That's mostly so he doesn't hurt his neck looking down at you and so you don't break your neck looking up at him

Will physically pick you up and move you if you refuse to leave a restricted area(Like the stairs to the attic)

Purposely asks you to get things off higher shelves that are just barely within reach to watch you struggle

He wouldn't readily admit that, that's what he's doing tho

On a more wholesome note he happily gets things off the top shelf for you

He's extra protective over you since he worries other demons may take advantage of how small you are

He doesn't doubt your capabilities its just that these are DEMONS they're a lot stronger than humans despite your or their height

The height thing 100% makes him more concerned however

He does make jokes about carrying you around in his pocket

He's a very private person but when you two are alone he very much enjoys holding you in his arms.

This was the first thing he pointed out about you

ok listen their relationship is extremely important to the plot of the game so they get a lot of focus and a lot of the stuff they say abt each other is like????? bro thats kinda fruity ngl??????? theres like. a lot of stuff i could say about them. like a lot. too much actually

so instead ill just, idk summarize their relationship and then give some fun facts abt them

Sunny and Basil are best friends! They're shown to be very close to each other, closer than they are to the rest of their friends. They rely on each other to listen when they need to vent, and like to read books together! Before the events of the game, Sunny and Basil become involved in an incident that basically tears their friend group apart. Basil keeps the secret of their involvement from everyone because he cares too much about Sunny to let him get in trouble. They then don't talk for four years, and spend the entire time pining for each other!

Basil hopes for four years that Sunny will finally come back to him, meanwhile Sunny has retreated into a perfect dreamworld he uses to cope. All of his friends are there, and everyone is happy, and the dreamworld is full of things Basil loves. The most common food item is tofu(Basil's favorite food), there's an entire race of plant creatures that adore tofu(Basil likes to garden + his favorite food), his garden in the dreamworld is huge and has lots of flowers that represent each of his friends! Also, an important NPC says this abt Sunny and Basil's relationship: "He is special to you. A string of fate ties you together." A string of fate you say? Hmmm, I wonder why they phrased it like that...

Also, when Sunny and Basil finally do start talking again, Basil says stuff like this: "W...Wait... P-Please, SUNNY... Don't leave me... Not again..." "After all this time... you've finally come back for me. But... tomorrow... you're going away. H-HOW COULD YOU DO THAT!?!? That's mean, SUNNY. That's so mean!" Yeah... he's not doing too well...

But don't worry! After a year or two of therapy I'm sure these two can have a happy, healthy relationship!

Obviously I have a lot more to say abt them but it's all literary analysis and context clues and stuff, I just wanted to point out the more obvious stuff!

Propaganda for Huey Duck/Wakko Warner:

Huey and Wakko are classic opposite attrack characters, while also touches of "you're drawn to people who remind you of your family" thrown in. They're both very autistic coded characters (because their shows are cowards and refuse to say the word) but in opposite ways. Wakko is very outside of the norm where as Huey holds himself to a strict set of rules. While Huey adds a bit of routine to Wakko's life, Wakko encourages Huey to cut back, go outside of his comfort zone at his own pace and also relax a little. Wakko reminds Huey of both his siblings, excitable and dramatic like Dewey, and laid back (compared to his siblings) and mischevious like Louie, where as Huey reminds Wakko of his own siblings. A bit more uptight and bratty like Dot, and intelligent and encouraging like Yakko. They also bring out different sides of each other, Wakko can be gross and messy and Huey somehow finds it charming, and Huey can help Wakko see that he's intelligent and creative in his own ways rather than being outshined by his own siblings. They both also have anger issues, and Wakko would be great at helping Huey to feel his anger rather than always keeping it hidden away. He makes Huey feel seen and heard and taken care of because Huey doesn't have to be the Older BrotherTM around Wakko. Basically just opposites attract autistic kids who help each other come into one another.

Lake Donner Snowman: idk if this counts as a headcanon per se but in my very short list where i recast the puppets as famous singers, he is ABSOLUTELY voiced by Weird Al Yankovic.

St. Nick's Wet Bones: sort of taking the whole purgatory thing in stride. he kinda feels like he's in retirement! now he's a minor agent of chaos who's looked after by his darling Pickle Boys

Beast of Gevaudan: i was so sad when the infinitiger wasn't real, i wanted them to have a cooking show together so badly and destroy the horse's self-esteem. i love him. hes so abominably french

Stool of Gold: well-traveled, well-read, literally just as sensible as the Book or the Oars, but finds the chaos entertaining to spectate.

