Hello Hi! I’m alive and I saw DnD au.
I’m a very big DnD nerd and I want to say a thing!
1: I thought for a moment “no Howdy would be a martial Class” but you are so right, he makes inventions. So cool
2: WARLOCK WALLY WARLOCK WALLY WARLOCK WALLY (from a person who loves Warlocks this fills my heart with glee)
3: I am 5 seconds away from designing homebrew for them/building off actual subclasses for them. I am Actively trying to figure out how to Give Wally the Big House spell (which is an actual spell) bc it fits his vibe.
hello welcome back!
honestly i struggled for a Minute there w/ Howdy's classification cause yeah... four hands made for punching... but then Clown's response to an ask about what each neighbor would do in Splatoon said that Howdy would use some sorta bomb (i don't know the names/terms! i dont play!) so my brain went "ah! ranged attacks!" honestly most of my choices here are based off of that post.... its nice to know the Roles they would all take in battle!
ok im not a huge dnd nerd but like. im guessing 'big house spell' is the magnificent mansion, and isnt that a wizard spell? if you were willing to fuck with boundaries a lil, you could reason that wizard/warlock are juuuuust similar enough that either could use that spell

Henry has been following people around to watch them work all day, it's very sweet. He started by hanging out with Wookshys on the fishing bridge but got bored quickly and decided to trot around after Kaz like a little duckling instead.
Stared at this message for a few long minutes trying to work out how on earth Zonovo managed to "tuck a loose strand of hair" behind Baz's ear when Baz does not have hair. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that Zonovo tucked a strand of Zonovo's hair behind Baz's ear, and I could never resist drawing Zonovo with his hair down, so here you go.
Also loved that their smooches were immediately followed by a deep talk about death. Ah, romance...
Fafo is such a wonderful colonist to have. She's very talented, and I appreciate her a lot. Connie has been upset that her shoes are tattered, so maybe a pair of masterwork boots will make her stop complaining.
Then this happened, which was weird for a bunch of reasons, mostly because Andy is three and also we have no beer in the colony. Nothing actually happened after this notification- Kaz continued cooking, and Andy continued playing with the Comms Console.
The only person affected by this at all, in fact, seems to be Fafo, who now has a "jealous" mood debuff because Kaz was hanging out with someone else (even though he wasn't). I guess the pregnancy is taking its toll on her, poor thing.

8, 10 and 14 for Paige and Aurinelle :)
motivation to answer asks has fallen upon me 🙏
Paige:
8- That would be his relationship with his parents, specifically his mother. Seeing her perform such wonderful plays and songs was so strikingly beautiful to him it basically inspired all his life aspirations.
He wants to create music worthy of being sung by people as talented as his mother, and he wishes for his compositions to be as popular and engaging as his father's.
10- Uuuuuhhh 🧍♀️Well, I guess this truly depends on which of Paige's morals are being challenged, but knowing Paige, he's likely to choose whichever path is less likely to affect him negatively in the long run. As I've said before, Paige likes to avoid conflict. (Sorry this answer is so vague. My understanding of morals as a concept is very limited 😓)
14- heh... does this even need an explanation 😭? Well, Paige strongly expresses himself through music (I know, shocker 😱) he tends to make new lyrics daily based on whatever mood he's feeling!
Rather than having a talent for lyric writing and music composition, Paige picked up the skills from all the music he heard his dad make, which allowed for creative flow in his young mind!
Aurinelle:
8- Oof there's no way this could be anyone outside his family because haha isolation, but I think that out of all his family members, the one that impacted him (not positively) the most was with Nellie.
This one has some lore drop to it on why Aurinelle doesn't trust himself to not harm anything smaller than him so buckle up I guess 💀
There was this one time in which Aurinelle was extremely sick. Nellie, being nothing but a little baby around the age of two, swam into Aurinelle's room to play with him, unaware of how sick he was. The issue is that when he's sick, Aurinelle's senses dull and he becomes highly alert to whatever comes near him and aggressive. So when Nellie touched his sleeping form, Aurinelle instantly went into fight pr flight mode, thinking it was a predator. Unfortunately, Aurinelle never chooses flight.
He attacked without having assessed the situation yet, and accidently blinded one of Nellie's eyes. Since that they he's refused to willingly touch anything that he could potentially harm, and that includes his little sisters. While his mums have tried to reassure him that it was as accident and that no one was to blame, he still hasn't gotten rid of the unease that comes with coming into contact with others, specially small or adorable people that might activate his aggression.
10- Aurinelle would stick to his morals no matter what, so he's likely to choose whatever option does not deviate from his beliefs, regardless of future outcomes.
