yall better stop calling Shakespearean English Old English… thats Early Modern English. that English is not old it’s barely stale ???

#i realize this is a real nitpick on my part and honestly i didn’t know this a couple months ago #but old english is like. Old. this is back when we still used the thorn and the eth #Early Modern English —> Shakespeare. Understandable. Some strange word order and thous/thees but mostly ok.#Middle English —> Chaucer. Confusing. You can probably get the gist better if you read aloud but you have to struggle a bit.#Old English —> Beowulf. Different language. You will understand maybe 1 word in 50.#linguistics #home cooked hijinks #queue gotta be kidding me
