promised myself i was going to do this high for humor value and to be edgy. and now that i am high, i will be doing it. thank you to @thevagabondexpress and @imabitchforjemcarstairs for telling me to go for it.

WHAT I THINK OF EACH BETTER IN BLACK COUPLE, IN THE ORDER THEY APPEARED ON THE ROSTER.

Wessa -> EXCITEMENT LEVEL 9/10. i always want to see more of these two and am curious about what they may do in paris. i'm picky with wessa content and very finicky with it, but i am currently cautiously optimistic about liking the story. if i do i think i will be a bit more satisfied with wessa's canon storyline/content as i want to see them in an established relationship. i'm so interested in what the little crystal ball/snowglobe on the cover means and kinda hope they get into some magical mayhem.

Clace -> EXCITEMENT LEVEL 7.5/10. I like Clace and they give me nostalgic feelings, so it will be fun to catch up with them. They're not, like, an all-time favorite ship, but I like them together and am curious what theyre like as an adult couple.

Arianna -> EXCITEMENT LEVEL 9/10. I'll admit that this ship is one i have some complicated feelings about, but i like them a lot anyway. they're one of the most interesting/compelling dynamics in the TSC canon to me even if i don't think they're thomastairherondaisy-like soulmates. i think that this story is a good choice because their story feels unfinished, and to properly conclude their storyline we need to see them have some conversations and make some compromises. i'm really rooting for them and am excited to see how their relationship works/changes.

Herondaisy -> EXCITEMENT LEVEL 1000/10. i mean, it's herondaisy. Did you really expect anything less? i'm pumped because i want to see them domestically after they acknowledge that they're married and in love. there's going to be a 2nd wedding rune scene, which is awesome and im hyped, but i also think we're probably gonna get some honeymoon adventure content of both of them and i am even MORE excited for that. i like how cordelia is running and james is reachng after her on the cover like "i love my wife she's so adventurous but come baaack. wait for meee." and YES??? good god. this one is going to be so good. and im so curious what the pomegranates are??? yeah??? i think something about being invincible because of persian myth. maybe it's because they're soulmates. an unstoppable duo. i'm gushing lol @angeldaisies @hanelizabeth. i need to stop but this will definitely happen again when i get to the thomastair story.

Sebastian and SQ -> EXCITEMENT LEVEL 8.5/10. okay i KNOW this one's controversial, and i get why one might be upset if their favourite ship did not make the cut. but like. okay. i am SO excited for this story. this is going to be DARK. this is going to be TWISTY. this is going to be the dark horse of the bunch, fundamentally fucked up and horrifying. doomed by the narrative. i'm so excited that this story is there because it's going to be so tonally unique. i think cassie wanted to write something truly fucked up, i think she has the talent to pull it off perfectly, and i am fucking pumped.

Jemma -> EXCITEMENT LEVEL 2/10 for the setting. it'll be cool seeing another institute while they're on their travel year. but otherwise i'm not vibing. i expected it fully though so it's fine, this is the only one in the set i'm considering a throwaway for me that i will for sure dislike. But that's okay! because next up is...

Thomastair -> EXCITEMENT LEVEL 1000/10. guys. look. these are the people whose love i am myself in love with. these are the people that make me believe in hope, and healing, and the power of getting better together and doing better. and we havent seen them in a lot of established relationship, so im glad to do so here. AND IN A ROMCOM. YES. and we're definitely getting content of them playing with zachary. which is like, a dream come true for me since a) i adore that kind of story, and b) zachary is such an important part of alastairs arc. i also think they're going to babysit him and everything that can go wrong will. he's lost! he's rolling away! ahhh! oh it's going to be great. like the herondaisy story this is definitely going to be beloved by me. there's no way to make me not like it. this is going to be one of my comfort stories for the rest of my life, i can tell. like nbs or cls or eet or the herondaisy story or the matthew novella. the thomastair story goes into this special and exclusive category. but yea im gushing again because they're soulmates and i love them <333

Kierarktina -> EXCITEMENT LEVEL 6/10. Yes, i am not really a kierarktina fan, but hear me out. I find their relationship interesting, and they have a lot of things that really don't work. but I think a story where they begin to unpack these differences would be astounding. Also sue me i'm interested in the horse on the cover, much like Ken in the barbie movie.

