Knives Out Thoughts (With expected spoilers)

Lol I just wanted to admit that I prefer the first one better but in real neurotic fashion my brain wanted to justify that until settling on to that it's just a personal bias and its not a flaw or at least intended design.

I think I liked the first one better because it was contained in a way I like better. Contradictions like, a funny Clue mansion that visually felt so contained in its own absurdity. Like its big. Fits like 3 generations. Has an entire center area with a big fucking knife throne. But the sets make it look like these guys were suffocating, perhaps under how much they depended on Harlan that they put up with the kooky mansion. So its psychological and physical. And its fun.

The Glass Onion V2 is like, wealth too egregious to really put up with compared to this. The Clue mansion was still a display of wealth within that really compressed environment and I guess I at least prefer spatial modesty. And here's where I say that yeah that shit is on purpose. It's shameless on purpose because that Elon Musk rip off is just supposed to be that way. It's just that it released at a time where everyone is so done with his shit where they either laugh and do nothing or feel no catharsis at all.

So anyways personal preference aside I'm gonna elaborate that train of thought with justifying why I like the other better. But except I use it to point out that it's fine that it's different but mostly the same formula. Knives Out is a murder mystery story about this Southern guy who keeps being mysteriously dragged to solve high profile murders with multiple layers of deceit alongside unfortunate normal ladies who get dragged along with this mess... which usually ends up with rich bozos getting the rug pulled under them. Both stories involve dependence towards a rich dude. Both co-leads tend to be ladies who arent ultra-rich... and they took liberties with it. Such as Elon Musk wanting to victimize himself instead of actually being murdered. Or the self referential bit being that it was a murder mystery party (I know I would suck at those). Or the framework of the mystery, where first one was about filling the gap that solves everything. But the second one is that the nothingness shows itself in plain sight. The lack of a mystery as the transparent screen you look through to see pretentious puzzles waiting to be solved. And its like, that's where theyre different. I like the two movies in their own different ways that theyve set themselves in. The first one is the fun traditional murder in a house that's a homage to traditional murder mysteries, then the second one is just really really funny to me as The Witness guy. I have to view them so differently but that's just how theyre made. And its fine.

Is glass onion predictable? No, because the way the story was laid out is obscuring the larger story on purpose because its honing in to the layers than the transparent bulletproof casing that protects it from being torn the fuck apart because the mystery is garbage By Design. The first one also fucks over rich people, but it's an individual win. Glass onion is like, switched around. Some of the leads are actively worse than others, or even better people, but they get an overall win, kind of. I think it's just a flaw in the framing because you get that cathartic bit of taking the big bad down by collective action but who's to say his wacko lobbyist friends are going to stick to the script. Just reversed the scale, which is simple but enough to switch it up.

One thing I really couldnt personally stand and its uh. The set. its just too big for me. Feels nauseous. I know its on purpose like I said initially to showcase the scale of how big of a prick these guys were but it was just, tying in with more technological buzzwords definitely did not help. Like, I watch knives out to avoid that bs, but its okay I guess. I liked seeing startup bitches burn. Fun.

The bit with mona lisa we caught on way too immediately but I think, with how much they built up to it, it paid off very well. Didnt matter if we picked it up quickly even before the final catalyst because it was very fun to both metaphorically and literally break glass.

Glass Onion is a dream to describe how I feel about the witness and what made it that way. Silicon Valley goons, puzzles on an island, faux resort stuff, layers, puzzles hidden in plain sight stuff, and just... Why I find pretentious stuff compelling is that you see it all in front of you and you play along with cynical delight. Sometimes I'm wrong about the nature of anything that wants to take itself seriously. But sometimes you get shit like that. Is this ironic... I think you'll probably wish it was. It's like obsessive thoughtguy's version of morbid curiosity. I love this bullshit! Rahhhhh!

Also I'm just not a fan of the among us bit. From all the odd marketing for the game this is the line is crossed. Original knives out talks about rejecting a Netflix deal and this one is produced by netflix. Put among us impostor for laughs but come off as the most sinister product placement ever. Focus more on social media + disruption but almost come off as ingenuous coming from the corporation who produced it, but not noticablr enough because hey it's already pretty radical to want the tesla guy dead. Don't look behind the meaningless puzzle of producing content in the streaming age either. People say they didnt promote glass onion enough and wonder why its doing bad and not... realizing its a pattern of behavior. I saw like 3 glass onion billboards, they are not neglecting marketing. They probably spend MORE on marketing than anything else. So like, if you want to look at simple things obscured by some guys wanting it to seem more complicated than it is: poke into that. They'd love that shit. Good night everyone.

Oh, to be a mysterious old book collector that goes by Mr Valentine even though no one knows my real name or whether im a man or a woman. I wear half moon glasses with a gold rim and am never seen wearing anything other than an immaculately put together outfit of a long coat, a dress shirt and some worn dark green pants, maybe some suspenders, that fits my aesthetic perfectly. I have been fascinated with books since i was little, and worked as a librarian and delivery boy for most of my twenties, until the untimely death of my grandfather (who was always a little peculiar) leaves me with a small fortune and a large mansion full to the brim with trinkets and collectibles. I sell the house and use some of the money to buy a small cottage in the middle of nowhere. I keep as many of the trinkets as i can. After that i travel around in search of first edition plays or poem translations never published or a fascinating set of letters in an exchange between forbidden lovers in the 1800s. I collect a very very large collection of pieces of writing through the ages that i keep in my little cottage safehouse. I travel to france to london to moscow to japan, and once even to argentina and egypt. I go on ships and trains exclusively because thats where you can find things you didnt even know you where looking for. The day i turn sixty five i find a letter that leads me down a rabbit hole and i end up uncovering a decades old conspiracy that is still going to this day. I spend a decade following the trail, storing everything i find back in my little house in the woods, until one day i trust the wrong person and realise ive gotten poisoned. In my last moments i leave a note that i put in a book that i send in a little cart down the river Volga, which is frozen (im in moscow at the time). I hobble to the red square and die curled up near the ice rink. Ive always liked moscow during winter. My murderers think theyve put a stop to my knowledge but what they dont know is that ive left my cottage, and everything in it, to an old friend who has never gotten married, who ive always had a bit of a soft spot for. She learns of my death and mourns at least a little inside for the rest of her life. When she dies of old age she leaves my collection to her young granddaughter, who is so quiet and unbothered by anything that people call her peculiar in that way that implies something much more severe. When she finds out about the cottage she is delighted and moves there as soon as shes done with her education, intending to write biographies and historical non fiction using the resources i amassed, but not three years into her stay she hears a knock on her door during a storm and opens it warily only to find a bedraggled, lanky girl trying her best to cove a very old book from the rain who speaks in a heavy russian accent and begs to be let in so she can explain who she is. The girl lets her in and gives her a blanket and hot chocolate and listens to her tell a wild story about finding a book under a bridge and taking it and then having to run from someone who happened to see her carry it and started following her home, eventually resulting in her having to leave the country out of fear of being stalked, and finding an address disguised as a riddle in the book she picked up and deciding to go there. Her and the granddaughter become fast friends even though one speaks mostly in russian and the other in french, and then they both uncover the conspiracy and are forced out of the cottage into an adventure that they will never forget, during which they find out a lot more about my life and also fall in love. They survive and live the rest of their lives traveling, like i did, following trail after trail. They die in peace, leaving everything in their will to a young mother they see almost as a daughter and my legacy continues and grows through mother after daughter after granddaughter after lover. Centuries down the line, my grave is wrapped in pink lilies and blue forget-me-nots