Ziryab's Oud: I think that the puppets have divvied up the whole Wondrium Arena and all have designated Living Areas, and he has a whole dressing room filled with shitty costumes he can't even wear. every time someone knocks he answers like hes on MTV's Cribs.

Bye Bye Brothers: they live in the orchestral pit and treat it like a secret lair. only other Murderer Puppets are allowed in. EXCLUSIVE club

Flower Boat: GNC Icon. this is a flower boat stan account. jenuinely a wholesome, emotional vessel doing their best to pitch in.

Molasses Horse: you can wash him as much as you want, that shit always just comes back somehow. the book theorizes it's psychosomatic at this point, since they're technically only souls at this point.

Tiny Piece of Wheat: bro i bet they went through SUCH phases after finding out about the professor's death. like all five stages of grief and then four more that have not yet been discovered by humans. dw kiddo, u got Grandparents incoming

Scabs & Pus: they get to hang out with the Bye Bye Brothers in their little club :) they're gross dudes to look at and be around. but they are ultimately harmless and friendly and just happy to be included.

Book: i love da book. I think he lives in the music library backstage and finds librettos for stageplays/musicals to pitch to the group to put on, as well as produces their little TV shows.

Birch Trees: since they share a root system, they have a telepathic link and communicate without even speaking, which is fucking creepy as hell when one or both of them just start laughing out of nowhere. they probably enjoy acting sinister

Asmodeus: he worked HARD on his song for the show!!!!! i think he's a bit of a ham sometimes when he gets the chance. also his goat head bites literally anything that comes close on reflex.

The Devil: while everything he does is to get souls, it also feels like he wants for positive and is less an Enemy of God and more an Irritating Coworker. in my brain they have a whole Tom and Jerry thing going on.

I don't have anything for the Fake Puppets the Substitute impersonated, but im planning on drawing some infinitiger soon bc he was my fave for sure

The Substitute: this is PURELY crack but i think it would be hilarious if he had voice commands like some tech does. i want him to climb back in the window and ryan just yells XBOX TURN OFF and he vanishes.

Dino Dad/Dinosir: i think even after he gets to the present and learns about all kinds of rocks and gems and crystals he Still just loves a big old rock he can lay on and sun himself with. like a dad and his armchair. doesnt gotta be fancy, just has to be comfy.

Dino Mom/Dinosara: i think she would be REALLY into the fake tv shows the puppets in the Wondrium Arena make. and they'd probably Love to have her as a fan. i think both the professor's parents are Hella popular.

BIG tuesday

i skipped last tuesday because i was working on a take-home exam and simply did not have the time nor the inclination, so: beefy tuesdaypost today!

listening: my brother recommended 'dead magic' by anna von hausswolff and boy what an album. gothic, punchy, very vibey. the kind of album you let wash over you like an ocean wave.

pulled 'mostly kosher' from my to-listen list. fun, funky, very jewish, good vibes. ikh hob dikh tsufil lib

i've continued to mainline borodin symphonies 1 & 2. idk they're just hitting right.

and the new pieces for the orchestra i'm in - very french this time round: debussy's fêtes: kinda spooky and ominous and also fluid in a fun way! lots of buildup that seems to resolve into nothingness. horn parts for this are pretty good, not too difficult but are definitely Heard. chabrier's españa: really bumpin horn parts. fun bouncy motifs. what's not to like.

pocasting-wise, i'm up to partizan 38. 10 episodes left!!! the home stretch!!!!! it's so good but things are definitely amping up in the end-of-fatt-season way.

i've also listened to my friend b's gotham tv show podcast 'jim gordon must die'. very good and funny. i laughed out loud at some of the episode 3 descriptions.

reading: i was stuck in Bad Airport Times this past saturday (flight delayed 3 hours, then sat for an hour on the tarmac, arrived at 10pm when i was originally supposed to arrive at like 630) so i blasted through all ~150k words of 'freefall' by Kunoichi21 and xoTsundoku. bog-standard mafia au, but with a fun little circus arts twist; fun background fengqing; i do not like that they made beefleaf wholesome. give me my toxic beefleaf god damn it. but otherwise it was a fun read, sappy romcom-style. the fic itself isn't quite done but it's in endgame. the author notes have peak fanfic culture energy of "hey guys! sorry i didn't update, i started nursing school and my dad died" bro .... ;___; goddamn. please take care of urselves

watching: we are almost done with kill la kill! last two eps!!! so tonight we're doing that and also watching last week's dunmeshi together.

