Test Tube Babies, Spleens, and Fruitloop Father?! NOPE. No thanks.

Danny and Ellie take a small, reincarnation, vacation from their duties in the Infinite Realms (King Danny and his most trusted Knight/Princess Ellie). Don't worry, they leave the Realms in good hands (Jazz, Pandora, Frostbite, CW, etc, basically Danny's main council takes over for a few years)

They both weren't expecting to wake up in an assassin cult though.... Nor to find out they're five year old twins now... Twin, somewhat clones of the leader and this guy Red Robin their 'father' is kinda obsessed with....

Great their 'father' is an insane assassin leader fruitloop and their 'dad' is named after a fast food joint... whose barely out of his teens btw.

Danny al Ghul Danyal, cast a glance as his full blooded and twin sister this time around Helen Ellie al Ghul who rolled her eyes as they listened to their 'father' ramble on and on about their 'dad' and how they were created to be his heir (Danny mostly, though he had plans on Ellie going to be trained to be his body guard by someone named Lady Shiva soon)

Yeah, no. Ellie dealt with one evil fruitloop father who cloned her once before, she's not dealing that again or falling for the 'I created thus I love you but not really' bs. They need to leave, like yesterday.

Hopefully their 'dad' is... okay he doesn't need to be okay with it at first but hopefully comes around to it, okay with the two of them showing up on his doorstep soon.

And you know what, they're gonna bring him a gift.

His spleen. Yeah it'll be good to give that back to him.

Since you know that was how they got clones to begin with... Maybe don't leave your DNA with people that can make clones next time.

holy. fuckin'. DAMN. I was pretty good at predicting the plot so far, but this episode proved that stampede is going in a whole new direction for real. spoilers for ep 9!!! (and manga a bit)

first of all, we still haven't got a full story of the great fall, but I think it's something they'll reveal in this season, probably during confrontation with knives. and still no scar reveal!! I'm angy but it's something that could be relevant to the standoff with knives, hope we'll get it

the piano scene... oh we're eating GOOD, it's just so wholesome but goes to confirm my theory that twins weren't completely fine on the ship. vash feeling useless because he can't do cool plant shit, knives envying vash for being good at human shit.... oh it's great

so glad knives is getting proper characterization and not just "he evil because he evil"! the fear, the hurt, the genuine care for vash, but then frustration with him – it's right there and I'm eating it up so yummy

the way they recontextualized vash's arm loss is GORGEOUS! I've seen ppl reading this scene differently, but to me it was an act of care from naï. he looks really scared for a reason: we see that the gate consumed all matter, including the hand. vash couldn't control it, so it would only grow bigger and destroy him. NAÏ REALIZED THIS AND SAVED VASH THE ONLY WAY HE COULD

he didn't want to fight him, this was not an act of anger, like in previous versions. all he cared about in that moment was saving his twin..... and what did he get in return? a gun pointed to his face. a gun he gave vash to kill human scum. oh, the DRAMA

ahem, now to the less intense stuff

homeboy has so much trauma, like, damn... how is he gonna fit any more from his impending epic brother fight...... I'm quite curious on how they're gonna characterize him in the next season. concidering that we're taking off earlier than previous versions, he might end up with the same unhinged vibe 98' vash had, as a coping mechanism (if depression didn't work, try dissociation and silliness). but then it would be even more interesting to see meryl's and wolfwood's reactions: they knew him before the accident and saw the big sad

vash has sense in the prosthetic arm, so it must've hurt when he damaged it... probably it hurts less than the real one, and it's clearly painless to take off. but the hand seems to be rather sensitive and fic writers are gonna go crazy for this

age reveal! also brad and luida being in cryosleep makes sense, I was racking my brain on how they're still alive. seems like they're using much more plant power tho... both for cryo and the vegetation, while in manga they tried to keep it as low as possible and send signals to earth

saw someone say that they're probably not doing that here because the earth is destroyed... could be that they decided to go the hard way. but in the manga the earth was still fucked, and it wasn't clear if they communicated with the ppl left on the planet or the fleet that was in some new place. what I'm saying is, there is a possibility that they are looking for help in stampede, we just don't know it yet

meryl was so cute! go off, comedy relief goofy girl, while you can, there is more trauma coming your way :3 yeah, enjoy roberto calling you by your first name... oh it would be such a shame if he gave you his derringer before his untimely death..........