Sizzy -> EXCITEMENT LEVEL 7.5/10. another ship that while not an all-time favourite is nostalgic and beloved by me. and we've barely seen them at all since TMI, so it will be great to know what they're up to.

Lukelyn -> EXCITEMENT LEVEL 6.5/10. do i care about this couple? no. i don't dislike them, but i'm meh on them. BUT i LOVE the circle, and it said that it took place in the past. we might get another circle story! But also... i want to see Ragnor and think he might appear here??

TSC Analysis: Will and Tessa's behavior towards James and Lucie's partners

Tonight I'll talk about a topic that personally interests me a lot and that, I don't know, may interest other people? I hope. Parents and their relationship with their in-laws. It was inspired by a poll about who was Will's favorite kid, lol. It got me thinking about Will and Tessa's "kids", and specifically, about Cordelia and Jesse, who are part of their extended family by this point. This analysis is about how Will and Tessa view Cordelia and Jesse as their children's partners and how they interacted with them in TLH. Did they trust them instantly? Did they like them? Are they close? Things that I often asked myself and I thought I'd share with you hoping you're interested because this took me hours to write 😅

Will trusts his children's judgement when it comes to Cordelia and Jesse, but naturally, he also has opinions about them, and we saw them in the way he interacted with both. Cordelia (and James) lied about their marriage, but since he never knew about the sham, he never doubted her. Will was overjoyed with the news that James was going to marry a Carstairs, Jem's cousin no less, and gave her his blessing. To him, Cordelia was already family, and he loved her already and trusted her. Wessa trusted Cordelia but she was actually lying to them about her marriage to James.

Will was distrustful towards Jesse at first, because he had been possessed. He accepted him after he discovered what he did for James. Sacrificing his last breath for his son was enough 'proof' that Jesse didn't have ill intentions towards his family. In London, Jesse acted like a proper boyfriend towards Lucie, but he also was well-mannered with Wessa, he helped around the Institute; Will never once thought his trust had been misplaced. Unlike Cordelia, Jesse had to earn Will's trust. By the end of the story, Will considers Jesse like family, that's why he gave him the home mark and the stele which belonged to his father. This is very symbolic. Will officially welcomed Jesse in the family even though he's not married to Lucie yet (so this was sort of a blessing from Will to Lucie and Jesse) and probably a promise about Jesse's own future in the London Institute.

Will is very sentimental: he accepted Cordelia instantly because she was a Carstairs, unaware that Jordelia lied about their marriage at first. Will is also very practical: he accepted Jesse not because of his last name, but for the way he behaved, for his practical actions. Wessa considered Cordelia like a daughter, because of who she was. They loved her already, and she needn't do anything for them to like her, or to earn their trust (which she very much broke when she and James lied to them). Jesse was the son of the villain and won Wessa's heart over by showing them he was a person they could rely on. This also meant being a well-mannered guy around their daughter and be transparent, for the sake of the future he wants to have with her.

Tessa also trusts Lucie and James's judgement. It's very easy to win Tessa over. She is a great judge of character and very hopeful and tries to trust people even though they did bad things (she was the only one who believed there was still hope to save Tatiana, uhm). She knows how to read people, and I bet she is very good at figuring body language too and understand whether someone is uncomfortable, lying, needs advice, etc. Not that Will isn't, but he lets his emotions cloud his judgement at times, and he can be impulsive and act rashly, then later rationalize and change his mind if he needs to. Tessa is more rational than Will and more controlled in her reactions (if you think that when Will sees Jesse for the first time, he literally takes a blade to threaten him, duh!).

Tessa seems quieter than Will, but she's not. She pays attention a lot and seems to be very helpful in making people feel at ease or more positive and hopeful about a situation. She's very attentive. When talking about Cordelia and Jesse to Lucie and James, she first comments about their outward appearance. Soon, though, she gives insight about their inner world, what not many people bother to see when they interact with pretty people. Tessa understands the struggles Cordelia and Jesse are going through, and is ready to offer them support when she feels they need it.

Cordelia felt very uneasy during her engagement party with James, the moment when she was officially introduced to their society as James' future wife and the Herondale's future in law/family member. Tessa helped her feel more confident. She was able to understand Cordelia because she is also a woman who is often whispered-about by the people in the Clave, and her father is also someone very questionable. Before Jordelia's marriage, she also advised James that even though Cordelia was a strong woman, the matter with her father bothered her a lot because it was complicated. Hence, Will also advised James to be a good husband and support Cordelia.