friend and i finished comrade detective. incredible. no notes. so funny. we started 'endeavour' which is a detective morse prequel thing and goddd the british-isms, and also started serial experiments lain. i don't know what i was expecting but god it was not this. i literally thought this was a cute fun hacker mystery show in the energy of cowboy bebop. it is Not That. not even close. it's good though i'm enjoying it. currently staggering through life going uhhhhh like lain does in the first few eps.

playing: fallow. i am re-installing disco elysium on my computer though. ive been wondering if i should try to keep going on the save file from last year or if i should just start over because i barely got in there at all.

making: many things. pottery!! some good some not as good.

so this design came out SO nice but the underglaze is so gd streaky! i hate it !!! i don't think it's really fixable either, i tried the hairspray trick to put new solid glaze over top the inside so at least that would look less like shit but i could not get it to work. maybe sanding it down? idk. it's ugly. it was supposed to be a bright teal but the woman who runs the studio mixed the batch up wrong so it's like. a really drab gray and not in a fun or intentional way. idk.

some new bisque:

teacups came out! still mismatched but cute nonetheless! gonna do them in a sort of celadon-type color with white flowers to match the teapot that my SO has :)

i don't feel like adding more photos for these lol they're very boring. the pot for my mom came out fine i think. gonna go in with normal white glaze over top to paint in some trees or other botanical designs. i sponged the underglaze on so hopefully the final result won't be streaky. sponged red on my seder plate to hopefully accomplish the same thing. mugs came through the bisque with no issues but i didn't do anything fun with underglaze on one of them so no new pics of that, but the other i did this tree thing again:

i KNOW it'll be streaky as hell. i just know. so i'm considering how i want to do it. perhaps putting some slightly transparent green over the top of it all to meld it together? unsure.

some new stuff: made a citrus juicer, this was attempt number 2 and just barely got it to work, attempt 1 was a total disaster. also made another mug type object, hopefully it'll still be wet enough this weekend to slap a handle on.

two mugs with red clay, i really loved the lascaux mugs that jessica bartram put up for sale last year but i didnt snag one in time so i was like. fuck it. i will make my own. gonna let them dry to leather hard before going in with black underglaze.

i've been trying to draw again but. idk. i just feel very uninspired. i start drawing and it's like :| :| :|

eating: i was on my own food-wise for much of the last week because my roommate was babysitting for the rabbi, so i did not eat nearly as extravagantly as i normally do, LOL. i made a lo mein recipe that was kinda just a stir fry. this could have been my fault because i added a bunch of extra shit like bok choy and mushrooms. i also didn't use the correct type of noodle, and i didnt have oyster sauce so i used worcestershire, etc. many substitutions so it's probably not fair for me to say it was Just Fine. will have to try again at some later date actually following the recipe. herb and radish salad with feta and walnuts: delicious. 10/10. i tossed in some extra arugula and that was also good. and i made the tofu brussel sprouts tahini/hoisin sauce thing again because it's easy and tasty.

One of my favorite things of watching PSG games (I only watch them for Neymessi obvi cause watching PSG physically pains me otherwise lmao) is that everytime someone or Neymessi make a goal Neymessi has to have an obligatory, private, mini celebration. Like they legit hug everybody and then they have find each like they're magnets. They just HAVE to hug eachother no matter what. And even if they already did a group hug then they have to have a hug just the two of them and I think that's just so fucking wholesome! They love each other so much! Hey, Idk if you'l take this little angsty but wholesome idea that I wanted to share and maybe you can make into a fanfic if you want:

What if Mario and Luigi (I'm asuming they're twins) have a triplet? Who helps them with their plumbing business and other things, all having a wonderfull sibling bond. But after the battle with Bowser, that triplet feels worthless because: their brothers where the heroes, get complemented a lot, and basically throw them into the shadow of their brothers, since they have nothing special besides being "the triplet of the SUPER Mario BROS." In this case, Mario and Luigi comfort their sibling telling them that they are special and they try that people see that their sibling is more than a "zero to the left" showing what they do and including them in the adventures the have.