pretty weird that nobody knows why they fell on no man's land, but ppl probably were too ashamed of their past and 150 years later the new generation is oblivious. also so funny that luida has to explain what vegies are..... they have so many plants but haven't see any plants

tbh I wasn't expecting the zazie twist at all, but I'm excited! they are SO gender in stampede, might be the best redesign in the series, love me a genderless bug creature with bold fashion choices. really cool to see that storyline adapted, it was barely touched upon in the last volumes of trimax

btw the multiple bullets story about a plant, worm and human who went around figuring out if their species could coexist and just.... creating this foud family and then building a town there all were equal...... that's my favorite mb story for sure

wolfwood saying "I'm not your friend"... I know what you are. and we got a "you'll have to decide one day"... oh oh the misery, but the context was lacking. it just doesn't hit the same when he isn't daring vash to shoot him in the most homoerotic way possible. on and he looks so goofy trying to ride with his cross

in the last ep's rant I assumed that luida lied about rem saving everybody for some reason?? but no, she actually saved them, I just got a bit confused

so, as I predicted, the gang separated (tho not because of vash) and by the end of the next episode vash'll be in july and meet naï. the poster, man.... that gorgeous futuristic city is getting obliterated for sure

btw vash's gate being opposite to knives and sort of a black hole is nothing new. but there are new layers to this, like vash willingly giving away energy, but destroying things against his will, and knives with the opposite of this. ying yan twins go brrrr

HEY WHAT HEADCANONS, SHIPS, OR WHATEVER HAVE BEEN ON YOUR MIND RECENTLY? 🩷🎤

Ahhhh! Thank you so much for sending this in, Pink! I have so many Swiss thoughts and kit thoughts at the moment while I'm writing the latest chapter of Blood Moon so these headcannons/thoughts/ideas are gonna be a hot mess.

So ships, I love me some polyghouls, but at the moment, I'm loving Mountain x Aurora and Swiss x Delia.

Mountain is so big and Aurora is so tiny. I love me some height differences XD Aurora will get lost in Mountain's bed when spending nights with him and she's like a demonic little gopher poking her head out from his blankets.

I love writing about Swiss and Delia! It's just so good and brings so much joy making them happy together. Swiss loves his pack, but he adores Delia. She's his favorite human (which makes other siblings of sin a bit jealous, but if they so much as talk shit about Delia, they're gonna get ate)

Swiss currently has 6 kits and he adores and cherishes them all. Three of them are from Delia and their names are Onyx, Shade, and Cheese. One is from Dewdrop and her name is Cinder. The other two are from Cumulus and their names are Nova and Vortex (Vortex is Swiss's only son btw, so 5 daughters and 1 son). Swiss is a girl dad even though he loves his son just as much as the others. The ghouls are super affectionate with their kits, but Swiss in on another level. Mans can fall asleep holding them and he'll be content even if it hurts his neck. Kits grow fast so he wants to be able to hold them when they're teeny tiny. Even when they get bigger, that's not gonna stop daddy Swiss from holding them :')

Kits are born blind and unable to open their eyes, but after a few weeks, they're able to open them. In the meantime, they rely on smell and taste so they lick almost anything that comes into contact with them. Most of the time, they're swaddled up like baby bats, but when they're not and they learn how to crawl, then they are unstoppable!

Ghoul magic! All of the ghouls can breathe different magical powders that affect humans in different ways. One can paralyze a human and numb their senses (perfect for hunting or spicy time), another gives humans a high that's similar to weed and it makes them more relaxed and easier to influence (too much can put a human to sleep lol) , and another is an aphrodisiac that makes humans and ghouls super horny X3 Swiss is a master of all these different magics

Another ghoul ability that both multi ghouls and quintessence ghouls are capable of is shadow manipulation. They can melt into the shadows which can help with hunting and sneaking around the church. Swiss of course uses this for evil and will scare the shit out of an unsuspecting sibling or he'll sneak into some dorms and spy on whoever it is that he chose to torment

Oh yeah, the Emeritus bloodline is full of vampires and the current Papas activate their vampiric power when they rise to papacy. They used to just seduce and drain unwilling siblings, but after some time, it was agreed that willing siblings could just donate their blood. If they want to do it the old-fashioned way, then they can just ask ^-^

Those creepy twins are also vampires, but no one knows where they came from. The Papas have to share their blood supply with them or else they will run wild and attack anyone.

