Okay I don't think I'm going to have the words to express it exactly but. Here goes.
There's something so heartbreaking(?) About Bride of Reanimator. Herbert West (re)creating Meg, the woman that Dan loved, and instead of it being a genuinely happy reuniting of the two, West creates an amalgamation of what he logistically assumes to be a desirable woman much to the horror of all involved parties.
Like idk, maybe it's being ace and autistic but there's something relatable about West there. Only having a semblance of understanding for attraction by normative standards. And trying to understand and it coming out Wrong to those it's more intrinsic to. And the alienation of that realization that no matter how hard you try, your outsider attempt at something "normal" will almost always just be an offensive imitation, maybe even to those you're close to, those you're trying to show love to.
Idk I just know that feeling of realizing you fucked up a Social Norm, and it was all the more relatable bc it was about attraction which is also just... so confusing and alien to me.
My mum just went ‘oh its rainy! god’s pissing’ and i said ‘DNDADS S2 REF??’ and she stared at me in confusion and a single tear just FELL OUT OF MY EYE. HELLO???
Okay, Tumblr, consider this: Eldritch Horror, but it becomes increasingly clear that it's not that the Terrifying Beings Beyond Our Comprehension aren't like, uncaring, or seeing us as beneath their notice or whatever, but are in fact the equivalent of like. Conservationists or wildlife rehabbers desperately trying to keep the protagonist(s) alive and stop humans from driving ourselves to extinction.
Bonus points if some of them are uncaring and some are desperately trying to protect the Squishy Humans, but from the humans' perspective, it's super difficult to tell the difference.
If there's one thing that I really love about tears of the kingdom, it's that you're no longer alone.
Breath of the wild really makes you feel the lonliness, everything is so big and so empty and quiet.
In tears of the Kingdom that's no longer the case, you have the sages with you at all times and you fight together and its Just ah. Very nice. Me Like it a lot
can we talk about how crazily devoted to his team joel "is eternally lonely in every life series" smallishbeans is to the bad boys?
screeching YOU CAN'T TAKE OUR GRIAN!!! and panicking the second anything happens to him? shoving people off bridges and threatening them after they try and attack jimmy? that incredibly smooth disarming of a tnt minecart and his absolute rabid kill on martyn after he stole grian? plus the way he was visibly restraining himself from killing people after getting turned back green was so funny.
he's absolutely batshit insane and devoted to a goal and it's so interesting to see that single-minded focus turned on protecting a group of people.
