As a Kpop fan now, if you've been here since at least 2021/2022ish~ you've outlived 2 apps. V Live and Universe, congrats, you don't get anything, but you can say you've outlived them.
#congrats on outliving two apps#rip universe app#rip vlive#the reason i say 2021 is because vlive has been dying since at least January 2021 - we no longer had vlive+ but i can't remember when#they deactivated that feature but wild#universe down#as a uni (ptg stan) this is the funniest tag i've gotten to say#i'd say dance on their graves but vlive was such a queen and we lost her- i loved her- she made my days easier... i would watch vlives in#class all the time- and now we can't- and we got so many good things from universe even if it didn't mean physical releases- it was still#nice- we had sth similar to bubble and we could talk to our idols ( i didn't do this but i loved seeing the translations on twt )#hybe is seeing each app as a cash grab and i cry sometimes- i can't forgive them- but anyways enough about that-#i feel like a fossil lowkey- it's not often i feel like a fossil in the kpop community but 8 yrs this year def takes a toll on your bones-#will i forever be keeping the uni app and vlive app? yes- they will forever live rent free- i will miss these eras as a kpop stan#achievement#outliving#congratulations#i've had this queued since feb. 17th when the messages from idols officially ended- it's so sad esp cause kyunbebes will have no access#to talking to him if starship finds a new way to make a new app because they won't include him 😭 i hope by the time this queues sony#comes up with a solution and treats our boy right- also ever think about all the idols that enlisted beforehand? like vlive died while they#were serving!? it's so sad- anyways i'm done rambling- pls enjoy this queued post#queued post#yes the app doesnt officially close til 5/31 @ 4 am et- but the messages being gone = huge loss#sorry besties- i seriously am gonna miss both apps i already grieved the former 😔

#ask#len 🐻#i tend to avoid characters/stories that deal heavily with weight gain/loss and eating problems regardless of what the message is bc of#my own mental health... regardless of whether the message reflects my own beliefs or not i just kinda. Cant deal with that stuff#which is why i tend to avoid knights stories... i think they have fun dynamics and i read fics (sometimes) but canon will just throw#out dieting culture/eating disorder stuff and i Physically can't deal with it lol...#i don't have an ED diagnosed but i recognize a lot of those purging/reward system behaviors in myself and i have found out the best way to#deal with them in my case is to jsut. ignore eating concepts as a whole#i work out i take care of myself i eat my veggies and that's about it and if i think too much the behavior comes back#so like. this is a long and personal tangent to say 'i haven't read any tsukasa stories because i'm afraid ED concepts will show up'#coughs. izumi#regardless i kinda watch her from a distance and go yeah.. that's the tsukasa#this is like how when tumblr had the like. Elemental Magus (a DND 5e Homebrewed Wizard subclass inspired by @comicaurora)
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: This is straight-up unbalanced. Balancing was always a secondary concern, because that's not what I like about making these, but this time, it's bad enough that even I can't see past it. However, I don't know exactly how to balance it properly while keeping the things I like about it, so I'm freeing this from my drafts and letting the ideas out so someone else (possibly future me) can retool it into something that won't make your GM rip out their hair in frustration. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the subclass all the same ! EDIT: Did my best to rebalance it. Let me know what you think !
2nd level: Such A Lofty Title
Starting at 2nd level, you are revealed as an Elemental Magus, an extremely rare kind of mage that can command all six Primordial elements: Fire, Life, Lightning, Stone, Water, and Wind.
You can now copy spells that deal fire, necrotic, lightning, bludgeoning, cold, or thunder damage as well as healing spells into your spellbook, even if they are outside of the wizard spell list. Your spellbook can only contain a number of these spells equal to your proficiency bonus. You cannot learn these spells as part of leveling up, and cannot choose them for your Spell Mastery and Signature Spells features.
2nd Level: Just Another Problem to Solve
At 2nd level, your intense study of the mechanics of elemental magic has allowed you to supplement your spells with the properties of the elements. Depending on the damage a spell deals, you can choose to add an additional effect to the targets of your wizard spell in function of the element used:
Fire: One target of your choice must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d6 fire damage at the start of their next turn. Anything that would douse a regular fire stops the condition.
Necrotic: One target of your choice must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or have their hit points maximum reduced by your proficiency bonus + the spell's level. This effect is not cumulable with other reduction of maximum hit points, including another use of this feature.
Lightning: One target of your choice must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw or be unable to take a reaction until the end of your next turn.
Bludgeoning: One target of your choice must succeed on a Strength saving throw or have their speed reduced by 15 until the end of your next turn.