Ghouls can reproduce both via eggs and through pregnancy. It all depends on the situation. Ghouls can lay eggs in humans, but they are unable to become fertile unless under special circumstances (such as a ghoul's heat occurring during a blood moon and the eggs are laid within a human). If a ghoul simply lays eggs in a human during any regular heat period, then the eggs won't be fertile. Ghoul magic is weird lol

Ghouls and humans can reproduce without the blood moon, but they first need to conduct a reproduction ritual with the help of a Papa.

I think that's about it with my current thoughts, but if you wanna ask me more about headcannons and thoughts in the future, then I'll gladly talk more :D

You seem to be a german speaker and i'm trying to practice my german. would you have any good german language tv show reccs that i could watch (with subtitles)? Also not to sound needy cause beggars can't be choosers or whatever but i tend to watch more lighthearted/teen drama type stuff than really heavy serious adult dramas but this is not a hard rule!! please ignore this if it's annoying! have a super nice day!!

If you like lighthearted German (teen) dramas, then, oh boy!, I have just the thing for you:

"Türkisch für Anfänger" (teen soap about a German-Turkish patchwork family, it's silly and hilarious and soooo dramatic)

"Schloss Einstein" (still running today show about kids at a German boarding school, literally has the best intro in the world)

"Die Pfefferkörner" (has also been running for generations, it's about a gang of children detectives investigating im Hamburg, also has the best intro in the whole world)

"Doctor's Diary" (Grey's Anatomy but far worse. It's a trainwreck, if you liked desperate housewives you’re gonna love this one)

"Berlin Berlin" (never watched that one personally, but it's about a young woman living in Berlin in her 20s trying to figure out her life)

"Die Wilden Hühner" movies (my personal faves growing up though i prefrr the books; about a group of teen girls who have an old trailer as a group headquarter and chicken in the garden, literally what more do you want 😌)

"Französisch für Anfänger" (i remember so little from this movie but that it's about a boy who cant speak a whim French going on a France exchange to get with a girl. very stupid, very funny, hell of a music track)

"Die Vampirschwestern" movies (literally what it says on the tin, half-vampire sisters trying to figure out teen life, find friends and occasionally fight evil forces. normal stuff, you know)

"Hanni & Nanni" movies (a set of twin girls who get send to boarding school and being very pissed about it until... well, they're not anymore :) there is also an anime, as far as I know it's on youtube, it's so sweet!)

"Heidi" (show out of all shows, isao takahata and hayao miyasaki we're both part in creating it, fuck yeah. story about an orphaned girl who is brought to the alps to live with her grandfather and i dont know how to describe it any further? it's a beautiful heartwearming story with gorgeously animated landscapes. also baby goats.)

I hope some of these work for you and feel free to ask for other shows. I actually don't know if all of them are accessible outside of Germany, but I'm just hoping for the best 🥲

he is stupidly ticklish actually like save him

he's ticklish pretty much everywhere but under his arms and his tummy are probably his best spots they have him absolutely REELING

he has a normal like. "princely" laugh whenever he's hosting or trying to be his typical Tamaki self but he is such a frantic giggler when he's tickled its so funny

also totally stealing from one of my favorite artists on tumblr dot com but RIGHT HERE is evidence that Tamaki snorts. he is so silly i hope he gets obliterated

also relating to that art he is constantly tickled by the twins in inconvenient situations lol

Haruhi will tickle him sometimes to try and make him stop doing something and most of the time it works lol

he also sometimes gets tickled by Kyoya or Honey but it's moooostly the twins bc those guys are absolute tickle monsters

he's got like. no ler bones in his body but only because he's so scared of getting tickled back that he just avoids it LOL

hes kind of funny because when he does tickle someone else like Kyoya he runs away almost immediately afterward

