hey! absolutely love your art and your rainer interpretation- can you talk about your headcanons lore-wise involving rainer and mike? honestly you can talk about more than just those two as well i'm very curious about your interpretations honestly.

this will hopefully not be complete word salad. bc my brains fried already, but my views on petscop characters are esoteric and best and downright incomprehensible at worst. so idk how legible this will be JDKSHSKSBSK
uhh ill start with like. jill is significantly older than anna and lina. rainers actually fairly close in age to anna.
rainers biological dad isnt in the picture and actually went missing a few years after him and jill divorced. it runs in the family i guess. but since tom was there longer hes only ever called him dad, and both jill and him took the last name hammond when they got married. and mike was actually an accident! a welcome one tho. jill and tom were in their 40s and rainer was like 16 or so.
they were very close tho! he was very close with his immediate family. for the brief time he was in college he still lived at home despite the commute.
mike would sit and watch him work on the game all the time. he wanted him to teach him how to code (thats why he created the "petscop kids" after school program! at first anyway...) but 5-6 year olds dont exactly have the attention span for explaining how the dev kit console works. unless theyre belle i guess. but he did get into art! and considering rainers also an artist he encouraged it. mike would sometimes draw his own pets to be put in the game, but since it never went past evencare they never showed up. he did sorta base toneth on mike, and that was before he based any of the other pets on other family members.
mike went missing shortly after rainers mental health was declining. he ran away after some argument with his mom, and nobody remembers what the argument was even about. since this was after marvin hit the dog with the car, and he was beginning to experience psychosis, he immediately made the connection and believed marvin had something to do with it. the cops found it a little suspicious that rainer somehow just knew he had been struck by a car, and he was the only suspect for quite a while. tom had to vouch for him pretty hard and get him a lawyer.
as for vaguer things. the newmaker plane was started in an attempt to find out where mike wouldve run to. he was already recording movements in game, so he put all of mikes in game behaviors into a to scale version of their town, trying to train it to show him where he couldve gone. this obviously didnt work. didnt help that it was completely flat terrain and like had only their house, the marks house, the school and like a couple roads. it actually lead him to the opposite side of the town than where his body was located.
marvin is ALSO severely mentally ill and was convinced that care was lina reborn before any of this happened. obviously anna didnt believe that since shes still. yknow. alive. but rainer introduced the A/B/NLM concept to him, and they both began to believe care was just lina A reborn. pre traumatic event lina. they were both trying to see if they could somehow force something like that to occur, in an attempt to bring mike A back. when belle didnt work, they figured she was too old, so they moved to care. part of this whole "changing your past" thing involved plucking out her eyebrows (lina A had trich) and essentially trying to reenact aforementioned traumatic event. thats why marvin kidnapped her to keep her in the school. and it didnt work! just traumatized the fuck outta the kid. they never had the chance to do anything to "bring mike back" by the end of it, which lead to Bathroom Tomb Event. however, last belle heard, he was pretty certain paul was actually mike A. she tried her best to keep that from paul before they became distant.
i feel like the core of a lot of this is that i really dont believe that the rebirthing process does anything at all. with enough manipulation you may start developing false memories, sure, but its not actually working. in retrospect it makes rainers character a lot sadder. just a terrified kid trying in vain to bring his baby brother back. its not easy losing someone so young in such a horrible way without knowing who took his life.
BUT UUHHH YEAH ^}^ can you tell ive been thinking abt petscop pretty much nonstop since the end of 2022 i bet you cant

For some reason, I’m seriously wondering if Brassius is /younger/ than he looks, like…Cyrus does NOT look 27, yet there he is. And Brassius was confirmed to have had physically and mentally torturous younger years as an artist struggling for recognition. I’m not saying he’s also 27 mind you, he’s more likely in his late 30’s, /maybe/ early 40’s if we’re being generous.
This…also brings up the potential of an age gap in his and Hassel’s relationship, depending on when they met. Hassel’s likely in his 50’s (somewhere on the low end, maybe), meaning they might have anywhere from a 10 to 15 year age gap in their relationship!
I’m not saying there was any orbiting mind you, they were both fully-grown legal adults when they met, and all my homies hate orbiting—but it’s something to consider, given we don’t have canon ages for every character outside of a very small few.

Cyrus looks like this at 27 because he's wrong. His storyline is finding a way to mend the 'incomplete human spirit', and yet in his design and actions we see his flawed viewpoint. The narrative asks you to consider that if this is what perfection looks like, why is everyone else different? Why does everyone else look their age, or younger, and yet they're somehow incorrect? It's because everyone else isn't wrong. Cyrus' cold heart is draining him of his youth and vitality - he's too serious, and so it shows upon his skin. He's a commentary, a man too driven and too angry at entirely the wrong thing. He will unleash the literal embodiment of Satan to 'save us all', which is dictator language if I've ever heard it. It's why he wears grey, white and black - at his 'core', where the white undershirt is (the colour of purity), he has good intentions, or at least believes he does; his jacket is grey because he's morally ambiguous, lying to his team with again, what he thinks are good intentions - he's saving everyone, isn't he, what's the sacrifice of some good soldiers compared to that? And it's predominantly black, because his heart, and his thoughts, are literally 'dark.' He's a walking red flag on virtually every level, which makes the fact that his name literally means 'sun' particularly funny. He thinks he's bringing light to the world, but all he's bringing is darkness.
Contrast all of that to this lovely fellow here.

Brassius is physically marked by time because of both illness and depression - he was never 'wrong' in the way Cyrus is, so his lines and frown are a measure of struggling rather than a mental issue. The transformation here is palpable - the man we see jumping from rooftops and being the King of Drama is not necessarily young accordingly, he's alive. He's living his best life later in that life because he never could before - he's been healed, physically and spiritually, by Hassel. The coding here is of a youth unfortunately missed - he was drained of it too, but in an entirely different manner. Hilarious, because as I've pointed out before, Brassius is moon-coded to Hassel's sun coding - he's reflected his light, and now shines in his own right, whereas Cynthia - whose name similarly means 'moon' - is a reflection of Cyrus, the 'good' mirror to his wild ideals.
The difference lies not only in narrative, but in coding. Cyrus is a petulant youth, shouting at the world that won't listen until he makes them; Brassius is a grandpa-esque figure of art and wisdom. He's seen shit, and therefore he's basically every child's adorable little gay uncle. He's not jumping off windmills because he's full of youth, especially when we know from his rematch that it hurts his knees - he's jumping off windmills because he can. Because he's living now, because he's a role model, because he basks in literal sunlight... which is probably why he trains Grass-types, narratively. Needs that photosynthesis. <3