Maybe even Peach can help with that

Your brothers knew you and wanted to work alongside you if that meant you'd come back. So you happily agreed and headed on the first plane back, planning on sleeping in a hotel until you got your own place.

Sadly bad luck seemed to follow in your footsteps as you entered that condo with that dreaded dog. Causing chaos and destruction as it went after you and your siblings. The place was a mess and you were sitting on the floor in agony as Mario pulled the dog back in through the window. Luigi was as nervous as ever as he tried to look over your ankle.

Mario and Luigi spoke to each other before Mario nodded and went into the kitchen. Luigi stayed back to help take off your shoes.

"Mario went to tell mom and dad you're here. He's making sure they don't rush over and overwhelm you." Luigi spoke calmly and you couldn't help but smile.

"Thank you Lu." You muttered as you heard the footsteps of your mother and father rushing over. There was only so much Mario could do as they asked you a bunch of questions. You answered them the best you could before being dragged over to dinner. It wasn't long before even that got awkward. Your dad opened his mouth to speak.

"I think you're nuts. You don't leave a steady job for some crazy dream! And the worst part, you're bringing your brother down with you." You looked between Mario and your dad. His tough love was always something that put a bit of a wedge in between their relationship. Mario had stormed off to his room, Luigi following close by after. You turned your attention to your dad and spoke.

"Dad c'mon. You know that they couldn't stay there for much longer anyways." *You tried to defend your brothers yet your father shook his head.*

"You know your brothers, they're always so impulsive. I just have to look out for them. I don't want them running away like you." *His voice was firm as he stared at you. Putting a bite of food in his mouth as he was seemingly waiting for your response. There was nothing you could do to defend yourself so you forced yourself to stand. Balancing on one foot with your hands against the table.

"Well don't be surprised if they do!" With that you stormed off to your brother's room. You had always regretted saying that. Especially after you heard Mario's idea to go and save Brooklyn.

"Come on guys please. It'll be fine. I'll be careful." You began to beg to come along. Worried for your brothers.

"If you go with us then you may get hurt even worse this time." Mario replied as Luigi picked up the bag of tools. You were about to respond before Luigi spoke up. Walking over and grabbing your hands.

"It's not that we don't trust you to help, but it's flooding down there. If you aren't able to stand up then you may get washed away." Luigi explained, squeezing your hands slightly. You knew he was right so you sighed and sat down on the bed.

"Fine. Only because if you two get in trouble I'll be here to bail you out." You joked which caused Mario to give a soft laugh.

"Oh speaking of trouble, you stay out of it. Got it? Don't need to come back to find out you've fought with dad or our uncles while we're gone." Mario walked over to you and ruffled your hair like he always used to do. It was clear he must have heard at least the shouting you did. You put your hands up as you spoke.

"Only if they don't stop. It's my job to tease you both." You poked at their stomachs playfully causing Luigi to laugh and Mario to smile. Both pushing your hands away as you laughed. Luigi began to poke you back as he fought back against your attack! You laughed before accidently yanking your leg up and sending a jolt of pain through your ankle. Luigi stopped immediately to make sure you were okay. You took a few deep breaths before relaxing. That's when Luigi took a step backwards before smugly smirking.

"Guess I win." He proudly declared before a pillow was thrown right into his face. Mario couldn't help but laugh at this point. You loved spending these moments with each other. You missed it.

"Okay okay, you should get going before it gets worse." You hated this.

"Yeah okay, we'll be back soon!" Mario wouldn't come back.

"Cya soon Y/N!" Luigi wouldn't come back.

"Bye!" That was the last time you saw them.

It's been three days. You've been wandering around, limping as you forced yourself through the town. It felt so empty without them there. They were gone. You looked around for any sign of their green or red outfits. Dried tears stained your cheeks as the pain in your heart out weighed the pain in your ankle. Your mother and father had questioned you intensely for where they were. You at first were reluctant but by the time it had come to the next morning you told them everything. That fight with your father and uncles was bad. You shouted and screamed at them for making your brothers feel like they have to prove themselves to them. To how much you felt like a failure to them all. Your mother tried to calm you down but you couldn't. You became a blubbering mess as you feared you lost your brothers the same way they lost you. Guilt wrapping around your mind as you took off to your brother's room. Locking it and sobbing into one of the blankets.

