harringrove angst (kind of mean steve for those who aren't into that)

thinking of steve and billy having bad fights after starting a relationship, and during those fights steve always brings up the night at the byers.

steve doesn’t really know why he does it, him and billy have made amends, they’re together now and they love each other. except, he kind of does know why he brings it up. it wins him the argument. billy goes quiet and hurt and they don’t fight anymore.

because billy doesn’t want to be like neil, wants to show steve (show everyone) that he’s better. he knows he fucked up, that he’s not perfect and probably never will be, but he thought steve had forgiven him. that they’d forgiven each other, because steve apologized to him too. and how can billy bring that up without looking like he’s making excuses? can’t say you hit me too or you know what happened before with my dad or what was i supposed to think about what i found?

eventually steve does it so much that they stop fighting completely. and, yeah, steve no longer has to deal with the arguments, he and billy don’t scream at each other until they’re both in tears anymore. it’s the best they’ve gotten along since they got together or, well, ever.

but he’s also lost the shy smiles billy gives him when it’s just the two of them, and the little laugh that billy is embarrassed of, the one that hiccups out of him and scrunches up his nose. and, most importantly, he’s lost the quiet nights where billy opens up to him, about the abuse from his dad, and how he felt when his mom left, how much he misses her and how he wishes she’d loved him enough to take him with her.

maybe steve starts getting angrier, and more hurt as time goes on and billy doesn’t open back up. he decides that if billy is going to withhold things from him, steve should start being able to take things from billy too. they still have sex, billy still sighs into steve’s neck when steve slides into him but steve starts not kissing billy, turning his head away when billy tries, turning billy on his belly when billy gets too persistent. leaves billy to clean up by himself as soon as they’re done rather than stay in bed holding each other, enjoying the afterglow together like they’ve always done before. stops taking billy out with him when he hangs out with the party or the other teens, stops telling billy when he goes out at all.

and so, the resentment starts to build up, for both of them, and they’re right back where they started, fighting and screaming at each other. but neither of them will leave. they love each other, after all. steve refuses to have another failed relationship, because what does that say about steve? that he isn’t good enough, loveable enough, worthy enough, just not ever enough. and as much as billy doesn’t want to be like neil, he also doesn’t really want to be like his mom either. doesn’t want to abandon steve like his mom abandoned him, knows how it affected him, how it made him feel, and he won’t do that to someone he cares about.

so they stay stuck in this endless cycle because maybe steve loves billy and billy loves steve, but they don’t always like each other, and they definitely don’t trust each other.

Involves Xero's attempt at an assassination, or it could be literally just any guard controlled by the Radiance

PK and WL need to talk about something private, and WL looks at the tiny vessel tagging along by her wyrm's side

"Should it be here?"

"It wouldn't understand anything anyway."

"Still, it's...a little..."

He sighs lightly, "Yeah, I get where you're coming from... Vessel, come here."

He kneels down and orders them to sit by the door and wait for them while they talk, says he'll come pick them up once they're done and not to move, then the two go to talk on the balcony and close the door behind them

At some point, Xero/the guard bursts in and attacks PK in the middle of the conversation, managing to take them by surprise and so gets one good swing in before PK darts away and retaliates, pinning them down with soul blades, though he has to keep his wife from killing them on the spot - he doesn't want to be so hasty, knowing they're infected and not themself. He pulls out the sword from his chest and that's when they realise, it's covered in void...

Child harm/near death TW beyond this point

After a moment of shock White Lady, who's closest to the doors, runs out and all her husband can hear is a horrified, heartbroken scream. He feels nauseous, his stomach twisting into knots and feeling like his heart is in his throat as he runs out after her. He sees her in tears, cradling a tiny bundle soaked in void. There's- there's so much void. It covers the floor where he left their child vessel and soaks through his lady's shawl and clothes as she cradles them in her arms.

For a moment he's paralysed, before he just snaps. He flies back onto the balcony, screaming at the possessed guard that he'll kill her, he'll make her pay for this, and he slays them in his rage (something he'll regret and feel ashamed of later), still hitting and screaming at Her well after the possessed person is dead and she can't hear him anymore.

He collapses, panting, near tears, and just gets himself up and stumbles out the door and towards the two, he wants to see how bad it is for himself.

Flower survives, but just barely. They had multiple stab wounds and lost their left arm, if not for their parents immediately healing them they'd be dead. They're barely older than 5, still so very little and defenceless, PK is horrified at how could anyone hurt a baby this young and helpless (hypocrite), even if they're not alive.