Here is a man who has also been through some shit - the burden of responsibility vs. the freedom of being your authentic self, who has also been healed by finding his little free-spirited, unapologetic artist husband. You'll see looking at them together like this, the only thing really distinguishing the two in wrinkles is the lines around Hassel's mouth... which is pretty easy to explain away as continuous frowning, when you've spent a good portion of your life hiding your true softness and trying to be the head of the family your heritage expects you to be.
It's a very different and beautiful take on the Sinnoh dynamic, honestly. Where Cyrus and Cynthia are at odds, both fighting for their own greater good, the sun and the moon here are in harmony - they're equals at every turn. One heals the other, and vice versa; they're both role models for young people; Brassius' art depicts them both to varying degrees; Hassel shows up at gym two; Flapple is half of them each... neither seems inadequate at all. Even the skill gap evens up, because they become very similarly levelled during the gym leader rematches.
And when you've got coding like that...
Is Hassel the older one, here? Oh, almost definitely. We don't know any canon ages in Paldea except Dendra, who explicitly tells us she's 25, and therefore, Tulip must be a very similar age as they grew up together. Everyone else is up for debate, really, aside from the kids obviously being kids. But this has all been a very long way to say, dearest anon, that I don't think this age gap's as wide as you might think. :) I think, in the spirit of equality, Brassius looks older than he is, and Hassel does too, because they've both had lives of turmoil - if I had to stick numbers on it, Brassius is early 40s, and Hassel's late 40s. But as you rightly point out my unknown pal, there's no orbiting here. This is a healthy and wonderful relationship of absolute equilibrium, as my meta masterpost on them will explain more easily than I can summarise here. Both of them are utter sweethearts with good hearts, and everything they are is built on mutual respect and appreciation. But you don't usually achieve mastery of your craft, and especially not after early disadvantages, unless you're of a certain age. These two are endgame life material, the 'happily ever after' of achieving true self-worth as well as true love. They stand as our in-game grandpas for a reason. :)

Basically the side characters are each products of the main three's routes in some way and I'm hoping to include them as part of those stories as more detailed elements of their overarching arcs.

Kazu first showed up in canon in a Yakuza themed AU short story I wrote for Patreon to be Mori's right hand man and bodyguard. He's 6'5" and built like a brick shithouse (charm point: huge tiddies and a tiny waist, very Dorito coded). Kazu's a fun combination of Stoic and Confident- he's an expert martial artist so he's kinda got that meathead/jock swagger- but also a delightful degree of socially inept and has a constant intense resting bitchface. He would beat someone into a paste for threatening you without blinking but if you cried in front of him he would have zero idea what to do. His personality is very Guard Dog? He always reminds me of a very mean doberman, alert and ready to react Severely and also absoLUTELY unswervingly loyal to people he's decided to trust. With Mori, the dynamic is especially funny as it took Kazu a while to respect him enough to take orders from but now that Mori's proven himself, Kazu would do basically anything he said, though they do share the Warrior's Bond and have to brawl a lot to work out the tension or solve disagreements.
Kazu used to be in a biker gang and spent time in prison (he also used to be super skinny and didn't bulk up until his mid twenties). He runs a mechanic shop during the day where he customizes cars and bikes and also built his custom bike, Kanōbo, from the ground up. He also loves J-Idols + has an anime figure cabinet and worked in an izakaya/pub for a number of years so he can actually cook. Vital funfacts: He enjoys beating people up, loves steak, is a junior high dropout, and nearly qualified for olympic level judo.
As of now Kazu doesn't have a demon deal but no promises for the future :)

Raath is almost comically complex for his role as a side character and is actually a redux of an OC I had in another fandom many years ago. Canon took a direction i didn't like and for a long time Raath sort of simmered but I love his Assholish Behavior and found a great role for him in TCM as Amir's parent's go-to hitman.
Raath is, above all else, brutal and carnal to the core. He was raised in a really fucked up way that cut him off from any semblance of a normal human childhood as part of an dark-entity-worshipping, off the grid assassin cabal. He was raised essentially as a child soldier and pushed because of his prodigy and proclivity towards assassin skills. He's socially inept but in a weaponized way, unafraid to flagrantly disregard social norms to say or do whatever he wants.
Raath is about 6'3"ish and lean/lithe. He's muscular but built for dexterity over strength- though don't let that fool you, he's immensely strong. While he doesn't know his origins, he was born in Greece to Cypriot parents. When he was a young teen, his cabal master had the revelation that Raath was the link back to their supernatural patron and decided to ritually mutilate him (in accordance to the old ways) as a sacrifice. The ordeal was utterly brutal (think legends of the old norse Blood Eagle) and by all accounts, there's no way he should have been able to survive. But miraculously, somehow, he did and the cabal considered that a sign to continue his training.
Raath doesn't have a demon deal. However, in the world of TCM, there are different orders of "demons" (not all supernatural entities use that word to describe themselves, its more of a human POV type label). Mori, Amir, and Akello are all humans-turned-demons via contracts made with other demons. Tor, from Akello's chapter, is a full demon and had never been anything else. Raath is something different altogether. Essentially, Raath is a human vessel for the phonos of bloodlust, Aimvoros. In Greek mythology, phonoi are deities that are the literal personification of a human emotion/experience and they're the children of Eris, the goddess of discord. Aimvoros is a play on the Greek words for Blood Hunger. So ESSENTIALLY, Raath has a demon of a Particularly potent caliber in his head somewhere, who's slowly and quietly trying to take him over and regain a physical form. Raath, however, is wild and unpredictable AND a lot more cunning than he seems. So the baseline for Raath is that he's playing a mental game of cat and mouse with a minor god inside his own head and winning. Its a long and arduous process but it sets the stage for Raath becoming the new blood god while retaining his human consciousness.
For his day job, Raath is an assassin/hitman who specializes in out of range sniping and making a huge mess of his targets. He's the guy you send in when you want to send a message, not have a kill go under the radar. As such, he's been very useful to Amir's parents for their dirty business and political maneuvering, though he's only as loyal as the assignments are engaging. Amir and Raath dislike each other a lot but they both acknowledge that the other is Useful in their own right.

Marcel is, by comparison, the freshest TCM character on the roster and so I'm still kind of feeling him out a little bit. He's gregarious and loud, generally friendly and well liked by classmates, coworkers, and teachers. He's very much that Star Football Player Who's Best Friend is in Band- he could absolutely be an asshole with the social position he's had as a high performing athlete going into college on a sports scholarship but his swagger and cockiness is more charming than offensive and he doesn't let the college sports environment get TOO much into his head.
He is, however, very confident and sure of himself. Growing up he got in trouble for backtalking to teachers almost constantly, and always had a comment for any given situation. He has an incredibly loud, unique laugh that you could pick out in a crowd and even now on the college campus him and his friends are usually the most animated group in the quad at any given time.
Marcel works hard and takes his studies pretty seriously or rather.... as seriously as he has to. He keeps his grades up to maintain financial aid but is always ready to party and now that he's on his own and establishing his adult life, he's ready to experiment and try new things.
Marcel found out about the demon infestation in the city on his own and was willing to make a deal with one for information on the accident that "killed" Akello but has so far managed to avoid actually taking out a contract. Akello and Marcel were very VERY close before the accident, however, and now they're sort of trying to figure out how to go back to that. Akello's big Parental Fear is that Marcel will have a Party Whore College Boy (like HE DID) phase and lose track of his academic pursuits.
For now, I'm lacking in Marcel concept art but Atlas' headshot is fucking dreamy so here it is again.