Cold: One target of your choice must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or have disadvantage on their next attack roll.
Thunder: One target of your choice that is either concentrating on a spell or has activated a feature that ends on certain conditions or the target's will (such as a Barbarian's Rage or a Druid's Wild Shape), they must succeed on a Concentration saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, they drop concentration on their spell or their feature deactivates.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1).
6th level: Safety Is By Definition Not Overcomplicated
At 6th level, you’ve mastered the technique of rune casting, at the cost of the speed of intuition-based magical forms. When you cast a spell that deals fire, necrotic, lightning, bludgeoning, cold, or thunder damage, you can choose to use a runic circle for the spell. When you do so, your spell takes effect at your initiative minus 10, and any roll the spell asks for (damage rolls, saving throws, attack rolls, concentration checks …) can be granted advantage. Additionally, if the spell requires you to use your action to keep an effect of the spell going, you can instead use your bonus action.
If the spell affects an area of effect, you can move it a number of feet equal to five times your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 5) as it takes effect. If the spell affects a single target and said target moves away from your range of casting, the spell fails and you waste a spell slot.
If used outside of combat, the spell takes effect after 10 minutes instead.
10th level: Phenomenal Natural Talent
Starting at 10th level, you can use your command over the elements to shield you and your surroundings from their effects. On your turn, you can use an action to expend a spell slot and summon a 10 ft. sphere of protective elemental energy centered on yourself for a minute.
When you use this feature, you must choose one type of damage from the following list: bludgeoning, cold, fire, lightning, necrotic, or thunder. You can nullify the effect of one spell dealing that type of damage per round. The spell must be cast at no more than two levels above your expended slot.
While this feature is active, you are considered as concentrating on a spell for all intents and purposes. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
14th level: A Primordial True Name in Its Purest Form
At 14th level, you learn the true name of the Elemental Primordials. As a result, you can now invoke the higher property of one of the elements during combat in order to control the battlefield.
Fire/Transmutation: As an action, you can choose a creature within range, which must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, you can choose to transform one resistance, vulnerability, or immunity from one type of damage to another for the duration. The target can choose to fail the saving throw.
Life/Survivability: If a creature fails their last death saving throw or takes enough damage to die on hit within range, you can use your reaction to temporarily stop them from dying. If the creature is healed or stabilized while their death is being halted, their hitpoints remain at 0, but the creature will instead be unconscious and stable instead of dead or dying, and your Life effect ends.
Lightning/Connection: As an action, you can choose two willing creatures, including yourself, within range. of you in order to link them. When one of the linked creatures takes damage before the end of the effect, the other can choose to take half of the damage instead of their ally.
Stone/Loyalty: As an action, you can choose a spell caster within range to let them to temporarily use your spell slots for their own spellcasting. When your ally uses one of your spell slots, both of you take 1d10 necrotic damage. This damage cannot be reduced in any way.
Water/Flexibility: As an action, you can allow up to three willing creatures within range other than yourself to make an action become a bonus action instead for the duration.
Wind/Communication: As a bonus action, you can choose a creature within range and force them to make a Charisma saving throw. On a failure, their allies are now temporarily hostile towards them. The target can use their action in order to try and convince their allies that they aren’t an enemy, repeating this saving throw. Creatures immune to the charmed condition will not turn hostile.
Each of these effects lasts for a number of turns equal to your Wisdom modifier and you are considered as concentrating on a spell for all intents and purposes while they are active. Once you use one of these features, you can't use any of them again until you finish a long rest.

Warnings [18+]: fem!reader, mentions of smut, ‘off camera’ smut, allusion to threesome (mmf), host!Logan & real Logan, dirty talk, language
-
After a long day at work, you’re glad to finally arrive home at the apartment you share with Logan, a cosy space with big open windows that overlook the rolling plains of Westworld. You drop your keys into the bowl in the hallway, and slide off your shoes.
“Logan? You home, honey?” You can hear the smirk in his voice as he calls out,
“In the bedroom.”
Shaking your head with a soft smile, you head towards the bedroom. Logan’s sitting on the edge of the bed, waiting for you.
“What’s got you so excited?” You remark, eyeing the look on his eyes and immediately standing between his parted thighs.
He’s wearing a dark blue button up, and you slowly begin to loosen the buttons, revealing more of his chest as he shrugs lightly in response. He’s uncharacteristically quiet, but there’s a mischievous sparkle in his eyes.
Then someone familiar presses the front of their body against your back, large hands settling on your waist. Inhaling sharply, you turn your head rapidly, meeting another pair of identical brown eyes.