14- This is actually a wonderful question! Aurinelle doesn't express himself as clearly as someone like Paige does, but he does enjoy expressing himself to fashion! While Aurinelle doesn't go out much, whenever he does he tends to wear Y2k fits (yes. This man wears CROP TOPS. It's the hottest thing istg). He's got anyone he passes swooning 😖 Aurinelle does like lighter colors btw! I wouldn't say pastel and stuff like that, just like, idk, lighter colors 😭
His other form of self expression would be his gems (they glow different colors with whatever emotion he's feeling) which he takes extensive care of.

more undead keith because writing this thing has taken over my life
(and a chunk of said Thing under the readmore...)
The quiet moment passes, the faint cries of night-flying shorebirds distant on the air, and Keith watches them as they drift by. There are no boats left in readiness on Morar beach tonight, nor are the distant sails he recalled visible in the slot where the bay meets the sea. Disappointment upon disappointment — not only is he dead, but his usefulness at this post has evidently perished for the moment as well. His discomfort extends beyond the internal in that moment, as an odd twisting sensation curls its way through his cheek. Keith winces against it, his mouth curling half against his will as the out-of-place, crawling feeling moves upwards towards his cheekbone.
Looking down at his grave-muddied hands, his blood-marred waistcoat, panic fills him as understanding dawns, and he claws frantically at the source of the sensation. He digs his fingernails deeper against his face, and with a quick harsh motion, pulls a thin grey worm free of the hole in his cheek. Cursing, he flings it away and tries to tidy himself as best he can. There’s not as much dripping as he had briefly worried there might be, except for that slick half-dried mess all down the front of his waistcoat. Whoever had buried him had done it hastily, not stopping to neaten up the corpse beforehand. And lucky for him that they had, too — it would have been far more trouble to get free had the grave been any less shallow.
Unsettled again by the revelation of his decayed state, Keith folds to sit on what was previously his grave, elbows resting on his knees and his hands beneath his chin in a manner that purposefully avoids any further exploration of the new holes in his face. Gathering himself somewhat, he attempts to get his bearings. How long had he been buried? This is the question he prefers, for how long has he been dead only raises further and worse questions.
The moon has shifted significantly since he had seen it last, now stretching to form a broad arc of light against a sky as tossed with clouds as the sea might be with waves. But that means little to Keith at this moment. He has no idea of how long he had spent insensible and under earth, and no way of measuring out that time. By the turn of the moon, it could have been anywhere from a few days to a handful of weeks, or even more.
A consultation of his watch does him no good, for he has found already that it is gone entirely, as is his purse. Whoever had buried him had taken little care enough with his body, but had made a quick enough search of it for valuables, for there is little now left of any such thing. Wrapping his arms around himself against the sudden further chill, Keith notices that the epaulette has been cut from the shoulder of his coat. An odd enough choice of twofold theft and humiliation, but one that cuts at him just as decisively as the knife itself had taken hold in wool and in gold bullion, for in that instant Keith recalls that in his death, he had been forced into that decision that he had been so hesitant to make in life.
He had not known, then, that those were to be his last few minutes as a man living and breathing, hale and whole. It was not a proper soldier’s grave he had been given, without even the honor of a coffin to protect his body briefly from the scavengers and creeping insects that would have surely come for him had he remained much longer in the grave. Keith Windham, major though he was, has been abandoned again on the shore of Morar, hidden away out of sight to hide the failure of all involved. And now that he has risen from that death-marked secrecy, would he be any more desired? Would the garrison want a man with death-dripping holes in his face and a rotted, shambling walk, and beyond that, a man who had now disgraced himself twice over?
He had done the best he could for king and country, but could not say that he had given his life fully in their service. A year before, he would have thought it a fit price and a fit gift, to die beneath King George’s banner, for such was the other side of the coin of his expected fate. Toss the silver shilling, watch it spin in the air, catch it in sure sword-callused hands and see how it lands — one side is victory, the other side death.
But the wheel of the year had turned, and Keith Windham has been made to turn with it, swept off his feet by the rush of it as the seasons shifted and carried him along on each battle’s sweeping tide. Had it really only been a year? Keith counts out the days, estimating turning to guessing once again. It had been mid-August when he had set foot in Scotland for the first time, and mid-August again at the last. Somewhere in that year, the bright shilling of his fate has been melted and recast, king’s-head and crest turning to images indiscernible to Keith’s eyes.
Despite it all, it is still easy enough to put it away again, to slip the coin of fate into a pocket and carry it without feeling much of the weight of it at all. Keith is well practiced at such things; he drags himself upright and walks on, the cold weight of the far future no longer heavy in his hand.

Geology of Natural Disasters and How to write them into your fictional universe.
So, you want to write about a natural disaster to advance your plot and torture your players/characters even more? Let me tell you how, accurately.