Kyoya -

URGH Kyoya is so hard for me to make headcanons for HELP HES SO GOOFY

okay he's definitely tickly. probably on his ribs, hips, and his back

HIS BACK IS A FUNNY SPOT bc people can just swipe one finger down his back and he'll do like a full body shudder and then give them an evil glare

he's probably tickled the least out of everyone in the host club and he is NOT USED TO IT whenever he is tickled because he's so out of practice being tickled lol

he's not super ticklish either but when you catch him by surprise he's more reactive to tickling

he doesn't normally engage in tickling because he's just sooooo serious LOL but when there's a good moment he'll definitely poke people or give them a small tickle

i feel like hes more of a ler but in general he just ignores whatevers going on unless he has to step in and break people up because the tickling is getting too intense

he has gotten tickled during one of those break ups before (it was Tamaki and the twins OF COURSE) and then both the twins tried to gang up on him. lol

they regretted it later! Kyoya may not tickle people often but when he does he should be feared

Hikaru -

okay i think it's so funny bc you'd think Kaoru is the more ticklish twin but UR WRONG it's Hikaru

he's like. stupid ticklish. ALMOST AS MUCH AS TAMAKI but he's better at hiding it because he's not as dramatic when he gets tickled

like he'll jump but he tries to hide his reactions so sometimes it takes a bit to make him even giggle

he's really ticklish on his hips and sides which are super easy to get too hehe just grab him by the hips and SQUEEZE

he's much more of a ler especially when he's tickling someone with his brother but if anyone was able to get him bad he would never get to live it down

the only person who's come close to tickling him really good aside from his brother is Haruhi and that's just because she's sick of their nonsense LOL

she also makes a point to tell the twins apart by where they're ticklish so she uses tickling to her advantage all the time

like she can easily tell them apart without tickling them but she thinks its funny because they are both so tickly

Kaoru -

he's such a goofball sorry i actually really loved Kaoru so much when i watched this show LOL

he's not as ticklish as Hikaru and he's tickly in other spots but he doesn't try to hide his reactions as much as Hikaru so people often assume that Kaoru is the more ticklish twin

He's very giggly and tickling him under his arms or his ribs especially get him really good

he's actually kind of silly because he will almost always be the one to initiate tickle fights with the other hosts or his brother, and then Hikaru normally joins in

I think Kaoru doesn't mind tickling others or being tickled, he's like... very in the middle on his preference LOL it just depends on his mood at the time

he and Hikaru will normally switch off on like. who's holding and who's tickling when they're ganging up on someone but Kaoru actually prefers to do the tickling most of the time

his argument is that Hikaru is too ticklish to be good at tickling but he never tells anyone else that because he knows Hikaru is a lil embarrassed about how ticklish he is lol

1. What made you ship it?

They're literally husbands, what more do I have to say /j. No but fr tho, I think it was just... their potential dynamic??? The fact that they're both over-the-top villains and I thought they'd be really good together right from the start. Also fan content, there's so much amazing dukeceit content in this fandom XD

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

So many things... they just have an unparalleled aesthetic, I kinda see them as having a Gomez and Morticia vibe.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Speaking of the Gomez and Morticia vibe, I like to think they give compliments in the same kinda weird way. In the kind of "you look like death" "aw thanks babe" kinda way (this goes for anxceitmus too btw).

The unpopular opinion part of this has to do with the evil twin comment. I think Janus and Remus call themselves evil and such things as a joke, so I don't think he'd be too bothered about it really.

Prinxiety - Ship it

1. What made you ship it?

Prinxiety was the first Sanders Sides ship that I actually shipped, and I was really into it for all of one week lol (I do still like them now, there r just other ships I prefer). I think it's because Roman and Virgil had the most fun dynamic right from the start. Roman was the first character Virgil interacted with (unless you count C!Thomas) and I do love enemies to lovers!

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

I think mostly how far they've come from where the used to be. They used to despise each other, but now they're besties and they helped set Thomas up with Nico together.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Idk if this counts as unpopular, but I kinda prefer their platonic dynamic to actually shipping them?? If I think of them being in a relationship, it's more like best friends who make out sometimes

season 7: the thoughts continue

i feel like the quantity and quality of brief stupid & irrelevant team exchanges went up and i am SO here for it. jay has redeemed his poor choices from last season purely by virtue of being part of 50 to 75% of these, for the record. this has been so extremely enjoyable i dont even know where to begin.