i do want to mention in regards to greedfall that for the spoilers thing you put thats wrong. not trying to insult just want to kinda bring up the misinformation. the reality of it is that you're full native, and your mom was one of the heads of their clan, an incredibly great healer. yet she was taken and the dad died fighting. the plots about hey colonizers are super fucked and in return they got a plague from the atrocities theyve done, so instead of fix it themselves they kidnap the mcs mom at one point. she dies, naturally because of being faced with a whole set of new diseases. with that the princes sister who didnt have any children adopted the main character and did some whole machiavellian scheme to raise them as their own and try to play them as a pawn to make the natives want to help. admittedly a lot of the plot is like hey, what you know is fucked up and colonization is morally bankrupt, to both the colony people and the natives. but im not here to change your mind or anything! its just a game, i just wanted to just correct some parts of the post that i think were worth mentioning. there wasn't any rape, and the natives arent painted in such a negative light.

i mean, yes and no.

yes in the sense that yeah, what i’d heard about the protagonist’s parentage (i did not get far enough into the game to trigger that quest for myself) was wrong, i’d heard they were half-native but their bio mom was still the princess but yeah, when i found the last post i linked to i realized that was wrong. so yeah, on that point, you’re right, i was fully incorrect about that.

but. while that means the narrative leans less into the ‘savage native’ theme, that does make it lean more into the ‘magical natives who are intrinsically connected to the land’ theme. which is. also not good. it’s Othering with a different coat of paint over it, ostensibly positive but still reducing swaths of people to some weird ‘your ethnicity and culture makes you inherently spiritual’ thing.

and here i’m going to toss some links to things that talk about the harm in this sort of thinking. there’s a million articles that discuss this even more but in the interest of not spending more time i don’t really have i’ll leave it at these

plus, there’s still so, so, so, so many moments where they’re shitty about natives and the game…. does not address it. does not let you, the protagonist, say a word to dispute them when there are npcs telling you to your face that the natives are weird demon-worshippers and you need to intrude on their sacred rituals bc lol idk solve a mystery for us? you watch a man murder a native man for not converting to his religion, and you can fight the dude who murdered him but you just. knock him out and it doesn’t change a goddamn thing. the protag finds out they’re native and doesn’t…. do anything other than Be The Chosen One. they don’t even get to learn anything abt their clan. the narrative just says ‘oh hey, you’re native, you know nothing about this land but you’re magically connected to it by birthright :)’ the sacred rituals of some of the clans are derided as being scary and evil. you constantly murder nadaigs, who are people who have physically transformed. the game does not let you avoid or question this ever. you MUST murder them to progress the plot.

i know i linked this last time but i really do recommend that you read this post for specific examples of where and how this was done. there’s a lot.

truly, read that and then consider whether the natives aren’t ‘painted in such a negative light.’

like… i don’t necessarily think the game devs set out to make a colonizer simulator exactly, but uh, they still did by virtue of being nowhere near qualified to talk about this sort of thing. by still cramming their game chock-full of reductive stereotypes. if they intended to make a game that discussed native people being colonized in a remotely respectful way…. if they really wanted to show that colonizing/colonizers are morally bankrupt..... they completely and utterly failed.

anyway that’s enough time spend on greedfall now, let’s be done talking about this forever lmao

a/n : gonna get me some hate but- i just love making diluc suffer in angst for some reason... and agan gender is actually neutral but my fingers kept typing female pronous out of habit, so please do change the gender to your own comfort(?)

summary : As the days gets busier, so does Diluc. Youve appreciate his hardworking manner and understand the work he has. He want to make you happy by giving you anything you want... but cant you have a little of is attention? does he not need you anymore? what if he loses you? will that be better? does he not like you anymore? will it fix it if you part ways in your deathbed with your last to be "i hate you"?

"Just how many times do we have to get over this?!?! I SAID IM BUSY. im busy. what you want proof? look at my desk, its full of paper. And of course you know the conditions of the sudden dying people, injured, hurt because of some organization. Im protecting the land, and that includes you. Do you have any complaints? i will not accept those either way." he says as he walks out of the door, towards the his car. And for you, you stand there with tears in your eyes, you just wanted a hug anyways.

Its been like this since a few weeks ago. People goes missing for a few days, coming back not remembering anything. Injured people reporting that theyve witnessed a dangerous organization. And people dead with the clues of some mysterious organization that the security forces cant even figure out. And due to those cases, Diluc joins the investigation with the forces, while still keeping up on work as a CEO of his fathers company. He walks home each night to receive a hug, that was at first, yes you do hug him still. But, As a withering flower loses its beauty, so does you relationship loses its love as time walks by. fewer interactions become none, and none became arguments.

The lack of comunication is the main issue, a thin yet hard paper to rip.

