i actually think berryheart should've succeeded in making tigerheartstar step down for 2 reasons:
it's still an example of how the new rule can be used for both good and bad and shows how xenophobia really can't be cured with a cute new rule after a girl died, the new rule is good in theory but its flawed like the rest of the code. it's also a good way to highlight and criticize the xenophobia in the clan in general given that this arc seems to revolve around that conflict. It's also an actual climax for the book instead of "nuh-uh" that leads into the next book well as now sunbeam might feel worried about her old clan and cats like fringewhisker now. conflict is a good thing to deal with in a story.
tigerstar is just tigerheart again so we can stop having duplicate names of the most important characters, no seriously why the fuck did they do that do they hate us

ooh okay, i’ll do favorite au!! i don’t have an absolute favorite au bc a lot of them are so cool, so i’ll do my top 3 favorite aus for right now
i love aus where dawnpelt, tigerheart, and flametail were the three!!
another one i like is where it’s basically brambleclaw being the one who went to shadowclan while tawnypelt stayed in thunderclan (and also her becoming tawnystar haha) honestly would be awesome if it was actually canon haha
last one is tigerclaw being firepaw’s mentor!! oh my godddd i absolutely love it like the DRAMA that would happen in this au!! firepaw looking up to tigerclaw and tigerclaw putting up a mask like he’s fine being a mentor to him and fireheart being shocked when tigerclaw starts showing his true colors like yessss this would have been so cool!! (i also want to say your mentor tiger au is so awesome, it’s so compelling!!)

Ok I'm genuinely curious are you going to make Rowanstar an awesome leader or fallow the books and make him a pansy? I kind of hope you make him better because it was just mean how they treated him in the book.
He’s a good leader. They did him so dirty just to make Tigerstar 2 look better and I didn’t enjoy that. Poor guy. He gets his time in the glory but ultimately does pass during Vision of Shadows, of which a new leader takes his place of course. Though not Tigerheart. Tigerheart isn’t looking to be leader in Power of Twelve.

So, his prefix is never Fire. Instead, it's Acorn!
This is a picture of a cat that looks very similar to what I've imagined, except he has green eyes.
So, Brushkit, to Brushpaw, to Brushfire!
He's a very spunky cat, but never truly had to prove himself since he was clanborn. Despite this, he's always been insecure of his smaller size. To make up for this, he's very fast. He was given his warrior name after pushing Tigerheart into a fire <3
After that, Bluestar was weary, but still made him deputy after Whitestorm died. In this AU, the deputy after Tigerheart was Whitestorm. He was both hated and loved for what he did, but everyone could agree that he'd done what was right.
So, yes, this is very different, but ever since I read warriors I've been itching to do this. I have a more similar to canon AU where he's just clanborn but- eh

LOL CJSBDKJD ITS OKAY I WILL STEM THE FLOW OF TIGER CLONES. The only ones that are really gonna look like Tigerstar in this AU are Bramblethorn and kind of Hawkfrost, but Jay, Lion and Holly didn't inherit many Tiger genes. :D Lion would have his built, but that's it.
ALSO TIGERHEART IS ABSOLUTELY GETTING A NAME AND DESIGN CHANGE THE ERINS CAN FIGHT ME. His personality will probably stay similar though, I live for all the Tiger clones (Bramble, Lion, and Tigerheart) being loveable lovestruck himbos with questionable priorities but no drive to hurt anyone.

Dovewing anon, again!
I do agree that Ivypool has gone through a lot- people say Dovewing did have a normal kithood but Ivypool didn’t either. I was never really mad at her for her treatment of Dovewing during Omen of the Stars, (I was mainly mad at how fans seem to ignore how rude she was and how she is still mean to Dovewing sometimes after Omen of the Stars), because I saw her as a child who was basically feeling ignored by everyone- which she was, Blossomfall wasn’t making things better either. She was mean to Ivypool and Hawkfrost manipulating her- these bad cats making her think this way. I mainly saw it as the Dark Forest being a bad influence on her- that she was a victim being taken advantage of and I do remember feeling bad when she realized the truth, when she thought ‘she wasn’t special, she was stupid’. I am also one of the fans who believe Ivypool should’ve been the fourth cat due to her being a spy and it honestly made more sense than Hollyleaf and Firestar to me at least.
Wanna hear the other reason I don’t really like Tigerheart and Dovewing anymore? They’re related to each other. I found that out by randomly clicking links in characters’ family sections on the Warrior Wiki while during research for a Mapleshade blog I was doing. This is all because of Whitestorm- let me explain. So Dovewing is the daughter of Birchfall who is the son of Ferncloud; Whitestorm has been confirmed (not in the books, out of the books) to be the father of Ferncloud and her brother, Ashfur. Whitestorm is the son of Thistleclaw who is the son of Poppydawn. Poppydawn is the daughter of a warrior named Fallowsong, Fallowsong has a sister named Sweetbriar. Sweetbriar is the second mate of Oakstar; they had Pinestar, who is Tigerstar’s father. Who we all know is Tigerheart’s grandfather. So that was a discovery I wasn’t expecting to find and that’s one of the things that ruined the ship for me.
I actually believed Tigerheart was getting better in the Broken Code but then, I think, the third book happened where they made him an idiot who lets his son get mistreated and see the cat who manipulated him. Like- Erins, why? I honestly think Tawnypelt would make an awesome leader and we were so close- so close.