the concept of the "hands of time" being twins with symmetrical time powers is honestly. so cool and even if the execution was mid i am still so Extremely glad this exists. because its very cool. i do wish they had better designs though usually the ninjago designs are. well most of the time theyre not spectacular but they're generally fine. these guys are ugly tho.

the snake dudes / one dudette whose names escape me at the moment annoyed me. i dont like them. also why is it that 1) they gave the snake girl titties. real question. i dont think she needs tits made of snakes. stop it and 2) there was only 1 (one) girl. where are my useless female grunts !!!!!

so many time puns. too many time puns. infinite time puns. you can watch my sanity wear away in real time. NO WAIT I SAID TIME DAMMI

honestly. okay im gonna be blunt i am very disappointed in this season mainly because i was hoping to get like. sibling foils and stuff COME ON WE'VE GOT THREE DIFFERENT SIBLING PAIRS HERE . WE'VE GOT TIME BROTHERS WHOSE NAMES ALSO ESCAPE ME. WE'VE GOT KAI AND NAYA. WE'VE GOT WU AND GARMADON. AND THESE TERRIBLE WRITERS COULDNT EVEN GIVE ME ONE PAIR OF FOILS. anyways yeah no i am very very disappointed. three pairs. Three of them. and not a single foil in sight. like man why'd you even bother. its like they wanted to do something with them all being siblings but couldnt think of anything past them all being siblings. yknow. its like "ohh wow kai and naya are fighting those time guys !! oh huh what? you mean we should have some thematic or narrative reason for this? ah screw that they're both sibling pairs thats good enough" NO ITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. ITS NOT

regarding kai and naya it also annoys me because we didnt really get much of them bonding as siblings because 80% of it was about their parents, who i am ALSO supremely disappointed in, even if im not particularly surprised. like . ok . ok ok. head in hands. they just Left kai and naya because time brother #1 (whose name again escapes me), who, notably does not have any more elemental powers, said "haha im gonna kill them" despite the fact that BOTH of them were there and definitely could've taken him out, and instead decided to go help him build weapons for him to take over ninjago with. for real. really. Really . like MAN at least if they were evil that woudlve been INTERESTING. come ONNNNNNNN. come on. come onnnnnn screw that. and then all kai and naya got this season was "oh wow epic our parents are still here. ok well since the writers arent going to do anything interesting with that we're all gonna be buddy buddy now. tee hee"

really annoyed with wu this season btw. take this discord screenshot that encapsulates my thoughts pretty well

like okay i dont hold him not telling anybody anything at the beginning of the season against him too much because like thats the beginning of the next tacked on season that the authors had not originally had plans for and whats a ninjago season if it doesnt start with wu saying "there's something i havent told you yet" + usually they're stories that he could've reasonably thought wouldn't have become relevant again, but this is just unacceptable. bro get a grip if their master dies out of nowhere when they weren't expecting it then methinks it will distract them. just a little bit.

also this

the ninjago timeline is honestly a joke. its like . MAN it doesnt even begin to make sense its like wu and garmadon's dad is a sort of demigod who created the whole world but also they're only 80 years old and apparently ancient ninjago was 40 years ago and lloyd fits into this picture. somehow. (????????????????????????????) because to say it is terribly unclear when garmadon went full deranged is. well. an understatement of the century. and . yknow what why am i even bothering, honestly. whatever. who cares (me i do)

i didnt like. dislike the season but this one really suffered from a lack of a coherent vision. most of the season kind of felt like they did nothing and WAIT I JUST REALIZED I FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT THE DAY OF THE DEAD SPECIAL. IM SO MAD I THOUGHT THEY WERE GONNA DO SOMETHING ABOUT COLE BEING A GHOST NOW. AND THEN THEY DIDNT. NOT AT ALL. NOT EVEN LIKE A PROPER IDENTITY CRISIS OR ANYTHIGN. THEY FIXED IT IN A SPECIAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A SPECIAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE HECK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay that aside. im glad pixal has something to do now instead of just being inside zane's brain. good for her good for her.

im also SO glad they didnt just undo the whole arc with the reversing time blade. thank the lord above i was half expecting them to despite the fact that they literally just did that Last Season. also also i LOVE jay's mom she showed up for .4 minutes, was terribly annoying, and i love it. i love her. i want more annoying women in media please and thank you you can really tell she's jay's mom. i want them to meet so bad.

