Out of Sonic's three friends in Frontiers, Knuckles was the only one handled fairly well in the base game of Frontiers. Besides his arc making no sense (he's left his island before lol) his characterization was solid in my opinion.
Meanwhile Tails is a puppet used to vent grivances against his character from the 2010s (even though ironically he does more in Forces than in base game Frontiers. Why is Tails saying this? He wouldn't say this, someone who is criticizing his character would say this)
and Amy got the life sucked out of her. She's boring at best and toxic at worst (I seriously hate the moment when she guilt trips Sonic, why did this need to happen. It's especially awful because she's aware of how awful it is being trapped, yet doesn't care about Tails or Sonic's concern for him)
Idk everyone praises this game as "fixing the characters and putting them back on track" but I don't really see it.

I love the comic book writing sensibility that Frequency has, like how Three and Five's ending is great for the story being told but if it were a published comic it would still leave them on the table for if a future writer wanted to use them.
whats funny is that despite doing my best to keep in line with dc comics/comic writing sensibilities throughout the fic (staying as comics-accurate as possible in terms of continuity/tone/characterization/story elements etc) that particular comic writing reality was one that was like. kind of a genuine anxiety that i didn't know i had until i started writing this thing.
ive said before that in the original concept for Frequency all of the clones (besides Thad) were going to end up dead. whether it was via killing each other or unintentionally being the instrument of their own demise (disney villain style). obviously it changed because creating an entire narrative about this one character's redemption arc and then not allowing any of the other villains to have a shot at redemption felt hypocritical and like. mean. not to mention antithetical to the whole ethos of the story.
but the reason why killing off all the other clones was my first instinct is partially because i had this kinda subconscious recoil to the idea that any of them would actually continue on after the story was over.
like, because i was trying to stick to canon so much, while figuring out the story a thought came up a couple times that basically went like, "okay, well, if this was a real comic, then...". and inevitably i had a realization that if this WAS a real comic, my original clone characters would be canonized, and therefore available to any future writer who wanted to yank them out of their respective endgames and inject them into other stories. which i Did Not Like the Idea Of.
classic "making up a guy to get mad at" except it was more "making up a reality to get anxious about". because obviously no matter how much it sticks to canon, Frequency still exists in a fan-created space.
but! i'd never made up original characters to put in my own fanmade stuff before and was definitely feeling protective. because all those original clones i made had yknow: a story purpose and narrative function to facilitate the actual key characters, Thad and Bart. the idea of them being removed from that context in any capacity, even if it was in the hands of a good writer, made me have this gut "no STOP you're ruining it!!!!" reaction.
they were all made for Frequency, and to foil Thad as a character, i didnt like the idea of Three being brought back as a one-note villain or Jude and Nathaniel getting folded into the wider Flash cast of allies. and none of them were made to be main character material. plus the character roster at DC is already uhh Extremely Stacked i genuinely did not want the takeaway to be "and here's the nEW ADDITIONS TO THE FLASH FAMILY!" because that wasnt the intention
anyway i got over it lol. i still did my best not to leave any loose ends, and have each ending be wholly satisfying on its own, and ideally the oc clones basically continue on offscreen while the true adventures are based around Thad and Bart. but yeah it felt right to leave off on that note (and served the story much better than killing everybody off)

Currently I’m pretty much exclusively a 9-1-1 writer, but in the past I wrote a lot of Flarrowverse (do they still call it that?). I also have published fics for Fantastic Beasts and a few anime (Given, Haikyuu, Saiki K). Given the number of Bnha wips i have locked away in the vault it’s amazing I don’t have anything published for that.

This probably has to be The Crimes of Queenie Goldstein, in which Queenie is put on trial for her actions during the war. Don’t @ me but Queenie turning traitor was bu far the most interesting part of the Crimes of Grindelwald (the only interesting thing, really). There could be such an interesting story between her and Tina if only JKR would let the movies out of her grasp.

Fuck, idk if I have a happiest ending fic, a lot of them tend to not have that much story arc. (A lot of established relationship fluff or smut lmao). I guess if I had to pick one it would probably be How Eddie Learned To Stop Worrying and Embrace The Kitten Life.
Do you get hate on fics?
Not since that one anti-olicity fic that I wrote while deep in the trenches of Flarrowverse discourse, which I totally deserved :/. I have regrets. Also I should probably orphan/delete that one if I haven’t already. In my defense, high school. I have learned.