They're still on bed rest because that was so much damage and their mother doesn't leave their side and their father only leaves when necessary. They still don't realise Flower's alive and they know they shouldn't be so attached but it still feels like their baby and they can't just leave them. WL spends the entire day by their side, gently stroking their hair and horns with her now permanently void stained hands and softly coos and sings to them

Of course, they quickly realise they ARE alive because no way in hell a toddler is getting this hurt and NOT crying and screaming the second they wake up <3

Which just makes this situation so much worse

fearing death as a trans person hits different. if you died never coming out, changing your name or just doing whatever makes you feel happy with your body it will never be shown in your funeral and everyone will never know you as who you were inside. something about if you died and you DID come out, you did do everything that made you happy abt your body but the one relative in your family that didn't accept you had to fix up your funeral they misgender you and place the wrong name on your grave anyway. or if the relatives that did accept you fix up your funeral with the correct pronouns and name but those who didnt will still misgender and deadname you even when you die. idk man.

#i hve vs super mario bros on my switch bc i wanted to chronologically play through the storied hero timeline and i couldnt find a rom #I think it has the same appeal as spid.erverse kinda except instead of multiple different people filling the same role as sp.iderman its #the same guy it's still mario but the changes come from things going differently at certain points in his life do you GET ME!!#LIKE!!!!!!!! MOST OF IT'S DETERMINED BY WHAT HAPPENS IN YOSHIS ISLAND AND THERES ALTERNATIVE PATHS IF HE WINS OR FAILS!!! GAME OVERS HAVE #CONSEQUENCES THAT BRANCH INTO THEIR OWN TIMELINES MARIO CAN END UP WITH DIFFERENT PARENTS ITS SO COOLLLLLL #and i love how each of the major branches has their own theme like “action hero” is the one with all the gameplay-focused #mainline titles “storied hero” is the one with all the M&L rpgs and more plot-heavier stuff and “blue collar hero” is this third one #with all the donkey kong titles and wackier/arcade titles WHERE i might add his design had a blue shirt and red overalls #and the tl builds off of those games into nsmb so i like to hc that he kept his early 80s design well into the later games <-autistic sorry #AND how thetimelines represent how their different backstories have influenced their personalities and thought processes a little like #what happened to mario in the blue collar branch like he either becomes EVILL!!!! and kidnaps donkey kong leading to dkjr or #divorces peach and has a self isolation arc after nsmb2 whats going on w him...#and i LOVE how all of them have a sort of common event where bowser invades the mushroom kingdom and in each timeline its #represented by a different variation of the original super mario bros game with action hero's event being represented by smb itself #which is fitting since thats the branch where mario and luigi ended up with their intended parents and everything went as planned #and i think a general theme here is that the more things go against intention the sillier it gets dont even get me STARTED on the time #travel shenanigans in bottom right which lead into the handheld remakes i love this so much its unreal #i do wish paper mario wasnt explained away as a dream but like thats its whole other world and art style and itd be difficult #to fit it into one of the major branches so i get why it was done. i probably wouldve just given it its own isolated bubble in the corner #at that rate i probably wouldve added so much more shit to the main tl im talking game&watch games i look at this and i see a pitch #for a full feature length autism production you understand

i feel bad bc i think my dad was disappointed in the schaum tortes... they were something his grandma used to make and we used her recipe but she probably knew a lot more things that were just common sense to her so she didn't write them down. but we looked up some stuff online and i think we can get it right next time

#for one thing i didn't know the egg whites should be room temp #and they needed to be whipped to more than just frothiness BEFORE the sugar and vanilla get added #and i really had no idea what the dessert even was lol #i only met his grandma once when i was really little. she lived to be like a hundred #but he was really happy when i made her fruit salad recipe (ambrosia salad) for thanksgiving #i like it even more than his mom's recipe which is what i always had growing up but it's more complicated bc it uses lemon curd #and my parents and i are not the world's best cooks lmao #i mean i can follow a recipe but real cooking is like. a skillset.

try as i might, i simply can't make Kyoko and Katsuya's relationship work right in my head. Katsuya was apparently just an intern teacher when they met, so you could say that he was 18-19 at the time (even if it's a stretch bc he's implied to be in his mid twenties), but that still leaves Kyoko 15 going on 16 which is definitely not great. i just don't see how Katsuya would realistically fall in love with Kyoko unless he was a creep, which is obviously not the sort of person he's being portrayed as. it also makes Katsuya's family look a lot more sympathetic for opposing their relationship because uh. that actually is the sort of thing you would realistically have a problem with.

judging from the series' themes, the point of the age gap is likely to show how pursuing a relationship that society disapproves of can isolate the couple and cut off all potential support, thus sticking with the theme of cruelty creating more cruelty, or in this case simply more trauma. Tohru ended up taking on a huge emotional burden because apart from Katsyua's father, no one was around to help Kyoko through her grieving process, to the point that 3 y/o Tohru was literally all that she had.

