😈💔
😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?
Hm. I guess that depends on what you mean by 'playfully' and 'mean' lol. XD I would say no, although there are some definite points in various fics (a couple moments in Incinctus; the end of the first arc of Protectors; etc.) that are designed to be suckerpunches to the reader? But IDK how playful those are...
💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?
There have been moments, definitely. Like, I have various Dramatic/Tragic scenes written (some only in my head) that have hit me hard as I'm writing them. And...probably some of my darker oneshots? But not a whole lot.
In terms of breaking my heart in a meta sense as opposed to content (as in 'this just isn't working why can't I make it work I will never get it done and written') ...uh. All of them, at least once XD Some more than others. The Devoted didn't do that to me very much, neither did The Promises of Angels back in my SPN days.
I do look forward to my ongoing projects in various fandoms (SW, BSG, Castlevania, ATLA...) continuing to break my heart, though. In both ways (look, I love my moments of melodrama XD)
Send me an emoji! Or several emojis! Go wild!

Hello, this is more something I want to open up for discussion, but do you think author's notes help readers comment? I personally don't mind author's notes as long as it's easy to distinguish and not in the middle of the chapter. I actually think they make authors feel more approachable, but I've recently seen people say author's notes are annoying, and I feel like less authors leave them in general lately. So I'm wondering if that's something that changed through the years as well.
Oh that's a great question @thinkingheron . I am very much not dialled in with current fandom culture, so if anyone has any insights into this, please feel free to share!

Unpopular opinion: I don't like sand line isn't nearly as awkward as everyone makes it out to be.
strongly agree | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree That line works perfectly in the movie.  I don’t actually mind the memes or making fun of it, it is an awkward line and the memes are funny and, hey, anything that gets people to be prequel fans, I’m all for! But I think it works great as a line that actually tells us a lot about Anakin Skywalker.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For starters, it’s a terribly awkward line and that works so well with the character, he is a terrible flirt and the appeal is in that he’s got such a beautiful face and that he’s so endearingly full of feelings.  IT’S SO AWKWARD I JUST WANT TO SCOOP HIM UP AND LOVE HIM. It’s also about how Anakin hates where he came from, he hates Tatooine and he hates that he grew up there, he hates how miserable it was being a slave in such a poor area, he hates how there was no escape from any of it.  This is Anakin hating this part of his background, coming out in such an awkward way because he hasn’t actually dealt with those feelings or managed to let go of them. It’s also about comparing himself to Padme of Naboo, where everything is beautiful and soft here, that this place is so much better.  Anakin is being wistful about how he wishes he could have grown up here, he’s idealizing Naboo instead of dealing with his own past (not bad in and of itself, but part of the bigger picture of Anakin, it’s a little ehhhh), and he sees this place as being so far away from her that it separates them. Look at the way he picks at and fidgets over the fencing, the awkward and angry way he can’t really express himself very well, he has such a fragile sense of self even as long as he’s been working on it and as much help as he’s been given, this still is like a hot poker prodding at his very soul, the subject of where he came from and how he feels like it separates him from everyone and how he’s so angry and fearful about that. It’s an awkward line, to be sure, but it fits his character perfectly and tells us so much about him, it’s cringe-worthy and endearing at the same time, which is exactly the character of Anakin Skywalker.

Askbox meme: 34, 37, because I've been having disagreements with my brain about my sleep schedule. :D
34. Do you have trouble sleeping at night?
Not typically, no. I have chronic pain though. Lately it's been acting up and I have trouble falling asleep, so that's been difficult. I have trouble staying asleep too for longer than a few hours, but my body doesn't seems to have never set up a good sleep schedule anyways.
37. What time do you usually go to bed?
Hahahahaha 😂 for context, I work in animal medicine. Something most people don't know about animal medicine: it's long hours, weird shifts, and not a ton of pay. Some days I'm up at 5am for a shift at 6am, and I don't get home until 3pm, and others I'm at work from 2 to whenever we close up or 9am to 6pm (but usually 7pm). And often times I can have all three shift types back to back, and then the cycle repeats. But overall - I try to be in bed between 9pm and 11pm. Usually 10:30pm is a good time for me.