I feel the same, no offense to theorizers ofc because people are free to theorize and have headcanons. But also it is important to consider what the writers are intending here and recognizing their story bits. I feel like people just kinda go... too over the board with some of their theories/headcanons here and I'm like... it is fine and all to think about those things but are those things really fitting for what the writers are likely intending? I also am not that fan of people saying the Duffers are lying about things, first of all, yeah ofc they're not gonna just gonna openly talk about everything, but the majority of the time what they're saying are not lies, lol. So it's just kinda weird to see people claiming the Duffers are intentionally lying or just outright lying about what they say regarding certain plots and the story choices they made... that just does not make much sense to me. While doing promo and before that ofc the writers are just gonna be vague about certain things, that does not mean they're intentionally lying about the majority of the stuff they say in regards to the story they're telling.
Agreed! Honestly, don't have a single bit of issue with people theorizing and writing out their thoughts for how the story should go to their hearts content, especially knowing I do the same in my own way. It's fun, it keeps you invested, and ST has done a phenomenal job at giving their audience just enough detail to ask questions, while still leaving a ton of room for fan theorizing & artistic expression.
As for people going overboard with thinking their headcanons are what must happen in the show...it was actually my experience with listening to theorists right before Vol II taught me to manage my expectations in a healthy way rather than hold tightly to what I thought should happen (lmao). It was July when I realized that not a single person in this fandom is working with as much information as they'd need to precisely guess what goes on in Matt & Ross' minds...which was confirmed for me when only one theorist of the literal hundreds I read pre Vol II had even 50% of what went down written out correctly when it came to what "The Piggyback" ended up meaning in the actual show.
Tbh, its just that I realized its literally impossible for any one person to know every detail of what will happen—and even if they did get it 100%, it still would have only been an (admittedly educated) guess. That's not to knock theorizing at all; I love it lmao. I just think it becomes less about the show and more about you being right when you think The Duffers are lying to you when your specific hopes aren't what happens, or even saying that Stranger Things suddenly "fell off" because its not done the way you would have written it. It just seems odd to assume that every bit of the story down to the exact details needs to be what you theorize or perceive is "right"—something we knock other sections of the fandom for doing all the time, but that we somehow avoid in ourselves because we (rightfully) managed to catch the queer coding + narrative setup of Byler.
All that to say: in listening to The Duffers, I've never felt "lied to" any differently than I have Noah or Finn saying they "don't know" anything—even if they do know every detail, they wouldn't be able to say that anyway LMAO. The Duffers are sorting through their wants for the story the same way any author does, and what they enjoy might not align with how I would tell the story if it was mine—which is why I've decided to look for the core themes, narratives and arcs for general direction points rather than specifics, personally.
I like learning what inspired The Duffers, what their taste in movies and other art are, and how they've structured their previous plots for hints as to what I might expect to see come S5...but I'm not holding any of my own theories, never-mind anyone else's, with an iron fist. Matt & Ross + the 2000 other people working on ST got me this far enjoying the ride, so I'm gonna do something radical and just. Trust them to get me to the finish line. If its disappointing after its all ended, we'll talk about it...but for now I'm okay lmao.

1st of all, i’m pretty sure hanbin became my male solo artist ult after last week's concert and y’all i’ve been saving lots of pics but he’s such an awkward selfie taker which is very me coded so I feel validated
2nd, it's giving very "soft core" which ultimately is the goal of my life, but I personally am not there yet...

Anyway cara x krel childhood friends to lovers things
and also just some Cara things
childhood:
Cara's house has a blood oath that all members are born into that goes as follows: "By the light of my core and the right of my birth, I am bound to the protection and upholding of the righteous and rightful rulers of Akiridion-5, to set aside personal attachments for the sake of the throne, and to give myself entirely, in life, in sickness, in injury, and in death, to my Royals. I will live, walk, and breathe as a sacrifice upon the altar of the Royals' future.  Let my bones be broken, my coreslick spilled, and my core splintered for the sake of their call; let my body, my mind, and my soul be torn from me in service to the upholding of Akiridion. Such is my vow and such shall I be."
(if that sounds unhealthy or toxic, that's because it is. Cara's arc involves overcoming the warped sense of honor her House established, since that honor code is the last thing she can still remember that makes her feel connected to her Akiridion heritage, and becoming the first Okhrana to ever be released from the oath)
Anyway
Cara was the only noble kid with the patience to sit with Krel while he learned engineering and robotics and all that. She didn't have his gift, by any means- she was always more of an artist, though she tried to hide it back then -but she was still intrigued by his intelligence and passion for tech
She's a Summoner- a member of House Okhrana with the ability to summon small tools, weapons, and even art pieces or sculptures out of energy, always attached at the wrist (though artistic pursuits were discouraged by her house in favor of finding combative or scientific ways to protect the Royals). They take a lot of a Summoner's strength to create. Because of this, Summoners' hair doesn't stick together in clumps like other Akiridions', and they give off lower-energy green light rather than blue light, with the energy being diverted instead to their Summoning
Because of her differing appearance, other Akiridion noble kids often shunned her, but Krel was smart enough to actually figure out why she looked different, and didn't turn her away
Cara and Krel often spent hours talking about his little projects, or just with her watching him work in silence. She would draw or practice combat forms in the background. Since Krel was the member of the Royal family Cara was assigned to protect, her family allowed the friendship, and over the course of a couple years they became deeply, mostly quietly attached to each other
They made little dark blue beaded bracelets for each other, each with the crest of the other's House engraved on the largest bead in that signature Akiridion aqua.
present day:
Cara always has the bracelet Krel gave her on her person; she avoids him once she finds out he's in Arcadia, believing he could never forgive her for failing to return to Akiridion-5.
Cara believes she hasn't upheld the Okhrana oath by being unable to return to Akiridion, despite the fact there was no technology available to her to make that possible. She believes she exists purely to protect the Royals and die for them. She won't allow any friendships to get too close anymore and believes she doesn't deserve to be loved in any capacity, by anyone, despite being desperately lonely. (She taught her older sister the Akiridion language young though, so she's still able to speak it somewhat fluently in the present day, thanks to that and books written in Akiridion obtained from Stuart)
Krel finds her eventually, and is at first hurt she didn't reach out until he realizes how guarded she's become. He then begins carefully, gently trying to dismantle her misunderstandings about Akiridion culture, trying not to scare her off even as he tries to persuade her to let go of the way her family trained her to think in her formative years.
Cara's adoptive family, the Halls (her father is a sorcerer and her mother is a siren, and her two siblings are an older sister and a younger brother who lean towards their sorcerer and siren parent, respectively), are instrumental in that they're her emotional rescue family figures, working to undo the trauma left by House Okhrana and softening her; however, it's not until Krel, a fellow Akiridion, tries to correct her ideas about how Akiridion works that she really lets in that the way she was raised was wrong.
Her arc culminates in her asking Krel to release her from the oath that got her family killed and accepting her place as Matriarch of House Okhrana, working to build a healthier ideology for her family to live by someday.
As for Cara and Krel's relationship-
Their friendship is built on deep emotional intimacy that only grows stronger as she grows in confidence in herself as a person, beyond her oath's limitations- the confidence that drives her to be free of the oath. She's a naturally fierce, clever, intuitive, selfless person, and as she steps into that and accepts herself, she complements Krel better and better. He softens and grows more self-aware as he realizes he can trust her with the depths of his feelings; they grow into the sides of themselves they wouldn't embrace as naturally apart when they're together.
Cara still adores watching Krel work and working alongside him. She tries harder to help him with tech stuff nowadays, and they share an eclectic love of music. She introduces him to a bunch of music, from ABBA to k-pop to country to Lindsey Stirling depending on her mood, and sending songs to each other becomes another language to the two of them.
Cara is a classically trained violinist and a decent mezzosoprano, and eventually manages to get Krel to sing duets with her while he plays guitar. She loves playing with harmonies and can write lyrics but not tunes so much, so she and Krel start writing songs in tandem since he does tunes but not lyrics.
I genuinely despised romance as a kid and in my young teen years; I didn't understand it when I solely saw it in other people, and only began to like the idea when I began wanting romance for myself- and even then, I still to this day hate the idea of traditional dating and want to cultivate platonic bonds of trust before shifting to work on the romantic interest part of the relationship. What I see in Krel is much of the same attitude; romance seems unnecessary to him when he sees it in others, but I believe that if he were to ever shift towards having an interest in romance, he'd do it the way I did
Point is, it's not until Cara and Krel are quite close and the oath is already gone that Krel acknowledges the kind of closeness he wants with her, and even then they're less dating and more hanging out and kissing or holding hands or whatever they feel like when they want to (because rott isn't canon)
they're very casual about physical closeness already as friends. not much really changes tbh lol. Mainly they verbally express love more

