot of The Witch and The Beast deals with darker sequences so it shouldn't be of too much concern.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And also since I mentioned it, I really do still like the color design and composition. The colors really do best when in more homogenous scenes, but the composition overall has been really great still, even adding a good deal of feeling to some sequences.
The only place that really has not shown any promise is the animation. There was a bit in the first episode, but nothing really to write home about here, and that's where the big question for me comes from.
We're yet to encounter a heavy episode in terms of content, so it's hard to gauge just how this production is faring. As my friend Blue would (most likely say) though, it's very typical of a Hamana production within our small frame of reference. He directs the first episode and brings with him a lot of previous staff members to round out the ranks behind this series.
Because of that, and because of the content of these early episodes and this "arc" (if you can call it that), it's hard to tell how things will go. Is Hamana padding the easy episodes out to save room for the more intense ones, is Sone's episode more limited because of the buildup within the arc, or is it just the limitations of the ability behind his boards and the work of the episode director?
There's a lot of blanks in terms of how this production operates still, so I'm hoping that within the next 2 or so episodes we'll get a better grasp as to just how good this series will be. Of course, I'm hoping it'll be good, but with Yokohama behind it it's hard to have much confidence in my words.

Since the new live action Avatar is apparently out on netflix, I figured now is an excellent time to remember the last attempt at a live action this series got.
Tumblr media
Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the most beloved TV shows of all time, with amazing writing, world-building, and characters. Conversely, The Last Airbender (no avatar in this title) is one of the most detested and worst movies of all time. I doubt that I have anything new to say about it because it has been getting dragged since it was released 14 years ago, but that won't stop me from dragging it some more.
As is the trend with many live action reboots, this movie hates fun. The original show was colorful, funny, and charming; the movie is none of those things. The color palette seems to have been taken directly from a Saw movie, with not a warm tone to be found. For comparisons sake, here's a side by side of the gaang from the movie and from the original:
Tumblr media
Isn't it incredible how they managed to sap all the color out of the original character designs?
One of my favorite things about the original cartoon was the expressive animation. I don't expect a live action movie to have expressive animation, but I do expect expressive acting, or even just regular acting. Unfortunately for myself and the world at large, the main actors did not get the memo that they were supposed to do that, so instead they delivered their dialogue stone faced with weird pacing. I don't want to hate on the actors too much, as many of them were children when this movie was released, and who knows what sort of direction M. Night Shyamalan gave them. However, I will say that with maybe the exception of Dev Patel, who played an okay Zuko, the cast did an awful job of capturing the magic of the original characters. I am willing to give a pass to Seychelle Gabriel, because she voiced Asami in The Legend of Korra, and I am nothing if not an Asami supporter. But the rest of the cast is on very thin ice.
Another fun thing about this god-forsaken movie is the way it manages to make the viewer feel incredibly uncomfortable. It has an aura about it that I can only describe as constipated. The feeling I got watching is reminiscent of the time I was roped into listening a coworker at McDonalds talk about his crypto scheme, except that only lasted about 15 minutes, and the movie is 103 minutes long.
Truly the only good quality of the movie is its ability to bring together so many people in hatred. There aren’t too many things we can all form a near-universal opinion on, but we can all agree that this movie is a dumpster fire.
Unlike some of the other movies I have hated on this blog, I don’t think it is controversial for me to hate this one. It has already been so thoroughly hated on that all the points I make here are hardly likely to be original. Regardless, I felt it necessary to kick this dead horse, both for the opportunity to complain (one of my favorite activities), and because I need to choose one movie to hate per week for the class this blog is for, and this one is so so hateable. I didn't even list everything wrong with it and this post is already so long.
I haven't watched the new live action show yet, and I don't really have high hopes, but given how low the bar is, it would have to limbo into hell to disappoint me.

The Orion's Daughter : To Lands Beyond | Chapter Two : Words Cobbled with Stone
**~~~~~**
Chapter Two | Words Cobbled with Stone
**~~~~~**
I ran as fast as I could through the cobbled stone streets, past the shops, and practically leapt through the door as two other female patrons were leaving.
“Sorry!” I called after them, to which the two mothers with children on their hips began muttering about unruly behavior.
Rude.
Anyway! Moving on!
I scurried to the counter past the beautiful array of dried flowers and rocks cracked open to reveal veins of nameless color. The smell alone had me hypnotized the moment I stepped into the stone building.
“Kendel?” I called, poking my head up over the counter to spot the middle-aged man trimming an aloe plant by the back of the counter. His smile had a youthful vigor to it and his eyes, hidden slightly by a pair of oval spectacles that perched on the edge of his nose, had a way of twinkling like geodes.
Yes.
I liked this place.
Unlike some of the other adults here in Creewood, Kendel didn’t care about my background. He never got that look in his eye like the others did when they saw me.
“Well, sprout, good ‘te see ye’,” he said, his odd accent giving him a twang of charm. I smiled, liking the way he called me sprout. “Wha’ brings ye’ in t’day?” He continued scraping the aloe from the plant into a thick, clear glass jar. The goopy, clear liquid plopped into the jar with a satisfying *thunk*.