Tessa's situation with Jesse is quite similar, but the conversation happens in private during a dinner, where Jesse is already inserted into the Herondale's family dynamics as if he was already one of them. Will had just received the call that Tatiana was in Cornwall. This whole situation upsets Jesse, because his relationship with his mother was complicated. Tessa sensed it, and tried to give him hope. Something any good mother would say, if they see their son looking lost and hopeless. Lucie wanted to go after Jesse to support him but Tessa advised against it and suggested she gave him time to be alone.

In both instances, it's James who notices Jesse's shocked reaction to the fatherly/motherly way in which Will and Tessa interact with him. He doesn't just recognize how Jesse grew up in a very different environment than he did (dead father, problematic mother), but also that his parents were and are good parents to him and Lucie. They were always supportive of him and his sister, and they received a lot of love. And Wessa's love and support is not limited to James and Lucie only, they also show love and support to their family and friends, and to even to people they barely know.

Closing remarks: I believe that Wessa like Cordelia and Jesse very much as James and Lucie's partners, of course, and they welcomed them with open arms in their family. Because of the circumstances, though, the end of TLH it seems to hint that Wessa (and especially Will's) relationship with Jesse is going to be tighter than the one with Cordelia. It's not a matter of preference between their in-laws, who I think they equally like, but a matter of proximity. James and Cordelia got married, and they now live in a separate house. They are in a new "cycle" in their life where, as a couple, they started their own life and they separated from their birth parent's house. This means they may spend less time around Wessa because they're going to have their life in their own house, and when they have children and they will get married, it will happen the same thing. They're just following a life cycle. Things are different for Lucie and Jesse. They still live under Wessa's roof, and Jesse helps Wessa doing things around the Institute, eats with them, does stuff with them most likely. If my theory about Jesse running the London Institute in the future turns real, it is highly likely and natural that Wessa and especially Will, will strengthen their relationship with Jesse.

I fully believe that Victim (and im 99.9999999Eipie% sure its him) wants the Chosen One captured in his facility for one of two possible reasons: 1) to persuade him (or coerce him) into helping Vic take down Alan (who still hasn’t reckoned with his earliest crimes against Vic) once and for all, or 2) skip the middle step altogether and just straight up steal the Chosen One’s powers for himself (and possibly his clone army.)

I am leaning toward believing the second, because we’ve already seen that TCO is willing to let bygones be bygones towards Alan. He helped ward off the ViraBot from Alan’s computer, fought TDL with Alan and the others without protest, and didn’t attempt to initiate a fight with Alan’s cursor after everything was said and done. He didn’t even care about Alan when he went to recruit TSC’s help in part VI, so I highly doubt that Vic would be able to turn him against Alan with pure rhetoric or appeal to emotions.

You see, I think Vic is building something in his facility. We can see all his worker bees milling around clearly doing something of importance, what that is exactly, we dont know. And we likely wont know until one or two episodes down the line. But, I will hazard a guess and say that he is building something to extract TCO’s powers. What would be the best way to exact righteous vengeance on Alan and his cohorts? That’s right, by turning The Chosen One’s all powerful abilities against the person who wished life upon him. If he bestowed TCO’s powers unto his hoard of loyal minions? EVEN BETTER. whats worse then a single pissed off Chosen One? A Thousand. Alan couldnt beat 2 of them, so suffice to say, if Vic is planning something even remotely like what i’m suggesting; we should all be supremely terrified of the next arc.

if i realize anything else or forgot to add evidence to this theory then i will add it to the tags, so keep watch on those !! knowing my dumb ass i deffo forgot some key shit for this bad boy

edit: gonna add another thought here. i dont think Vic will want to target the outside Internet like The Dark Lord, because he simply isn’t interested in it. The internet didn’t cause him any harm or emotional damage, but ALAN did. He wants revenge on ALAN, so he may use and abuse the internet as he sees fit to gain whatever edge he can, but his ultimate goal isn’t to invade the internet or destroy it or whatever like TDL, no, his vendetta is more personal, more targeted, more conniving. Also, out of universe, we’ve been seeing more and more of the Stick world, like their cities and grasslands, so I’m gonna assume that Vic’s conflict with Alan and TCO+TSC will continue in that setting. IDK, im rambling at this point XD

Teaser 1

A/N: This is an introduction to some of the characters in my TSC future AU, some were created by my friends but most were made by me. My ask box is always open, so let me know your thoughts, questions, and who you think I should do next.

