ok but imagine the pjo/hoo gang (living my dream and) going to a taylor swift concert-
annabeth, piper and leo are the ones to make the plans
they're also the ones to use greek fire to melt down drachmas and sell the gold to buy tickets
percy is the next one invited because
"you don't understand annabeth, I AM NEW YORK CITY AND I BETTER STILL DO IT FOR YOU"
annabeth: "why? worried i'll decide you're not my type?"
percy: *offended*
will (the local southern boy) is in too since he's been on this train since she was just country singer, and he brings nico with him
nico: "i'm not going out to listen to some overrated pop st- *listens to rep/folklore* son of a bitch i'm in"
just remembered annabeth is a technically a southern girl too and now im picturing annabeth and will screaming the lyrics to picture to burn like their partners aren't in the next room over so enjoy that mental image
if yall have more to say about this pls reblog my mind is your playground

deeply refreshing to see someone critical of Swift who also like, genuinely likes her. Like i'm neutral to positive on her, but the online discourse has been absolutely rancid. flipping between "Taylor Swift has never done anything wrong ever and she's a fucking genius" and "Taylor Swift is the worst lyricist of all time and also a bad person" is exhausting, so thank you for like. nuance or something lmao
not to make it serious for a sec but i genuinely think that being able to like things that are bad is really important. like I think that it's an important skill to be able to look at something and see what you personally enjoy about it and then take a step back and acknowledge that objectively it's flawed. and to also be able to acknowledge that liking something isn't necessarily an identity or a moral stance. and i think that fandom space in general could really benefit from more people taking the time to learn how to do that. it's okay to like things that are bad

As a former boyfriend to a toxic bitch like this, I cannot stress enough how much I don't listen to Taylor Swift, but this? Oh id frame this in my house and look at it everytime I need a reminder that yeah, bitches like this are really out there.
Take me for example, my dad died and then a best friend IN REAL LIFE committed suicide, and I wasn't giving her enough attention BECAUSE GRIEF OVER THE DEATH OF TWO PEOPLE I VERY MUCH LOVED HOLY SHIT so this was almost what was sent to me verbatim before being dumped with a, and I shit you not, 'godspeed 💅🏻'. So yeah I very much believe in the brainrot miss swift causes because the fact I got dumped with a line that wasn't even out, from her favorite artist, fucking MONTHS AND MONTHS before this drops? Yeah fuck you.
YES!!! IT IS INSENSITIVE!!!!
I lost better when I lost my father, and gods I hope you see this because I don't have the ability to say it to your wicked and beyond fucking cruel face.

okay im curious about something
i already know which of these results will get the most votes i think, but im mostly curious how many people became a fan of one through the other!
(also this isnt really about who you prefer, unless you only listen to one of them, so even if youre just like a casual fan of one/both, it still counts!)
(pls reblog to spread to more people etc etc!)

Okay but can we talk about how Swifties act like they're soooo oppressed for being a fan when literally everyone here will say that we feel alone in NOT liking her? Most people I know who say they don't like her have stories abt Swifties freaking out on them bc how can you not like her, who's not a Swiftie in this day and age, but you have to admit she's girlboss slay #feminismqueen... like you can't even not give a fuck about her, you HAVE to say sth complimentary about her success
And yet Swifties took a page from their "mothers"🙄 book and play at being the most oppressed people on earth
It's giving footballers⚽️ who act like they're dying when someone breathes on them except i still respect those guys more
LITERALLY. there’s a reason why people come and rant on anon because theyre TOO SCARED to talk about their dislike for miss swift without pissing off their swiftie mutuals. being scared of openly disliking your friends fave bc of the intense backlash is not normal!!!!!!! AT ALL!!!!!!!

The way people are responding to Taylor Swift's new album because they don't think she is tortured or mentally ill enough to call it that is fucking embarrassing.
God forbid an artist ever exaggerates for artistic purpose. God forbid a celebrity writes about pain or suffering if they haven't experienced the maximum amount of trauma in their life.
I mean, everyone knows the moment you become a celebrity all your human experience disappears and you elevate to a new level of existence where you cannot have relatable experiences anymore for the rest of your life.

stuck between muting Taylor swift off my dash to preserve my own sanity or keeping things as they are out of morbid curiosity of what horrible terrible lyric has been unearthed from this unreasonably long album

the thing is i understand people who make fun of swifties who are so adamant about her being "the best songwriter of our generation" or whatever. i personally believe she is very good lyrically, but to my mind it only truly shines in speak now, (some songs on) red, folklore, and evermore. most of her other albums range from lyrically okay-good to meh-cringe (vigilante shit i'm never forgiving you), but the thing is. that's literally not a problem? are we above mindless, fun pop songs? i can shake ass to 22 while simultaneously recognizing that the lyrics are Very Much average hot 100 billboard. this goes both to swifties who think every single one of swift's lines was crafted by calliope herself and to deny that is to be a misogynistic hater—she's been the most influential artist in the world for at least 10 years, of course her discography has to be built on accessibility and songwriting tropes & easy options—, and to bad-faith critics who only ever use shake it off as a counterargument to her way with words, as if she hadn't written hundreds of songs. she has pop hits and a lot of them are Lyrically Average, only enhanced by how abysmally vacuous a lot of charting songs are. but she also has delightful songs that read like poetry. yes the sexy baby line exists but so does "i'd meet you where the spirit meets the bones, in a faith-forgotten land / in from the snow, your touch brought forth an incandescent glow, tarnished but so grand". get over it.