(it might also be a semi-deconstruction of another shojo trope: the high school protagonist marrying her adult love interest. in this case, being a teenager who marries an adult isn't as easy as overcoming a parent's disapproval. you won't get any support from the rest of the family, especially not extended family, and you'll likely be treated as an outsider for the rest of your time with them. if something happens to rupture your idyllic life (like oh, say, your husband's untimely death), you won't have a safety net and life will get extremely tough. definitely not the triumphant leap into womanhood most teenage girls are dreaming of.)

anyway, i think if i had the opportunity to change one thing about Fruits Basket, i would reconfigure the age gap. the plot-mandated scandal is the biggest issue, but that could've been accomplished just fine by making Kyoko an 18 y/o high school student and Katsuya an 18-20 y/o intern teacher or tutor. still a bit problematic, but at least it's believable that they'd pursue a relationship and doesn't paint Katsuya in an unforgivably bad light. the fact that Katsuya is courting a former student (one who hasn't even officially graduated high school yet) would be enough to make tongues waggle, especially with her delinquent past. no need to make it any squickier than that.

#when i have to picture them together i either age kyoko up or age katsuya down #there's just no acceptable justification for their relationship otherwise #also their marriage would legally be on shaky ground bc kyoko wasn't 18 yet!#even in the 90s you had to get your parents written permission if you wanted to get married before turning 18 #(the legal adult age is 20 but you can get married w/o permission at 18)#and i don't know if kyoko's parents would've gone as far as giving them written consent #even if they were obviously not interested in caring for her anymore #i'm pretty sure the prequel revealed that katsuya's dad officiated the wedding #which wouldn't be considered legal by any means #so yeah. making her 18 would at least cut out that sticky situation #fruits basket #kyoko honda #katsuya honda #tough topics #edited for your convenience #(<-added some clarification and capitalized the names)

Anyway. I'm having a real bad time these days and my only solace, my only salvation, are my sisters and my brother.

#rapha talks #so this rant is on one hand to let you know why i'm not very active right now and on the other hand just to rant bc i needed to get it out #on telling her that there is a real imbalance a giant red flag in her rship with the guy she tries to tell me i'm being patriarchal #Is she fucking kidding me #did she get a lobotomy in secret and that's why she's dropped her brain off and is acting in that unrecognizable way????#because we (siblings+father) are truly starting to believe that she's actually sick for acting like that #she tried to explain that she's free and she can do whatever she wants because it's her life and she can't resist her desires #????????????#I AM CONFUSION #i know you guys don't have all the details in hand but please please tell me we're not blowing things out of proportion #because i'm seriously starting to doubt my sanity my morals and my grasp on reality #i'm having a bad depressive episode right now and the one person who was 50% of my support system is gone #(as an added layer of unhealthiness: the guy in question is 23 + a blackafrican immigrant in morocco undocumented - she's white and settled #yeah there ABSOLUTELY NO aspect of this whole thing that's either sane or moral or acceptable #and i am going crazy and my father is in very bad shape he's not sleeping or eating anymore #and she refuses to question herself or think over her actions #oh and the other thing is that they both (parents) want me to come home to get a job back where i worked last year #her because she wants the money i could bring (my salary last year wasn't mine it all went to the family)#him so i can take a flat and take my youngest sister with me because i'm the second mother and she can't stay with Her and her lover #and i am so tired #so very tired

has anyone gone to another country for college? lmk

#I need to figure out my logistics wkdnwkd #I’m hoping I can maybe use my student loans to pay for my flight and shipping my things but idk. i might have to set up a gofundme to help #get there bc the tuition is just boarding plus food I think? and some healthcare added too #I’m not sure if I’ll be allowed back home depending on how my parents take the news that IM GOING but uh we’ll see #I submitted my application so we’ll see if I even get in anywhere. but if I don’t it wasn’t meant to be that’s how I’m gonna think of it #I’m trying to look at colleges in the USA too but I’m just so uninterested I’ve already done that #also I wanna leave the US! and idk where in the US I’d even go if I went to college here #that’s what my parents want but…😵‍💫. suddenly it’s ‘don’t worry about the money’ when they don’t want me leaving the US 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️#I’m still gonna be paying for it all myself with loans anyway it’s insulting for them to talk to me about money #esp abt me saving money bc they charge me rent each month like how can I do that…anyway!#t

#imm so fixated but i hate pokemon so fucking much so its weird #or well not pokemon i guess but gamefreak & greedy old people #i saw that pokemon home is subscription based and it costs. 16 dollars a year. to use. and transfer your pokemon #which is such a fucking joke its unreal #pkmn bank was 5 dollars a year on 3ds and that was stupid as fuck too #also saw on eshop that you can buy scarlet & violet as a 'bundle' for 120.99 #literally jst full price of the games added together +1 cent #awesome bundle deal!!!#i feel bad for clueless parents that buy their kids both games not realizing they just bought the same thing twice #i think that pokemon should not be legally allowed to market 2 games at once for having version exclusives simply bc they know theres #suckers that will buy both even though its the same game #different thing but that new fire emblem game coming out made me really mad too #why does it have DLC before the game is even out???? thats not how dlc is supposedto work >_<

Fave part of browsing aita-type subs is when some absolute horrendous parent has the gall to ask "am i in the wrong?? :'(" and get torn to shreds in the comments
