stuck on the fact that a small part of Dongsik hoped for 20 entire years that Yuyeon was still alive. he fantasized about coming across her in random places and was anxious about recognizing her as a 40 year old woman because he genuinely still held onto a glimmer of hope for two decades. ten years and another ten years after than. half his life picturing his sister dead and alive turn by turn. maybe even when he burst the wall open he still thought there was a chance it would be empty.

and isn't it supremely fucked up that for the enormous, cataclysmic impact that Yuyeon's disappearance had on Dongsik and the central place that his love for her occupies in his motivations as a character, the only time they interact on-screen is when he finally finds her body and tenderly cradles her long-dead hands in his.

So, I just realized that Criston was likely there when Jaehaerys and Jaehaera were born. Alicent would have been at Helaena's side, so naturally, Criston would have been outside with Helaena's own guard.

realistically i know rhaena was named after rhaenys the way baela was named after baelon but you can’t convince me that laena and rhaenyra didn’t just find an excuse to combine their names. “fond and more than fond” of each other and rhaena sounds like an alternate ship name for laenyra. Rhaenyra never beating the rhaena fatherhood allegations.

maintaining my position that osamu's the more violence-prone twin bc he holds himself back around others often; atsumu doesn't need to do much to provoke osamu into throwing hands with him

this is not to discount anybody's preferences for succession but i do think shiv being the youngest (as opposed to roman) is an important piece to her character and the misogyny she faces. (ignoring obvious ties like connor calling her baby or shiv giving "puppy eyes" to manipulate big brother ken.) being constantly infantilised throughout the show does tie into her gender but there is definitely a correlation with her actually being a step behind them in the race. she is a / young / woman --- (and because of these two things) --- with no experience /. all of these things stacking on top of her make it seem IMPOSSIBLE for her to reach the top. i think a lot of people stating that because she's more responsible and terse than her brothers, she has "eldest daughter syndrome" but i think seeing these traits in her actually reflects the way she, as the youngest, is overcompensating for how she's underestimated, having always felt a need to live up to her older brothers. she's overshadowed her whole life! which forces her to grow up quicker than her brothers, especially when being pit against them. shiv being a more masculine character, constantly vying to be the big brother, in turn, ALLOWS roman to play baby brother. and roman easily slides into this role because shiv is so beyond discounted from this race.

thinking about how "the hands of the king are the hands of a healer" implies that out of the two of them it was elros who was (possibly partly due to maia blood in his veins) the better healer and i'm thinking about how much elrond despite all the skills he definitely has acquired over the years must have wished for elros to be there with him after his sons rescued celebrian because he realised that his own skills weren't enough to help her

Gotta love Tommy Shepherd, he's got like four sets of parental figures that could care about him but he either feels awkward around them or they just apparently forgot he exists. Like the only semi ok adult in his life is Master Pandemonium, who he's taking care of but he at least interacts with him.