As Diluc continues his research on the accidents, You try your best not to feel the pain in your chest, that lonely pain as you sleep alone once again. But these days you felt as if something or someone was watching, a murderers gaze waiting its time to strike. Youve tried to inform Diluc of this incident, but get cut out with 'later' 'gtg' 'just your imaginations'

One night...

"I told you before. this is embarassing that you cant help but make excuses, and more excuses until youve nothing left but try to guilt trip me and the people around y/n. Ive said to you again and again, you know im busy for the sake of both of us-"

"OKAY BUT THEN WHAT IF THE ONLY THING THAT I WANT IS YOUR FCKIN ATTENTION???"

youve done it, raised your voice at him in the most terrible moment. but you did not regret.

you see his pissed off face, the face full of irritation. as he raised his voice.

"do you really think that im supposed to believe someone who started this argument by saying shes being stalked by a possible murderer, and then the next debate, she says that she just wanted my attention?!?!!? guess what? you have all of my attention now. Now speak. continue your lie-"

"I SAID ITS NO LIE! IM SERIOUS! I- i could feel it even at this moment...!" you cut him off again and you werent even lying.

"ah... so you think your a special person, the female lead of a story, the person that could predict the future, to feel some weird aura, the one that gets killed just because of that feeling and at the end gets a kiss from the prince as she wakes up from her death bed? dont expect any of that bullshit from me. By how terribly bad your attitude is these days, i dont even know if i still need you. im leaving, and ill probably leave until tommorow. now go to bed before i actually kick you out of my appartment." he says as he walks away, again to the vast dark night.

tears running down your face, as you feel the aura of murder bigger than before. You shake in fear as the appartment is filled with silence. Your alone.

"I get it Charles, ive said some wrong stuff to y/n so i should say sorry before its too late. but you know how busy we are right? ill do that tonight"

"hey you should really visit her now, no one knows when late is"

"were busy. get back to work"

the next day, another busy day in his office. And Charles, his assitant, giving diluc some relationship advices that gets a direct negative response.

Charles of course kept trying to persuade Diluc to no end.

they were typing no end, that was until Miss Jean came in and called for Dilucs time, signing that its about the incident.

Diluc gets to the balcony, a more reserved area.

"how is it?" Diluc asks.

"you see, were at a dead end. they always end up attacking someone, killing someone, and when we tried to dig into the connections of the victim, their family or people their close with always ends up dead by suicide the next day. "

"ridicolous"

"but knowing your the one that has been figuring out most of the tracks, and encountering most of their moves in real time, you should also be careful."

"i get it"

and there their disscussion ends.

Works as painful as usual, a meeting was held to discuss the strategies, and outcomes of the organization. But the only thing that was revealed is that the forces decides to stick to the guess that the organization has been targeting people with a relation to the national forces. After theyre targeted, the person that will be a victim is the targets family, bestfriend, or lover. And at the end, they will have the outcome of eliminating a member of the force without many difficulties.

To Diluc, just like how it sounds, it sounds ridiculous. If the organization really does that, he bets that theyre already caught by now. That guess is just like a fantasy novel.

As he gives no shit on the disscussion about that strategy, he only pays attention to the stuff about victims since he himself guessed that the organizations victims has some sort of relationship with the organization. He does not believe that someone could die just because of someone else dying first.

but why does he feels like hes already dying now?

ring* his phone shows that y/n is calling

"tch, excuse me for a while, someones calling."

he stands up from his seat and went put of the room with soundproof walls and a glass door.

"you know very well that im in-"

"please... im sorry- hic- im sorry- please come home.... i-"

"tf do you mean?? your saying im supposed to go home while an important meeting is going on?? this could risk lives-"

"w-why are you like this..? please come home? right now PLEASE ITS REALLY IMPORTANT" your cries over the phone as you wail to him.

"it hurts.... it hurts too much... there too much blood, i cant... breathe" you say with the last energy you have.

Diluc freezes as a wave of anxiety washes over him.

"y-y/n where are you? whos there other than you? im heading there- just- your doing good- continue talking- anything- how was your day? what did you cook today-" Diluc says in a panic as he starts taking fast steps to his car, too scared to forget your voice.

"I- lets go to that cafe you said you wanted to go to-"

"why?" you cut him off with a lifeless voice

"y/n how was your day? did you go somewhere? meet with friends maybe-"

"tch" you click your tongue

"y/n....?" he says with fear of whats gonna come up.

"why are you always like this?" "i-" "you always do this" "please-" "you always say everyones wrong and when your wrong you could only say sorry and act like nothing happened" "thats not-" "thats not true? sure hah..." "y/n im right infront- wait for awhile- youll be just fine." he parks his car with his phone still on speaker, as he pays attention to every noise and painful words coming from your side.

"hey remember i love you so-" he tries to say how much he loves you, he tries to say how much he loves you, but your reply cuts him off and the ring of a call ending following your words as he turns off his car and runs to the door.

"i hate you "

wouldve it been different if he trusted you? would it be better f he didnt walk out that night? would it be better if he went home and made up to you just like what charles said?

"t-this is too painful of a punishment... y/n"

he kneels down next to your body, his suit pants getting stained with your blood that was flooding the floor. His whole body shaking like a cat drenched in rain. His hand reaching for yours, bringing your crushed hands that mustve been stepped on to his face, kissing it gently and bringing it back down, putting it on your chest.

"im sorry... please dont hate me..."

and ambulance sirens fill in the silence.