You barely spoke to your parents and uncles besides mumbling sorries to them as you passed. Everyone was tense in the Mario household, each dealing with their own grief, your mom worried about the worst and your dad thinking they just ran away.

Even as you thought about this you became a husk of who you were. They were your hope that maybe, just maybe things could go back to being okay. That you had a chance to just spend time with your siblings after the intensity of the demolition crew. When you finally focused back on the world you felt the hot air against your skin. They were still hiding behind the clouds as you stared up at the sky. Squinting as you felt your eyes burn. You shoved your arm against your face, wiping away the tears that fell from your eyes.

You took a deep breath before stumbling into Punch-Out Pizzeria. Shoving yourself onto the barstool and closing your eyes. Placing your head in your arms. Your moment of peace didn't last long as someone came over to you.

"Hey, welcome to Punch-Out Pizzeria, what would you like to order?" The woman asked with a customer service smile on her face.

"You can't get me what I want." You mumbled into your arms softly, your voice barely above a whisper.

"Can you please sit up, I can't hear you." The woman tried to be polite, yet she was clearly drained from the work of the day.

"Sorry sorry," You apologized as you sat up. "I'll just take a water bottle and a slice of cheese pizza. That's all."

"Coming right u-" BOOM! Concrete and giant mushrooms went flying by! Car alarms began to blare as blue smoke came tumbling towards the pizzeria! A large dragon-like face with glowing red eyes and gaping jaw fell to the ground! Its skin looked black and rough as it came down to attack the city! Your eyes grew wide as you looked back, your body moving on its own as you rushed out of the building! Running back towards your parents apartment as you fought off the smoke that filled your lungs! You couldn't leave your family behind, you couldn't leave them to get destroyed by this monster!

Your efforts only could get you so far as your ankle began to throb! The pain overwhelms you as you fall forward! Desperately clawing at the concrete as you pushed yourself over to an alley way only to just miss being wrecked by flying debris! You clung onto the wall grabbing a gutter to pull yourself back upwards, hearing distant shouting and metal clanging as you looked around desperately for any sense of direction.

That's when a blaze of fire shot out from somewhere! Blasting the car as something scrambled away from the blast!

"YOU RUINED MY WEDDING! I WAS FINALLY GOING TO BE HAPPY!" The beast screeched at the figure that was crawling away! The green shelled turtle dragon thing marched into view for a split second before passing by the alley way you hid in. You took this moment as an opportunity to use the building as support as you hurried to your parents apartment.

Your vision began to blur as you saw what looked like a princess, a gorilla, and a walking mushroom run past you towards the dragon. Smaller turtles running behind and chasing after them. You shake your head and push past the best you could before falling to the side. Holding your arms over your head as you try to protect yourself. This is it, you were losing it. Or if this was real you were as sure as dead. If Mario and Luigi were here, they'd know what to do. They'd have been strong enough.

You had blacked out for who knows how long, only opening your eyes to what felt like an earthquake. You sat up in a daze, looking out and expecting fire to have consumed the town. Only to see figures of brown, green, red, and white on top of a pile of rubble.

"mario... lu...igi...?" Brows furrowing as you mumble. A small spark of hope sat amongst the despair and grief that lasted the past few days. That's when you heard your parents call out to them. It was them, it was your brothers. A smile grew on your face as you sat there and relaxed for the first time ever since they had disappeared. Closing your eyes as you took a deep breath.

You were about to exhale before someone had grabbed you by your shoulders and was practically shaking you. Your eyes shot open as you tried to push whoever it was off.

"Y/N! Y/N! What happened!?" Luigi didn't notice your failed attempts to shove him off as he grabbed at your arms. Checking you for wounds before putting a hand to your face. You hissed as he rubbed his thumb against a gash in your forehead. Mario wasn't too far behind as he looked panicked. Desperately reaching for Luigi as he finally caught up to him.

"Lu! You can't run off like that- Y/N!" Mario's panic only grew as he saw you. All you could do was smile up at your brothers before pushing yourself up against the wall. Mario and Luigi stepping forward and grabbing at your arms to help support you up. You pulled them into a tight hug, tears flowing down your cheeks as you began to sob. The brothers were shocked but soon Luigi joined in with the crying. Pulling Mario and you closer to him.