Cody for character asks. :3
Yessss, thanks. Good man that Cody.
favorite thing about them
How serious he is. This isn’t to say he was a stick in the mud - he often cracked “tension-busting jokes with [Obi-Wan]” (sometimes canon is kind to me), but I like characters who take things seriously - even Anakin making jokes about how he is probably boring Rex with regs in the Rishi Moon episode made him more endearing to me.
least favorite thing about them
How underused he is. I recently re-watched the TCW movie and it’s blatant that they were aiming to make Rex popular with the kids, making him Super Cool, while Cody was often just… there. There’s a youtube video with all his lines, and it’s painfully short.
favorite line
Not a whole line, but I adore him calling Obi-Wan “boss” instead of General for entirely Serious Shipping Reasons. Also him calling Rex “old boy”, for some reason I find it hysterical because to me that expression is linked to old white posh dudes who went to Eton and Oxbridge.
brOTP
Rex (though let’s be honest, I would not object to them as a ship either)
OTP
Obi-Wan
nOTP
…it doesn’t exist? I think? When people throw new pairings at me (like Bo-Katan/Cody) usually my reaction is “hell yes!”
random headcanon
I knoooow I keep using it in fics and probably everyone has seen my post already, but his chosen name is Kote, which means Glory in Mando’a, Cody is a transposition for Basic speakers.
unpopular opinion
Mmh, I don’t think I know what people think enough to say if something really is unpopular, but - he holds Obi-Wan in high esteem, but he has his reservations on him as a General. Look, he has been literally bred for war, but the Jedi - they barely know how to fit into the Army. They are quick learners, but they aren’t ready.
song i associate with them
For some reason, he is a slippery one. I normally have whole character playlists in the blink of an eye, but it’s proving hard for him. Imagine Dragons in general tend to work very well for a Cody mood, and Something Stupid for Codywan mood.
favorite picture of them
I have no self-control so have three: his face is flawless and I want to squish his cheeks, being handsome with Rex, young cadet Cody (this pic always makes me emotional for some reason)

5, 7, 33 obscure asks!
5. Do you like to organise?
There is no easy way for me to answer this question. I wouldn’t consider myself to be a highly organised person. My mother forever laments the state of my room compared to hers. However, I do like to clean when it’s messy. Tidying offers me little satisfaction, but if something gets to a state of being a mess, then it is satisfying to watch it get clean. I like organising if something’s a mess, but not I it’s just mildly out of order. Otherwise, who cares? Where’s the satisfaction? Having said that, there are a couple exceptions to this I can offer. My mother is a seamstress by hobby and has a lot of thread as a consequence. I was horrified she hadn’t organised it by the colour of the rainbow, (as I had temporarily had the clothes in my closet organised), so I insisted on doing it myself. Also, when I was a young teen I amassed enough of a collection of books that I taught myself the Dewey Decimal Classification system just to organise them “properly.”

7. What song is your aesthetic?
I have no idea, but I asked my mom what song she felt suited me the most and she said the Addams Family Theme Song, because I’m “just so unique.” I’m not sure what to make of it. LOL
33. Do you have any strange fears?
Well, it’s not strange, per se, but I used to be severely arachnophobic. I once went to use the bathroom in the middle of the night when I was about six or seven and screamed as loudly as I could when I saw a teeny, tiny spider. I remember the irrational thought that if I screamed loudly enough it would run away. It didn’t, but it did freeze so maybe I scared it too. My parents came running down thinking I was being kidnapped or something. My dad wasn’t thrilled when he found out it was just an extremely small spider; he didn’t know I had arachnophobia and I wasn’t exactly in a state to articulate how terrifying my fear was. I used to have nightmares about giant spiders crawling all over me, eating me, swarming me until all I saw was hairy darkness. They terrified me.
I overcame it when I was about nine or ten. My dad used to go out once a month and buy me books since there were no good libraries where I grew up. One month one of the books was on spiders. My dad, again, because I’d never really told anyone how much those creepy monsters scared me, had no idea even looking at the pictures terrified me. I avoided the book for weeks, but then I realised  that I didn't want to live being ruled and oppressed by fear like that, so I made myself touch the pictures. My heart was racing. I breathed very deliberately. I reminded myself pictures couldn't hurt me, bite me. Then I made myself read the book, and learn about spiders. I reasoned the more I learned about them, the less afraid I would be, and I made myself conquer my fear. Now I am not afraid of spiders.

(I think this was asked before, but i couldn't find it so I hope you don't mind..) How old does a Padawan have to be to start following along in missions (relatively safe ones)? I mean, Ahsoka was 14 when she got to Christophsis but is there a record of younger ones tagging along on diplomatic missions?
It depends. Not all species mature the same so there isn’t a set age for you to become apadawan. It depends on your species. For humans, it’s between 12 and 14 (it depends on your education and if anyone is interested in you). Usually, atthe age of 12 you are already allowed to become a padawan if a Master choosesyou. if no one wants to train you after you turn 14 then you get reassigned bythe Council. I strongly suspect that’s what happened to Ahsoka. No one wantedher so instead of sending her away (during a time the Order needed soldiers),they put her with Anakin to keep him in check. Two birds, one stone.
Initiates (youngerthan 12) don’t go on missions because they are not allowed to leave the Templewithout supervision or have much contact with the outside world (can risk something messing with all the indoctrination). Anakin was theexception because he was technically a padawan since he was 9 years old buteven he wasn’t allowed to go on a mission until he was 12.