“I see you’ve found your new toy.” The Logan behind you teases with a smug smile. You’re not sure whether he’s talking about his sudden appearance or the Logan on the bed.
You come up with an explanation quick enough. He had told you some of the technicians had wanted to find ways to make the hosts even more realistic. How better could they test that than by designing a host based on a real person?
Logan stands up, and you’re pressed between them both. From then onwards they tease you relentlessly.
“The techies installed all the latest updates. I think they’re be a few features you’ll enjoy.”
One of them leaves a trail of kisses along your throat, whilst the other squeezes over your ass and gropes your breasts.
“Which one of us is the real one?”
“Can’t tell can you, baby?”
“What should we do with you?”
Front Logan cups your face in his hands, lips moving firmly against yours and you shudder in the hold of the other Logan, who runs his hands down your body. He rocks his hips forward, grinding his cock against your ass cheeks.
Pulling away from your lips, the Logan in front of you looks as wild and breathless as your Logan always does after kissing you. The other Logan sucks on your earlobe, teeth scraping over the tender skin there in a familiar motion.
“Did that feel real, baby?”
“Dirty girl, can’t even tell the difference between plastic and a real man.”
“I don’t think you care which one of us fucks you, hm?”
“Perhaps we both should. See if you can tell the difference once we’re finished.”
-
It’s early morning when you wake cuddled up next to your Logan - the real Logan. He smooths over your hair softly when he feels you move, nuzzling closer into his chest. He sees you peek your eyes open, spotting the other Logan slumped in a corner, deactivated.
“Knew you were the real one.” You mumble against his skin. He laughs lowly in disbelief.
“Bullshit.”
“I did.”
“And when did you realise that? When my cock was inside you, or when you had his in your mouth?”
You scoff at his crude attempt at distracting you.
“Knew as soon as I saw you.”
“How?”
“Your little beauty mark,” you remark teasingly, tapping the side of his face just underneath his eye. “They put it on the wrong side.”
He stares at you for a long moment, his head swivelling between you and the fake Logan before he groans, tipping his head back into the pillow.
“A genius in their field and they don’t even know their left from right.” You hum quietly,
“It’s good to know you’re hiring the best.”
There’s a pause as Logan continues to ponder your revelation. Then the two of you laugh, and Logan pulls you further into his arms, pressing an affectionate kiss to your lips.

Okay, after braving the wilds of Threads, I was compelled to try out a couple of other social media apps/sites as well.
I will go ahead and say that, while Threads does indeed need a lot more work, and it does indeed keep track of far more of your information than a site should period . . . the facts remain that this stage is literally just its beta, and Ol' Zuck would have already been tracking that information on you through FB and IG. TBH, if you were already using IG, there's no real reason not to use Threads outside of if you just don't want to.
That scare of 'you can't delete Threads without deleting IG!' is not technically incorrect, but it leaves out the fact that Threads isn't actually an independent app at this stage (if it'll ever be) but an off-shoot of IG. Wanting to delete your Threads account without removing your IG would be like trying to remove your basement without taking apart your house.
Also, the gist of the claim that you can't delete ignores that you can deactivate -- it's effectively the same as deleting, but it leaves you the option to come back, and prevents people from being able to snatch your handle.
Also ALSO, you can very much uninstall the physical app from your device, it's just your account will remain yours no matter what.
I don't personally recommend Threads yet since the search function is basic, tags aren't a thing yet, you can't see the posts you've like, there's no explore page or DM function, and they're still working out glitches, but those are things the staff has reported that they're actively working to address. TBH, as far as a straight bird app clone goes, it's already better than, say, Spoutible.
Now, Spoutible is purporting to be trying to be the next Twitter, but after testing out the site and app, I'd say it's more like if Twitter and Facebook had a child, but it turned out the child was actually adopted and just happened to share a number of traits with its parent sites. Spoutible is not under Muskrat's X Corp umbrella nor Zuck's Meta umbrella; they're their own thing.
Their functionality isn't great, but they technically have everything a person would want from a social media app. My main gripes are that I can't change my location to say anything but the United States (I can't select anything but the US despite there being a dropdown list), things that should scroll DON'T scroll unless you finesse it in a very non-intuitive way, and the site itself just feels rather bland. Clean, but bland.
Also, it apparently isn't available for iOS yet? This last part isn't a gripe, just a statement of bemusement. With the type of posts I see on this site, you would think it would be filled with iOS users -- these people just give off that vibe. Do with that information what you will.
The one that really surprised me, though, was Cohost. Let me say this out of the gate -- it's in beta. It's unashamedly in beta, and they have what they're working on right on the side of their main page/your dashboard at all times, but . . . it's in beta the same way that AO3 is in beta.