“Trading some herbs and stones,” I said, hoisting my bag onto the counter. “And, if I’m lucky, I won’t miss a lot of story time at the school.”
“Ah! I see! Well, sprout, I’ll not keep ye’ long. Just le’ me nip ‘en tuck this right ‘ere. Now, what’ll ye’ ‘ave for me?”
I wasted no time in pulling out all of the things momma gave to me, and Kendel’s eyes widened when he saw some of those items.
“Oh, dis ‘ere is some quality product,” he smiled. “Le’ me fetch some coin.”
“Thank you,” I replied, suddenly remembering some of the things I collected. “Oh! Wait! I found a few things here too.”
Kendel’s soft green eyes latched onto my satchel as I pulled out the few stones and flowers I harvested.
“Oh! Mighty treasures indeed,” said Kendel as he gingerly took the stone from my hand and examined it, brushing back the few wisps of brown-white hair from his face that were not latched into his low ponytail. “Well, I’ll take the stones from ye’, but ye’ ought ‘ter keep those plants. Wood sorrel is good for cuts an’ scrapes. So is tha’ yarrow.”
I stared at the plants in my hand in awe. I learned something new! This was shaping up to be a great day.
Kendel gave me a sack of assorted coins, which I made sure to count like momma taught me, and waved good-bye before leaving the shop and heading back into the open air outside. The smell of fresh bread wafted through the air as did the scents of flowers and roasting meat. It was an odd combination, but it would have to wait.
I had places to go to.
As fast as I could, I raced toward the schoolhouse, toes burning on the sunbaked cobbled stones, so I could hear story time.
As I ran, I could feel the eyes of some of the townsfolk on me. They probably suspected where I was going, and I sensed their disapproval. I glimpsed a few of them shaking their heads. It made me angry and sad all at the same time.
Why?
Why did they have to treat me like that? I haven’t done anything to them. It’s like they’re mad I’m here – alive.
“There she is again, tearing through town like that. You’d think her mother would teach her that a lady isn’t supposed to run, especially in a skirt,” said one snobbish looking woman as I ran past.
Water on stone. Beat me to the bone. Your words run right over me.
It was something momma taught me to say.
Sad…
It used to make me feel better all of the time. Now, it is only some of the time.
I ran all the way up to the school, choosing to not let it bother me, and crouched low so that the teacher and other students didn’t see me under the windows. They’d close the windows if they saw me coming.
Closer and closer, I crept until I made it all the way to the tree that gave shade and cover. I ducked low, hoping my auburn curls didn’t give me away, and nestled down under the window to hear Mr. Lowran read.
“Chapter one, The Knight. None saw the darkness arise, but only one rose to fight it – The Knight,” read Mr. Lowran. I have heard this story probably a dozen times before, but it didn’t stop me from absorbing every word. While the boys in the school were supposed to do their work while these stories were read aloud, I made sure to make my assignment to memorize every story from front to finish.
I couldn’t read, at least not very much, and these stories spoken into the air were all I could cling to. I wished more than anything I could sit in there with them, but rules were rules – even if they were stupid. Have enough money for a tutor or be a boy.
Stupid.
Dumb.
I didn’t want to change who I was. I just wanted to go to school. I just wanted to learn. Was that such a crime?
I mouthed the words as they dispersed through the air.
“- and with a mighty swing of his sword, he cut down the wicked king. Even as the malevolent ruler drew in his last breath, The Knight felt pity. The king was slain not of malice, but of righteous justice, and The Knight was the sword. Should any other do such a thing, it would be revenge, which was wrong. Only one pure of heart could accomplish such a task and restore peace – and that was the soul of The Knight.”
I wanted to be that knight. I wanted to venture to far off lands, test my courage and strength, and then move onto the next adventure. Sadly, only boys could be knights. I could be a guard, but that wasn’t the same. It didn’t have the same ring to it.
If only.
I listened all the way to the end of the story before I listened to the bells chime their familiar song.
School was out, and I had definitely stayed too long. It was a constant battle.
Did I stay?
Or did I go?
If any of the boys saw me, I needed to leave.
If they didn’t see me, I needed to wait.
Sadly, the only way to know was to leave my spot under the shady tree – my sanctuary of stories and knowledge. I took the chance. At any rate, I was faster at running and grass sprints than any of the boys in Creewood.
I poked my head out from behind the bushes and glanced to one side and then the next.
Nothing.
Good.
I crept out, my skirt rustling behind me and tugging at what felt like every branch behind me and stepped out onto the main road.
I felt a breath of relief escape me. I was going to be alright today.
I barely made it to the corner when I heard them.
“Hey Illy! We thought we saw you lurking outside the window.”
I didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. Jul and his group of thugs.
My insides lurched and, all at once, I felt sick. I made it three steps before the other two emerged from the nearby alley.
“Hey Illy!”