I know this is going to be a hot take but I don’t think most of the fandom gets Jazz. I blame TFA. Animated is a great show, and I love TFA Jazz but it sucks that this is the version most of the fandom takes to write their Jazz. Because TFA took his role as a deescalator and made it his main trait. In concequence to that (and classic downplaying of Black coded characters) I find that most people just have him as a reactive character, instead of a highly active one.
because that is the whole point, isn’t it? Jazz being the most deceptive Autobot.
He *pretends* to be laid back and non threatening, when in reality he is lowering peoples guards so that he can strike. To be like that recurries knowledge of character, profiling and so much control. But he is not calculative and meticulous, because he knows numbers don’t count in the field, actions do. He controls his actions, he gets the job done.
And I honestly sometimes just reread that fic to remind myself there’s people out there that get it. That Jazz is a character that makes his own decisions. Morally grey. Highly capable and competent.
Dear Rung in the Core, in chapter 3? When he makes the mistake and he is like “Stop, learn from the mistake. Get back up” Thats is so…. Bdjdjdkdj I want to yell and scream because OMGGGG In real time that was like, what? 3 seconds? It was enough, he was working behind enemy lines *with* an Enemy, and he just got back on track because that’s what he does!!

The entire lore with the Ravir is SO IMPORTANT TO ME!! The fact that you gave Jazz a Ravir Friend!??? Also, I love anthropology and sociology (I am studying sociology) And just… delicious I am putting them in my mouth for safe keeping.

I can’t offer a lot of insight into how TFA influences how people characterise Jazz since I’ve only seen most of season 1 - though tbh while I do take inspiration IDW, really my angle on Jazz comes down more to an accident of taste, I think. Proactiveness and specific direction/goals are things I really like in protagonists, to the point that fics and books that are excellently written can sour a bit for me when they don’t have those, so I do tend to zero in on and emphasise those things. But that’s just my preference. I can’t really begrudge people focusing more on his easygoing side and Jazz being everyone's friend when that's what appeals to them, since those are as much a part of him as the stuff I gravitate towards
Though it could also… hm. Some of the more common shipping options for Jazz are ones where they’re already friends or have established amicability, and I kind of wonder if you’re gesturing at something I’ve run into a fair bit in friends to lovers fics. It’s that thing where a fic seems to be very interested in the interiority of Character A, and you keep waiting for Character B to get the same level of attention, except then it just never happens. It can feel a bit like the writer is more interested in how Character B can act as a vehicle for making Character A feel loved/comforted/etc, than in Character B as an actual character in their own right
Obviously not all (or even most) friends to lovers fic does this. And it’s not, like, an unforgivable crime or anything either, actually! Imo this can be a perfectly valid decision for a story - for instance, while it's not at all in friends to lovers territory, I did something similar in Your Own Hands. There's a lot of stuff in my plot outline about what Prowl’s thinking in each scene, details of the multiple factors being weighed in his decision making. But the reader ends up seeing basically none of it, because for all Tarantulas believes he understands Prowl as no one else does there are ways in which he understands him very poorly, and the narrative is so tightly bound up in Tarantulas' pov that his shortcomings prevent the reader from ever getting a clear read on Prowl. So I am definitely not saying this is automatically a bad thing. But at the same time, I also get how frustrating this can be when the sidelined half of the ship is the reason you clicked on the fic in the first place. Especially when you run into several fics doing this to the character you’re turning up for in a row, that has happened to me and I have felt petty resentment about it
Sorry for the little ramble haha, you just got me thinking about what made me drift away from the friends to lovers approach to ships a bit (this is something I’ve not really run into in enemies to lovers fic, I guess bc the narrative needs to have at least some investment in the interiority of both characters so them being in conflict has a foundation and makes sense. Tho maybe it does happen here too and I've just not seen it)

audio mastering: Why digital?
When I started mastering, I chose to work with digital tools and still work that way today. There are a number of reasons for that choice, which I'll gladly explain here in more detail since some artists, bands or labels are often curious about it.
Experimentation and DIY
The artists/bands I work with almost exclusively come from a DIY ethos. As such, they almost always lie on the unconventional side of things: unusual music genres, aesthetic choices, recording techniques, recording spaces, mixing tools, ... There's no doubt that a band recording in state-of-the-art facilities in a well-established genre will benefit from the subtle colour and depth that analog gear can impart to a master, as it's often the missing piece that will turn a collection of songs into an album -one of the main purposes of mastering to me. But for a DIY production, what prevents that cohesiveness is usually too much colour [1]. With that starting point, I have then to identify what constitutes the core of the work in order to present it in the best possible manner, and digital tools are almost always the best candidates for that kind of surgical work.
The needs of the music
'Classic' mastering gear will always include, at minimum, an equalizer and a compressor. But what happens when you're working with music that doesn't inherently need to be dynamically compressed? Whether it's harsh noise, drone or any other kind of music where transients (or percussive sounds, if you prefer) do not need to be tamed in any way. I know the obvious answer would be not to use a compressor even if you have one... but why have one at all, if you almost never need it? And as far as equalizers are concerned, it's worth remembering that the first parametric EQs tried to offer the most linear behaviour possible (i.e. with the least distortion) [2]. In this case, what could be better than well-coded digital implementations?
DSP and linearity
Digital processing tools have made an incredible leap forward in terms of reliability, quality and fidelity in the last decades. While linear processing (gain, EQ, ...) has always been -by nature- in favour of digital, some non-linear processors from teams like Tokyo Dawn Labs or Tone Projects (to name a few) could even outperform their analog counterparts. Others simply could not exist in analog form. And because these tools are digital in nature, one don't need to rely on any magic to improve anything, but on the technical capabilities of the operator and their ability to identify the aesthetic goals of the artists.
A/D & D/A conversion
Speaking of digital and analog, it is worth mentioning that any conversion from one to the other is far from being effectless. In fact, even state-of-the-art converters will exhibit audible effects when using a simple interconnect cable in their loops. It is true that any operator's tasteful processing choices will have a much more profound effect than this, but remembering that my main obstacle is too much colour, it makes sense for me to avoid this altogether.
Prices
It's no secret that quality gear comes at a price, which is reflected on the final service charge. Analog mastering has one (fully justified from higher retail and maintenance costs, amongst other things) because it requires a high level of technical excellence. And with many processors, that level of excellence can be achieved for much less with digital implementations. To keep mastering affordable for anyone, from any background, I chose to stay in that realm.
Personal preferences
While I sure love to tweak knobs, see LEDs glow and needles move, I know myself well enough to choose what best suits to my working habits and preferences. As an artist, I would be frustrated if I couldn't easily ask for enough listening time or potential revisions on a mastering job. Others like to work with their clients in the same room to avoid revisions and artists changing their minds at the last minute. Thus, it's important to choose a workflow that matches the way you like to do things, and the way you'd like things to go if you were the client yourself.
End results
There's no doubt that the "analog vs. digital" debate still stirs up some controversy and radical opinions in the audio community. Of course, the fact many people still engage in it shows that some things need to be clarified a bit. Linearity, data encoding, bit depth and many others concepts are still difficult to grasp and therefore generate many misconceptions. Having said that, it is sometimes useful to step back of our own perception and admit that the way we work always have less influence than the first note or the first sound recorded. In the end, it's just a matter of choosing the type of tools and workflow that suits us best.