Clary refused to admit Jace won.

Others may have said it wasn’t a competition, but it totally was and Clary lost. It was all the more bitter that she didn’t so much mind the loss, as it had changed her life for the better. Never as a teenager would she have imagined she’d end up here, her heart this full, her home this… loud.

Three kids. That was the compromise. Jace wanted eight, Clary wanted one, so they’d agreed on three. No more, no less. Marriage was, after all, all about compromise.

She was thinking about all of this as she moved through the Institute late one August night, checking on each of their sleeping children. Clary pushed open the door to the first room, the one that used to be Izzy’s, and wondered not for the first time how she could have produced such a daughter.

Gabrielle Celine Herondale, whose first word had been “sparkle” and whose bedroom was decorated with so much pink and frills that teenage Clary would have gagged. However, she felt nothing but pride, knowing Bri had made that comforter herself. Her eldest daughter would be eighteen next month and had been showing interest in running the Institute after her parents’ retirement. She had such confidence. The only evidence of herself Clary saw in Bri came from the desk in her room that was littered in sketchbooks. Even her looks: her hair was more orange-pink than red, her eyes green but speckled through with gold.

Not that her next child was any more similar, Clary thought as she peaked into the next room. While it was more blue than pink and sleek than frilly, it still far more a girl’s room than Clary ever had. Posters of famous Mundane teenagers were tacked up alongside those of famous ballets. Emma Lucine Herondale, who was two days shy of her seventeenth birthday. Emmie probably worried Clary the most. She seemed to have no interest in the Shadowhunter lifestyle these past few years, which was fine except she’d begun to alienate her friends and family at the same time. Even her best friend, Micah, seemed to be held at arm’s length.

Unlike her elder sister, though, there was no doubt Clary’s genes ran through Emmie’s veins. While tall, proud, and beautiful like her father, she had Fairchild eyes. And her hair… her hair fell in long, near white curls. Like her cousin, Ash. Like Ash’s father.

The next three rooms were nearly interchangeable as far as who slept in them. The first two were across the hall from each other, and for the last fourteen years there had been many sleepless nights thanks to the doors opening and closing.

The first belonged to their third child, the one Clary had assumed would be the last. The perfect three, the goal, and another girl. But when Brother Enoch had come in and announced that their three was actually four, that they would be having twins… well it was that moment that Clary knew she had lost.

The room itself wasn’t changed much from the standard Institute bedroom. It was however… a mess. Papers and books littered almost every surface, and those they didn’t were littered in clothes. She could hardly see her daughter– Aurora Paige Herondale, better known as Rory– through the multitude of blankets and pillows stacked on her bed. Looks and personality wise, Rory was certainly the one most like her mother: fiery red hair, introverted, small build. Her twin was pretty much the polar opposite of her.

Aiden James Herondale. Julian Blackthorn had jokingly called them the Blaze Twins, both because their names meant dawn and fire (respectively), and because of the way the pair tended to blaze their way through every Institute they’ve ever visited, Aiden in the lead.

As much as Rory was like Clary, Aiden was a miniature Jace. He had those gold curls Clary loved, that sarcastic troublemaker grin, and the charm that got him out of that same trouble. Something did keep the twins from being perfect clones. Clary remembered when their eye color had settled, the confusion both she and Jace had had, the sadly fond looks Tessa and Jem had given the babies. She just couldn’t fathom how *her* babies ended up with *Alec’s* eyes.

Aiden’s room was also the opposite of Rory’s with that same obsessive neatness Clary had never really understood about his father. It was also stacked wall to wall with books. Two full walls were dedicated solely to bookshelves, and there was a neat stack of them by his bedside. There were books of sheet music and comics on his desk, along with a few loose papers of what he was working on at the moment.

After the twins, Clary was done. She’d agreed to three. She’d had three pregnancies. She’d ended up with four kids, which was four more than she’d ever pictured herself with when she was younger. And Jace had agreed. They had their beautiful family. They were happy.

