Just a little headcanon:

As a child, Crosshair's hair was dark except for just a small white strand somewhere at his temple. But with age, the white strands became more and more numerous - due to genetic mutations, the hair on his head lost color in sections until it became completely white.

Maybe in just a few years he'll start saying that the amount of stress his brothers are causing made him go gray in his cadet years.

I just imagine the moment Galaxia is back with Meta Knight she immediately tells him "Either you adopt that child, or I will."