2. Ahhh Eames, Eames, Eames. Eamsie. I love all headcanons on his background, from wealth, to nobility, to very humble beginnings.
Eames is interesting, that way. When I'm trying to write Eames, in my head I try and justify how he got to where he is and which parts of him are a) parts of his personality that developed as an adult, and b) which are just quintessential, born-this-way 'Eames'. You know, like, he's a self-deprecating, underachieving over-achiever who gladly goes under the radar. Middle child. Has always been a shit-stirrer.
I think he walks and talks like old money and that is not a front or an act he's put on. I also don't necessarily mean that makes his family ostentatiously wealthy, or that he grew up in a mansion or whatever - but I think he grew up, at least for a time, financially comfortable. Middle-class, maybe, or what used to be middle class - could afford hobbies and take-out and movies on the weekend, could take annual vacations without straining the family budget. He learned the value of money the hard way later in life.
3. Secret talents/hobbies: Arthur I can definitely see as being talented vocally, something he doesn't have to work very hard at. He's insanely good at Jeopardy and trivia. Sucks at actual human languages but is a whiz at computer coding and taming machines, like car motors and PASIV's. Hobbies? He loves getting his hands greasy in a motor and making a car purr. Baseball. Loves going to a game at Citi Field and hearing Eames lovingly complain about how cricket is better. Avid collector of knick-knacks and could spend an entire day at yard sales and markets.
Eames - I mean, art is the obvious one, fanon wise and in my heart. I don't think he's an art snob by any means, I think he'd pay a street artist what someone else would pay for a famous painting (that Eames would steal). As the chronic underachieving over-achiever Eames has hundreds, if not thousands of his own paintings that he considers 'incomplete' but can't bring himself to finish. I'm taking this from Tom but has a genuine passion for animals, dogs in particular, not that he lets anyone know, but he's never met a fluffy animal he didn't want to pet. Will watch any animal documentary ever.
4. Look, I am such a sucker for pet names, no matter the fandom/OTP. It doesn't have to be 'babe' or 'pumpkin' it can just be a play/shortening on their actual name---still valid!! Love is STORED in the pet names/nicknames!! And Inception fandom is a bountiful trove for this and it makes me so happy!! Anyway!!! Back to your question!! 😂
Pet names given to arthur by eames that arthur (secretly) likes? - 'Darling', of course. 'Sweetheart' because most people, including Arthur, don't think there is anything sweet about Arthur - but there is at his core, under a lot of hair gel and a surly attitude and strong work ethic, etc. I think Eames favourites are the ones he says when he is least serious, most insincere sounding while trying to annoy Arthur: "my dove, my dear, my beloved" things he says in a bored drawl just to get an eye roll out of Arthur (and to hide the earnest feeling behind them). They always be pulling pigtails these two.

Ouroboros IF - FAQ
When is the next update? Let’s just get this one over with right off the bat -- I don’t know! When I started writing Ouro, I saw it as a hobby project to get all that pent up creative energy out after working a soulsucking job. If I gain enough momentum and support on monetary sites such as Patreon and Ko-fi, I do have dreams of scaling back my work hours to focus on getting regular updates out. Alas, it is a lofty dream. In writing as a hobby, there is an ebb and flow in how I work on Ouro. Some weeks my keyboard is on fire, others it’s collecting dust. I can’t force myself to write when I’m bogged down with other stuff, it just turns into mindless, boring writing. I expect that to change as I grow used to writing regularly, but I’m still learning that! For now, I ask you to be patient with me; I love working on Ouroboros so much, but sometimes there just isn’t enough time or energy to do so. Besides being a complete novice at coding, Ouroboros is a beast of a story, and it grows exponentially with every chapter as more and more variables become relevant. Rest assured that I work on it as much as I possibly can.
Is there a discord/patreon/ko-fi? Not yet. There will be announcements made when I launch either of the above; I just need the time and bravery to take the plunge. If you’d like to create a fan-made discord, just let me know so I can lurk it.  👀
How many parts do you expect Ouroboros to have / How long is the story? For now, it’s planned to be a duology with part 1 being the shorter, more plot focused part, to really allow you to sink your teeth into the world and characters. Part 1 will still contain romance, but part 2 will have heavy branching depending on what character your MC romances. I might even split into 3 parts if part 2 gets too long. I don’t have any estimates on what the wordcounts for each game will be, as this is my first foray into writing a CYOA game, but Ouroboros is an epic science-fantasy with all that implies. It will not be a short story, that’s for sure.
Where and when will the full game be released? This is very far off still, but I plan to submit the game to hosted games when it is finished. This might change. I have a year of development for Ouroboros part 1 as a goal, but I am very lenient on that.
Are N/S/F/W questions ok to ask? They are absolutely welcome, however until I have launched discord/patreon/ko-fi, there won’t be any explicit content on tumblr. I answer the asks that I can answer implicitly.
Will there be a love-triangle route? No! We talk about our emotions here! The emotions explored in a love-triangle might be present.
Will there be poly-routes? I’m thinking about it, but it is not a priority for now.
Will there be asexual/ace routes? That is the plan! Though they will be written “last”, so to speak, as I want to write out the heavy romance first to understand how the characters would feel about it, to figure out where asexuality sits in their relationships. This is not to say that me or the characters will be reluctant to ace MC’s, quite the opposite. I’m just inexperienced in writing this and it will take lots of research and feedback to get right. I will also have to choose which part of the ace spectrum I want represented in Ouro, which is not an easy task as it is such a broad subject!
Will there be platonic routes? Though friendships with the RO’s are entirely possible, Ouroboros is a romance at it’s core. Your MC has the option to reject any relationships but you might find the content lacking if you do. 
You will always be able to opt out of any N/S/F/W scenes, too.
Will there be RO POV’s? Yes.
Can my MC romance L even if they were just friends? Yes, that’s in my planning!
Can I use your art of the characters as my profile picture/avatar? You can, and I’m honored! :> If you want to use any of the fanart, please talk to that artist first.
Can I suggest choices or scenarios for in-game Ouroboros? Absolutely! Some might not make it into the game for one reason or another, but I cherish the suggestions you come up with; they spur my creativity. Suggestions are more than welcome.
Where do I submit bug-reports? Either here through tumblr, or on the forum. Thank you for taking the time to locate them!
How often do you answer asks? Whenever I can. I can go through periods where I only reblog stuff and don’t have any energy to answer anything, but they usually don’t last very long. If you see me goofing on tumblr when your ask still waits for an answer, I can promise you that I’m not ignoring it; I just need some down-time to recharge my social battery.
Can you tag the stuff you reblog that isn’t related to Ouroboros? No. This is my personal blog, too, and was never meant to be an official site for Ouroboros. Gravity Falls was so so so important to me as a someone who literally grew up with Dipper and Mabel. I was 13 when the show came out and going into my last year of elementary school. Super socially awkward, anxious, ect. But I knew the show was going to be my favourite from the moment I saw the commercials (im talking the teaser commercials where you dont even see the characters at all.)
I related a lot to Dipper because of those reasons and because I just loved spooky mysteries and being awkward at every moment, wanting to be taken seriously. As I got older, I realized I understood just how Mabel felt when she rejected the idea of growing up. I have a sister around my age, so I also related to Dipper and Mabel's close bond a lot. The show just clicked with me. When it ended, I had literally just turned 17 the week before. Really, it felt like the pefect bookend to such a specific core moment of my teenage life. 4 years of cracking codes and making theories and fanart. Plus, I started this blog not too long after the show started (2013 I think??) So the show was also my first time connecting with people online that also had the same interests as me, which was important because up until like 2016/2017 I knew literally nobody that liked the show irl.