Yea lol. I think my 9-1-1 stuff has been almost exclusively smut. Idk how it happened. (I do know how it happened smut is fun to write)

What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Ok. After the end of the Heroes of Olympus Series, but before Trials of Apollo was announced, I tried my own hand at writing the sequel that was clearly coming based on all the loose threads in the final book. It was going to be a Solangelo quest to save the Oracle of Delphi from Python, while Akhys tries to poison Percy to turn him into an evil god(?). Half the details have been lost and I desperately want to remember them, because I haven’t attempted anything nearly as cool or ambitious since then. The first 5 chapters are posted on my ao3 (Will Solace and the Oracle’s Cry) and I still think high school me had the most interesting characterization of Will out of everyone else on the internet at the time. Even if it is still very 2015.

I think I’m good at getting into the heads of different characters. Understanding their motives and weaknesses.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Editing.
Lmao I have a lot of weaknesses but I definitely struggle the most with trying to look back on or change things I’ve already written, even when it’s necessary.
Also my tendency to just drop fics if I stop working on them for too long. Rip to my wip graveyard.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
That’s a minefield I’m not willing to play in. Unless it’s Chinese. Very limited amounts of Chinese. Or like, a pet name or phrase that’s already ubiquitous in fandom so I’m not risking anything.
First fandom you wrote in?
Percy Jackson!! That Will Solace quest is the first thing I ever wrote! I definitely had a tendency to jump into the deep end with new hobbies lmao. Like my first ever cosplay that took me 3 years to complete.
Favorite fic you've written?
I think my favorite fic is always going to be the one I’m currently working on writing. But I am very proud of the silly little dramatic ironies in In Hindsight, which I wrote entirely over one long lunch the day after 7x04 broke me. Also I have to shoutout Teacher’s Pet, that one ruler spanking fic nobody ever reads because it’s Eddie/Ana lmao. I enjoyed putting in a bunch of tiny incompatibilities between them. So, uh, I guess my favorite thing in my own writing is dramatic irony?

(and side note here id LOVE to hear you ramble all about your Omari au)
Ahem,,,, if it is alright with you then,,,,,, I will talk about my OMARI Basil then,,,,
To answer your question, he was planned to be the delinquent of the group (as per typical swap aus), though over time, I really began to sit down and think about it the more swap aus began to pop up around the fandom. I didn't really like the idea of being a carbon copy of various other omari aus in specific, so during the time I have been absent on here I began to slowly revamp the AU over time. I had to start over with what I originally had in the first place since a lot of the au things in my take on it also had contributions by followers as well!
For Basil, his first concept was initially a delinquent take... but the thing that caused a problem with that was the fact that I had planned for him to also play a sort of "detective" role in this universe, as I had written a short snippet on Basil having caught on to something suspicious going on between the older siblings and Sunny's sudden disappearance.......
Frankly, as much as a delinquent Basil is my darling concept of all concepts, I had to, unfortunately, push it to the side and alter his role in this AU to fit with the revamped look I was going for him... therefore fully integrating him into his "detective" role. In a way though, looking through Mari's perspective, he's sort of a clashing force with her and is equivalent to an antagonist in her own story (but! Keep in mind, Mari in this AU isn't the Mari who you should be sympathizing for.... an unreliable narrator who happens to be a wolf in sheeps clothing....).
As for the emotions, while a lot of people tend to view the emotions being assigned to the characters as their possible role in RW (the happy-go-lucky, the perfect student, the delinquent), for mine I ended up making it were each friend had 2 main emotions.... Basils would be anger and sorrow (Aubrey and Kel tend to have anger as their second emotion, though that is still up for debate! I still have a few things to work out :3). So, in a way you could say that in Headspace they were only ever seen as a one-dimensional character by Mari/Hikkiko, while in the real world, they had a even bigger "mess" of emotions that they all dealt with. In turn, Basil's concept strayed further away from the path of delinquent and more into a path which.... ehehe..... obsession as a concept is such a fun thing to play around with, don't you think?
Just as much as he plays the "investigator", he also is meant to be a parallel of what Mari/Hikkiko is. Obsession has always been a part of his character, and in doing so, you could say I played around with it until I found quite a nice concept with this. Mari/Hikkiko both have a need to keep Sunny around as the perfect brother and therefore paint his Headspace counterpart to their own liking.... while Basil in turn has, on some level, a need to imitate Sunny as closely as he can. Both are a form of obsessions I have given them, and in a way, the only reason Basils is a more "lighter" version of this is because Aubrey, Kel, Hero (sort of), Polly, his grandmother, and Faraway Town as a whole have been there to guide him on a better path. Though his obsession to keep Sunny's memory alive by becoming like him is still there, it's not to say that he doesn't have people to talk some sense into him-- meanwhile Mari does not have that type of support.
Obsession stems from love, at least, in their case. And in the end, it really depends on whether or not they have people who are willing to reel them back into a state of sanity. Basil was, at least in terms of my omari lore, viewed as a delinquent at one point, though he never acted out aggressively towards others unless provoked enough and only ever kept to himself.... eventually the town residents accepted the fact that this was just his way of grieving and treated him with patience and respect, especially with the fact he took it upon himself to go around town and helping around with the little things, though especially with gardening and photography.
it's not to say though, that he doesn't have some... worrying habits. That as in, most of his plants being replaced with tulips and most of the heads of certain plants being chopped off with garden shears, left to rot. While Basil mimics his best friends habits, he isn't exactly the best at fully hiding his feelings and emotions as Sunny was able to. No amount of masquerading will change the fact that once he's laid his sights on you, it'll only be a matter time before he seeks for your head on a silver platter.

