Hey there mr tv and film, could you stop making hard hitting narratives around mothers and daughters? I am just a girl in a world and I cannot cry over this anymore. Thanks!

if there’s one thing I humbly, desperately request from season 3 when it drops it’s that they give us a solid number for how many years have passed since the movie so I can start editing baby Mattie into the bg of the scenes >:)

I'm surprised hilda isn't more popular amongst the forgetmenauts/oh hellos/crane wives crowd actually. If i had to pick a show that has similar vibes to them it'd be that one for sure

Spoilers for Hilda seasons 2, 3 and the movie
I really really appreciate how detailed Hilda is. Like how something that happened a movie and a season ago is referenced. In s2 ep5 at the end Victoria is sent to some unknown land, which in s3 ep8 turns out to be the Fairy Isle.
In the movie, a lot of very small things that are really easy to miss re-appear. Like in the s2 finale Frida trips and hurts her ankle, and in the movie David and Frida mention her leg being hurt. Habits of the trolls are explained in the movie are briefly shown in the s2 finale. And there are just so many tiny details in s2 finale that are revisited in the movie
i love this show sm i could talk abt it sm

One of the things I'm glad abt with s3 is that Hilda is far and away the shortest out of her frida and david

personally I’m reconciling my worries abt Hilda’s dad showing up in s3 with the fact that it’ll be so funny if he does & tries to just rejoin Johanna and Hilda where he left off. just walks into the house to find his ex and daughter perfectly happy & living with a bunch of random creatures now. imagine coming back to your family after however many years and finding out you’ve been replaced by a tiny invisible guy, a nisse and a weird dog

This is super random but like i love how Hilda s3 explains that Hilda is vegan without telling us she's vegan ??
Like it just makes sense for her character and the story.
She orders veggie soup bc it' the only good option, her mom makes cuecumber sandwhiches and tells her aunt not to cook fish bc it'll upset Hilda and this and that.
She's 13, she' learning abt the world. Ofc she's vegan♡

Unrelated to the owl house, what other shows do you like?
I have,,,,,,a Lot so I’ll give a few. Cue the advertising wethksrthrkjtrkjt
Amphibia: a lot of people into toh like Amphibia so that’s probably not a big surprise. It’s very sweet n I love me some found family, very cute.
Infinity Train: existential horror packaged as a kids show??? hell yeah! I really hope this one gets renewed, so I suggest watching it and spreading the news around!! the writing is spectacular and I love every character. well, I love them or I love to hate them, which is just as good.
Trollhunters: I mentioned this one earlier. vvv good writing and I HIGHLY recommend giving it a chance, seeing as it’s gonna get a movie someday. It’s sort of like Infinity Train in how its sort of part of a series of 3 shows, Trollhunters, 3Below and Wizards. The amount of DETAIL put into the plot is incredible and I WISH that were me.
Kipo: criminally underrated even after it ended. it’s mutants in a wasteland, all the main characters are poc, gay rights (gay is said!! a MAIN character says “im gay” on screen!!!! that’s HUGE guys!!!), found family, and an overall fun time. not to mention beautiful and has a great soundtrack. also one of the villains is basically a white supremacist and she suffers an awful fate so give that a look.
Ducktales: look I k n ow funny ducks but like,,,,its abt the found family. also the really good animation in some bits. it’s very heartwarming and every character has a notable personality to them and it really just feels like a big crackhead family. I get a couple ideas for writing the owl fam from this exact show. also in s3 they have a canon lesbian and I thought that was Neat.
Carmen Sandeigo: pretty bisexual (I do not take constructive criticism) thief hijacking her old homes plans to ruin the world. it’s just an overall fun time, and I LOVE Julia. please give me Julia back, I miss her.
The Dragon Prince: this is SUCH a good show. amazing writing, animation, characters, ideas, everything! set in a world where humans live alongside elves and dragons, the magical creatures are at war with the humans bc of Bad Guy Dark Magic. It’s actually way cooler than it sounds and I love how they execute every character. gay rights, found family, ditching abusive bio family, dragon babies, it’s the one show I recommend the MOST out of this entire list.
Hilda: it’s really just a cute little story with fun magical creatures. plus a little bit of horror in there. it should be getting a second season eventually so go check it out!
there are a bunch of other shows I want to watch but haven’t gotten around to yet, like the Last Kids on Earth, Camp Cretaceous, Umbrella Academy, etc. do tell me if any of you look at what I suggested and end up liking em!