It was about 8 years later. Clary smiled at the memory as she pushed open the third door, the room with almost as many instruments as the music room itself. Jace had been on business in Wales, while Clary had been attending a local crisis: Emmie had taken some of Bri’s clothes and gotten them dirty. He’d returned a mess. He’d told her all about a boy he’d met in Swansea, whose eyes had reminded Jace of himself at that age.

They knew about the process intimately, thanks to Rafe. There had been a lot of traveling back and forth between New York and Swansea, lots of fine print needed, but they’d had a new addition to their family: Rhys Morgan Rainwind, now Rhys Herondale. They’d been a bit worried, as he was only two months older than the twins, but the three of them immediately took to each other, referring to themselves now as triplets.

That should have been it. It really should have been. Ironic, honestly, for the girl who created the birth control rune to be the one to find out it wasn’t *one hundred percent* effective.

The last room belonged to their youngest. Marylyn Stephanie Herondale, who would be four later that year. Her room now was decorated in a soft pink, filled with books and stuffed animals that her many siblings and family members felt she just *had* to have. She had blond curls like Jace, and green eyes like Clary, and the stubbornness and attitude of both of them combined. Mare could be anything when she grew up, and Clary had no doubt that she would be. Her daughter. Her baby.

So. Six. The agreement had been three, but of course nothing ever went the way Clary planned it. And of course, Jace won. And Clary couldn’t really bring herself to mind. So really, all was as it had always been. Clary closed the door and headed back to the room where her husband was already sleeping, looking forward to what tomorrow might bring.

In tlnd after the break up Alec choose not to move on but Magnus did, and I really like this interpretation for tlnd but I don't know about the canon tsc..cuz of those quotes:

first of all, i fucking lost it at the 'insurance adjuster' quote skjdcks god alec is funny.

I don't think magnus will move on either. that was exactly what happened in tlnd too. he dated people who reminded him of alec - or he dated his friend because he didn't want to date someone with actual potential.

the big difference in canon is that magnus is going to live forever. a lot can change in forever. he can definitely find someone who he will love.

so i do think magnus will fall in love, i do think he will be happy (even though we didn't see that in tlnd) because magnus is immortal. but alec will never be replaced. it's the 'i will love again, but you will always be the love of my life' and 'i will love again, but only you will be the only one i loved enough to marry and have a family with' kind of thing.

as for alec...i am not sure i agree. because alec literally took his own life or tried to (not just in thule) at the thought of losing magnus or protecting magnus.

in an au (not tlnd), i can definitely see alec dating other people or trying to move on. but not in canon. because that cohf quote where he says he could choose someone else - someone who is easier than magnus. but he "steps into the nothingness and chooses magnus".

and isn't that the same in tlnd?

alec can choose to move on. alec can live without magnus. he just doesn't want to.

Magnus is his choice. And that shows how much Alec loves him. Because he could have had the wold (even in canon after he came out and his parents accepted him) but he still chose magnus. Even after he found out about asmodeus and fully understood magnus' immortality issues, he still chose magnus.

Alec repeatedly getting opportunities to walk away and yet repeatedly choosing magnus shows that there isn't another love for Alec. It's just his baby <3

♡ celebrating 10 years of waywood ♡

for those who don't know, today it has been 10 years since the Waywood ship was born with this art, and i need to open up about it.

the tsc fandom usually focus on main and secondary characters, not on minor characters like robert and michael, so this ship could never be too popular. it remained as a totally fanon ship based only on CJ's art, headcanons and fics for a whole year before the COHF release and with it its partial canonization, and then a whole another year until the The Evil We Love release. the canon waywood content has always been sparse. after 4 years without anything, we got the TMI graphic novel vol 6 showing robert seeing michael under the effect of clary's rune. that was beautiful. honestly for a ship between minor characters we've got a lot already.

we only got all of this because during those last 10 years, there was always someone thinking about them. there was always someone creating fic, art, edits, hcs, anything. for several years now i've been one of those few people, i've made art, fic, edit, hcs, playlists, analysis, everything i could think of, honestly. i could be happy thinking about waywood by myself everyday, but that would never be as special as making something that reaches other waywood fans, other people who enjoy robert's character. i know my stuff will never be popular, but if two or three people were happy to find it, it was worth it.

robert and michael changed my life, i love them from the bottom of my heart, and i'm such a happier person because CC and CJ created them. everyone who has ever shipped waywood and hyped the ship to make it happen have my love. it may seem difficult to ship something that doesn't have loads of content, but if the passion is there, it is real. waywood is real to me.