“What were you doing at story time, Illy?”
“Didn’t your dad teach you it is rude to lurk under windows? Oh wait… of course not – Illy.”
My throat tightened. Every impulse in my body screamed to run, but I reacted too late. I was surrounded – encased by their taunts, and there was no good way out.
Not even momma’s phrase about stones and words would have helped me now.

Big Screen Building Stratford Tower exploration and commentary
⚠️ Tumblr got a limit of images u can use, so i'll separate in 3 MAIN parts: Ground Floor, Floor 47 and Floor 79
⚠️ I'm playing on low setting cuz that's what i got for today. Be aware the quality is AWFUL
》 GROUND FLOOR
➣ OUTSIDE
First of all lets observe the surroundings
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really don't know the irl place they took inspiration from, probably around Greektown or Bricktown area. Wiki says it must be around there too (u can look on the holographic map from Crossroads).
➣ PLAZA
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
U can enter this building directly from the subway station. Same old scheme of stairs for humans and for androids bs.
Tumblr media
Careful cuz they got 'em eyes on ya 👀 (i bet is AI controlled cuz mfs are so fucking LAZY in this game)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something i wanted to point out is how we got some details about temperature in this game. We just got the whole weather forecast week in here (probably in Fº ofc cuz States always being diferentões).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some few more details bout the entrance. Nothing that WOW, just some folks having a chat and plants, LOTTA PLANTS - cuz we need PLANTS and golden colors. Also this weird movie poster "After Mankind 3021" here again. Probably a reference to movies where the machines take over the world or humans themselves becoming "machines" cuz the wall between bio and non-bio got weaker, or maybe aliens disguised as humans 👀
Now on the inside...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pretty chill, ain't it? These spaces in both sides of the room, really a commercial building vibes. Now take a look in this shit here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For some reason i couldn't find any entrance in this "second" floor, i guess the only way of accessing is really by the subway? Idk. No idea what's behind that door but u can see where the elevator is.
Tumblr media
Didn't find any details like this projector manufacturer or anything, it's the average hologram thing highlithing important places. I wonder if anyone can see the floors information, idk, maybe when really close or interacting with it or if it's something from Markus optics.
Some things to list 👀:
They got the fatest elevators in all Detroit - 30 mph (or 48 km/h);
Biggest screen in Detroit - 1000 square foot (basically 93 m2);
Main Entrance: Connection to transport and street;
Floor 10~30: C16 Advertising and Sales;
Floor 31~46: Business and Legal;
Floor 47~50: Channel 16 Studios - Detroit's local news network;
Floor 79: Broadcast Center - Feeds ALL public screens in Detroit;
Now some more details about our girl Elizabeth and her shit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Old news but i guess all employees would have something like that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(rough edit cuz the gui and the images are separate textures)
The computer screen details. Undestable why Markus gotta distract this woman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Markus ID. I wonder who's the unfortunate guy that got blamed by the infiltration xD, they'll probably arrest Mr. Peterson too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The south elevator. Rules is clear: if there's a south means a north exists. Where? I don't fucking know.
Tumblr media

How do you get your gifts to be such a good quality? Whenever I try to make my own they always turn up low quality and pixelated 😭
Wow thank you so much, it means a lot <3 and no worries, I've been there too so I know that in the beginning it can be frustrating.
Here are some tips, hopefully they make sense :)
I think the best advice I can give you is to use at least 1080p video files for making gifs (I use only 1080p). There are gifmakers who gif in 4k for even better quality but my weak laptop would burn down if i did this lol. The file size is also important, my hotd episodes range from 4GB - 8GB.
It also depends on the scene alone you want to gif. Dark scenes are a pain in the ass. The more adjusting layers you add, the more grainy your gif becomes/the quality lowers (for hotd/got gifs especially). Scenes in broad daylight are so much easier to work with. You can see the difference in these two sets I made for Helaena and Alicent. In Helaena's case I experimented more with brightness and removing that awful yellow filter and it resulted in grainy quality. Meanwhile, Alicent's scenes are way smoother. I mostly played with selective color layer and reduced blue filter.
Use smart sharpen for sharpening your gif before any editing. If it helps here are my settings. Firstly, set amount to 500% and radius to 0.4px. Then, amount to 10% and radius to 10px.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not going into details regarding adjustment layers, you have to try and decide what best works for you. For me, I always go Curves > Levels > Exposure > Brightness/Contrast > Color Balance > sometimes Gradient map > Selective color > Vibrance.
The last thing I do before saving the final gif is to set it to Noise and quality to Bicubic Smoother (hightlighted in red)
Tumblr media
Well, I think that's all. I know that for the beginner gifmaker it can be a lot but trust me with practice you'll get your gifs in the quality you desire. Happy gifmaking!!

4004 B.C. (Sometime After the Beginning)
It was familiar to move closer to another beneath the protective shade of a wing, but it was unusual to look up and see the pure whiteness of the feathers that had an almost translucent quality in the cloud-smudged sunlight.