Cohost is known for trying to be a Twitter alternative even though they loudly reject that claim, but it actually has more in common with Tumblr. The profile page is like Twitter, but the dashboard does posts and reblogs in exactly the same manner as Tumblr, their tagging and liking function is the same, the feed is exclusively chronological, you can save post drafts, and they filter content through a blacklist as well.
Color palletes are part of their paid features at the moment, but considering it has no ads and promises to remain that way, AND the only restriction against 18+ content is that it must be tagged and marked appropriately, that's a small compensation. They're still rolling out features like asks, and DMs aren't a thing yet, but I'm actually really hopeful for this one. It gives me the same energy as when AO3 was first becoming a thing.
It's also primarily filled with furries at the moment, but that's just a matter of fact and something to be taken as a pro or con depending on the individual.
With Cohost and Pillowfort marching steadily forward in their development, I actually feel really good about Tumblrina's being able to find a new and suitable home if Tumblr ever makes itself completely uninhabitable. Really the only downsides to moving over to these two sites right away is that there are still a number of features left that Tumblr does better or has that they don't, and that there's no telling exactly when these sites will be at the state that their staff teams consider officially out of beta.

When Wild opens the door to the next room she’s immediately greeted by a deep purple smoke.  The femme coughs and splutters as an unpleasant burn settles its way down her throat and olfactory sensors. While attempting to waft away the incredibly dark and dense smoke her servo completely disappears. Great another room where she can’t see what the frag she’s dealing with.
Not wanting to inhale anymore of the noxious fumes the plating on Wild’s faceplates shifts to form a mask, covering her lipplates. The femme lets out an exvent, she’s getting tired of this cat and mouse chase between her and Flatline. With no other way to go Wild steps into the smoke, the door slamming behind her. Guess Flatline really wants me in this room.
As the femme takes a few steps her helm begins to dully ache,  the pain growing and spreading with each step she takes. The back of her optics begins to throb from the pain. What the frag has she walked into? Letting out pained groan she clutches at her helm. Maybe if she deactivates her optics the throbbing will stop? Can’t hurt can it? She thinks to herself, doing just that.
A wave of instant relief washes over her, pain disappearing immediately. She can’t recall a scent to the smoke? Most noxious gases have a smell for safety reasons. She knows she’s going to have to open her optics again, she can’t risk being unable to protect herself.
Reactivating her optics, Wild expects the pain to return as sudden as it had disappeared. She did not expect to find herself back on Cybertron. She lets out a gasp while peering around. She knows this place! How the frag is she in the training grounds at the Pits of Kaon?!
Thudding pedesteps bring her out of bewilderment and remind her just why she’s here. Wild changes her stance, readying her axes in preparation for her next attacker, except nothing could have prepared her for who she was about to see.
No.. no it can’t be. It’s impossible! A large ground framed mech comes to a standstill on the opposite side of the training ground. The unforgettable and most prominent feature on the mech is the cracked armour spanning across his chest and up to his left pauldron. Bright yellow light glows through the Lichtenberg patterning. Wild remembers asking about the cracks, the result of the first fight the mech ever thought in the Pits of Kaon. It earnt him his designation; Lightning Strike. “Sire?!” Wild cries out in disbelief. How?! He can’t be here! He’s been dead 11 million years!
“Odiyashi It’s time for your training session.” Lightning Strike responds, except theirs no cheerfulness in his voice like there should be, there’s no excitement.
Something is wrong, really wrong.
Lightning Strike stampedes his way over to Wild, closing the distance between them within mere moments, his thunderous pedesteps drowning out the silence of the empty ground. The muscular mech makes his next move, swinging at the small femme.
Wild barely manages to dodge out the way, returning the action by swinging his axe in a slash up the gladiator’s abdomen. He lets out a groan as he stumbles away from her, prompting the femme to go in for another attack, aiming for the large mechs forearm. As Wild swings, Lightning Strike thrusts his servo forward, catching her arm and halting the attack. In one foul swoop the warrior tightens his grasp on her arm a he raises her off the ground before tossing her away as if she weighs nothing.
Wild lets out a litany of grunts as she tumbles about, axes flinging away. For frag sakes.. she really needs to out straps on those damn things.
“Guess we’re settling this hand to hand.. what’s the matter worried you’ll lose?” Wild taunts as she rises to her pedes.
“You’re weak and puny, a disgrace to the gladiators.”