Do I write fanfiction because I genuinely still enjoy the fandom... or am I holding on to something I am long overdue letting go of in favour of finally pursuing my original works full-time?

Because I adore the TLH cast, truly. But I think I’m exhausted now. All the rants about character endings, themes that did not carry over and arcs that did not resolve, frustration over seeing all the more optimistic views when I’m still raging over the disservice to certain characters -- I think I may be done now. Or maybe just FOR now. Characters can belong to a fandom and interpretations to fan authors, but... they don’t feel like mine anymore.

Am I here for the community? Is that it?

It feels wrong to abandon my fics while they remain incomplete. I literally have a full outline for WBITHOM and could tell you what happens in each chapter and what the ending is right now. I’ve just lost the will to write it out in proper form. What does my work mean to anyone anyway? It’s only a wish fulfilment self-insert at the end of the day.

How many times CAN I read about these characters without thinking about what everyone else’s thoughts are, the news of what CC has planned, the fact that TLH has ended and it was kind of a flop no matter how satisfied a large number of people may be and that TWP is next and much more hyped?

The TSC universe has endless possibilities (I still think about sea faring Shadowhunters thanks to discussions with @thevagabondexpress) and yet it feels kind of like it’s running dry. For me, at least. There are still fanfics I like to read; I just don’t think I can write my own. And I’m not that excited about the future installments to canon.

CC follows a formula and the only time she truly feels unpredictable is when she pulls the kind of stunts we saw in TLH where characters were killed for shock value, another character acts as a convenient fix-up for the infamous family tree, characters who were supposed to be best friends but didn’t spend enough time together to feel that close at all, red herrings for character deaths everywhere, just... for crying out loud, everything ended a little Too Well, barring Kit’s death and the anticlimactic deaths of our antagonists (Tatiana’s defeat could have been MUCH cooler). What happened to the promise that it’d be more emotional than TID? Sure, I sobbed when Kit died but that was because it was unexpected, unfair, and he reminded me of someone who I cared about. But that was it. I felt so empty after that when I was reading. I got to the end of the novel and while, yes, it was bittersweet -- it just wasn’t satisfying. I was not satisfied.

ChOT felt cheap. I’ll say it. So many plot beats and decisions felt cheap.

None of my fanfics work to repair any of that. They feel pointless. Why do I bother writing then? My fics change some things -- for instance: Cordelia’s lack of knowledge, letting Matthew actually have something significant and life-changing happen to him in a way that is meant to better his life in the long-term, James actually having more of an identity crisis, him and Matthew having more connection moments -- but does anyone really care about that? I have no idea.

So, I feel like I’m not contributing anything. Therefore, this is either a “I’m done writing fanfic for now” or “I’m hungry and on my period and something will inspire me when I least expect it and you’ll probably see an update sooner than later”. I don’t know. My fic feels like a lot of effort for very little self-satisfaction. I don’t feel that proud of it or many others I’ve done, if that makes sense.

after like about a whole year. i'm the robert lightwood adjacent person here again. i'm catching up with your posts and they're great, i was waiting for your take on cofa and didn't disappoint

i have so many things that nobody else would ever care about to talk about (not just about robert, character, but...) including adding information to my previous texts (there is many more non-sense regarding the circle timeline that we haven't touched yet and i spent way too much time thinking about)

i've been doing a reread of the whole tsc universe and there's only tlh and lbotw left for me so there's many more stuff that i would like to rant about

i'm still very invested in this pile of non-sense (largely because robert remains my fav character) but now it finally got 100% to me that it's impossible to take these books seriously on any aspect

plus i believe there are edits done in the books that you may not have talked about/noticed yet and it's so annoying that this is done without any sort of admission or aknowledgement. like the whole explicitly transphobic joke in city of bones that was quietly removed as if by that point it hadn't been read by many thousands of people already

I've been thinking about the timeline issues, compiling it as a whole, as well and going over different book editions to make that sort of "master post" of changes made in the later editions. I've pointed out the ones I've noticed so I most likely have missed the ones you have in mind. Especially that kind of joke because nothing comes to mind. What the hell, Clare.