"Hey it's okay, we're- we're back in Brooklyn. We're back. We're..." Mario tried to comfort you and Luigi before a few tears fell from his own face. The triplets' arms clung to each other as they sobbed and cried. Each from their own stresses yet all three feared to let go of the other two.

The week that followed was filled with worry and dread. Mario and Luigi never quite acted the same after coming back from this supposed Mushroom Kingdom. Whatever happened has changed them. While you knew they tried to hide it, you could always tell when your brothers were hiding something.

Luigi had always been so skittish. Whether due to his social anxiety or autism he always was somewhat off. He never used to jump at the clanking of the pans or when mom wrapped him up in a hug. Plus his change of outfit from his normal long sleeved shirts to shorter sleeves. Even then that could be explained by the stress of the new environment he went to. What set you off was how Mario was reacting.

Mario always wanted to be close with you and Luigi to the point it almost felt suffocating. You couldn't walk two steps away before looking back and seeing Mario following or just staring at you. There were even points where he would pull you or Luigi over to where the other stood. Most of the time the brothers came to you due to Luigi seemingly feeling safer around you both.

Luckily after that week they seemed to be feeling better. Their smiles returned by now and they seemed to be eating once again. That's when you had a grand idea. You threw on your shirt, grabbed your shoes, ready to go out.

"Y/N? Where are you going?" Mario came out wearing his red Brooklyn shirt. A hint of panic in his eyes as he stared at you.

"Oh I was just going to go see if Punch Out Pizza was back up and running again! You can go and sleep some more. I know it's fairly early." You offered, grabbing your hat and putting it on your head. Mario shook his head.

"No no, we'll come with. Let me go get Luigi." Mario yawned as he walked off. You would have fought him on it but he seemed willing to come out of the house. You were taking this chance while you could, waiting for your brothers.

It took them a bit before they came out. You smiled at them as you left the apartment building. Mario stood in between you and Luigi as normal as you walked down the sidewalk.

"So where are we going?" Luigi stuttered out. Wringing his hands together as he spoke softly.

"To see if Punch Out Pizza is back and open yet. I thought if it was then we could go out later! Since we're all here now we can go in-" You tried to speak before some kid ran up to Mario and Luigi.

"OH MY GOSH IT'S THE MARIO BROTHERS! MAMA! MAMA COME LOOK!" The kid practically screeched as he turned back to see a woman and man hurriedly running after the kid.

"Dante you can't go running off like that!" The mother scolded as the father caught his breath. Turning to your brothers.

"I'm so sorry for that. He was just really impressed by what you did to that turtle." This was just one of the many moments that came that day. Different people would come up and say hello. Asking for photos, signatures, or just handshakes. It went on and on as the day slowly got more busy. People waking up and getting out of your house. It wasn't long before a small crowd had gathered around the two. People shoving and pushing you to the side as you tried to get back to your brothers. Reaching a hand out desperately only for your hand to grab nothing but air.

The crowd began to move and shuffle about as they moved away from you. Mario gripping your shoulder firmly as he pulled you close. Terror filled his eyes as he was glancing at the mass of the crowd. His other hand gripped Luigi's.

"Hey! Give us some room! We need to get somewhere!" Mario shouted as he began to pull Luigi and you away. Luigi was stumbling as he hurried away. Yet all you could hear was the praise for your brothers.

It only got worse. You didn't even get to see the street Punch Out Pizzeria was on as Mario had dragged you and Luigi back to the apartment, avoiding the crowds of fans that seemed to lurk everywhere. At that point they stayed home, refusing to leave the house for one reason or another.

For the first few days you stayed home with them. Mario and Luigi were close to you every step of the way. Waking up when you did, following you to the table. Even when you headed to bed they would go as well. Mario had even got you a mattress to sleep on so you all could sleep in the same room. Saying he just wanted it to be like how it was when you were kids. At this point you couldn't take it. You grabbed your phone and quietly snuck out of the room. Grabbing your things as you left the house. Sending one quick text to your brothers as you left.

Finally, a breath of fresh air. You thought as you took a deep breath of that Brooklyn air. All be it didn't smell the greatest but it was home. Plus it looked so much better than it did after the attack. Most of the pot holes had been fixed for as much as you can in New York. There were no mushrooms and the major damages have been properly marked off. You walked around for a while. Most places wouldn't be open for a bit so you took your time.