Re: Jennifer's body, I don't think these people understand that just AWFUL women are like, fun, it's OK to like a villain, it's fine, it's really OK. It's fun actually. Try it.

i want to preface this by saying its OK to like jennifer and ship her with needy or whatever, plenty of popular male ships like hannigram or whatever is going on with breaking bad (?) is equally toxic and people create jokey content, but there seems to be this tongue in cheek awareness that is totally absent with jennifers body.

first off, jennifer is really mean. she treats needy very badly— shes physically violent with her, puts her down constantly, and even controls what she wears. i see myself and my toxic homoerotic high school friendships in jennifer and needy. its a beautiful and tragic story, one thats sympathetic. but shes MEAN

shes also racist. she makes a comment about needing to find and asian chick to do her nails, and before shes turned she makes a comment about ahmeds dick being a sea cucumber and wanting to hook up with him solely because of this, exoticizing him.

secondly, i dont like that jennifer is a passive victim. yes, she is a ritually sacrificed teen girl that has to choose between dying or eating human flesh. but the broad tumblr narrative of jennifer as this innocent victim that kills bad men is not true to the story. obviously its fine to have this girlboss killing evil boys moment and headcanon— its fun. but people are so serious about it and its NOT the movie.

the first person jennifer kills is a nerdy foreign exchange student who she made a racist comment about. yes, shes hungry, but ahmed didnt do anything. jennifer lures the grieving football player into the woods and is extremely forceful. all the emo guy does is politely ask her on a date. ahmed is a lost and innocent foreign exchange student.

its also obvious in the movie that there is something wrong with jennifer, like shes fated for something higher than being a small town high schooler that screws older cops. first, in the original script, during the van scene nikolai mysteriously produces a bottle of peach schnapps to assist in luring jennifer, which jennifer said earlier to needy was her favorite drink. almost like it was fate.

then theres the blood drinking scene from their childhood, which may explain why she and needy share a psychic bond before their final conflict that transfers some of jennifers powers to needy. /there is something wrong with jennifer,/ and low shoulder are just what sets the dominoes in motion.

jennifer does not give a shit about low shoulder and what theyve done to her because she likes having powers and she likes being gorgeous and able to seduce and kill people weaker than she is. jennifer wanted to have sex with the guys in low shoulder and she adamantly wanted to get in the van. yes, shes a teenager and concussed, and the scene in the bedroom demonstrates that being murdered obviously traumatized her. additionally, low shoulder are not motivated by sexually exploiting jennifer— theyre solely driven by greed and cruelty. during the van scene, nikolai easily could have taken both girls, sacrificing needy after sleeping with jennifer (who wants to fuck them), but they dont care because they dont want sex.

but low shoulder are PLAYING PROM. jennifer has the perfect opportunity to exact revenge on her supposed abusers— but she doesnt care. she is focused solely on murdering needys boyfriend. yes, jennifer is bisexual and in love with needy, and her motives are sympathetic, but she also wants to hurt needy and be possessive over her by killing the person closest to needy because she cant have needy.

ITS NEEDY that then goes on to use her powers for good— exacting revenge on low shoulder for turning her friend into a succubus, all in search of fame and money.

at no point in the movie does jennifer kill evil men. jennifer is focused on killing weak high schoolers and possessing needy. because shes an antagonist. a sympathetic and tragic and lovable antagonist, but an antagonist. people try to paint needys boyfriend as some sort of bad guy to justify this narrative, possibly because the sex scene is so disturbing. sure, hes a jealous, kinda dumb, insecure high school boy, but hes close with needy and obviously cares about her and her well being, and needy loves him.

and thats okay, because girls can be sympathetic bad guys sometimes, and its okay for girls to have an american psycho movie lol not everyone has to be a sweet little joan of arc

All the Scream asks got me thinking about mystery and betrayal so now im thinking of a yandere murder mystery! Say every yandere OC of yours lives in the same town and has some sort of small connection to darling one way or the other but darling doesnt know them all that well. Then one day a mysterious stalker letter arrives detailing how they are gonna be darlings one and only, and how people will start to disappear if they get too close. You ignore it, thinking its some sort of prank but as the days go by strange murders start occurring in town and they are all related in some small way to darling. A janiter darling bumped into is later found dead in a dumpster, flirty barista who asked for darlings number gets stabbed in the ally behind the shop, and countless more. People are starting to freak out and its up to darling to figure out who this killer is, and theyve nailed it down to 9 suspects. Its up to you to figure out who done it and catch the murderer, before they make good on their promise.

An Innocent Sin & the good gay flashback ft. my descent into madness

I wasn’t sure if I should post this but I mostly want it archived so here we go. This is from like,, September?

So. “An Innocent Sin” is a dumpster fire unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I don’t remember why I decided to read it. maybe I was crazy. Either way... I read it. It soon started to touch upon (very very outlandish) sexual abuse which I thought was interesting. (the angst, not so much some of the wack circumstances surrounding it)

ANYWAY. at some point... we have a flashback. And not just that. It has a gay character.

And it turns rly gay. which mind you, is still in a het smut manwha (that has a “gay” side couple, but still!)

And it destroyed me.

For those who want to read it because I genuinely think the flashback is a decent bit, it’s all the bonus chapters between chapter 77 and 78 I think. There’s a part before that too, but idk where exactly anymore. (It’s on lezhin! or your platform of choosing)

I don’t THINK you’ll need any other knowledge to get the flashback bit? but it’s been a while.

New character arcs and new back story because canon sucks again

Main 4 cast with notes on characters that need notes for changes to make sense Garnet: yesyesyesyesyeysyes everything good about this show. There’s not enough garnet centric things where she’s just herself and not about ruby and sapphire. More information on Garnet. Shes stoicly funny and just murders people with words sometimes. show her being rose’s top tactician. turning the tides of the war that were never in the crystal gem’s favor. maybe theres a fun earth thing shes into. Her room is the heart of the temple for a reason now. Its a balance between pearl and amethyst. The bubbles are organized, but she has her own side space with things she does as hobbies. She has a collection of antique books that she likes to read lava side and she often meditates to see corrupted gems and a future in which the CGs encounter them. maybe she even draws them out to combine ruby’s need to Do with sapphire's need to Know. Fusion is still very important to her, but not she has plot relevant interests that make sense with her character. Her character arc involves her being the first of her kind. shes something completely new! just like steven is. and for that not to bind them together is silly. She wants the best for steven and he makes her want to be an even better leader now that rose is gone and shes the only one left. she makes him think about his actions and slows down his hyper activity when he or amethyst are trying to do something reckless. From him she learns that it’s okay to let her guard down more. Homeworld might come back, but it’s not all on her shoulders. the CGs are a family and they’ll protect everyone together. Garnet in jailbreak is the first time we know shes a fusion and before that we get more about her character not just from environment around her, but her reactions to things. Maybe she feels like she needs to be in control because shes afraid that without rose, homeworld is more a danger than ever.