btw lloyd deserves such a break. he needs it. he should go on vacation or something let everybody else figure it out. they'll probably die without him but idk he needs it. actually speaking of, this was my takeaway from this season

also question about the reversing time blade. theoretically if you punch a recently deceased corpse with it could you bring them back to life?

the goofiness the ninja deserve. if the show isn't at least 45% silly character interactions by runtime it isn't even ninjago anymore.

they are!!! they are such a great concept. execution mixed and yeah the designs are. lacking. but once again they knock it out of the park with the show's concepts. notwithstanding the snitties.

mhm. mhhhm. what i wouldn't give for this show to figure out what they're doing with the character foiling bc half the time its got a good start but fumbles bc time/medium constraints but 99% of the show's good potential foiling?? is completely squandered??? their reliance on the secret parent reveals over time only gets more frustrating as it continues but for a show that's so oriented on familial bonds BOY do they constantly ignore any and all actual meaning they could explore about them. comparing nya and kai w/ everyone else could be fascinating but that means confronting character traits and we've been. heh. watering down kai ever since he stopped being the main character so that's not allowed.

there is sooooo much to be said about their parents and while there is solace in it does get addressed a little. it is very much in ninjago's special way where they pretend nothing happened for multiple seasons. so that's fun. also now i want kai and nya to have to bond with lloyd over evil parents that'd be funny as hell.

glad you got your cardboard cutout parental figures guys. go ignore your potentially complex emotions about this experience over with jay in the lobby. it'll be your turn to be important again in 2-5 seasons and by then half the world will be retconned again <3

the friends to lovers, man,,, Like no one does it like her. Decade long friends to lovers my man. It's crazy. The fucking HISTORY! The way they're both ride or die for each other. The way Dandelion becomes so courageous when Geralt's safety is at stake. The situation Dandelion is in at the end of the books,,, makes me rotate them in my mindcrowave (i'm copyrighting that term btw)

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Uhhhhhhhhhhh idk? I am not invested enough to have that many opinions tbh. Turns out I DO have a lot of opinions, who's fucking surprised?

Maybe that Geralt shouldn't let Dandelion get away with his sometimes rampant misogyny? Or the sexual harassment of random women? Like I'm all for polyamory but i think Geralt should invoke monogamy for the good of all women on the continent. And for the bit. Yeah.

Also I, again, am not fond of most top/bottom headcanons in this fandom that don't just default to switch. I don't like exclusive bottom Dandelion (big guy = top, small guy = bottom trope. Boring and borderline heteronormative and fetishistic), but i also don't like exclusive bottom Geralt, simply because it's the same trope except in reverse, but it's not any more woke or interesting because of that. Gets boring after the second fic you read. No wondering about who's gonna top or bottom this time, it's set in stone from the beginning. Boring. Outdated. Bland. Everyone's a switch because that's more interesting and also more realistic. Get with the program.

Another thing that bugs me but isn't about the ship specifically, is when people tag Gerlion content as G*ras*ier and vice versa. Like???? I have the TV ship blacklisted for a reason, y'all Gerlion artists are just shooting yourselves in the foot because no I won't click on it! And N*tfl*x stans don't appreciate Gerlion right anyway. They don't even know who Dandelion really is! Stay true to your roots. Don't stoop to cater to them.

I say it's better in fics just because we don't get to see Gwaine a whole lot with Merlin on the show, so it's fun to see the Situations they go through in fic. I love these two so much!! ❤️ I've never considered them as a ship, but I can def see them being platonic! They both have Gone Through It ™ but Finny has kept his childish whimsy and zest for life that Ciel desperately needs, so this is a case of where they can fix each other!! Rn I think the dynamic is a bit weird since Finny is Ciel's servant, but with current events (spoilers to all not caught up) revealing Ciel is actually fake Ciel and stole his twins identity, and everyone therefore being on the run, traditional barriers can break down and they can become besties. On God Ciel needs more friends 😭

Rohan is MY personal bestie and fav character so unfortunately for Koichi this means Rohan is aroace and therefore not dating anyone <3 But they can def be besties and I love that for them! I do like their friendship that we've gotten to see so far; shoutout to Koichi for being willing to move past Rohan attacking and nearly killing him when they first met all so he could sell more books lmaoo. I do think Rohan can make Koichi more unhinged and make him worse which I think is good for him, king deserves to go apeshit on someone he's too nice

The Mirror of Don't Let The Horny Teens Look In It

Christmas happens (also btw the Weasley twins are assaulting teachers but they're the evil ones so it's fine). We're told it's vacation time, which sounds REALLY exciting because now Harry and friend can roam around and uncover more magical secrets. Ron tries to assault Draco after he insults him, and we can see that the Weasley's are just a bunch of hot tempered red heads because Ron has basically no other function in the story except to act as Harry's proxy.