A strange upwelling of emotion passed through Crawley, and the demon put thin arms around shivering shoulders, black wings folded tightly, remembering that those sheltering wings had been white once too.
“Are you all right?”
“Yeah, fine,” Crawley muttered, straightening up. embarrassed that the angel had noticed. “Totally fine, absolutely fantastic. Just...never seen water falling from the sky. Cinders and fire, sure. But water? That’s new and exciting.”
“Cinders and fire. That seems awful,” Aziraphale said, his voice full of concern.
“Eh, it’s just what it is. Erm, Downstairs. So. Er. Ahem. I didn’t...didn’t know it could fall from the sky. Water, that is.”
“This new creation is full of surprises,” Aziraphale agreed. “After all with water I had always assumed that it stayed on the ground, as in rivers. Or cycles through living beings as it does with the humans and the plants and the animals.” Aziraphale shifted the arc of his wing as the wind shifted, tilting feathers so that the rain that now blew sideways did not touch Crowley.
“But aren’t you getting wet, Angel?”
“It’s Aziraphale. And no, the water doesn’t touch me,” Aziraphale smiled. “An attribute of the Heavenly influence, I suppose.”
“Must be nice.” Crawley glanced down where white feathers didn’t quite shield the demon from the rain. The long trailing hem of the black robes hung strangely and Crawley made a face when the wet, soggy edge slapped against a bare leg.
“It is. Quite nice, actually.” The angel’s smile was beatific, and even through the storm that arced lightning across the sky, the pale curly locks stayed dry and then Crawley caught a glimpse of the angel’s eyes.
Dark, the color of storm clouds – no, of rich damp earth, the kind that could be found throughout Eden but especially besides the great rivers, soft and yielding, mysterious and full of the potential for life even as cool clear water flowed beside it, lapping at its banks unceasing and unthinking.
There was a faint tension in those eyes, a sadness and a politeness that made Crawley realize the angel’s smile was completely false.
“I should go,” Crawley said, but didn’t move. Lightning flashed blue-white bright and for a brief moment Crawley closed golden eyes, remembering the white-hot fall of cinders all about and the protective shade of jet black feathers that were so dark that it seemed no light could escape from them…
“Yes, I suppose I should as well,” Aziraphale said, but didn’t move. The angel glanced at the demon, a slouching slumped miserable thing just out of reach, huddled in the shelter that only an angel’s wing could provide. Pitiful, Aziraphale thought, merely an ordinary low-ranked demon and one not even properly armed against a Cherubim; no flaming sword, not even some additional powers to gain an advantage. “But oh look, is it just me or is there something about the ground that is changing because of the water?”
“...eh, I don’t know.” Crawley peered over the great wall of Eden.
“Erm, does it look a bit like the ground is not quite the same color it was before?”
“Well, sure,” Crawley said. “Obviously the soil changes color when you get it wet. Just like clothes.”
“I wouldn’t know, I’ve never been wet.” But upon noticing the demon’s expression change, Aziraphale quickly spoke, “...but it does sound intriguing, this state of wetness. Please, do tell me more about it?”
Crawley glanced over at the angel, curious, and then realizing that this was all to spin out the conversation longer so that they didn’t have to immediately go their separate ways. Looking at the shifting wind that blew the rain here and there, the demon scowled but there was no actual annoyance in that scowl so much as it was the scowl of thinking.
“Erm, well? Well! It’s uh, er. Wet? You know how...if you see blades of grass that in the early morning are damp with dew, and the little clear water droplets cling to the green but then the green leaves get all stuck together sometimes? Well, when things like this are wet...” – and here, Crawley touched the hem of a long black sleeve – “they stick unpleasantly to skin in a temperature unbalancing way. It doesn’t bother me too much but I can tell that my skin doesn’t like sudden sharp temperature changes. And-”
The wind picked up and with it, the rain, which was now blowing in from at least two directions, and without thinking, Aziraphale closed both wings around them, cocooning them in a veil of white.
Crawley gasped, and backed up until trembling black feathers bumped into the angel’s feathers.
“What are you doing?!” the demon hissed.
“Just shielding us from the rain. If you don’t like it-” And Aziraphale quickly parted his wings a bit. At the immediate sight of an opening toward the outside world, the demon slipped out from the curtain of feathers and in a flash of black feathers, flew off, disappearing into the dark shaded trees of Eden.
“...oh. I suppose he didn’t like it,” Aziraphale mused, feeling strangely disappointed.

hello! hope you are well! this might be a little weird but i noticed you made such great 540x gifs from low quality footage at zaalima. i am not really a giffer but my fave film doesn't have any content on tumblr thus i wanted to try my hand at making gifs. do you have any advice on how to make 540x gifs that look good from low quality footage? thanks in advance!
Aw, thank you! 💓
Honestly my main trick for making low-res footage look better is to duplicate the gif after sharpening, use Gaussian Blur at 1.5 and then set the opacity to 45%.