Amethyst: I like most of her progression actually!!! a few things I’d mess with is when she’s unnecessary hurtful to people she loves, like greg, when she shape shifted into rose, and peridot when she all but threw her stuff into the ocean. these things need to be gotten rid of, or addressed by the narrative. I’d also like to see her hanging around Vidalia wayyyyy sooner or to have a reason why they dont. As for reasons, maybe Amethyst did or said something hurtful toward her, lashing out at her for whatever reason that made their friendship strained. while a decade is a long time for a human, for a gem its nothing. so while she feels bad, Am’ isnt going to apologize herself!!! she didnt do anything wrong!!! and maybe Vidalia is the first person steven convinces her to apologize to. Steven teaches her compassion and is, in return, the gem he can relate to the best. He goes to her first with gem issues and she acts like an older sibling, trying to teach him or cover up mistakes so pearl and garnet dont find out. I think i’d like a progression of Am’ refusing to apologize to Vidalia, realizing that she was wrong and apologizing to greg, but he breaks down and can’t move past that, rendering their friendship difficult and strained as a “sometimes apologizing isnt enough and you have to change your behavior“ and then the third beat with peridot either not happening at all, where she doesnt throw someone’s comfort items into the ocean which, i think steven shouldve realized and stopped her from doing anyway, BUT if you just NEED that mistake on her part, i feel like this could be a “sometimes, you dont know how bad you hurt someone and you should apologize when you find out“ with peridot being hurt and not talking to her and amethyst has to do a big gesture to show shes sorry. I also feel like that fleshes out amedot as a ship and while i dont care about who peridot ends up with, i care about story and the way im going to make this story go, lapis will be in that fun moral grey area and i want more options in terms of story telling and of fan choice. Also!!! explore the possibility of her being deep cut and thats why shes a runt. she only looks smaller but has all these strengths because of it!!! it fits in really well and bismuth or peridot maybe because she was made for kindergardening, could tell her about it and watch her get excited because shes not ”wrong“ she never came out “wrong“ shes just different and thats okay!

Pearl: Was white diamond’s pearl, first of all! that makes every interaction more interesting, because no only did she defect from homeworld, but she defected from the Queen of homeworld and everything it stood for basically. We learn more about how homeworld operates and what places in society each gem fits from pearl, because while she doesn’t believe it herself, she isn’t kept from talking about diamonds now and what one she served. in this funky fresh au, she is sent by white to make sure the new diamond they’re cultivating from earth comes out properly (aka where the fuck did russia go) and getting her equipped with all of the technology she would need to properly rule. this is where she first meets a quartz soldier. at first she’s taken aback by the quartz’s forwardness, no one had ever talked to her like... an equal before. shes not sure if shes allowed to speak, though, she knows theyre waiting for a response. Their first interactions always begin with her requesting permission to speak. They have to wait a few more years for pink to emerge and while they’re there they slowly become friends as the life is leeched out of the area. we could have a snapshots of them waiting for together, rose getting bored and convincing pearl to come do things with her, slowly breaking her out of her shell. Pearl’s difficulty and character arc comes from not just rose and getting over her feelings, which is perfectly fine, but doesnt need to be her only trait, but finding out who she is now, not just after rose, but with humanity as a whole. with the war well and truly over. she wants to learn about what rose thought was so important to fight for, to die for, and because of that, we get her partaking in human activities that arent eating or drinking, because she still dislikes them. While Garnet reads and collects books, i think pearl being really into her weapons collection is a good idea to flesh her out more. Where did she get her swords from? Well thats a mystery. She mentions someone she cared about a long time ago made them for her and thus we get some fun bismuth foreshadowing.

Rose: And rose..... god... we could of had it all by adele plays in the background anytime i think about her. Here we have a very beautiful fat woman. Shes framed as elegant and regal by the show time and time again and i LOVED that. however after the pink diamond reveal, I have such mixed feelings about her. No more diamond bullshit. Shes the first gem that popped out. Technically she’s too early and she goes to stand guard around the birthplace of her diamond. That is where she and pearl first meet. Pearl is the first gem she ever talks to and while she innately knows stuff about home world, shes pick up a lot from the humans that live nearby. theyve shown her kindness and given her furs to wear and in turn she helped them heal their wounded by crying on them. (yes she still has healing powers sue me) she loves the humans and takes to befriending them before pearl shows up. The two of them get close and after pink diamond pops out, rose realizes what the creation of gems truly means for the world around her. They’re killing what was here before them. This isn’t creation. It’s an invasion. Being the only quartz out so far, shes forced into the role of commander for pink. Her favored soldier. And the more she does what she was “made for” the more she hates it and the more she hates the diamond authority. she convinces pink that some humans are worth keeping. As a curiosity, my diamond. they could prove useful to terraforming other planets or moons to accept life and in time, gem cultivation. She gets poofed while trying to save someone from the group of people she first made friends with. Maybe pink shatters whoever poofed her for not following her orders because of course Rose wouldnt defy her. rose is Loyal, unlike the rest of you lack luster garbage. Rose comes back with her iconic dress and shes here and queer and shes fucking Done with this shit. she hears about the shattering on her behalf and she goes to pink and asks why and she feels sick to her stomach because star, my diamond, she isnt Worth it. she isnt worth the cost of someone else’s whole Life!!! Oh rose... you’ve always been soft hearted. in this time, Pearl is quietly there. waiting to be called back by white as pink pearl has just been sent to take her place. And this is it. This is the moment rose decides to rebel. according to homeworld, her life should be no more than any other quartz. her life shouldnt be traded for that of others. So why? Why did pink do this? Do the gems in her court mean nothing to her? This is the first time a gem has ever summoned two weapons. A Sword and Shield. A knight turning on her master. She tried to attack pink. to poof her. to send a message right here and now that gems are all equal. that a lowly rose quartz is strong enough to take on a diamond! She fails, but only partly. she manages to strike a blow, but pink stays in tact long enough to strike on of her own, sending rose retreating into her gem. This is when pearl has to make a choice. No matter what she’d be shattered. Pink’s wrath when she reforms, white’s when she finds out about what happened. This is a death sentence. But if its a death sentence, its one she’ll choose for herself. she takes rose’s shield and uses the face of it to shatter pink herself, scooping up rose’s gem and getting as far away as fast as she can. This is the start of a war.

