trope i'd like to see more? mmmmm being stuck with a giant while they're still in feral mode. the most pressing danger is over, but the larger doesn't recognize that. in fact, they're solely focused on you. being cradled to a chest with a clawed hand. held precariously between two fingers and inspected for injuries, pinned under the gaze of two massive, clouded eyes. trying to sneak away only to be met with a sharp, booming growl. all that stuff.
maybe some progress is made, and you're able to walk away long enough to retrieve some supplies, pretending like you don't hear a whine echoing behind you. coming back, and whatever new materials you have being sniffed curiously, cautiously. eventually, you settle down. neither of you are sleeping tonight. not the giant, clutching you to their chest or neck, ready to pounce at anything that so much as twitches towards you. certainly not you, flight-or-fight still roaring, both from the altercation and the presence of this behemoth. you can only pray the lucid, reasonable person you knew soon returns. but...
in the meantime, it is kind of nice to be cradled to a massive, warm chest. to know, like your own name, that anything that tries to harm you wouldn't be around to do so much longer.

Yeah, yeah, I love all the fluff and all the borrower/human and human/giant friendly stories and all the disappearing fear and friendship building, but… sometimes I need some angst. Some trauma. Some realistic fear. A borrower who has witnessed a human hurting/killing another borrower will not trust the human easily. Maybe the human/giant does something out of order when their angry. Or maybe they're just evil and don't care how they make the tiny feel. Hell, maybe they even like it when they're scared.
I live for some good angst.

Concept:
Tinies that cannot speak or understand language at all. They're still intellegent, they just never evolved the capacity for language because large societies are discovered and do not survive.
When a human has them cornered, the tinies can't beg or shout, so... they hiss. It's meant to imitate a snake and is supposed to be threatening. (It does actually work on most of the predators they encounter)
But for humans, it just sounds like a bottle of soda being opened... But weaker, smaller and somehow less threatening. Often times, this ends up backfiring: The human hears their weak little hisses and instantly feels responsible for the tiny, helpless person they've terrified.
Meanwhile, the (absolutely traumatized) tiny is trying to figure out if the human is calling their bluff, or if humans are so powerful and terrifying that they just... Think snakes are cute???

Thinking about emotional size shifters again, but... what about size shifters who's default size isn't human?
Tiny who's doing their best to fit in with human society and the emotion that grows them is anxiety. Easy enough, they think, they have plenty of that, and it won't exactly stand out with human society. But they find someone who's just so trustworthy, so calm, so casual about everything it is just contagious, and sitting next to that friend, their size just starts fading away to reveal they're a borrower the second they close their eyes...
Giant who shrinks with satisfaction. It takes some practice, but they learn to accept what they have. To go with the flow... to live within their means. Never taking life too fast.
But, they've got this new friend... they're growing closer to the human, wanting to see more of them... Constantly noticing a slight growth spurt oncoming, having to take breaks from their company, going into the bathroom for some privacy and taking deep breaths...
But their desire for them just gets too overwhelming, as their friend says something, does that little tic of theirs, or is simply focused on a hobby, and they realize they just can't accept this. They can't just be friends. They'll never be satisfied with this, they need MORE.
Their friend being bowled over by their hands as they grow to fill the office break room, their hot breath washing over their friend, the friend not knowing what to say out of fear, the giant, just being too unused to this discontent to have any clue what to say.

Drunk Giants
Imagine a tiny waiting up late for their giant to come home from their fun night out, only to have them arrive way later than they told them they would, completely wasted.
They’re stumbling around the apartment, calling out for the tiny while giggling to themselves. The tiny is unsure if they should answer. It’s the first time they’ve ever seen the giant this drunk… And while they know it’s them, and they’d never do anything to hurt them, accidents do happen…
However, they don’t get much time to overthink it as the giant spots them on the the couch. Their face shifts into utter delight and they practically throw themselves to where they’re sitting.
Before the tiny can react, they’re scooped up and peppered with kisses, the giant was happy to see their little buddy and more than willing to shower the frozen tiny with affection.
Despite being drunk, the giant handles the tiny like they’re the most delicate thing in the world, being mindful of how they’re holding them.
The tiny engages in some small talk, asking about how the evening was- only to be met by a slurred “it’s better now that I’m here with you~”, they ask how much the giant has had to drink- and they’re immediately silenced by the giant pair of lips that cover their entire face, they try to get the giant to put them down and go to bed- only to have them stand up and stumble to the bedroom with a giggle - “Yeah- hicc Yeah I think we should go to bed now…”
Not what they meant at all…
The tiny is unable to do anything as their giant carries them off to the bedroom, snuggling them between their cheek and the pillow as they yawned. The smell of alcohol was strong in their mouth. The tiny tries to ignore this as the giant nuzzles them gently into the pillow like a cat.
They can’t really move. And they can tell that their giant has fallen asleep. They sigh as they try to get comfortable. Oh well. At least the giant will feel the karma tomorrow morning when the night of drinking catches up to them.

Just been thinking about when giants hold a tiny between two fingers. How it only takes two fingers to immobilize a tiny, when no strength can fight against a being taller than your vision. And there are so many different ways to do it! By the midsection (a classic), holding a tiny by one leg and dangling them in the air, or (if its a really inconsiderate giant) holding them painfully by the tail. Maybe when grabbing a tiny by their stomach, they pin their arms too (like my pic lol) and the tiny can do nothing as they are dangled in the air, kicking their legs trying to find purchase. Just beautiful. Good soup.
