Linda: But trying to make people think you're cool is exhausting. And when you stop trying, suddenly the next person you talk to thinks you're the best person ever.
Cue the time-passing montage of Tina learning to let go of that embarrassing moment and stop trying to be cool. Most of the time it's with her family, at the restaurant, or by herself just investing herself in her favorite music again.
However, there's this one frame I'm convinced has subtle symbolism!
The only time Zeke appears in the episode and it's to be in front of Tina while she looks out the window still sad from the event. Due to how this scene was set up it really looks like it's implying that Zeke is one of those that would think Tina is "the best person ever". However, Tina is too busy being sad to notice what's already in front of her.
I mean, the window perfectly frames Zeke in (and sweet Susmita gets her moment too, even if it's just her hair and some of her skin) when they literally could have done whatever they wanted and changed the character in the seat in front of Tina. Heck, Tina could have been in the last seat and further symbolize the loneliness/self-pity Tina is feeling.
It's possible they just wanted to stick with accurate continuity and have Tina, Zeke, Susmita, and the rest be in the same seating arrangements as they were in "Cheaty Cheaty Bang Bang".
For continuity reasons or not, I still take it as symbolism that Zeke already thinks Tina is the coolest person ever and Tina just needs to really look around her to realize it. The subtext I tell ya!
So-Here is some more art.
I'm sorry for the bad coloring-thing, I just suck at it. I'm not used to coloring in my drawings. Also, about my drawings.
The drawing with Grover and Tina is NOT a ship, that's yucky and I just wanted to tell ya'll it's NOT a ship.
In the fourth picture, ZEKE IS WEARING PANTS-I just think it kinda looks like he's not wearing anything-AND BTW this is not nsfw related drawing. It's simply just Zeke x Tina stuff where he tells her he loves her beautiful body, and she shouldn't be ashamed of herself for being chubby. (I made her a lil' bit chubby in that drawing. <33)
That last drawing is my polyamory relationship that Zeke, Tina and Jimmy Jr have. That explains the other two doodles that I made.
I know, it's a bit weird that I explain everything but I just feel like I had too-
Continuing to work on anime girl Tina Ruth Belcher in procreate.
[ID:
Messy digital full color portrait sketch of Tina from Bob’s Burgers in an anime inspired style. It is unfinished with soft overlapping pastel colored lines made with a round brush on a blue gray background.
The thing about Tina Belcher that I think gets lost on people is that she actually IS autistic. I feel like the show tries to deny it because they don't want to be associated with promoting negative stereotypes, but she is spot on. I see so much of myself in her character, it's not even funny.
She's incredibly awkward, she speaks in that monotone that we're known for and has flat-affect, she's sassy as hell (but her comebacks are never quite 100%), she doesn't quite get certain social cues and comes off as a "psycho" to other girls her age, she gets angry very easily, and she's a stern rule-follower with an innate desire for justice where none exists.
And she does that thing where she tries to tell a joke but then feels the need to explain it or elaborate. That is so real, I can't even begin to say. ("My middle name is danger, but it's spelled Ruth.")
She's not a Sheldon Cooper. She's not a genius, she doesn't prattle on about trains, or really do anything else to fill the mold of a "stereotype." But she is different from her peers and family members. Ultimately, Tina's a character first, defined by her creativity and pre-pubescent horny girl behavior.
(i just screamed "oh god" into my hands lmaoooo)
so this one is inspired by a Fexi fic i read a while back. basically Tina is downing in student loan debt (so relatable lmao) and her bestie Jimmy Jr. is a sugar baby who has been trying to convince her to get into the business so that she can get some money to pay it off. she finally agrees and is matched up with Zeke, who comes from new money and needs a fake girlfriend to get his mom off his back about dating and not being alone. they end up falling in love and there's a lot of smut lol.
there's not a whole lot to this one but here's a snippet:
He poked his head out and frowned at her. “This is a job, Tina. Don’t be judgemental.”
“I’m not!” She held up her hands in surrender then lowered them back down to her lap. “I guess I just can’t see anyone wanting to pay for my company.”
“Girl, shut up.” He rolled his eyes at her. “Anyone would be lucky to spend time with you, I keep telling you! You’d make bank, T. You’re hot!” He pulled himself back into his room, calling to her, “Some guy would be super excited to show off his hot girlfriend at a gala, deck you out in diamonds and designer!”
Tina sighed and rolled her eyes fondly. “I just don’t think I’m sugar baby material. I’m not that hot–”
“Tina Ruth Belcher, you shut your mouth before I slap you!”
“Sorry, sorry.” Not wanting to risk him actually coming out and slapping her, she resigned herself to silence as she checked her bank account.
And winced. Yikes. Looks like her phone bill and her loan payment had come out this week. Looks like she’d be eating ramen again for the next few weeks.
Jimmy came out of his room and frowned when he saw the look on her face. “Uh oh. What is it?”
“I’m broke. Again.” She leaned her head back and closed her eyes, one hand raising to rub her temples as she felt a headache coming on. “Getting really tired of fighting starvation.”
“I’m sure if you talked to your dad, he would give you a raise–”
“No,” she shook her head, opening her eyes and giving the boy a firm look. “I’m not going to bother him with this. I knew what I was in for when I took the loan out.”
“You thought you’d have someone to help you pay it,” Jimmy Jr. argued, crossing his arms and frowning at her. “I could lend you some money–”
“No.” Here they went again, he tried this argument every month. Didn’t he ever give up? “You need your money, I’m not going to take it.”
jess's middle name being ruth makes so much sense and i don't know why. its like how it makes sense that tina belcher from bobs burgers' middle name is also ruth. it makes sense
Since there's not going to be a Valentine's day episode this month. I wanted to fill that void by making these. So here you all go, puns and all! Happy Valentine's day!
After years of being told I sucked at drawing by my teachers and peers, I told my brother I wanted to teach myself how to draw in my own style so I can express my headcanons and hyperfixations instead of trying to write when my brain won’t let me. He bought me my very first sketch book and pencils for Christmas which I’ve already decorated, and Tina Ruth Belcher is presiding. Sounds lame, but I’m so proud of myself🥹🩵

==========
I originally borrowed this costume in 2017 from my friend (who is Louise) but loved being Tina so much I bought my own set! Of course, I managed to convince my now-husband to be Jimmy Jr. This costume is always a lot of fun to do! It's comfy and getting to hang with friends is always the best! 😊
Sorry about the masks, maybe next time we'll take some proper photos! ❤️

Mostly thrifted, I painted the red stripe on my socks and painted my used, old purple high-tops black. In my backpack, I also have a composition notebook labeled "Erotic Friend Fiction" because I have to!