The show pretty much shaped not only my interests as a teenager, but fundamentally changed my artistic goals as well. I suddenly knew what kind of art I wanted to make and it was a huge stepping off point for someone who felt kinda lost. I'm not even talking about just the show itself; I watched AMVs religiously, read fan comics and fanfiction, and reblogged fanart like it was my job. It inspired me to draw my own fanart, and just last year got back into drawing fanart for the first time since the show ended.

Back in February, I rewatched Weirdmageddon and made some drawings for the 6th anniversary of the finale. And it opened up this nostalgia again and I was suddenly drawing fanart for 2 months straight. Not only that, but it started getting traction on Tumblr for the first time ever and i was like????? Okay I'll take that. And then I learned that the Gravity Falls fandom was suddenly more active than it had in years and scrambled to follow all these awesome artists.
I'm just so grateful for the joy Gravity Falls brought me as a teenager, especially during difficult times, and the joy it continues to bring me as an adult. This show is so special for so many reasons and I'm just endlessly happy that the stars just happen to align to allow me to experience it at the right time.

AI, Art, and You
Can we all just collectively agree that some AI programmers are out of their fucking minds? Like obviously not all of them, and so on, but the ones that I’ve talked to about this are so out of touch with humanity in all of the bad ways, defending the creation of AI that generates art that would otherwise be made by beautiful artists trying to make a living off of their creativity?
Hoo boy, this one’s gonna be a long one. A long and angry one.
Now I may just be a Midwestern soul, born in the heart of the hick-side of Illinois, but can we please stop acting like art AI is this new cool thing to be utilized and constantly praised when it’s actively putting people out on the street?
And the distaste for humanity that these programmers have, acting like these people, that they’ve never even met before, somehow deserve to be thrown to the street for their chosen profession, kills me a little inside each time that I hear it. Empathy shouldn’t be this uncommon in today’s world, and I feel like I’m shouting alone into the void saying that we should care about each other.
Not fishing for validation on that one, but this is driving me up a wall to a point where raw stream of consciousness is all you get. Focus the laser beam, focus.
Art is an industry that did not need more competition. Now we have robots to compete with? It’s impossible, now. An artist, who may create beautiful work, but takes 9 hours to finish a gorgeous oil painting, is now being outdone by an AI that can create the same, or better art in only 2 minutes.
Now sure, that might be an extreme example, but it’s what we aren’t that far off from, all things being equal. Billionaires are still going to appraise their art, AI-generated or not, for far more than it’s worth as a piece of self-expression, and continue to claim them for tax-breaks because that’s what the rich have done for years.
It changes nothing, besides breaking my heart to see. To see all of my friends who took the plunge, and decided that art is the thing they want to pursue, creationism, taking the pain that they feel and turning it into something that people can enjoy, or consume. We might think we’re advancing society, but we really aren’t.
Society is meant to advance, in my eyes, equally between Technology and Culture, running parallel to one another. Science and Art, more plainly, need to advance at the same route, but parallel, side by side. They may not advance at the same rate, but technology has now successfully began to box in artistry.
Now, expressionism as a whole is at risk, because of its inefficiency.
There’s that word they love to use so much. Inefficiency. They’ll call themselves realists, or say that they’re just being practical, as they design the code that puts people on the street. If your code hurts people, it’s bad fucking code. Simple as.
And they’ll defend it. They’ll ask you what they’re supposed to do, saying they can’t just stop now. And to that I say... Why not? Because people might stop making money? Because it would force programmers back to the drawing board to design an AI that doesn’t hurt people simply by its own existence and use? All for the sake of Almighty Efficiency.
No actual core issues within the art-industry have been fixed by the creation of this streamlining, inadvertently-murdering piece of technological advancement.
Human expression in art has been replaced by picture-perfect pixel-counted, lethally-efficient AI, and there’s nothing we can do about it. 
The profile picture for this fucking *blog* was created by an AI. The only reason I’ve kept it around for this long is to make a point. The only thing this AI properly does, is make the rich even richer. Now, they can pay ridiculously-low amounts for art and have it generated, appraised for more than its worth, simply on the grounds of its obscurity, and save even more on their taxes this February. 
This reeks of programmers asking if they could, far more than if they should, so here’s a formula for the more scientifically-minded to understand.
Efficiency + Productivity ≠ Progress What’s worse is that I’m sure the programmer that designed this AI was really, really creative. It takes a creative person to fundamentally slash creativity in its heel, regardless of how you do it. It really makes the whole thing feel like friendly-fire, a creative holding down other creatives, at the end of it all.
It takes creative people to formulate and code AI, but it takes emotionally-cold people to design AI that hurts people.
I understand all of their points too, you know? I'm usually all for the idea of flipping cop cars against the rich. But the main argument against it is "Who are these programmers to tell us how to live" but the counterpoint to that is saying something to the effect of "People who are trying to make life better." But for as long as some serious economic reform isn't taking place, and we'll forever be sending millions away in foreign policy, it's only going to be a better, tighter leash on society for the rich who can afford them. We can make cool programs that put commonfolk out of business once those same commonfolk have a safety net, but the people commissioning these programs don't think about that, they just see that almighty Efficiency and because they believe themselves to be the arbiters of the human experience, they go for it, and smile in their tech showcases, like they aren't killing people daily with these designs.
Well, rage against the machine, I say.
I'm a pragmatist. In spite of universal truths we should still care about one another and not lose touch with humanity because then we're no better than cold, calculating machines, killing without remorse because it's bad to be human. It's bad to be fleshy, it's bad to be weak, it's bad to be vulnerable and to care about people... When we could be more Efficient...
I'm the outsider for saying that people should care about one another on a surface level, baseline.
Just let that sink in.
No, take your time, really let it. An outsider, all because I think people reducing humanity to numbers is a devastating mistake, and I'm the one in the wrong. The piece still stands, I just want everyone to be happy, but as culture advances, cold, hard logic becomes an enemy to the progress of happiness, comparative to the people who are blissfully ignorant about life's real quandaries, problems, and flaws. They don't take comfort in the "It is what it is" mantra when bombs are being dropped and people are dying on a lie. We take issue with that, but I guess it’s not that uncommon. I’m not nearly as intelligent as he was, but you know what Einstein was labeled as for being a Liberal while working on the Manhattan Project? A security risk.
For caring about people.
Though he never really worked directly on it, so I guess it's a bad example, but the point still stands that someone overseeing the project that brought about the Atomic Bomb thought that empathy was dangerous to the production of this culture-wiper of an explosive device.
Before this goes on too long, I need to get a shower and go to work, and try to work all day pretending that this doesn’t bother me on a fundamental level, and anger me to my core. The rest of you should try to have a good day, in spite of artistic integrity being smashed.