Tumblr media
The blur adds a soft glow and smooths out the rough edges that sharpening gives 720p- footage:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also coloring can affect the quality. I find that "natural" coloring works best, where vibrant colors tend to bring out the crunchy pixels. See here how it's more noticeable, especially in the background:
Tumblr media
(this is just personal preference of course, color however you wish!)
In terms of gif size, 540x300 looks the best but you can get away with 540x360 too (like I have here)
Anyways, that's all I do with low-res footage. Hope it helps! Have fun gifing😊

LITG S2 Colour Seasons
Summers (cool)
Lottie: Light Summer (we can see this executed perfectly in her hair dye options, and her lipstick. However black is too strong for her, it makes her a bit yellow-ish, but that just makes her "pop" more, which adds to the Gothic style)
Gary: True Summer (his hair is so yellow aka springy, his skin is so pink and purple, an his eyes are a vibrant bright blue... unrealistic design but I did my best to translate him to real life)
Bobby: Muted Summer (cool-neutral. The neutral tones come in with his season being a neighbor to soft autumn, he as some warmth but leans cool overall, and has an olive tone, low contrast)
Henrik: Light Summer
Arjun: Muted summer (his hair also has ashy tones)
Winters (cool)
Marisol: Deep Winter
Hope: Bright Winter (each color of her makeup actually compliments her, but it's just too many all at once)
Lucas: Clear winter (icey pastels King)
Carl: Clear Winter
Kassam: Bright Winter
Winters are easiest to spot for me,very distinct from the other seasons in thier electric and dramatic colours.
Autumn's (warm)
Priya: Deep Autumn (warm-neutral. Anything deep and rich. She can wear gold best, followed by rose gold- a deep autumn specialty, and even silver is it's not a very cold type)
Blake: Soft autumn (warm, low contrast, and can wear gold mainly, copper, metals and silver If they're brushed or patina finished. Her hair is a bit intense, so maybe she has a bit more warmth that leads her into true autumn...)
Noah: Deep Autumn- true neutral (I've struggled with him, true neutrals are rare irl, but based on the fact that he's rich, and can wear neutrals and navy like no on else I've settled on this or now.. he just has so much red undertones but also has medium contrast.. im not 100% satisfied, so any input would be appreciated)
Rocco: True Autumn
Elijah: Deep autumn (I don't have a quality screenshotnof him so this isn't confident, but he's warm-neutral, low contrast, and muted)
Springs (warm)
Hannah: Warm Spring
Chelsea: Light spring (her natural tan is very springy)
Jo: Soft Spring (neighboring the summer season, she has some coolness)
Shannon: Warm Spring
Rahim: Clear Spring (warm and bright, and he so happens to be blessed to wear violet... love that for him)
Elisa: Light Spring
Felix: Light Spring (he's wearing mostly summery colours, maybe to accommodate his dyed hair?)
Jakub: True Spring
Graham: True Spring (hes bright and his hair is warm.. I considered True Autumn.. do we really care about him? lol)
OK, my theory is that there are so many springs in litg because these colours are juicy, fresh, trendy, bright and eye catching. Which is perfect in a summery, hot setting like the villa.
In the colour season theory, things like overtone (freckles, tanning VS burning, and blushing, eye colour) aren't indicators of a specific season, however they can give clues to a person's place on the dial within thier base season: Soft, bright, true, Muted, deep, clear.
This art style doesn't add eye texture or patterns-probably due to size, space and distance-but those are the best tell-tale of someone's season, so obviously I couldn't work with that.
Anyways, it was fun to do this, I find it interesting how some characters don't always wear their best colours, just like real people :) overall, thier chosen clothes give insight into thier personalities! I'd love any feedback or corrections from anyone who's also into this x
This is so, so good! I'm in awe, anon 🤍
Absolutely loved reading the analysis for the different characters, and I'm definitely trusting your judgement on this one. For people not familiar with all this, here's a reference photo for you. It doesn't match the categories you mentioned perfectly, but I think it's close enough:
Tumblr media
Noah is definitely tricky, as he does wear deep blues and neutrals and warm colours well (at least in my mind). We love complex characters though, even if it's "just" about colours 😌 My ideal colours for him are definitely these, but I'm not sure which category they fit in:

It's been a long day for a lot of reasons, and a long couple weeks for every more reasons. Guess I decided to vent it all into my take on a creepy pasta.
TW: FIRE, DEATH IMAGERY
I've always loved pokemon. Course I have, it's a massive franchise. Probably will be one of the biggest in the world some day, even with only a few games out.
Smoldering Silver
I don't really remember a lot--it's never really been a bother, though. I just go to school, forget it, and come home to play pokemon. Nothing else really matters. It's almost nice--every playthrough is fresh.
I know I've played red and blue to heck and back--but I do own silver, too.
I've been meaning to play it. Maybe I have. Doesnt really matter.
I decide to pop it in the old Gameboy one school day, sitting in my dirty room on my bed. It's very warm out today, even inside, but what're you gonna do.