Did you see that CAOS video by Friendly Space Ninja on youtube? It's over an hour long but it's about the wasted potential and how things went downhill.
i watched it! ykw, i think he had some good points. i don't agree with errything but i defo think he knew what he was getting at and i did agree with quite a few things. i agree that zelda's treatment of hilda was freakin' horrible. i agree that there was a lot of wasted potential in the series as a whole. that plots (like harvey being descended from witch hunters, or theo's aunt dorthea's presence never being fully explained, etc) just got dropped and?? dissolved into thin air, ig?? yeh, p shitty stuff.
i disagree with his assessment of lilith as far as the first two seasons go at least. i think some of what seems inconsistent with her is intentionally so bc it's a matter of determining when lilith is being lilith and when she is being whoever/whatever she feels she needs to be to best manipulate sabrina. i also think in the first two seasons some of lilith's seemingly inconsistent behavior is due to her internal conflict as a character, as she truly confronts how horrible lucifer is to her, and her goals are genuinely unclear to her as she reassess going forward what it is she actually wants, what it is to get this, and what going after power for herself will mean if she successfully detaches herself from her abuser. s3 and beyond tho?? esp s4?? yeh, u lost me there, i think that was just inconsistent bc the whole show was becoming incoherent and. well. stupid. and not fun stupid, just stupid stupid.
on that note, i disagree with this guy abt lucifer-- again, at least as far as the first two seasons go. i felt the devil was as threatening as he needed to be for the second season. he posed actual danger but was not a completely invincible force and actually, i don't think he should've been invincible. i think that he wasn't invincible was the whole point. the witches' and warlocks' way of living and total devotion to satan, even at the cost of their selves, of their souls, isn't necessarily worth it when the being they're serving is just as flawed and perhaps even as fallible as they are. i agree in s3 and beyond tho, lucifer was just too damn ridiculous to take srsly and that the quality of the character was bogged down for it.
same thing with hell. couldn't tell hell srsly during and after s3, the mythology behind it seemed all bogged up and like. sabrina moringstar throwin parties and all that? idk, that was tonally inconsistent and i don't think it was on purpose.
disagree with this dude on the front that the supporting characters were boring. i didn't find any of them boring. i liked sabrina's friends a lot!! i adored the weird sisters! i thought they all had the potential to be interesting, imho it was just a matter of them being forgotten in the writing and pushed to the back burner that took that potential away from the characters. conceptually tho and in the beginning, i personally felt the supporting cast was solid.
as for nick seeming to exist only for sabrina? well, this goes back to the first and second seasons making this seem sensible in context. nick was working for satan. nick seduced and got close to sabrina bc the dark lord told him to. he was following orders. what better way to get close to her than to pretend he's head over heels?? that made sense for nick's character...err, at least in s1 and s2. again, uh. s3, u started to lose me and s4 nick, uh...nick killed himself just to be w sabrina bc apparently nothing else in his life mattered at all, and he did this instead of resurrecting her or putting her in the cain pit, so. mm. yeh, that's p stupid.
uhh...he had a lot of great points abt the editing. the editing in this show left a lot to be desired. i also agree with him on the front that caos should've been more horrific as initially advertised, albeit, as a ya horror, i get why it wasn't 100% horror 100% of the time and why silly teenage shenanigans got their fair share of screen time. on that note, i still cannot comprehend who thought the idea to end the show that way was in any way the best approach given the target audience. and no, no don't give me that bs 'but it got cancelled,' uh 1) that was a mind-boggling choice regardless considering the multiple in-universe avenues to save sabrina and 2) the crew knew abt the cancellation in enough time to alter the ending if desired. the cancellation was not a tardy announcement.
while i don't agree with everything this dude addressed, i do think he a had a lot of solid points. ah, the chilling adventures of sabrina. could've been so much better than it was, whatever way u look at it.