Steven: Oh boi. So i love steven, but theres moments where hes just... not good and the story doesnt stop him from doing that. So if were gonna say hes a kid with emotion based powers, we know hes soft and sweet and excitable. sometimes he pushes people too far because hes trying to do what he thinks is best. I want him to wrestle with the fact that his mom, this person everyone says is good, killed someone. she did something so horrible and she never killed anyone again, but she still did it once. I’d like him to get bits and pieces of his mothers memories and so we get to see the world and flashback things that happened in real time. Maybe he tries to talk to pearl about it, but she still wont instead of cant. He feels like an outcast and everyone would rather his mom be there, but they have him instead. basically a lot of his earlier character arc stuff before garnet and pearl talk to him about how homeworld was. They dont think hes old enough to hear about war, but it seems war is coming back and hes unprepared to face it without learning more. he facilitates more interactions with the townies and now its not just a war of gems against gems, they have humans on their side too and they’ll win!

I gotta get back to highschool

Its been a bit, but im back at school as a senior. We got a new theatre schedule that jas not turned out to be too great but we're pushing through. One of the main set backs as the longest member is teaching newer people by myself. I dont mind it, but then i forget like, HOW new they are and i didnt tell them the difference between a 1x4 and a 2x4. Also our technical director is head of the program and decided to step back as td so now all these directors are coming to me for help and what not. I had a director text me at 10am on a saturday asking me how to unstick our red curtain. Like i appreciate their confidence in me, but ive been here for 4 years compared to some adults who've worked for 15+.

With the new season they wanted to do like a Cabaret style event, but no one really tried out so they scrapped it. Instead it became a halloween-candy-walk-murder-mystery-wizard thing. And after asking like a month in advance of whether they need tech and getting a no, i was told 2 days before the event that they needed a bunch of stuff from the highschool over to the freshman building. So not too happy about it. And we were alaready super behind for our one act festival, which got moved up to the fall instead of the winter. And to top it off, we had not 4, not 5 but 6 directors we had to accommodate for. Everyone now knows that that was a terrible idea and will not be repeated. We barely got the set done before tech week. I even stayed late on Halloween to paint the set because it was the only day no one was rehearsing. I dont really know how you would sm a festival, but i apparently did it says the program.

Now i get a break, next show isnt until feburary, but i sadly cant be involved with. One of the performance days is the same as a showchoir competition (which im now fully recognized as captain) so that means no one in showchoir can be in the show, which takes out a large chunk of our actors and tech. Im still going to help build and im wondering if i could maybe be light board operator so then the show i miss the director or another person could fill in for me. We'll see. And we're still doing newsies as our musical, which is going a bit better since theyve been offering jazz and tap lessons before the auditions.

So thats theatre so far. Uh, for school im taking 4 classes and getting an early release. Im a little behind on applying to colleges for that early action stuff, but ive admittedly been a little busy.

DGDFGDDGOSHDSGI WELL!!!!!! IM PUTTIN THIS UNDER A READ MORE BC ITS LONG AND IVE WENT ON THIS SPIEL BEFORE BUT LEMME SIT YOU DOWN AND TELL U ABOUT TAZ, MY BUDDY

TAZ (the adventure zone) is basically?? a dnd (although, theyve branched out into other games, with different mechanics now) podcast, done by the mcelroy brothers & their dad (you might know them from other things: they have another podcast/tv show called my brother my brother and me, and justin&griffin do a popular series called monster factory on youtube).

there’s currently one BIG campaign (balance, the first one they did, which has 69 episodes discounting liveshows) and then three mini-campaigns that come after it (commitment, amnesty and dust which is literally just starting) which are all independent of one another (i,e: you can totally listen to one and not the other, because theyre totally different universes, with totally different characters)

balance is the longest arc and its the one you’ll see the most fanart and stuff of. it’s a fantasy setting (theyre playing DND) and it starts off?? pretty slow. the whole thing was initially a one-off episode, that soon turned into something a lot bigger: that means the first campaign in the beginning can sometimes turn people off? seeing as it was early days, and not something they’d thought through that much (instead, they learnt along the way - which, i found really Charming tbh, because you can literally see them grow as story tellers and it KILLS me) so a lot of people?? can find the first chunk of Balance kinda hard to chew, especially if you’re new to podcasts (bc they are hard to focus on, lbr) but if you can get through it, TRUST me it’s so, so fucking worth it. like it’s literally... like i cried really hard at the end of it (partyl bc im a baby) and it hass some of my favourite characters of all time and the story is just... so, so fucking juicy. my god. like everyone ive turned onto taz, whos managed to make it that far is pretty ??? fucking in love with it. LIKE I DONT SAY THAT LIGHTLY!!!! I REALLY DONT !!!! BUT TRUST ME IT’S VERY GOOD

however if you think you’re going to struggle taking on something that long, that starts off that slow i’d suggest trying out the second mini-campaign, amnesty. basically after balance finished they started doing experimental, shorter campaigns to see what they wanna do for the next big one . amnesty is DM’d by griffin, who also DM’d Balance - as such, it’s like!! of the same quality level as Balance was by the end, but right off the bat. it’s about 5 episodes long, discounting the setup episode (which isnt necessary to listen to, but it tells you about the characters, game mechanics and settings) and it’s basically a story about a small town called Kepler and features cryptids and monsters and cool shit like that (also: gggay goth girlfriends)

the other two mini-campaigns are commitment and dust.

commitment was DM’d by Clint!! seeing as he hasnt DM’d before, it’s sometimes (imo!! you might like it!!!) not as engaging, but if you like superheroes you might want to give it a try!!! similarly, dust has just started, and is DM’d by Travis - the first episode isn’t until next week, so i dont know the verdict on that, but it’s Also about supernatural creatures & magic (vampires, werewolves, ghosts - that kinda business!) but it’s going to be more of a murder mystery, whereas amnesty was kinda centred about?? OH BIG SCARY MONSTERS IN THE WOODS!!!!