I turn it on, excited, faintly surprised to see no save file. Maybe I keep forgetting to play it. Whoops.
Oh well! New adventure starts now.
Professor Oak talks to me, tells me my name is Red, which is a little odd--isn't that the red and blue protagonist? Maybe they brought him back for a new adventure. That's fun. I liked Red.
I never liked Blue, though. He was always mean to red. I didn't get it. It made me scared.
Oak goes to release me on my journey, before the game seems to freeze, audio pausing.
Eh? Did the game freeze already? I know red and blue were kinda funky sometimes, but--
The Gameboy let's out a horrific scream, a human scream, and I jump as Oaks face seems to melt--
I panic turn off the Gameboy, heart racing. What the heck?-
I stare at the dead screen, confused and scared, but so unbearably curious at the same time. That's not normal, I know that.
I slowly turn the Gameboy back on.
No intro plays--the game boots up, and reds sprite is standing in a new town, a town I don't recognize, but that's not super surprising.
I amble up to the biggest house in town, a nice tune playing. There's a different sprite staring into the side of the building. Oh, like the guy outside my window! Okay.
I walk into the big building, and get to choose a pokemon! Exciting!
The choices are new and different, especially considering I've apparently never played this, so this'll be cool.
I've never liked fire types, though.
I go with Chikorita. Silly little guy.
I accidentally forget to name them, but when I go to examine my new friend, they already have a name.
Chrysanthemums? That's a big word I don't know. It's silly. I'll call her Chrys.
I walk outside the lab after being told something or other, I dunno, it doesn't really matter.
The man in the window is still there, and I look at his sprite a little more closely.
It's all monochrome, so colors are a little weird, but they seemed "tall", with a yellow hat and beige clothes, something covering their face, and in the low quality pixels, it's hard to tell what they're holding in their hands, but it's long and straight.
Huh. Thats a funny character design.
I take Chrys and go out onto the first route! I destroy some silly rats and birds, considering I have no pokeballs, but that's okay.
The first town I enter seems normal. I heal up, I talk to an old man, but his dialogue is kinda weird.
"I don't think they meant it to go this far."
What?
Man, my game is corrupted as heck, isn't it? I wonder what happened.
Oh, well, the battling seems to be working, so I quickly get distracted again. Away I go.
Up to the house I guess I was supposed to go to, woah, egg?? I have egg. Egg is exciting, and I guess the guy who gave me Chrys wants it. Cool!
I walk back to the second town-- no one is around. It's weird--I thought npcs had just been around? Eh. Memory probably is wrong again. Silly me.
I walk back to the first town. I haven't encountered any trainers yet. I wonder why.
I go to cross the line into the first town--
The game crashes.
Aw, cmon! I haven't saved. I debate just giving up right then and going back to my actually working games, but something urges me on.
I sigh and restart the game. Again. Man, this game is worse than the silly missingnos.
I load back in--oh, it...saved on its own? But wait, where am I?
I'm in a completely new town. What?
I check my pokemon--Chrys has, apparently, evolved, into a long necked flower dinosaur. It's almost giving me a sad look.
It's level 39.
What kinda memory black outs am I having? I was just...okay. this is weird.
The town is large, with a railway track running through the middle of it.
I must've gotten badges to get this far, right? I check my trainer card.
I have 3 badges, now. But my trainer doesn't look like Red...they're familiar, in a way. Long ish hair, a dirt smudged face, a strange look on their smiling face, hatless, almost vacant yet carefree.
Their name is Nina.
Huh. More corrupted cartridge nonsense, I guess.
All the npcs in town are wearing all black. It seems to be raining. None of them talk to me--I can't interact with them at all.
Okay. Uhm.
I walk north for a while, before walking through a transition tunnel.
It's a lovely park, and I think the music should be peaceful and soothing, but it's distorted into sadness, somber and...disturbing.
My skin prickles with uncomfortable goosebumps, and I continue forward.
There's a large gathering of npcs, all wearing the same black in the now pouring rain, the pixels blocking the screen solidly.
I walk up to them, but they don't move. They don't talk. They don't do...anything.
This is stupid. I just wanna play some pokemon. Why is it all creepy and sad?
I accidentally press forward--and can step through the npcs.
Oh, what? I'm the invisible man!
I walk forward to the two pixels their surrounding--a brown pixel and a grey one.
I can't move over the brown one, but I can interact with the grey pixel.
NINA GREY HAWKINS
DEC 7 1992
NOV 22 1999
I stare at the Gameboy picture of a gravestone.
A face stares back at me.
My face.
My tomb.
The heat gets worse and worse and I look up as the room fills with smoke and ash, I can hear screaming, at the window is a man with a strange protective helmet, a gas mask and heavy clothes, an axe shattering my window.
I scream, and he shouts something at me as the entire house rumbles.
I run to him--
--
I've always loved Pokemon.