“Wow where’d you find that insult?” She sneers, lunging herself at the mech in order to close the gap between them.  As soon as she’s close enough Wild leaps up, kicking her leg upwards with all her weigh, slamming her pede into Lightning’s bottom jaw, causing him to bite down hard on his own glossa. Wild uses her momentum, cartwheeling away from her opponent in order to dodge his next move. She refuses to acknowledge the burning sting of her wounds as she contorts her frame. It’ll take more than some mere stab and gunshot wounds to keep her down.
Deep gruff growls come from the frustrated mech as they once again come closer to Wild. Yet another indication to Wild that this supposed opponent is not the real deal. This fight is only just getting started and they already sound like they’re about to give in.
The imposter takes another swing at Wild, only for her to sidestep it and high kick the mech, ramming her shin into the side of his frame.  A large servo smacks into the femme catching her off guard, giving the imposter the opportunity to hoist the femme up in his servos.
Wild snarls, kicking and wriggling in the mechs grasp as she pulls at his digits in attempt to free herself.  Bulky digits dig into the femmes frame, indenting the metal from the force. The ice protecting Wild’s stab wound splinters away as the imposter forces his thumb to penetrate through the metal, pushing energon to ooze out and causing the small femme to yowl.
Talons rake harshly against the imposter’s faceplating, aiming for those piercing yellow optics. When that fails to get him to release her she switches tactics, jabbing her talons into the plating until she can find the wiring she requires. Wild ignores the outcries from the mech handling her and carries on ripping and yanking until finally with one vicious tug the optic comes free from its socket.
The fake Lightning strike tosses the small femme to the ground, servos clutching at his face in agony. Energon leaks between his digits, dripping down his face and down the back of his servo. The small femme lets out a pained groan, clutching at her bleeding side once again. The wound has been torn wide open, exposing wiring and metal mesh with fresh energon seeping outwards, running into transformation seams like a small flowing river.
The one time I leave my medkit at home.. frag.
With no option other than to freeze the wound over again she does just that, forcing herself to her pedes once again. Wild peers over at Lightning Strike, who is still trying to adjust to having his optic ripped out.
Come on femme get it together!
Fighting through the pain and completely disregarding her wounds, Wild charges at Lightning Strike. At the last moment her charge turn into a slide tackle, taking the fake Lighting’s legs from beneath him and dropping him to his knees. Not wanting to lose her advantage Wild flings herself at the mech, using her weight to force him down onto his back as she straddles his chest.
The mech balls his servos tightly into fists, punching Wild in the chest in an attempt to free himself from her grasp. Determined to stay on top and in control Wild returns his punch with one of her own; except hers is to that empty bleeding socket on his helm.
Lightning Strike snarls, throwing his fist at Wild’s helm this time. Wild turns her helm so she faces the oncoming punch, opening her intake wide before biting down on the mech’s digits, fangs tearing through the metal like a shredder tearing through paper.
Pained screams ring from the mech as he desperately tries to free himself from the vicious attack, this only works to Wild’s favour, severing several of his digits from his servo. Energon spurts in bursts  her intake, prompting the femme to spit the appendages and her intake full onto the ground beside her.
Her attack doesn’t stop there, taloned digits take a hold of the imposters helm digging into the metal like dainty knives as they create bleeding gouges. “Not real!” Wild shouts slamming the copies helm into the training ground floor with such force a dent appears immediately.
Again, she slams the mech’s helm  into the ground. “ Fake!”
Cold builds in the core of Wild’s frame, spreading up her shoulders and into her arms with
“YOU AREN’T REAL!” Wild bellows, ice blasting from her servos into the mechs helm. For a split moment the ice disappears, only to violently erupt from each cheek of his helm in a spear of ice. Lightning Strike’s remaining optic instant flickers offline and his frame goes limp underneath her.
Fans whirr to life and machinery creaks as the ventilation system kicks in. A purple smoke wisps around Wild like a gust of wind blowing through a valley. Once again Wild finds herself unable to see through the rich purple haze prompting her to try and waft away the smoke. When her vision finally clears Wild finds herself back in yet another empty room, straddled on top of the chest of completely different corpse.  The femme recoils away, falling backwards as she scrambles away from the body.
What the frag did she just experience?  But if it was all l just a hallucination, how did she feel the pain?
Wild looks down at her bleeding side, carefully touching at it with a digit only to wince from the pain. That damage is definitely real.
Biting back a pained whimper as she moves the femme presses on, once again retrieving the weapons she had dropped. This was just another inexperienced opponent, masquerading as someone their not. She’ll make sure Flatline suffers for taking her happy memories and attempting to corrupt them.

oooooooo please talk about "I Feel Your Blue Fingers on Me" and Trifecta Labs Lives! I'm so curious.