BUT YEAH IM SORRY IF THIS IS SUPER LONG IM JUST A MESS SOIHFOSDHSDOG

TL;DR: TAZ IS GOOD. THE BALANCE ARC IS AMAZING. BUT IF YOU STRUGGLE TRY SKIPPING TO AMNESTY.

alright, this took forever because i kept getting sidetracked, but here it is. the universe ive slowly been building up. it took so long to write. its so ridiculously lengthy. i almost want to apologize to you if you read it oh my god  the main story in this universe is project four, in which four people meet Death and tag along on its quest to convince a space wyrm not to eat the world. the death figure, kymoyef, evades capture for nearly 1000 years following the event that takes place in the four cities, observing people and steadily learning about the world as it stores energy for the big confrontation. as an energy being in the form of an object, kymoyef struggles with applying the concept of personhood to itself, but the four people who insert themselves into its business help it understand who it wants to be kymoyef’s companions love to ask questions and tell stories, one of which is an old folk tale about morality that they know as the four cities. in it, a godlike character asks kymoyef to visit four corrupt cities and raze them to the ground should their corruption be confirmed, so that the seeds of new civilization can be sown in their place. kymoyef goes to the first three places and, finding vanity, enmity, and apathy, destroys them without question. but upon reaching the fourth city and encountering suffering and hopelessness, kymoyef begins to question whether any of these people truly deserved erasure. it refuses to complete its task and instead goes into hiding to plot against the godlike character. kymoyef reveals that this tale is (generally) true  then i began fussing over details and ended up developing a plot within Sorrowstone, the city of suffering and hopelessness, where i show up close just how depressing it is through the perspective of a newcomer named rin. he joins the camp (which has no name historically since no one remembers it really existed) to escape his past and soon realizes that his stay would be permanent. the endless labor, the bleak and isolated environment, the meager food and supplies, the rampant depression of every other person in the camp - all of this combined prevented anyone from being of sound mind enough to leave. rin sees one death and promptly decides he has a duty to write down everything he observed, whether anyone would ever see it or not. that is the sorrowstone account  ok. back to the top. one of the four protagonists, caforleh, absolutely loves hearing stories and using them as inspiration for his own grand tales. i really wanted to feel justified in brainstorming for a completely separate project that had nothing to do with project four, so i clapped my hands together and declared that caforleh occasionally works on a piece of fiction that is my project inheritance, in which generation after generation of a particular lineage of siblings are all cursed to the same fate. in their lives, only and always two children will be born, quite often twins, and one will die by the actions of the other at some point. the most recent siblings are separated at a very young age after the murder of their mother, but years later one dies all too suddenly and the adults involved are sent into a panic trying to hide it from the other sibling. magic shit happens and basically you have the dead ones consciousness in the body of their sibling, not realizing theyre dead yet technically alive again, and the living ones consciousness is bound to a piece of paper in a wizard’s pocket. and everyone’s trying to run away from a cult faction that wants their leader back, but surprise, the living sibling was their leader. its a convoluted mess  in the background of this mess i found a nice little home for the magic pendant, a story that is literally just my 11th grade spanish project. a guy has a cool magic pendant. some magic dude steals it. the guy and his friend get a magic knife from a magic squirrel and kick magic dudes ass. so magical. i took that and pumped in extra details that made me happy, and now its officially enough of a story to be included  once more to the top. within the world of project four, one of the regions is plagued by a deep rift that scarred the land when scientist daiah’s experiment went horribly wrong. it swallowed several cities and poisoned the people and land around it. the survivors call that area daiah’s shame and send excommunicated criminals there to die as punishment. what they have yet to discover is that the rift is truthfully a tear upon their plane of existence, acting as an opening into an adjacent plane where pure energy resides. the land and people lost in the experiment fell into this other plane perfectly intact, but being that the two planes were never meant to interact in this way, were shortly infected with unknowable ailments. people slowly lost their sanity, their agency, anything that made them who they were. they either became husks or sought violence to distract themselves from their own pain. and the only freedom was to be killed, for time affected nothing in this plane. no one could grow old. the sky never moved. plants absorbed strange air and gnarled into bloated bastardizations  this is the reality that the protagonists of project dark souls ripoff fell into. wayrain had been traveling with a known criminal through daiah’s shame in the hopes of reaching a region beyond it, and his friend cadmor was secretly a member of law enforcement tasked with making sure the criminal died there. when this was revealed, the three fought and all of them stumbled into the rift to be spat out in the desolate climate of the lost region. i was heavily inspired by dark souls in creating all of this, so honestly just imagine the opening scene of whichever dark souls game and you’ve got the idea of it. wayrain and cadmor have to navigate this sickly area that theyve hardly even heard stories of while also dealing with dangerous people, feeling betrayed by one another, and creeping afflictions. much like rin and caforleh, wayrain takes to learning as much as he possibly can about the surroundings and compiling it all into journals. he travels ceaselessly and does his best to uncover every last mystery, from lost libraries to unmarked graves. cadmor battles his imitation morality as he eases into another role of leadership. the two will clash several times but ultimately reconcile before kymoyef shows up to assess the condition of the rift  and project fire girl is kinda out of place because it feels entirely standalone, but its actually the origin of most of this stuff, so im hoping i can find a way to squeeze it in somehow. its about a person who wakes up in a fire with no knowledge of how she got there and wanders around aimlessly dealing with the destructive repercussions of her mysterious fire powers, which she can barely control. i know. its sort of like frozen but with fire. but hey spoiler alert: she’s actually a wizard scientist (you can tell i really like my wizards and scientists) that, alongside her cousin, did awful experiments on people in the name of magic science, imbuing them with different forms of magic just to see what happens. and she gave herself fire powers because why the hell not. but the internal flame was so painful that the trauma of it elicited amnesia. she regains these memories in time by meeting the people plagued by the consequences of her actions. not knowing shes the one that did this to them, they work together with her and carry out a plan to expose the other wizard scientist. in the final confrontation, she admits that she regrets what shes done even if the academic community learned a lot from it, and allows herself to be imprisoned  yeah. like i said, project fire girl was the first narrative in this universe, which came from a dream where she was taken in by an old couple and their adopted daughter and awoke in a bed of bright petals, only to realize that she accidentally set the house on fire in her sleep, killing the whole family. the imagery was so vivid that it stuck with me. project four originated from one of my old minecraft worlds that i unfortunately deleted by mistake and then tried to rebuild. but i couldnt remember what the old build was called so i called it arenos, and that became the first region. once i decided that fire girl was gonna be set in some mountains and that those mountains bordered arenos, i was officially on my way to creating what is now this world. and then more detail happened and kymoyef happened and the concept of the four cities being parallels to the four regions in the world sounded neat but i got carried away and wanted to try to recreate the four cities in minecraft, and only did sorrowstone, so i started to think of what depressing shit went on in that place and wrote a little bit about it  the dark souls ripoff is, of course, a blatant ripoff of dark souls, but its also a combination of A) another neat dream i had that was just two people traveling on horseback through cold morning fog and being ambushed - one was killed and the other crawled to a nearby basement and hid for an eternity, until the landscape had entirely changed hundreds of years later - and B) a totally separate dream where two people were traveling on horseback through cold evening fog, trying to reach some uncertain destination after having to leave their entire lives behind because they were magic. i was like “i’ve just added two more regions to my world. what if this region has a big rift in it - oh, what if this person hid through the rift incident that sent them to an alternate plane - no wait, what if these other characters were traveling through the rift area and fell in?”  project inheritance was first called dark souls ripoff 2 because it deals with souls being portable and consumable and the two siblings have to deal with increasing insatiability for souls to keep themselves alive after having their consciousnesses ripped from their bodies. but this story was originally gonna be a text adventure game with like seven hundred endings (im exaggerating a little) testing your ability to forgive and manage your bloodlust. i know. its like a bootleg undertale. i cant have an original thought even if that thought happened two years before the popular thing happened  thats about it i guess. thats the beginners guide to my utterly incomplete creative endeavors. i have some other ideas that would be neat to pursue but they dont belong in this particular universe as of right now. i might find a way to make them fit. i might not