Hey how are you? I love your style. I was planning on starting commissions some day. So I came here to ask to one of my favourite artists what advice do they have on commissions? Is there actually mistakes that I could commit or is there a certain path to follow? Thank you! Have a great weekend, and keep creating your art is awesome!!! 💗
OMG Hi!! First of all Thank you so so much for your kind words ❤️❤️ Here it goes:
The most important is to always ask for some of the payment upfront (Usually it's 50%), cause you never know who are you dealing with. And even when you finish the job, I usually always send the client low quality files until I get paid the full amount. It sounds awful talking about money first but let's be honest, that the reason we artist open comms in the first place hahah You can trust the people that request you (I myself never had a bad experience with a client and had dealt with truly lovely people) but it's important to alway be a bit careful.
Write yourself a list of conditions you find necessary to send the client when you agree on drawing their request. If it helps, mine is explaining the process to the client, half the payment upfront, my paying methods, how many unpaid changes they can ask for and how much do I charge per change after... These type of things.
Don't rush yourself too much. Unless the client give you a specific deadline, people are usually patient. I understood that after stressing with several comms in my first times hahah Even so, I try to keep in touch and update them from time to time, just to reassure them I didn't forget about it, just busy.
When I'm drawing a com, I usually send the customers every crucial part of the process, I think it's important for them to take part in the decision making of every step. I usually send them the first sketch (With only the idea, to see if we agree), the final sketch (that's usually when they get to do their modifications), the line art, the flat colors (To see if they like the palette) and the final version. That works for my style, but you decide which step seems important enough to update it to them depending on your own working process and technique.
Try not to underestimate your work when pricing. If you're not in a desperate need for money, value your art for what it's worth. It's easier said than done, and I know that most artists don't do it cause they want to, but because they have no choice; but me myself I try not to price too low my work, and even tho I got a lot of rejections because of it, I end up getting enough clients to keep opening comms from time to time and not giving up.
Find which social media is best for you to get attention and find clients. I personally recommend reddit, but every artist has their own experience and preferences.
I know it sounds obvious but always be kind. Not all clients'll respond with the same affections, but in my experience, when they do, it makes the job so much easier and fun. And you might even get yourself a regular customer.
Ok I got so carried away writing this!! I don't get that many questions here on tumblr and I was so excited fr, sorry in advance hahahah
Hope this helps you! Those are all my opinions and experiences, you'll have your own soon enough. I wish you the best of luck with your commissions!!! And have a fantastic weekend too ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi! Your art is absolutely gorgeous and I loved that Paint With Me video!
I'm also a digital artist and have also gotten an anon ask like that saying they were convinced I was an AI :/ Even though I've literally made a long post about my process which included ugly WIP pics but oh well
Anyway, my point with sending this was mainly to just send you good vibes, and say I hope you don't let comments like that bother you too much, and tell you, as a fellow artist with a very similar style and process, how beautiful and inspirational your art is ;u;
Seriously the colors, the rough brush strokes, the mood, it's all I always want my own art to be like but only sometimes succeed at... I think one thing that makes a big difference, which I've been trying to be more conscious of lately, is the choice of references. Sometimes I just choose pics because I wanna draw the subject in them but don't think so much about the harmony of the colors involved or the lighting or the compositon etc etc and then it's only when I'm like 70% through the drawing that I start noticing how underwhelming it is compared to what it could have been like but at that point it's too late to make such drastic changes so I just end up frustrated and disappointed.
And that's all stuff that could have been avoided by choosing a better ref in the first place and I think you always nail that you know? Like I never have any pre established interest in the subjects you draw but the art is so beautiful on its own if that makes sense, I really love it. And I also love how loose you're able to keep your brushstrokes by having a lower res ref so you can't see too much detail. I struggle with that sometimes.. either I work with a low quality pic to keep the drawing rough or I have a better quality ref so I can draw some nice details in the features, but then I overdo it by adding too much detail anyway. So having the multiple versions of the ref for different purposes makes a lot of sense and I was actually just thinking about that today XD
Anyway uh this got a lot longer than I meant it to, sorry for the rambling, but yeah really love your art and your style and your process!!
Aw, thanks so much for writing in, dear anon!!! My blood is always boiling whenever someone accuses me of using AI. 🤣 I get those comments a lot on Instagram especially.
I get that issue sometimes too when the piece just feels underwhelming. But I usually just push thru and it's all about the experience. Sometimes we get to learn new things during the process even tho the end result isn't what we expected.
You should totally try to have a lower resolution version of your reference. It's helped me a lot and also stopped me from over-rendering which I am sometimes guilty of. 😆
Also, I bet your art is really cool and you're so kind. If you don't mind, you could private message me your account so I can give you a follow!!😇 No pressure, of course!

(Content warning: drugging, second person POV)
7 a.m. classes suuuuuuuck.
Trying to ignore your bad life decisions, you focus on just looking around at the people already waiting for class alongside you. No one too fancy, no one who stands up too much.
With one exception.
Fluffy, long black hair, preppy shirt and skirt in low-key, cozy colors. Such a perfect girl next door vibe, it feels unreal.