Corey and Oats in
Corey and Oats VS Glitchula.
Once upon a time in Nile Road, Auckland, there was an unusual duo named Corey and Oats. Corey was not your typical microbe; he was a COVID microbe with a twist. He possessed a unique ability to communicate and had a personality that was both mischievous and charming. Oats, on the other hand, was a majestic horse with a vibrant personality and a love for adventure. They shared an extraordinary bond with their owner, Mel.
One day, as Corey and Oats were leisurely exploring Nile Road, Mel received a mysterious message on her computer. It seemed that something was amiss with her DeviantArt account, when she went on the internet to make a submission she got a message saying ‘you have reached the maximum amount of submissions allowed’ ‘Are you kidding me?’ ‘What’s wrong Mel?’ ‘This stupid message. I cannot submit any submissions, they are all going into the stash but not being published. What limit? I wasn’t told there was a limit! WHO DARES TRY TO LIMIT MY CREATIVITY!’
No matter how many times she tried to submit, her art and stories all ended up getting stuck in stash instead of being published, she wanted to go and see if anything could be done about it and she didn’t have any credit card or anything to pay for a core membership. Concerned for their owner, Corey and Oats decided to embark on a virtual adventure to solve the problem on DeviantArt. With Corey's microscopic abilities to navigate the digital world and Oats' determined spirit, the duo entered the vast and colorful realm of the internet.
As they traversed through the pixels and codes of the virtual landscape, they encountered various obstacles, from pixelated puzzles to algorithmic riddles. Corey, with his mischievous charm, managed to outsmart the digital challenges, while Oats leaped over obstacles and galloped through cyberspace with grace.
Their journey led them to the heart of the DeviantArt world, where they discovered a devious character named Glitchula and his evil assistant Limitator who put fake limits on deviations and groups. Undeterred, Corey and Oats confronted Glitchula, determined to restore order to Mel's DeviantArt account. With Corey's clever wit and Oats' powerful presence, they managed to outsmart Glitchula and reverse the digital havoc she had wreaked and they defeated the dastardly duo and sent the two of them to a cyber prison where they were grounded and forced to eat nothing but lumpy potatoes.
As a token of gratitude, the DeviantArt community showered Corey and Oats with digital art and appreciation. The once-disrupted gallery now sparkled with creativity and positive energy. Corey, being the mischievous microbe, even managed to become an unexpected mascot for a new wave of digital art inspired by their adventure.
With their mission accomplished, Corey and Oats bid farewell to the virtual realm and returned to Nile Road, Auckland. Mel was delighted to find her DeviantArt account restored and filled with newfound artistic inspiration.
Corey and Oats resumed their everyday adventures in Nile Road, their bond with Mel stronger than ever. Little did they know that their virtual escapade had not only saved Mel's DeviantArt account but had also inspired a new wave of creativity in the online art community. And so, the tale of Corey the COVID microbe and Oats the horse became a legend in the digital world, reminding everyone that even the most unexpected heroes can emerge from the pixels of an online adventure. They had afternoon tea and after that they had dinner, they relaxed in the evening and played games.
When their time was over they went into the bedroom and got ready for bed, Oats put on his pink pajamas while Corey put on his bat pajamas and they went into the bathroom to brush their teeth. After brushing their teeth they went into the bedroom and picked out a friend to snuggle up with them.
They all snuggled up in bed together, having sweet dreams as they did so ,glad their whole ordeal was over. But just because one adventure is over doesn’t mean there aren’t any more coming up.