It's never serious and he doesn't really care about them swearing, he's just not going to take the blame for it.
LMAO SAME the scenarios where he cares about language:
They're swearing around not just him but one of the Adults (because he just knows he is going to get blamed for that)
When he says something in front of them that is particularly creative or that they clearly have never heard before (once again, if they repeat THAT it's gonna get back to hopper and he doesn't need hopper pissed at him. Again.)
If they are just like, dropping cusses left and right willy nilly to an extreme. This is the one older sibling thing I'll accept because sometimes kids just go ham on cursing and you're just like "okay you know I don't care about an occasional f bomb but you need to calm the fuck down". Like there is definitely a limit to how much cursing you will tolerate from a younger sibling 😂

well most importantly to me, the panel art of the latest upd8 was absolutely spectacular!!!!

painter's would probably either be "The Golden Age of Grotesque" by Marilyn Manson or "PAINT YOU WITH MY LOVE", also by Marilyn Manson (can you tell i really love Marilyn Manson's work LMAO)
annnnd bruteforce's is either "Dangerous Tonight" by Alice Cooper or "WOW" by Marilyn Manson (im so sorry for the overabundance of Marilyn Manson i just think his music fits particularly well with these two goobers :'D)

me writing about trindle's korean heritage in my fics: if i don't get every detail 100% right, my ancestors are actually going to kill me. is this word spelled with a ㄱ or a ㄲ? if i don't get this right i'm going to fail...at being korean, i guess.

love to imagine yves being particularly antagonistic towards orin. i mean, she's a high priestess of bhaal and his chosen, quite literally god's favourite princess and the most interesting girl in the world. she'd be tormenting orin 24/7 that the whole amnesia and scooping her brain out ordeal was well deserved.
and i think the moment she gets her memories back, she'd be howling!! laughing!! having a little giggle to herself!! finally orin does something remotely competent! but once again she fucked up big time and didn't kill her outright now yves has to put her back into her place again ❤️😔
#my character inspo for her is like lucille crimson peak and portal 1 glados ...#like i think she has a very calm albeit sinister demeanor... she says very condescending stuff in a very bored way.#dead three era/peak bhaalspawn era yves was very jaded abt everything. like her characterization is very based on that note you find in the#underdark where they talk abt how bhaalspawns feel euphoria when they kill people. so it's like that for her crank it up to 100x so she#doesnt rlly care abt anything bc nothing compares to when she's doing her ritual killings for bhaal </3#so when she gets her amnesia and she forgets abt the killing euphoria she actually develops a personality for once lol#i also hc that she feels that euphoria again on the act 1 durge scene but it ended up scaring her bc it felt /too/ good#and it made her hesitant to listen to the durge bc she knows what she felt is NOT normal#also being a kelemvor cleric she's not supposed to be happy abt death wtf .. so she's like what is going ON here ...

wrote a bunch of words on my rambled-about fate au last night that I could post, but I feel. honestly a little embarrassed over throwing late night writing out into the world orz,, still glad I have it out somewhere to iron out later though!

#lulas's randomness#not that I haven't thrown late night writing out into the world before but god. I feel like the characterization and plot progression#in this one is particularly clunky. and ig I worry more about reception bc this is for once going to be a Full Story orz#fate based vr world au#also honestly I fret about my oberon characterization a bit too much sometimes.#arjuna and jiang ziya are largely fine bc I've been p divergent from fate characterization for both of them (jiang ziya in particular) for#while lol. but oberon I want to at least feel like oberon bc unlike the other two he's a bit closer to a fate original I think?#(influences from midsummer's night dream and vortigern aside)#I will say though. writing this has made me think I should really write jiang ziya/arjuna more. they're very sweet in my head#and it'd be nice to write them out for other people to see