And then it becomes unreal in a different way, as she holds a beaker to her face, swirls it around a bit, seems unhappy with it, puts it to the side, grabs a mortar and begins to energetically pestle something in it.
“I’m sorry. What are you doing?”
“Chemistry.” She answers, with the specific tone of voice that carries a hidden ‘obviously’. “I really need to get this done, so I’m prepping some things before the teacher stops by. My name is Medeia, by the way. Since you kindly asked.”
Oh. You never talked to her, but you’re pretty sure you saw her running all over the place through the previous year. She joined a couple semesters after you did, most likely, but already had quite the reputation. “You’re that magician girl.”
“Potion maker, not magician. The distinction is meaningless, but it matters to me.” She stresses, like you know a single thing she is talking about.
At that point, the professor arrives, and she openly leaves it clear she’ll apply full focus to that. Eh, so be it.
—----------
“Why bother with doing that? Isn’t magic bullshit worthless?”
“As I so kindly keep telling you, and you so kindly keep ignoring, it is not magic. Just potions.” She reaffirms. “And I find your ignorance very interesting when, amongst others such students, one of your underclassmen is a recently shifted werewolf, just as an immediate example.”
“There is one of those here? Gross. Not like that interests me, so I don’t bother to learn about it.”
The girl’s eyebrow raises inquisitively in response to that. “I’m sorry. What major are you doing again?”
“P.R.”
“Ah. Figures. Don’t worry, I’m sure you'll sell yourself off real quick.” She snarks, before opening her bag, picking a small sachet of some mysterious powder, and letting the substance fall into her water bottle. “You should be careful. Ignorance opens many blind spots. Before long, one of them will make use of your confidence in a way you’ll be lucky to live to regret.”
“Is that a threat?”
“It is a warning.”
“Hum. Perhaps if you try to teach me what I’m mi-”
“I have a girlfriend.” She said, shutting down your move with zero hesitation. Tsk. Boring girl. What was up with that holier than thou attitude.
“Of fucking course you do. Well, the faeric shit you seem to like was trouble for my grandma’s time not today. We’re the ones to rule the world nowadays.” She hums while shaking her bottle, leaving it clear she has no interest in the topic. “What are you even doing, anyway? Love potion? Mercury? Magic acid?”
“Lemonade. Non alcoholic. Just water and lemon juice powder.”
You blink. “That’s it?”
“I'm thirsty. The fact I know a thing or two of alchemy does increase my appreciation of it, though. The mundane strengthens the awe of the fantastical, and that inspires the beauty of the former. One way or another, the more you know, the better you see the dangers in both.” She matter of factly answered, taking a sip with joy. “Hum, I should add an extra pinch of sugar next time. Maybe make it from scratch and figure out how to add honey.”

Your mouth is salty.
You try to soothe it with some more beer, but it only makes it worse, somehow. Something is wrong. Something is… weird.
You get up from the bar’s table and wobble your way out. The music and cheering feel like howls to your throbbing head, specters hovering around you while you’re unable to make out any distinguishing qualities. Eventually, you’re out on the street, with the cacophony of the party replaced by the all encompassing madness of the moonlight.
The car… I gotta get to my car.
Each step feels heavier and more unstable, as if your blood had turned into pure lead. You turn a corner, then another, unsure of your directions, until you can determine two things.
This street is deserted.
There is someone here.
Your body gives up on sustaining itself, falling to the ground. You probably should be worried about how you felt no pain at all from the impact, but that comes as a relief right now.
… Hrgh… red.
Looking ever slightly forward, struggling to keep your eyes open as the trail of color goes on, you see someone in front of you. You can't really make any characteristics, but the person's mouth is wide open.
You must be dreaming. No one has teeth that sharp and sparkly white, is all you can think of as it leans towards you.
"Back off!"
A brown object swings towards the mystery person, and you can't quite make sure if it hit or not. You think you see something thrown in its direction, and before long some girl kneels by your side.
"O- ourse- you." Your ears fail you. You're so sleepy… "Drink- ow."
Something is pressed to your lips, reminding you that it still feels like pure salt is coating your tongue. Unable to resist, you open wide and begin drinking.
It's sweet. So delightfully, amazingly sweet. Somehow, all you felt these last couple minutes of pain fade away, shifting into a pleasant dream.
Yes… you can fall asleep, finally… So thick and syrupy… like honey…
—-------
You wake up the next day on your dorm's couch.
Jerks. Might as well have tossed you on your bed.
You react with confusion over your flatmates' tease about your latest fling, and the fact you think your headache isn't as bad as it should be. Your face feels itchy too. Are those scratch marks and bandaids? What the hell went on-
Reaching for your pocket, you feel something in it which most certainly wasn't there before. Taking it out, you see a paper napkin in which, alongside a phone number, was scribed:
Medeia Camille
Potion Maker and student, here for your needs.
You open your bedside table's drawer and throw the paper in, memories of a night that never happened beating from behind a curtain of wood.
