Netflix did not just give fucking "Fate the winx saga" a season two but canceled jatp.... Like they did not just do that......

Just.. why would you Ever give fucking tries-to-be-winx-but-really-isn't-and-is-instead-absolutely-not-what-winx-is-about a fucking season two but then CANCEL jatp?????

They didn't do it for that. The producers of Fate made mistakes from the beginning. One of them was to have a white actress play Flora (Eliot Salt) and then, due to complaints, change the name to Terra. The cancellation is not due to being a lesbian. Do not take to your field series that have been canceled for reasons other than those you think.

The whitewhasing of Flora and Musa (she was still being played by a non-Asian actress), the lack of Tecna, the lack of iconic characters, wanting to turn something bright into something dark and edgy like Riverdale, believing that smoking, drinking alcohol and having sex would make the Winx more adult, fashion. And more reasons that led to people not to watch the series or follow it. All of that led to cancellation. And no, in the second season there were still not all the original Winx characters.

i do not disagree that these were also reasons, you are absolutely correct. but just like these reasons we can't ignore that netflix has time and time again canceled sapphic shows

also i never said the second season was perfectly accurate, i know not all the original characters were there but they did add flora.

but the points you're making are actually further proving my point. with all the mistakes of inaccuracy and whitewashing, it SHOULD have been canceled after the first season. but it wasn't. the second season was slightly (key word slightly) more accurate, but it still got canceled before they got the chance to make it more accurate in later seasons. what i am pointing out is the common theme that this show and other shows netflix has canceled early on have in common and that is having a lesbian lead. i'm not denying any other reasons for cancelation, but this is a common one in netflix's shows that needs to be addressed

It makes me so sick that people feel like they have to be ‘woke’ about everything nowadays and it makes them shit on everything. It’s so much easier to point out the flaws in something than to make something else and you really shouldn’t take the easy road here. Don’t like something? Try making something you like instead of complaining.

The Winx Club (season 1)

So, something that hit me when I was re-watching The Winx Club (the first season, anyway) was how fun this show really was.

Like, yeah, it’s nowhere near perfect and is even a little lame at some points (like, don’t think this is one of those posts where the point is to unveil some untapped mastery behind this show or something we may have missed as kids that hits differently now), but that’s kinda the beauty of it? It wasn’t trying to say anything, it just wanted to have fun. And I don’t mean that in a patronising way, or even to say it’s like one of the more mindless cartoons that was made to just get kids to shut up for a couple of hours, I mean that totally as a compliment. 

I was kinda caught off guard by how much I found myself really loving Alfea, like I really wanted to just go there. It seems like so much fun, the teachers are super nice, the setting is nice, and the world is super cute. The worldbuilding isn’t masterful, but it’s nice, it’s a fantasy. 

Also, some of the characters are really good. Like Techna, who I hated as a kid, is actually my favourite now. She’s just so done with everyone’s shit half the time, and I just love her. (Her relationship with Timmy is pretty lame though. Like, they were literally just paired together cause they’re both nerds and there’s like no chemistry smh). And Flora is super sweet. I don’t know how to describe it, but I kinda wish she was more of a central character. I wanna see her in a role that’s somewhat similiar to Katara, where she’s the mum friend, super sweet and caring, but if you mess with her, you better watch out. 

The only character I flat out didn’t like was Bloom, which was also surprising cause she was my favourite as a kid. Oh, and the boys. They were kinda hella annoying. But other then that, The Winx Club was super entertaining and I wish it didn’t go the way that it did. I wanted to give season two a chance so I could properly meet Aisha (since I didn’t like her as a kid cause she was a newbie), but from what I understand, that’s when the girls get those pixie things and yeah, no, that’s too cutesy even for me. 

But dang, I know the Winx Club is that show that, for whatever reason, will not go away, but I’d totally be down for it to get a reboot. In animated form. One where the story is revised, the characters cleaned up, and there’s more exploring of the world. There really is something magical about this show and I think it could be even better. 

But regardless, those are my 4am thoughts on this show. What are yours? 

“why did x get cancelled but riverdale is still on???” bc riverdale is bad but at least is iconic and a source of entertainment for people who don’t watch it.... what has your bad, poorly characterised dark teenage show done, uh??