Will not lie, my reaction upon reading this was, "Oh, really? !!!" And then a smile with excitement haha.
Okay, so I'll knock out the easier one first; Trifecta Labs Lives was one of the WIPs I had no idea what it was about, and it turns out that that is because it's not actually mine lol. This was a set of notes I took for a friend's work (taking notation as they thought aloud in the position of helping them brainstorm, essentially) in their fictional world where a group of AI have gone rampant. It's really rather short, I think it wound up in my WIP folder because I just hit save, sent it their way, and forgot about it.
The other one, I Feel Your Blue Fingers On Me, is a Horizon Zero Dawn smut idea, oddly enough with another AI featuring.
Spoilers for Horizon Zero Dawn, specifically the Frozen Wilds DLC.
I never made it that far into this, but now that I'm reminded of it I kinda want to give it another go sometime. The premise requires a bit of background - the two featured characters would be Aloy (protagonist of HZD) and CYAN, an AI left over from the 'old world' who was supposed to just be an autonomous, psychologically stunted custodial system, but whose creators permitted a level of sapience beyond legal parameters, thus granting her emotions. Aloy meets CYAN over the course of the game, and learns that CYAN is really depressed and lonely after a few thousand years on her own.
So, the idea was based on the idea that loner Aloy would eventually form a relationship with CYAN, which by the point of the story's beginning would be comfortable enough for them to experiment with new things - in this case, playing with the idea of 'overriding' Aloy's Focus device, a concept in the HZD fandom I have seen like twice and never in writing, much less in smut.
Essentially playing with various kinks of corruption, subliminal messaging, dom/sub dynamics, hypnosis, etc., but in an ultimately wholesome consensual way.
The title would have been kind of playing on the idea of CYAN (whose projections are, unsurprisingly, blue) playing with Aloy mentally since physically doesn't work. The fingers are metaphorical; CYAN's projection is a large sphere if memory serves, not an anthropomorphic appearance. Funnily enough I'm pretty sure I last touched this idea before I realized I was asexual, and I wonder if my subconscious was trying to tell me something about not particularly being into the idea of the whole normal sex thing (I tend to vibe way more with the mental aspect of smut than the specifically physical, though they're often linked).
Idk, I just really liked CYAN a lot, she got a lot of good dialogue options and she's just so sad, you know? A thousand years of just doing complicated math problems to while away the time with nobody to talk to, knowing the whole world ended and you got left alone, not deactivated as you should have been. She and Aloy have the same vibe of being alone, so let them be alone together, y'know?
I think I fell off of the idea when my computer started slowing down and I couldn't play HZD on it anymore; I'm hoping to pick up a new desktop sometime in the next year that can, and I'd love to revisit the idea then. Maybe I'll do so before to plug the anticipation :)
Thanks for asking! This was way more fun than I expected it to be!

hamlet, prince of robots | books’22
Tumblr media
book: hamlet, prince of robots by m.darusha wehm
star rating: ★★★.25
genre: science fiction | speculative fiction
synopsis:
Elsinore Robotics is on the cusp of a breakthrough—the company is poised to create the first humanoid androids powered by true artificial intelligence. Their only rival, Norwegian Technologies, lost a publicly streamed contest between their flagship model, Fortinbras, and Elsinore’s HAM(let) v.1. But when the first Hamlet model is found irreparably deactivated, the apparent victim of wild malware, the field of consumer cybernetics is thrown wide open. However, Hamlet v.1’s memories were not entirely lost in the accident.
The seed of this story is excellent, there should definitely be more cyber-inspired Shakespearen retellings. It’s like gearing a well-oiled machine with new inventive features. The drama takes place among the c-suite of an android company, there is an open embrace of queerness, and the relationships are varied and non-conventional with robots thrown nto the mix.
It is worth reading for the interesting take alone. However, there were a few things in the execution that did not gel with me personally -- one to do with how the story was told. A lot more would have packed a punch if done by showing before telling, but it safely went with the other order. For example, Ophelia is declared to have deep platonic feelings for Hamlet before they even interact on page, and it is confirmed later on in their interaction. It would have kept me more engaged to see them play off of each other first and make that assumption, rather than be guided through character emotions by narration. It dispersed a lot of the character mystery. Second note to make is on the same playing field, which would be dialogue. It is not heavy on delivery, yet, there are times when they exhibit language that comes across more poetic or old-timey than the context allows. It refers to the lines of the initial play, but the transition is not exactly seamless. Granted, there were genuinely sweet moments between characters, and sometimes the heightened language worked into their tandem. Coming from a different end of the spectrum, I found the Lion King scene to be, while a cool nod, quite comical; so that too resisted giving it all a consistent tone. Having said that, I am quite curious to look into more of the author’s works, the ideas and the world are rather fascinating. The power-play withing a futuristic company is quite a premise, and their discussion on the differences between robotic and organic perception on life and relationships is something I would like to read more of!