Esmeray Paige (An archeologist who travels around to get to her next excavation site or museum due to her love for history. Found a mysterious, assumed to be a poor prank, box at her most recent excavation site. Loves romance and slice of life content.)
Harper DelMonte (An indie artist who creates music, art, and book covers. Enjoys paranormal and occult topics, as well as listening to true crime podcasts. Loves making coffee at the cafe and working at the bar with her band.)
Rowan Winters (An approachable animal vet with a seemingly sweet disposition. Often finds himself watching people. An avid collector of knives and holds disdain towards Eric.)
Malcolm Winters (An antisocial programmer who struggles with interpersonal relationships and being tormented. Allows his daydreams to consume his mind to escape reality. Hides his collection of comics.)
Valor Nightingale (They are a graphic designer who's close run-ins with death has made him interested in the topic. Often, in his free time, finds themselves painting or writing about the macabre nature of man. Extremely obsessed with fungi and decay.)
Beau Valentino (An exhausted college student and barista at their local coffee shop. Adores Maddening Mysteries and co-hosts a podcast inspired by it. Tends to speak in sarcasm and hates liars.)
Eric Castillo (A flirty influencer who often over indulges due to his success. Loves to roam bars and bookstores for easy flings. Hunting is a hobby he holds dear and he enjoys pissing off Rowan.)
Elizabeth Cane (A reserved part time waitress at a street corner diner. Often seen with her strange friends. Has an odd interest in the occult and pacts.)
Blaire Cane (A headstrong mechanic who wishes to be seen properly. Completely exhausted with the idea of wasting time on what she sees as nonsense. Devotes herself to the written word, lingering on specific pages that catch her imagination.)
Lisette Cane (A determined doctor in training who devotes herself to the medical field. Tries her best to be as kind as possible, despite her buttons being pretty easy to push, so she can help others. Suffers from insomnia so she devotes her time to studying.)
Monroe Summers (A mute and fiery nun who devotes her time to her craft. Often wishes to be more than she is, unhealthily so. Cherishes bullet journaling and origami.)
Lucille Adams (A wrath based demon who has no true name and the forms it takes are barely comprehensible by humans. The more people spend with this being, the more they are likely to lash out wrathfully.)
Callum Solomon Blackwood (A social butterfly of a priest of a small rural town outside of the city limits. Has spent his whole life dedicated to his religion and its practices for his newfound role. A role model to Monroe.)
Ramus Snapdragon (They are a deal maker at their core, making deals for memories or energy due to their high value to this being. They will however, make exceptions once in a blue moon. They remember every debt owed to them and always come to collect.)
Valentine Kinoshita (A hyperactive photographer, writer, and part time bartender who takes photos of Harper's band. Has a strange affinity for collecting cursed or haunted knick knacks which has confused the librarian with how often he donates to the library. Writes small poems, stories, and so on.)
Renesmee Vivienne Webber (An easy going, skeptical waitress who recently inherited a family heirloom. She thinks the conspiracy theories of paranormal or supernatural beings are far-fetched. Learned Latin simply because she thinks it is a beautiful dead language.)
Mélaine Duplantier (A doctor and part time tarot reader who adores stargazing and mountain climbing. She inherits her mother's little shop in town square. She doesn't inherently believe in tarot reading but she finds it fun.)
Anthony 'Angel' Rosendal (A flourishing florist who abandoned his dream to care for his father and their flower shop. Puts the weight of everyone's problems on his shoulder, even if he can't help. A former friend of Rowan’s.)
Cassius Bassett (A charismatic journalist who does weekly specials about the haunting tales of the town. Often left to delve into the theories of the unsolved cases in this town as a bit of a destresser. The author of Maddening Mysteries.)
Grayson Jones (A corrupt homicide detective who raises the dead to extract hidden information about their deaths. Often left undisturbed and unpunished due to his consistent results for the past thirty years. He worked relentlessly until he collapsed.)
Cyrus Grey (A homicide detective who is trying to dig into the missing cases of this strange town he found himself in. Even if he was taken off of a case due to either interpersonal relationships or lack of results he would continue to investigate. Willing to risk his own life to catch the killer's attention.)
Pierce Ryder ( A nurse interested in human flesh as a delicacy. Often lurking around Cyrus and seemingly offering off handed advice to the next suspect or clue. Enjoys Scarlett's company and the Intel she gives about Cyrus.)
Harley Vandeleur (A private business man who owns a good portion of the town. He's never revealed his face due to some unprovable rumors due to a mishap. Newspapers and articles refer to him as Logan oddly enough.)
Scarlett Fairchild (Mortician who can see into the minds of others. An associate of Ciara and Zander who seem a little standoffish. Obsessed with recording other's deepest secrets and exploits those who lack purpose.)
Natasha Bliss (A gravedigger and sexton, like a groundskeeper, of the local cemetery. A strong woman who geeks out at the esoteric and mysterious. Has an odd hobby of lurking the graveyard at night due to occasional nightmares.)
Live Fairchild (An anxiety ridden author and programmer who lives with her sister Sasha. Enjoys being alone more than anything else and only leaves her room when it is absolutely necessary. Obsessed with dark fantasy romances.)
Sasha Fairchild (An charismatic and chill hair stylist who works at the local hair salon. Enjoys talking and getting to know others but absolutely loathes small talk. Has several pairs of scissors which gets put into a collection whenever she gets new ones.)
Nikolai Levitsky Moloski (A forgotten man who lurks in the shades of a dilapidated building. Causes mischief and terror, leading those to believe the home is haunted. Adored gothic poetry and often recites them when he is bored, which is often.)
Salem Molovski (The great grand niece to Nikolai who knows he's there but can not see him. She doesn't know who he is but she is determined to figure out who or what this being is. Often finds herself in the woods, looking for what others can't see but they can feel.)
Zander Sylvester Alaric (A librarian with a dark secret. An avid collector of ancient books and letters. He has an obsession with sealing letters with wax seals.)
Ciara Alaric (Librarian assistant who has an interest in nature, untouched nature specifically as it brings her great comfort. Often seen lurking in the depths of the library, talking with Nerys, or taking a walk on the outskirts of town. Makes wood carvings that can be found around town.)
Nerys Masters (A curious writer who loves to dive into the depths of the human mind in the cafe and bars. Has a side job as a library assistant. She loves gothic romantic poetry and scrapbooking.)
Seth Maverick (A reserved and cordial accountant who shares an apartment with Malcolm. He sympathies with Malcolm’s struggle and sticks by him when he can. Goes to a rage room to vent frustrations.)
Brynn Sinclair (An energetic tutor and college student who passed her excess free time by hosting a podcast based on Maddening Mysteries. Is a proactive person when coming up with ideas and solutions. Beau’s best friend and a musician.)
Victor Moss (A cowardly scholar and archivist who is ashamed of his fears. Finds himself looking for trouble or to be punished. Has a small crush on Brynn.)
Isabelle Soliel (An easy going book club leader and small business owner. Often can be found alone at the diner. Typically to hold meetings or draw still life. Adores chamomile tea and belladonna's.)
Eden Moss (A child sung to by death and an employee of Isabelle. A mischievous kid who adores practical pranks and puns. Sometimes works part time at Anthony's flower shop and tends to gardens with him.)
Alice Lee (The last of her kind, unable to escape this world as she's been cut off from her realm. She works as a secretary and hates the mundanity of humanity. Adores Lyra as a sister.)
Lyra Webber (Adopted sibling of Renesmee and a half siren. A shape shifter who uses masks to change her form. Loves lily pads and shiny rocks.)
Felicity Cicero (Banshee who roams the woods during the week of a full moon, collecting lost souls to take care of. Usually found near rivers and waterfalls, searching beneath the moonlight. Is human any other time though, frightens me.)
Eloise Noire (A copycat killer of the infamous Ghost Host, out local serial killer who's crimes would be aired absurdly but he was never found. Charismatic and profoundly cheerful no matter how grim the setting. Very meticulous and loves true crime.)
Ambrosia Verner (A man who loves to play with the strings of fate and loves risky (and risque) situations. Has a butterfly collection and stalks those that catch his eyes. Adores beautiful things and loves thrills.)
Léon Bourgeois (A man who is interested in collecting old and supposedly haunted books and selling them. He's a blunt man who works in a pawn shop just outside of town. He has, what seems like, old self portraits of various people varying in gender and ethnicity.)
Carmelia Thane (A respected ancient vampire and the eldest one. The wife of Bram Thane and founder to the scholars of Carmelia, at least before it got out of hand. Enjoys the luxury of her immortality.)
Bram Thane (An idol who loves to put strange and unusual towns on the map. Often seen drinking and flirting with his wife. Indifferent to Zander and Ciara, much to Carmelia’s dismay.)
Pandora (The least respected of the three ancient vampires. A curator of fine arts and obtaining her own inspiration of any gender. Often headbutts with Carmelia over her small art cult.)
Rohan Wittlebane (A banished ancient vampire who lives in a cozy cottage with his boyfriend. Often seen on dates with Graham but nobody bothers the couple due to rumors. He enjoys hiking and listening to record players while it rains.)
Graham Jones (A muse who loves inspiring others and genuinely enjoys helping those who are afraid to take the first step towards their goal. Often seen walking dogs for the pound and going out on dates with Rohan. Loves stargazing and listening to old records with his boyfriend.)
Clementine Goldwyn (A confident model who occasionally takes her friends for coffee. A wingman and childhood friend of Pierce before he changed for the worse. She does singing and modeling gigs.)
Stranger (A being that distorts our reality and devours others due to its nature. It only allows itself to be adjacently human, not much caring about its imperfections that warps and imbeds itself into the mind of humanity. Loves playing cruel tricks on the human mind.)
Ezra Curtis (A being that shapes its form to that of which it has recently seen, it's not perfect but its imperfections tend to be miniscule. Has a couple of favorite animals it shifts into to mess with people. Loves gambling but has nasty cheats.)
Swarm (A creature that infests the human hosts and spreads the mass of filth and disease to those who welcome it. The warmth of the body determines when they will move to the next host. They are endless and will thrive even when we are gone.)
Doctor Amnesia (He is a soft spoken doctor who makes patients fears of not being believed a reality. An entity who enjoys the panic and desperation of those it messes with. If you were to ask for him, you can recall what he said but no one know him or seems to remember.)
Oracle (An entity that eagerly, ravenously, consumes others agony. Nobody can escape the fates it foretells, or well, ushers others into. Often toys with its victims with supposed warnings and false hope to avoid their inevitable prophecy but in reality it funnels them into their cursed fates.)