Alright; continuing again the HoXPoX Readthrough with House of X #6; I'm on the last two now ^v^ The cover's a variant again; seems to be a collection of villains.

Opening X Quote: "Is what we have perfect? No. *What Is*? But it's a *start* -- and a *good one*" So I guess we'll be dealing with some of the negatives of the Krakoa ideology?? Maybe??? Let's see :>

Cut to: Krakoa, one month ago, Moira's No-Place. Kinda freaky, nestled "upside donw" among some roots, and there's a backup "cradle" there for the Cerebro mind downloads.

It's his announcement of their plan to the humans of earth(broadcast telepathically, individually, to all of them at once, so also letting everyone know just how powerful a telepath he is) & it makes the strong case for Krakoa; non-mutants have stood by while mutants were killed

This sequence is a series of reaction shots of ppl hearing the speech and obvsl they're meaningful collections of text and image. Some notables: a pic of the avengers as he mentions the genocides; of the Fantastic 4 with "you have not earned it"(their gift)...

..."well let you pay for it" Dr. Strange in the penthouse of his Manhattan Brownstone; ORCHIS command under "you make our lives better we'll make your lives better"; Mags, Proud; Moira, trepidation&determined. Ending with X and "while you slept the world changed"

It's really heartbreaking how simple and small what he's asking for is, and it's composed well as the final anguished "defeat" of a man of peace, choosing separation and real politick over his dream of human solidarity.

Infopage, revised Quiet Council chart: Only one seat remains hidden; the "Red King" within the "Spring" faction(Hellfire Corp). Also lists the "Great Captains"; their war leaders.

Cut to Krakoa, a Council meeting. The Players are defined: "Family"(XMen seats), "Friends"(Hellfire, Red King absent), "Allies"(Old Enemies), the a frame of The Big Three(X, Mags,&Apoc), then cut to Krakoa and Cypher to start the metting.

Mystique's part of the "Villain" seats, and I love how she's studiously ignoring the proceedings uwu

It's time to make some laws. And judge Sabertooth. Sinister is a trip. Apoc wonders why it should be illegal to kill mutants when they can be brought back. Jean says, if greatness of purpose is the goal, killing those who CANT come back(humans) should be banned...

Mystique objects on self-defense grounds, Mags gens it to defending Krakoa/Mutantkind("the nation"), and agrees with Jean that murder of humans should be banned, X asks for objections, none, Sabertooth objects to being made an example, Frost tries to compel silence he fights it

...Jean adds her weight, Sabertooth is "pacified"(cant say I agree with this, but it's more humane than the usual methods). Shaw argues for capitalism, Cypher points out "Krakoa's a person, my dude", Exodus agrees; Krakoa is an Eden when should be for all and held free in itself

They agree Krakoa should be for all and itself and not property. Mystique decides now to play the atheist and needle her son, Kurt, for his piety. A Great Face here:

They condemn Creed for violating these laws, retroactively(not great), and condemn him(as if many here arent worse, but he's pretty awful) He, of course, threatens mass murder. Mystique just wants it over with(abstains I guess), other than that it's unanimous. Condemned to what?

his punishment is to be held in aware stasis within Krakoa "for eternity", which X defines as basically until they think he might be useful(ie "redeem" himself) Honestly I think this is an awful&easily abuseable punishment system&redundant when youre tripping over mind-alterers

I mean: I realize it's something ppl recoil at, and there are obvs drawbacks to it, but all human behavior is a result of their brains&and theyve reacted to their environment. Evil isnt real beyond awful actions committed to others and reform is very possible.

so the question is one of what punishment is just for what he's done, and how to "reform" him. Reformation's easy with all the telepath's around, and an "eternal" punishment is way too long. And "sentence by whim" is ALWAYS an awful system, easily prone to abuse.

Everyone but Mystique's and Storm's eyes are on X, Emma is surprise, Kurt watchful, Jean ready to jump from her chair. Mystique is looking at where Creed was, and Storm, I think, is watching Mystique. Shaw is Appraising. Leaving Sinister does not look happy, despite his flippancy

the last trio; I wonder if that's a joke?(He's a devout catholic, and has been a priest in the past, so Hellfire) or foreshadowing of an alliance btw him & Hellfire, or both.

X talks abt governing in parenthood allegory(another bad sign |:T) as they walk out to a massive party filled with resurrected mutants. Everybody seems to be getting Drunk and Handsy :p And one questionable act of forgiveness. Some great character drawing tho.

Ends with an infopage detailing Krakoa Atlantic. That was fun, but I'd have liked more time spent on the whole government and laws thing, but it IS a comic book with VERY limited page-space. Just one left!