I have received ARC in exchange for an honest review, courtesy of Netgalley and the publisher. Thank you.

When TV shows perform a “body swap” (SNW, Orville)
Some thoughts on the latest episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and the long-awaited return of The Orville (despite my complaining about access, I was able to view the first episode of Season 3).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The tl;dr before the spoiler break (and there will be plot spoilers for both): Both shows were excellent. But, while one featured a body swap between two characters; the other episode seemingly featured a body swap between two shows.
“Spock Amok”, the latest episode of SNW (and I’m told the midway point of the all-too-brief first season) might be the first all-out comedy episode (outside of Lower Decks, which is meant to be a sitcom) the Trek franchise has attempted since Enterprise’s infamous “A Night in Sickbay” nearly 20 years ago, but it’s much more successful. At this point I’ve given up trying to reconcile SNW as being part of “prime” Trek canon - it can’t be. And I’m fine with that. I WANT them to say it’s a reboot/reimagining because I hope it will free them up to do more stories like this which give us underserved characters like T’Pring and Chapel in a new light. Unfortunately I’m finding myself shipping Spock/T’Pring and Spock/Chapel at the same time. I know I’m not alone. Ethan Peck’s Spock and Gia Sandhu’s T’Pring and Ethan and Jes Bush’s Christine Chapel have amazing chemistry together. So do Gia and Jes, for that matter.
Unlike Discovery and Picard, which (a few Orville-esque moments aside) feel like plot-heavy, serious-to-a-fault shows, SNW has so far managed to replicate the feel of TOS in a way I don’t think we’ve ever seen since, well, TOS. “Spock Amok” (which is NOT the reimagining of “Amok Time” the ads make it out to be, though the opening certainly pays tribute to the TOS episode, right down to recreating the famous fight music!) is a joyous episode built around a classic sci-fi trope, the body swap. Due to a katra-related ceremony going off the rails in an attempt at Vulcan couples’ therapy, Spock and his fiancee, T’Pring, swap bodies just as the two are being called upon to take part in some serious business (negotiations to recruit a new Federation ally for Spock and for T’Pring it’s the apprehension of a Vulcan criminal whose crime is apparently being an asshole). We’ve seen swaps before in Trek (Turnabout Intruder, for one) and in other shows like Farscape, but it’s handled so well here, it stands apart. Meanwhile, Chapel (whose love life is discussed in a bit of detail) finds herself in the middle of the two, M’Benga goes fishing, and La’an and Una try to prove that Una’s lower-decks nickname “Where Fun Goes to Die” is untrue by playing through a wild set of tasks known as “Enterprise Bingo”.
The whole thing looks and feels so much like a Lower Decks episode (especially the whole Enterprise Bingo subplot which even connects to the “lower decks crew” concept), I was expecting to see a time-travelling Mariner and Boimler to turn up. That’s not a complaint - I love Lower Decks.
In contrast, The Orville: New Horizons decided to launch its new season - the first made for streaming service Hulu - with an episode so dark and serious it puts the darkest moments of DS9 and Discovery to shame. It’s hard to believe this was ever considered a comedy series. I have to be careful how I discuss the episode because I know “trigger words” are a thing. Basically, after robotic Isaac finds himself ostracized by the crew due to his actions in Season 2 (he was revealed to be a “sleeper” agent of the Kalons, a robotic race bent on wiping out all life in Orville’s version of the Federation. He was brought back to the side of good but not until thousands of people were killed in a battle), he basically ... commits deactivation. The episode does not shy away from using the S-word here and it features characters on both sides of the issue. I suppose back in the 1980s US network TV might have promoted this as “a very special” episode.
People who think Seth MacFarlane is all fart jokes and edgy humour (or, for that matter, TNG homages) may find themselves surprised. As writer and director of the episode, he approaches both sides of the issue with remarkable candor. He takes a side, to be sure, but he allows both sides to be heard. And the episode has angered some fans - in much the same way Trek, at its most powerful, has been known to do. (And I don’t mean regarding canon, quality, or any of that). Technically, it’s feature length (about 70 minutes), so Seth allows scenes to breath and conversations to take place. It makes for a slow-moving episode at times, but ... it works. Incidentally, although one character says “bullshit” which is a word Fox TV wouldn’t have allowed, at least in the first episode Seth hasn’t turned The Orville into a swearing-and-sex fest on streaming. Other than that one swear there’s nothing here we might not have seen on Fox ... except, possibly the storyline. There have been questions asked as to why Seth moved The Orville to streaming and I think the ability to tell stories like this may have been a reason.