That’s some good Ivypool analysis, and you are right about people forgetting/ignoring about her rudeness, honestly I forgot about it until you started discussing it, I feel like that trait of hers is just something that gets forgotten generally by fans.
It’s so crazy that Dovewing chooses a mate from another clan and still somehow chooses someone that’s related to her lol. Thanks to retcons they’re also related another way. Dovewing is descended from Lionheart since he is now Brightheart’s father. Tigerheart is descended from Goldenflower, Lionheart’s sister.
I was almost at the point where I was thinking “hey maybe Tigerstar might have actually changed for the better, he might be a bad boyfriend but he seems like a really good dad” during early broken code then, like you say, he started going along with Shadowsight being punished like that and I was like “whelp nevermind” lol
Tawnypelt would have been so good as leader, she would have been formidable and I think her leadership would allow for a SkyClan-ShadowClan alliance since I think Leafstar and Tawnypelt would definitely see eye to eye on many matters

Imagine Dovewing, her kids, and TigerHEART (not -star!!) going back to the clans, finding Shadowclan functional and doing well with Tawnystar as leader, and joining Skyclan instead. The raw power of Dovewing and Shadowsight mixed with the awesomeness of Skyclan.

I'm enjoying your AU! I came across it a few days ago and finished just reading Thunder and Shadow, so now I'm about to start Shattered Sky, and I can keep up with updates :D You've made the cats' friendships and family relationships so much closer, and I love it a lot. I hope you write TBC, too; I think your take on it would be awesome. Is it a spoiler to ask if Tigerheart becomes leader in your AU? I know Puddleshine had the son/sun-ish vision, but I halfway hope Dawnpelt takes his places lol!
First, thank you so much! You're so sweet <3!! I'm so happy with how the relationships in this are coming along, and I definitely see the theme in the first (and Twigpaw's second) half of AVOS to be loving your kin beyond your blood kin, so I wanted everyone to be a lot closer than they seem in canon.
Second, I am actually considering a TBC rewrite . . . Cause my ideas would come with one new character and totally revamping Shadow and Root's characters. It'd be fun, but don't get your hopes up, I have a lot of other stuff I'm working on 😂
And third, hmm, let's just say ShadowClan's leaders are going to be much different during/after Darkest Night ;)!

Oh boy. Strap yourself in for this one.
The OG SEs were the bomb; Firestar’s Quest, Bluestar’s Prophecy, and Crookedstar’s Promise are some of the best books in the series. SkyClan’s Destiny was thoroughly entertaining, and although it’s been ages I actually enjoyed Yellowfang’s Secret (that seems to be an unpopular opinion in itself).
I haven’t read Moth Flight’s Vision, Tallstar’s Revenge, Bramblestar’s Storm Hawkwing’s Journey, Tigerheart’s Shadow, Crowfeather’s Trial, or Squirrelflight’s Hope. I haven’t had the chance to read Moth Flight’s or Hawkwing’s SEs, and I got bored halfway through Tallstar and Bramblestar’s SEs. As for the others?
I’m not interested in reading an entire SE about a character that was a major player for multiple arcs and I didn’t even like them then, nor am I interested in reading a SE that was designed for “feels” but when I finish the book, I feel depressed (looking at you, Moth Flight’s Vision and Squirrelflight’s Hope).
(Firestar’s Quest is an exception to the rule because the concept of rebuilding a lost Clan was so intriguing and genuinely entertaining; also, Fire/Sand bonding time? And this is probably another unpopular opinion of mine, but Firestar was the best narrator in the series.)
I think it’s criminal that cats like Crowfeather, Tigerheart/star, Bramblestar, and Squirrelflight all have SEs when cats like Blackstar(!!!), Mapleshade, Cloudstar, Shadowstar, and Goosefeather are stuck with Novellas.
Mapleshade was especially done dirty. She had all the potential in the world to have an incredible, emotional, and downright awesome SE. I don’t pick up the new books these days but you bet I would have read the heck out of a Mapleshade SE. (For the record, I’m not even a huge Mapleshade stan.)
IMO, Bramblestar, Tigerheart/star and Squirrelflight’s books could have been condensed into Novellas (and from what I understand, Bramblestar probably would be more well-liked if they had been).
I can understand why they gave Crowfeather a SE – that boy gets more hate than just about any other character in the fandom, and it would take a lotttt of pages to redeem him, which seems to be what they were trying to do. But let’s face it: Breezepelt’s Redemption would have made a much better SE. (And I actually would have read that one, too!)
(Sidenote: I think readers would be 10x more likely to forgive Crowfeather if we saw Breezepelt forgive Crowfeather, through his own perspective. Or at the very, very least, Nightcloud’s perspective.)
At first the Erins seemed to be able to differentiate which characters/storylines needed an SE, and which ones needed a Novella. Hollyleaf’s Story, Mistystar’s Omen, Tigerstar’s Fury, Leafpool’s Wish, and Dovewing’s Silence were all solid Novellas that definitely did not require 300+ pages to convey their stories. Lately, though, the Erins seem to just be picking their favorite characters.
From what I understand, the plot with the Sisters in Squirrelflight’s Hope, the majority of Bramblestar’s Storm, and the entirety of Tigerheart’s Shadow was simply unnecessary. If that’s the case, then it just furthers my point that these characters did not require SEs and the Erins literally had to think of ‘filler plots’ to muster up enough content for a SE.
When there are literally hundreds of other characters that could have benefited from a SE!
And that bites. Because Mapleshade’s story/character suffered from the fact that her story was too complicated to be condensed into a Novella, and Blackstar’s likely will be, too (unless they do him really dirty and skip over his time as Brokenstar/Tigerstar’s deputy and his early leadership and how he basically redeemed ShadowClan, and instead write about how he threw away his faith for like a moon. Geeze.) And Breezepelt, who’s character would greatly benefit from a SE, will probably never get one now because the Erins feel that his story was told in Crowfeather’s Trial.
Anyway, that’s my rant for the day! SEs used to be a way to explore characters that didn’t have the chance to have their whole story told in the main arcs, and now they’re a way for the Erins to make money by putting a popular/controversial character’s name in the title.