@rosyrosalie, replying in another one (a lot shorter this once, I think xD) too, because that post is so damn long already xD
omg when fandom keeps relentlessly bringing up the Raven/Finn/Clarke and tries to claim Raven still resents Clarke because of it in order to invalide her any time she tells Clarke off (and how that’s *actually* what her anger in S6 was about and not…y'know…her being tortured and her family almost dying and her lover getting his teeth ripped out and almost losing his leg y'kno) lmaooooooooo
I don’t actually hate finn, I hated his writing. And that’s the only way I can describe it. I quite like his character outside of Clarke & the love triangle mess (I can’t stand love triangles in general) but also it’s extremely difficult to seperate him from it because IMO they threw away all the potential he had and that his dynamics had in order to serve Clarke. That’s why he feels so empty. MAN I just think he should’ve belonged to Raven all along. Im very passionate in my rejection of Clarke’s character disrupting what could’ve been a sweet familial or romantic relationship (with no cheating involved).
The fandom is very much not over that original triangle rme. The worst for me is when they pretend they feel SO SO BAD for Raven. Like I can’t tell they all loved her humiliation in favor of Clarke. Like they didn’t salivate over Clarke’s condescending “I’d pick you first” while thinking they were “safe” because Clarke would ALWAYS be picked first over Raven (and oh, how beautifully did the show prove them wrong xD).
Frankly, everyone that doesn’t see Raven has more than enough reasons to judge Clarke (and that she’s so, so over what happened with Finn. She has her own family and receives so much love now, more than Clarke does lbr. And she knows this. Why would she resent her?) is not someone who ever respected Raven and whose opinion on her matters to me. They just think Raven (among other characters. Basically everyone lbr) doesn’t have a right to go against Clarke because Raven started the show “below” her, RME.
I did dislike Finn beyond Clarke (I thought he was a condescending and manipulative prick to Lincoln, and I judged the hell out of keep for keeping that bunker with supplies a secret from the other kids just in case he got to take his paramour there I guess), but you’re right that is hard to separate because there wasn’t much beyond. And I’ve always had a soft spot for Finn/Raven. Not for Finn, at all, but solely for Raven. She loved him so deeply. And because I love Raven, that gave me ~feels LOL.
And ngl, I love that now what remains of Finn is wholy “hers”, you know? Beyond the episode right after his death, he hasn’t been used to further Clarke’s narrative at all (and that’s part of why it went down, imo, but that’s another topic). But they used him for Raven’s in s3, and in more subtle ways later (like her panic when Shaw recklessly gives himself up, or her empathy for Abby in s6 when Marcus went behind her back to sacrifice himself).
ETA: forgot to reply to your tags, sorry ^^U
#agreed abt caos  #although i love nick and have since part 2 so mine wasn't 'temporary' by any means  #but i really struggled with the treatment of him by the writing and her reactions towards and about him during p3
I didn’t mind Nick one way or the other (I watch the show for Zelda, the Blackwood family drama, and Hilda. Period), but I was drawn to him in s3 with his survivor story (and how it challenged all notions about Good Victims(TM)) and the way they dropped it in the second hand to have Sabrina on this holier-than-thou attitude was so off-putting for me.
OTOH I LOVED his rant to her. I felt that, felt his anger *-* (and I resent the idea that it only happened because there was still ~darkness inside him. Let him BE angry, even if it’s a bit unfair! It makes for a good story!).