It's sort of been difficult to keep the blog in line because I am also itching to rant about the Tales but I feel like, in order to have some form of cohesion, that I should just finish TMI first. Same with GotSM. The itch is reeeal, I tell you. Three-shift work and life in general do slow things down a bit.

sOOoOo I decided to share the headcanons that I have so far about the ColorGang because they makes me happy;33333

for anyone who wants to read the comic.. warning: sad/bad ending. Don't take this the wrong way btw. I genuinely really loved reading this comic!

╰┈➤ I always had that lil' headcanon in my head that ; even though TSC may act like one of the oldest most of the time, he's actually the youngest of the group.

﹌﹌﹌I mean- the StickFight game presented in the series felt like it existed looooong before TSC was even created, so I guess, chronologically and theoretically, RYGB are older than TSC in a certain way, though I like to think they are all the exact same age.

╰┈➤ From Oldest to Youngest, for me it's like that ; Yellow, Blue, Green, Red & The Second Coming!

(Lil' update: Apparently, I heard that Alan Becker confirmed that TSC is a lil' more older than them? So, I changed my headcanon and now from Oldest to Youngest it's actually; The Second Coming, Yellow, Blue, Green & Red! If that ends up being false - because I haven't found the video where Alan says this yet - I'll go back to my old headcanon, probably.)

﹌﹌﹌They are all the same age, but some of them were created minutes before the other. In TSC's case.. One(1) year after RYGB were already created.

﹌﹌﹌They are all ten to thirteen(10-13) years old. (Based/Inspired on that one video where DJ asked how old they were ever since their creation, and Alan responded with 10, 12, 13! lol)

╰┈➤ TSC is often called Orange by his friends and even by Alan, so he feels kinda weird whenever someone calls him 'The Second Coming'. He doesn't mind beind called 'Second' or 'Sec' though.

﹌﹌﹌'TSC' just sounds too vague, and 'The Second Coming' It's such a long name, so he prefers to either be called 'Orange', 'Second', or 'Sec'.

╰┈➤ Red loves all kind of animals and insects. One time, he brought home (aka. Alan's desktop) a gigantic centipede from Minecraft, which scared everyone in the group and even Alan, which led to Red eventually having to return it to Minecraft…

﹌﹌﹌This incident led Alan to never download Minecraft mods that contain giant centipedes again.

╰┈➤ The ColorGang all have PTSD from the last encounter with The Dark Lord. They do not want to lose each other again, much less feel the pain of being deleted again.

﹌﹌﹌They are also now terrified of giant red spiders or anything that may resembles a red spider.

﹌﹌﹌Because of that, they have sleepovers every weekend now! Mainly due to the nightmares everyone has been having ever since that day, so they decided to schedule a sleepover every weekend so everyone could have fun and then platonically cuddle. 🎔

﹌﹌﹌It worked pretty well, and even after they stopped having those nightmares, they are all still having sleepovers together because yes. 🎔

﹌﹌﹌Alan sometimes joins them with his cursor of course, but only when he doesn't have anything planned to do in the morning. Which is.. pretty rare, sadly. But they will treasure every moment.

╰┈➤ I like to think that Alan basically adopted the RYGB at this point, so they are all technically step-siblings, since I also like to think that Second is Alan's child, as he is Alan's creation.

╰┈➤ Green is a prankster. You cannot tell me he isn't because he for sure is. He just gives me those vibes man

╰┈➤ Yellow has very good sleep schedules, despite what a big(?) part of the fandom says. Sometimes he can get carried away and end up staying up all night, though.

╰┈➤ Despite being the youngest, Second acts like the 'mom' of the group. He just gives me those vibes fr

╰┈➤ Blue really loves reading and writing stories. Once, he even wrote an entire story based on the Little Red Riding Hood as he added his friends to the story.

﹌﹌﹌I must say, the group loves hearing Blue's stories, and he loves telling stories to his friends. 🎔

﹌﹌﹌Sometimes he tells animal stories to help Red sleep. It sounds silly and childish, but it's comforting for Red to hear Blue's calming voice, while it's comforting for Blue to tell stories to the sticks(they are sticks not people so-) he loves so much, especially knowing that they love his stories too.

╰┈➤ Red is the most emotional of the group, although he is also one of the strongest mentally.

don't think i've heard from you yet a good old proper rant about the midnight heir, like aside from the character analysis from my ask ages ago. so go crazy please!!! you know my theories on it and i'm absolutely dying to hear anything you might have to say

OKAY SO THE MIDNIGHT HEIR.