It was nice to be able to relax like this. The sun rising in the distance, the cars driving past, the people slowly starting to head to their homes after nights of partying. It was nice to be back. Even this peace didn't last long as a group of drunkards came up to you, getting close and almost in your face.

"Heyy, you're the." The first person slurred, going quiet before another picked up where they left off.

"You're the one who was with the Mario brothers!"

"Yeah yeah you're their little friend!"

"Mario was so cool. Can I get his number?"

"Hey no, I want his number."

"You can have him, I want the green one." The group mumbled amongst themselves. It felt awkward as they fought over your brothers. So you tried to take a step back and get away. Only for a hand to yank you backwards as you're pulled into the middle of the group. An arm wrapping around your shoulder.

"Hey... where are you going?" Their breath reeked of alcohol as they spoke to you.

"Yeah cmon. Don't leave, you need to tell us about them." Another chimed in.

"Listen, I really should get going before they begin to worry about me. I'm just trying to get food for-" You tried to pull away yet their nails dug into your arm as they got closer.

"Cmon, just tell us where they live and we'll leave you alone." The person with their arm wrapped around you pleaded.

"No, now leave me and my brothers alone!" You struggled and yanked yourself forward out of their grasp.

"Brothers? They're your brothers?" One of the people began to laugh as another stepped forward.

"C'mon there's no need to lie." You ran off before they could continue. One of them began to chase you before being pulled backwards by the others.

You didn't dare risk going home yet. If they were following you would have just put your whole family in danger. Wandering down the street you tried to stall for time. You shoved your hand into your pocket, eyes widening as you pat yourself down. Your phone was missing. Those fucking-

You grabbed your head and began to walk down an alleyway. Tears were already flooding down your face as you began to break down. The built up stress of coming back home, losing your brothers, the way people hounded you. Everything was wrong. Everything was going to shit. They were so far ahead of you.

Stupid stupid stupid! If I could have been just a bit stronger none of this would have happened! If I could have just gotten away from those people! If I could have just not gotten hurt by that dog! If I didn't even run away then maybe I'd have been!

"Urgh so fucking stupid!" You cried out, pulling at your hair as you balled up into yourself.

Luigi was the first to wake up. Sitting up and rubbing his eyes before noticing your empty mattress. He didn't say anything and slowly shuffled towards the door.

"Lu?" Mario sat up rubbing his eyes for a brief moment and then looking at Luigi.

"Yeah Mario?" Luigi walked back towards Mario only to be pulled into a hug.

"It's going to be okay." Mario tried to soothe his brother. Only for Luigi to pull back confused.

"I thought you were feeling upset." Luigi's voice was soft as Mario stared up at him. The silence lasted for a few seconds before the brothers turned to where you slept. Your twin telepathy never failed to work as far you three knew. Mario shot up and began to haphazardly throw on his clothes. Luigi left the room and began to search the apartment.

"Y/N? Y/N!" Luigi called out, beginning to wake the others in the house. Mario was close behind as he helped Luigi search. Your dad was the first one to get up from the noise.

"Hey what's with all the noise?" He asked more annoyed as he squinted. The light blinded him for a moment.

"Where's Y/N? There's something wrong. They were not in their bed and that's not normal their stuff is gone-" Luigi began to ramble on and on. Your dad walked over to him and took a hold of his hands.

"Luigi breathes. They're probably fine. Maybe Y/N went out to go get some food." Luigi took a deep breath before calming down partially. The calm didn't last long as suddenly Mario ran to the door. Throwing on his shoes as Luigi looked over. Mario didn't even have to look up to get Luigi to start getting his stuff on. Your dad looked confused as he walked over to Mario.

"What's going on? Why are you in a rush?" Mario was starting to grab Luigi's stuff to make it easier for him to get ready.

"Y/N's phone was stolen." It was short and simple. His mind was flooded with fear for his sibling. Your dad took a moment before trying to sooth your brother.

"Mario you need to calm down-"

"NO! They're out there somewhere! Luigi, come on!" Mario called out. Luigi was already on his way out and ran over. Slipping his shoes on as Luigi grabbed his hat and gloves. Before another word could be said Mario and Luigi booked it out the door!

The brothers jumped and raced down the streets. They peered down alley ways as they ran past. Never getting a good feeling for where you were.