I feel like unless it is a volcano, natural disasters are a pretty slept on plot drivers, and some of them are really cool and unique! Today, I will talk to you about land slides, earthquakes (And earthquake related disasters), and volcanoes.
Landslides: Probably one I see the least in stories, but one that would be incredibly interesting to write into a plot where they believe in curses. Landslides can happen along ocean bluffs, slightly hilly areas, and highly mountainous areas, this means it is something that can happen in most landscapes. But what can trigger a landslide? Mostly all you need to trigger a landslide could be just abnormally large amounts of rain, excessive deforestation (with a little bit of rain), or an earthquake. If you don't want to use deforestation or an earthquake as a catalyst, a really cool indicator that the land is slipping and may be prone to a collapse is J hooked trees.
This indicates that there is soil creeping slowly over time, and it may lead to a major landslide.
2. Earthquakes: Probably one of the easiest things to write, earthquakes can happen anywhere, but they are most common in places that are tectonically active areas. There are about three types of environments you can expect earthquakes to be common. The first is just rugged mountains, if your landscape looks like this, you should write in earthquakes. Associated hazards could be landslides, avalanches, and large falling rocks.
The next landscape could be a thin mountain range, next to the ocean, very scenic, but very dangerous. Essentially, I am describing a subduction zone environment.
Earthquakes in these areas could equal a couple different associated disasters. Scenario one: A very large earthquake happens, and the ocean begins to recede. This is a tsunami, enough said. If you are writing a tsunami though, please, please, do not write it as a large wave, thank you. Also, a common way people are hurt by tsunami's are from them going into the ocean because they don't understand a tsunami is going to happen.
Scenario two: A large earthquake happens, your characters are in a valley and suddenly the ground begins to liquify as the ground shakes, once the shaking stops, the ground becomes solid like nothing ever happened, except everything has suddenly sunk into the now hard ground. This is called liquefaction and it typically happens in areas that have loose dirt or lots of saturated soil.
Scenario three: There are a lot of small earthquakes, they do not cause a lot of damage, but you begin to notice that one of the isolated mountains has a plume rising. Earthquakes can indicate lava moving underground and the filling of magma chambers.
The next environment that can host lots of earthquakes would be regions that have a lot of really deep valleys and small mountain ranges (not cone volcanoes), but overall seems pretty flat.
This indicates a transform fault like the San Andreas. If you want to hint at there being earthquakes in the area, you can show fence posts that are suddenly several feet out of line at a dilapidated farm or something similar.
(These earthquakes are different because they are cased from sideways movement, not an up-and-down movement this hint can only be used for this environment). Volcanoes would not be found here, but liquefaction and landslides could still occur here.
4. Volcanoes: If you thought earthquakes had a lot of information, volcanoes do too. First you have to ask yourself, what kind of volcano you want to have, what kind of eruption style? So lets break down the kind of eruptions you can have and what their landscapes look like. Hawaiian Shield volcano: This will produce a smooth fast lava, the landscape typically is pretty flat, but there will be small cones and the rocks can have a ropey or jagged texture and the rocks will be almost exclusively black to dark red.
Stratovolcanoes: These will be solitary mountains, typically, that look like perfect cones (Picture shown in earthquake section). These will have large ash cloud eruptions and pyroclastic flows, they may have some lava, but typically most damage is done from the pyroclastic flows (think Pompeii). Some hints of these, other than describing the cone features (which can be hidden by other mountains), would be to talk about petrified wood! Trees can get fossilized in the ash and I imagine it would be very strange to find this rock that clearly looks to be a piece of wood, but its a rock. Subcategory- Calderas: Used to be a large stratovolcano, but they erupt so explosively that the entire cone collapses and creates a basin.
There are a lot of kinds of volcanoes out there, so forgive me for just putting an infographic and then talking to you about these really rare types of eruptions that I feel like people should know about.
Okay lets talk about blue lava (kind of) and black lava
You will notice the lava is still red in the middle of this image, during the day these would look like a normal eruption, but at night the burning sulfur would make it appear blue. Some cool features other than this, would be that any water in the area would become very acidic and burn the skin due to sulfuric acid. This would again be really cool if you are trying to describe a 'cursed' land.
Black lava: This happens only in the east African rift I believe, but it is a carbonatite lava, but if you are writing in a rift valley (where the continent is tearing apart to form a new ocean) this might be a cool feature. The lava will cool white and will quickly erode, it makes for a very alien landscape!
Anyway as always, this is supposed to be an introductive guide for the basics of writing geology to create cool landscapes/features into dnd or fictional universes, if you are a geologist please understand my oversimplification of tectonics, I didn't want people to run away.