salty ask list 7 and 10 for caos?
7) is there anything i used to like but can't stand now? shit, a couple things. um...zelda and hilda's relationship sort of?? it's complicated for me. i initially liked how they seemed to balance each other out and functioned as sabrina's parental unit. on the other hand, uh...zelda's bullying of hilda into adulthood defo crosses the line for sisters imho, even witch sisters, i feel like. zelda dead ass kills hilda whenever she wants. and even tho she puts her in the cain pit and she resurrects, the killings are canonically painful. it's all but outright stated that zelda killed hilda during her harrowing and while she does apologize for this, just...idk. how *hard* she goes at her sometimes, i think it goes beyond normal sister stuff, i think it's kinda senselessly cruel. she's always tearing her down even when she isn't killing her and erases the romance novel hilda wrote that brought her a lot of joy. :(
like. i want to publish someday. i know how hard writing is. i would be so heartbroken if my sister erased all of my work and didn't bat an eye. :'(
also, it bums me out that ambrose and sabrina just roll with zelda going at hilda the way she does. like, hilda is ur aunt too, u guys. say smth?? pls??
idk. i used to like their relationship but even after zelda apologized to hilda, had a horrific nightmare abt hilda not resurrecting, and STILL proceeded to treat her like hellrot, i kind of can't stand it now. i hate EVERYTHING abt s4 but among all of those things, i hate that hilda moved back into the spellman house when she was happy with dr. c, knowing zelda's still going to treat her like hellrot and maybe even kill her if she feels like it.
also the stupid straight to hell music video!! bah. i used to like it, ngl, i thought it was funny as shit. but then came the memetic mutation and while i 100% understand why it became a meme and i can fault no one for that bc it was just so damn meme-able, it's forever stuck in my head. DX
10) most disliked arc and why? does the entirety of s4 count?? does it? imho caos should've ended at s2. s2 had a sensible ending that wrapped errything up and all the characters were in a place i could roll with.
s3 was. kinda cuckoo. but i think it had some merit, yk, it had its good points and it was vs stylish. s4 just felt fucking...okay first it was insane and then it was cruel? and also i didn't recognize this version of sabrina. i didn't recognize this character who'd previously fought for equality and reform in her coven, and express vehement allegiance to herself as in individual, mortal and witch, suddenly become...unconcerned with all of that and just obsessed with having a boyfriend?? so obsessed she tried to grow one in the bathtub rather than be single?? couldn't wrap my mind around sabrina morningstar marrying caliban even tho he was literally not just, yk, gonna murder her but leave her trapped and suffering for all eternity.
then it was like s3 craziness amped up on steroids. i think a lot of things that should've had more screentime devoted to them just got pushed to the side. also the ending. i question the choice of the having a downer ending at all-- specifically of having ur teenage girl protagonist gruesomely sacrifice herself in a program with a ya rating --and i'm personally just not rly into downer endings but the context made it all the more maddening to me.
u have a resurrection pit in the yard. literally. the cain pit. there is a resurrection pit in ur fucking yard. and we're not going to put either of the sabrinas in it bc?? why???
also ur witches with resurrection spells at ur disposal. u don't want to use the cain pit?? fine. sacrifice someone. it works. the only reason tommy's resurrection was botched in s1 was bc sabrina cheated by using an untrue sacrifice. if she'd actually killed someone instead of faking the sacrifice by putting them in the cain pit afterward, he would've resurrected fine.
or guess what, s3 showed us u have time travel in this universe too!!! so u have all these options at ur disposal to save her and u just don't?? idk. i don't buy that all these ppl (with powers) who loved and adored sabrina just watched her die and then did not shit abt it. so if all of s4 counts as an arc, that's it for me!! that whole thing was fucking garbage. i only took two good things away from that whole season. 1) prudence dismembering faustus and 2) lilith stabbing lucifer to reclaim her throne.