Their search didn't go easy as there were several groups of people that seemed to beg for their attention. The more noise these people made the more people noticed the two brothers. They ran out into the street, climbed fire escape ladders, jumped fences, and even rolled over a few cars just to get away from the people. In the end it was all worth it. Luigi was running alongside Mario but came to a halt around Chasse au Canard. Mario turned to face Luigi.

"Luigi come on!" Mario went to grab his hand before realizing what Luigi was feeling. The two looked down the small alleyway before seeing that matching blue denim you wore alongside your brothers.

Your brothers dashed towards you. Mario slid to the side as Luigi was able to stop right before hitting Mario. You looked up with tears staining your face, your eyes widening as you pushed yourself back against the wall. Your arms coming up to cover your head.

"PLEASE DON'T HURT ME!" You cried out only to be met with arms pulling you into a tight hug. It took you a moment before realizing who it was. A small fearful laugh escaped your lips as you slowly let yourself unfurl. Carefully you hugged them back before your laughter turned into full on sobs. Muttering apologies over and over as your brothers held you tightly.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry I wasn't strong enough." You bawled. Mario and Luigi were taken back by this. Pulling back and looking at you.

"No no. Y/N. You're plenty strong." Mario began.

"Yeah you're really tough." Luigi added.

"No I'm not! I'm not like you guys!" You weeped. "I'm not special, I didn't beat up a giant dragon turtle thing! I sprained my ankle from a dog and let you both get lost in some weird world! I came back and immediately failed you both! I look up to both of you so much but I'm nothing but just a zero! A zero to the left! You both are so much cooler than me. You at least give mom and dad something to be proud of..."

Mario and Luigi sat there in stunned silence. Luigi looked at Mario and Mario looked down at his own lap. Then Luigi turned back to you before grabbing one of your hands.

"Y/N please. Please just take a breath. Okay? First breathe in. Just follow what I do." Luigi took a deep breath. You followed shortly after. Slowly he began to exhale and you did the same. Repeating this process you are able to notice Mario was quietly following what you both were doing. After a bit you had stopped shaking and Luigi smiled.

"Better?" Luigi asked, watching you nod and wipe at your tears as a response. Mario looked up at you with tears still falling down his cheeks.

"Y/N. You mean so much to us. When you left it felt empty. Like a part was missing from the house. While we did text and call it just didn't feel the same. I missed your cooking... your jokes. I missed my sibling. You and Luigi were the reason I fought so hard to get back. I..." Mario's voice cracked as he failed to speak. He kept trying to speak yet no words came out. So Luigi took over.

"You didn't fail us. We were the ones who got lost. If you were there it probably would have been easier. You're so brave you would have been able to fight right alongside us." Luigi's hand squeezed yours.

"You were able to leave the Wrecking Crew. You did what you thought was best and took that risk. You did it for yourself and that's the bravest thing you could have ever done. It's what made me want to start the plumbing business with Luigi. All so we didn't have to deal with him anymore and we could follow our dream. When you came back and came to work with us we were so excited. Then when you got here it." He grew quiet once again. Struggling to keep himself from sobbing as he grabbed your other hand.

"We need you here Y/N. We miss you. You're special to me, to us. Ever since we got back it's been so nice to have you here with us again. I'm scared you're going to leave again. So please stay, please. We need you. You're so important to us. We wouldn't be the Mario siblings without you!" Luigi threw himself onto you in a hug. Sobbing into your shoulder as he broke down.

"Lu..." You were going to respond yet Mario pulled you and Luigi close to him. Letting out his sobs as he also cried.

"Y/N please. We need you. Brooklyn is blind to not see how amazing you are. You're amazing to us. You're our hero." Mario weeped. Your brothers clung onto you as they pleaded for you to stay. You hugged back tightly, tears flooding from your eyes.

"I'll stay. I'll stay with you both." All three sat there in the alley way for a while. Taking time to decompress the best you could. Things still hurt but it definitely felt a lot better. Yet one question plagued your mind.

"How did you know something was wrong?" You looked at your brothers and Luigi looked to Mario for the answer.

"Oh. The people who took your phone started texting me. One of their friends has your phone and said he can get it back and apologized for his friend's behavior. So we can go and get it whenever." Mario smiled as he saw you calm down further.

"For now I just want to go home." You yawned, tired from the emotional breakdown.

"C'mon. Let's a go." Luigi said. The three of you standing up. Luigi on your left and Mario on your right as they helped you walk back to your parents apartment.