As with most TSC old-timers, TMH was my first introduction to TLH. I will say that I'd seen the initial character portraits of the core TLH group already (sans Thomas, who isn't there). I felt immediately drawn to a couple of the portraits, namely Matthew and Cordelia.

I also was very excited because I dug the ~vibes~ of TLH based on those portraits and the things Cassie said about them. So I was PRIMED to love TLH and always had a preconceived notion that it was going to be my favourite series.

TMH did not disappoint. I was a little sad when neither Matthew nor Cordelia of the portraits showed up, but I loved James and Grace (and became a huge Grace defender for YEARS before ChoG. I hated her after ChoG and then she became my blorbo in ChoI. Grace and I have had a rocky road but she's probably tied for my 6th fave TSC character now).

In any case, I adored TMH James. Like, thought he was super cool. He gave off the vibe of Will if Will truly had have choices (without the curse) and made bad ones. Will if he was INSANELY self-destructive. And as someone who almost exclusively gravitates to either unhinged or traumatized characters, that James was a character that I found super compelling.

But I will say that it felt very much like an extension of TID to me, which made me a little sad because I wanted TLH to be its own thing.

Then comes NBS. Now, May 18th, 2015 was a Big Day for me. At 11 PM, NBS was delivered to my Kindle, and I devoured it on my deck outside.

I immediately understood several things upon reading NBS:

I was absolutely correct about TLH being the best series for me.

Matthew Fairchild was my kindred spirit and I had never felt so seen before as I did after reading NBS.

I dug the vibe of TLH, and that vibe, contrary to TMH, was extremely different from the vibe that TID gave off. It's dark academia vs light academia, and I think that as @thevagabondexpress said once, NBS is the point where Cassie decided that TLH couldn't be and shouldn't be a TID extension.

But I also saw a lot of differences in James. These differences felt natural to me - NBS James was a nice, quiet kid that was actually hyper-relatable, and to this day NBS James is by far my favourite James iteration. I assumed that something horrible had happened between NBS and TMH to "damn" him and change him horribly. I was interested in what it might be.

CLS James made me more curious, and then he felt utterly different in CHoG for no reason to me. James is a wibbly-wobbly character to me, but there are absolutely lovely iterations of him in the SS that I really wish we had gotten to know better.

Another thing about TMH that I find fascinating is Grace.

I really liked Magnus's scenes with Grace in it. Grace was kickass - she could fight in TMH (why couldn't she fight in TLH? Jury's out) and she was also very... self-autonomized, if that makes sense. She felt really traumatized and fucked up, but she almost seemed as though she... not liked her status as a blade, but embraced it. I just wanted to say that even though these ships may not be in my "to write about" list soon, it doesn't mean that I won't write about them anymore... just not now

Well, since I mostly write about TSC and TID/TLH, of course some ships are going to be from there. I want to underline that THIS IS NOT AN ANTI POST, btw. Aat least it doesn't seem anti to me, I don't get deeper into the specific reasons from canon I don't want to write about them at the moment, I am being very vague here and about my personal reasons why I can't

The first ship is Jordelia. I was so invested in them when I first read COG, and back then I even began a long fic about them. I had playlists made and all, had a ton of ideas. COI and then COT sunk the interest I had and now it's below ground, basically. This is probably the first CC series where I don't care about the main ship at all. After my reread, my feelings got even stronger, but I do not let them get my down. I tried writing a fic with them alone, but I couldn't bring myself to. Every time I think about them, my mind is blank. I like to include them in other fan fics because I enjoy writing their dynamics with other characters, though.

The second is Gracetopher. I like them enough, but they are hard to write to me, and I often am scared of disappointing people with my characterization of them (since I know a lot of people who like them). The last fan fic of them I posted got some backlash from one specific user, and that also turned me off because, not going to lie, I am afraid that if I post a new fic, this user is going to show up to criticize me again and I don't know if I can take it a second time. So, since they are hard to write for me, I just try to include them in my other works if I can, but I am not planning to write them (even though I have a few ideas on my fic notebook).

The last ship is probably Gabrily, because it's the other TID ship I've written about. I like them, of course, but I don't have any ideas about them at the moment and I want to focus on something else :)