"I hate them both," says Harry about Snape and Draco, really delving deep into his character motivations and complexities.

Harry tries to get Hagrid to lose his job again, which is just great, and we learn the crew is spending a lot of time in the library looking for this Flamel fellow. Wizards haven't invented google yet and they can't ask a teacher for help (for some reason), so our little gremlins have to scour every single book in the library. Harry gets the idea to look in the forbidden RESTRICTED SECTION, which is presumably where Hogwarts sticks only it's most racy spellbooks. I'd really like to write more here but this whole mystery about the RESTRICTED SECTION doesn't pan out to be anything (spoilers!). This is terrible. Like, shame on you if you're an author, and you introduce this big secret forbidden knowledge plot point, and then do nothing with it. At every turn the author just seems to take what would be a cool idea or bit of Hogwarts lore and then just tosses it aside as if it was a novelty candy name. Terrible!

We learn Harry and Ron gossip a lot about Draco, like a whole lot, and that Ron is good at ONE thing and that's chess. Then Harry gets some presents, which he thanks nobody for, and then gets his INVISIBILITY CLOAK. Again, this is just a real slap in the face and I don't know why the author makes this choice. The obvious reason is so we can have some 'mysterious benefactor' that's rewarding Harry with things to ratchet up the mystery. But Harry never bothers trying to figure out who sent him the cloak, so the real reason he gets this is so the author can stop carrying about how he sneaks around at night. Wouldn't it have been cooler if Harry like, learned the invisibility spell himself? Or like, EARNED the cloak somehow, like he nicked it from Filch because he's a nasty child or something? The way this is handled is a literal gift to him. 'Here you go, the answer to all your problems!' Gee, thanks, what a great main character you have there.

We're treated to a load of christmas whimsy lists and some drunk teachers, then Harry tries to use his invisibility to look at some forbidden knowledge. The first book he pulls out screams at him (always ask your books for consent before opening them) and the whole plot disintegrates as we're back to running from Filch again. Filch, who has no magic, almost catches Harry despite Harry being invisible. Filch is an evil bastard and all that, but the man is undeniably good at his job, and so far every single time he's almost caught Harry, Harry has been unequivocally up to no good. I don't have a point to this except to say unlike some other hires Dumbledore makes, Filch is one of the better ones.

Anyway ALL this nonsense with the cloak and the library is pointless. It's just filler to get Harry to slip into a secret room with a magic mirror in it. He looks in the mirror and sees his dead parents, and instantly becomes obsessed with it. Trying to get Hagrid fired takes a backseat for a while as Harry becomes enthralled with the mirror, which is actually a cool bit of showing and not telling about Harry's motivations. Harry is still a little shit and this narrative structure is terrible, but this part at least is good. Also because Hermione isn't around to take their verbal abuse, Harry gets pissy at Ron instead, so that's fun.

Ron's ONE good idea the whole book is to tell Harry to forget about the mirror. This is really out of character for Ron, I'm not sure exactly where it comes from, but it's nice to see him not suggesting that Harry molest Draco with the cloak or to murder Filch's cat or something. One point for Ron here, even though he's only acting this way because Hermione isn't around to do it instead.

Harry meets Dumbledore in the mirror room, and Dumbledore mentions he can become invisible with magic, a skill that I don't believe will ever be mentioned again. Dumbledore tells Harry to forget about the mirror except to know what it does, which implies he knows Harry will...try to use it later? I get Dumbledore is supposed to be this omniscient Merlin type character, but this has enormous repercussions for later, and not in a good way. Anyway, Dumbledore totally doesn't see himself with his boyfriend in the mirror, and Harry tosses out his mirror obsession as quickly as he got it. Back to trying to uncover secrets!