A-Z OC meme N. (I think I might only recognize maybe one or two but please feel free to talk about aaall of 'em xD)
All right, then!
I had an AtLA OC named Nuying; she was the Earth King's aunt but basically just a sketch--she was a satellite to a main OC, her son.
Dr. Naar! I love Dr. Naar. He is a doctor, he is very firm in his ethics, he treats all comers regardless of allegiance (which is why he refuses to Officially join the Rebellion). Also it would be nice if he would. Like. Confirm his species for me??? (He's either a Human or a Besalisk but will not say one way or another. Sigh.)
Nikolai is another Star Wars OC. He's Kallus's nephew, the middle of three boys. He's an art history nerd, and runs away because his father is...well...Awful. And his mother (Kallus's sister) isn't all that much better. He and his brothers figure he might actually be better off with Uncle Alexsandr, even with the treason and the war and so on. He does eventually have some contact with his mother, but never speaks to his father again. He is very close to his brothers, though. He marries a guy who is just as nerdy as he is, in a related but not necessarily the same field.
For my original stuff--
Nolani is the princess Lonura is in love with (from the Ls answer). She's her mother's eldest child and therefore second in line to the throne for most of the main part of the story. She does have a husband, who over time becomes her best friend; they married to seal a treaty. There were some. Communication issues surrounding that, and she and Lonura briefly split up. She is a hopeless romantic; before she started seeing Lonura, she had a string of brief relationships, falling in and out of love pretty quickly. She's very devoted to her family, especially her brother and sister, but tends to be very aware of her position in her mother's shadow.
Nida is a posthumous character, the wife of the...for lack of a better term, Disc One Final Boss. Her family has ties to a resistance movement, she was sent in to hopefully seduce the King to manipulate and eventually murder him as soon as she had an heir and a spare, who would hopefully still be young enough for her to serve as their regent and raise them to effect real change. But she fell in love with her target along the way, and at the last minute, chose not to kill him, partly because of that and partly because she--not incorrectly--thought that the alternative would lead to a bloody civil war, with her children caught in the middle. She does what she can over the next couple of decades, dying about seven or eight years before the main storyline opens. Her oldest son is the actual Big Bad; her youngest son is one of the main heroes.
Neiali comes from the same universe as Larien and Landelye. Neiali is the youngest of the High Priest's three children; older brothers Ahnrel and Sefalin are the main characters (Sefalin being Del's lover). Neiali is offstage for most of what I've written, trying to track down the missing Prince Idan for reasons of Complicated Politics. Neiali is also possibly a trans woman? This has not been confirmed; the rest of Neiali's family is unaware and refers to Neiali using male pronouns/terms. (If Neiali doesn't pick an entirely new name, her name would be something along the lines of Neialyi, because Weird Ways Of Marking Gender In Names, lol. Feminine names in this universe have a glide/y in the last syllable (Landelye; Metanrye, Kahleny).
Neremyi is Larien's aunt, the mother of his rival king in Nandere. Her husband made no secret of his resentment, and after her sons were about ten, they didn't spend much time with her. She built her own network of support and political alliances within her husband's--now her son's--court; she's mostly an observer for now, but she has some long-term plans, including a few candidates for her son's consort.
Nahrenyi is the High Priest's secretary, and a quiet schemer. Not actually against him or for any other faction; she actually thinks Jemairin is the leader the Church needs right now. But she...manages things, makes sure he doesn't get too bogged down in one issue and forget the others. Quiet and subtle, she likens herself to a gardener.
[that particular story is currently known as 'Untitled Intrigues Story'; there is a Lot of Scheming, lol]
That's...pretty much everyone with an N name, I think! At least in terms of major or Significant Minor characters.
Ask me about my OCs!

Writing asks : 4, 5, 33, 50 :D
4. Do you have writing habits or rituals?
No, not especially, not that I can think of.
5. Books or authors that influenced your style the most?
I’m not certain that there are any that I feel particularly influenced by. I’m sure I’ve absorbed a lot of different styles from all that I’ve read, but none leap out to me as being a style I’ve sought to emulate. I write how I write. Having said that, I was in awe of the beauty of present tense as written by the fanfic author Yesac.
33.Do you listen to music when you’re writing?
Sometimes, it really depends on my mood.
50. Weirdest story idea you’ve ever had?
I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had a story idea that constituted as ‘weird.’ The only thing I think comes close is an AU idea I have in my potential drafts folder which I call the ‘Demigod AU.’ It’s not even a WIP at the moment, but I thought it might be interesting to explore what it means that Anakin is part-Force. In the classical sense, demigods were used to show what is human. We are more than animals, but less than gods. We are more than animals because….we are less than god’s because….
Anakin’s desire to conquer death, even though he is still mortal, and bound by mortal laws, is a classic example of the demigod struggle revealing the struggles of all humanity. Demigods aren’t heroes in the sense of character and honour and integrity, not necessarily, they are heroes in that they test the boundaries and limitations of what it means to be human. They are part god, so they are used to test mortal limits, but generally suffer for their temerity, because they are still mortal. I thought that might be neat to explore, and Anakin is an excellent character to do it. He tries to defy death, and look what happens. Honestly, a lot of this is touched on in canon. Star Wars has a lot of mythic elements to it, after all. I’d just need to flesh it out more and explore the Force in greater depth. What is it? Mortis, for instance, is fascinating. What is Anakin’s true potential? How would it hurt or hinder him to explore it? How deep into the Force can he go? What will be the price of his power? He burns so brightly, it must also hurt him. What does t even mean to be the chosen one??? It’s so metaphysical though, I seriously doubt I’ll ever do more than ruminate on it. It fascinates me though.