Seth also takes the brave step of allowing a season premiere to (after some initial awwwww it’s back! moments) focus on a brand-new character, Charly Burke who, at first, resembles Alara Kitan a bit too much (give actress Anne Winters dark hair and she’d be a dead ringer at times for Halston Sage, and they even give Charly her own superpower (the ability to visualize in 4 dimensions), but she very quickly reveals a voice that has already reminded some fans of Ensign Ro from late-era TNG, which again is not necessarily a bad thing.
Overall an excellent episode, if a slightly concerning one. One reason why Trek fans have gravitated to The Orville since 2017 is because it provided a counterbalance (or, for some, an outright alternative) to modern Star Trek which is seen by many as being too serious, too political, and playing too fast and loose with established canon. The Orville felt like a modern-day remake of Star Trek TNG by someone who understood what made TNG popular, not to mention TOS. But this week, at least, it felt like Strange New Worlds is the show that has the formula, while The Orville felt like an episode you might expect of Discovery. Again, not necessarily a complaint from me because it was so well done the episode title, “Electric Sheep” (itself a reference to the iconic Philip K. Dick story about artificial life that was adapted as Blade Runner) might as well have been subtitled “The Orville’s Emmy Nomination Episode.”
Back to SNW: since I’ve made the choice not to accept it as “prime” canon, I am greatly enjoying it. Sadly, I know people have written off the show simply because of certain names on the credits. Right now it’s Alex Kurtzman. 10 years ago it was J.J. Abrams. 20 years ago it was Rick Berman and Brannon Braga. At least with Trek I don’t play that game. I chose to no longer watch Discovery and Picard because they no longer felt like Star Trek (and had other negatives like characters and storylines I did not like). But Strange New Worlds is actually Star Trek with likeable characters, homages galore to the original series (even the original theme from TOS is established as existing in the SNW version of the Trek universe when its fanfare is heard coming from a device during “Spock Amok”), and interesting stories. This is what we should have got back in 2017. If you’ve been avoiding SNW because it has the same pedigree as Discovery and Picard, I’d suggest giving it a try. So far SNW Season 1 has been the strongest first season of a Trek series since (and I don’t say this lightly) the first season of TOS. Every Trek series since TOS has had weak (or at least weak-er) first seasons, with some shows taking so long to find their voice - like Enterprise - it’s too late. Although the DISCO episodes with Pike were hit-and-miss, and the less said about the Short Trek with the Tribbles, the better, SNW has been firing at Warp 9 since the first episode.
As for The Orville, I’m glad to see it back. It delivered an excellent opening episode with amazing work by everyone involved. But I am concerned that if it swings too serious it may lose much of the appeal that made it so popular in the first place. But I look forward to seeing how the new season plays out and I still have immense goodwill towards it, while SNW is rapidly restoring my own goodwill toward live-action Star Trek series.

Ikkkk and this bitch who I will not name (for obvs reasons) had to rat me out and make a big deal about it! So many people in that goddamn fandom starting blocking me and shit and when I made a post talking about how hypocritical they were since they rb’d posts about that fandom from one of my old (deactivated) blogs that included the ship, people were bloody saying I was stalking and doxxing them! Brooooo
Here are the characters I ship btw:
The whole lore of the media is literally just between these two characters lmaoooo
And yes, these are characters from a Disneyland Paris ride.
And yes, people (most grown ass adults) got so heated up over a ship between two animatronics in a theme park…

Mastering the Reels: A Guide to Online Slot Mechanics
Online slot games are a dynamic fusion of art, technology, and chance, captivating players with their immersive themes and thrilling gameplay. Central to the slot experience are the spinning reels, the fundamental mechanic that determines the outcome of each spin. This article serves as a comprehensive guide to understanding and mastering the intricacies of online to4d slot mechanics, unraveling the mysteries behind the reels that shape the excitement of the gaming journey.
1. Basics of Reel Mechanics: Reels are the vertical columns on which the game symbols are displayed. In traditional slots, there are usually three reels, but modern video slots can feature five or more. The arrangement of symbols on the reels, as well as the number of reels and rows, collectively defines the slot's reel mechanics.
2. Paylines and Winning Combinations: The alignment of symbols across predefined paylines creates winning combinations. Paylines can vary in number, and players often have the option to activate or deactivate them before each spin. Understanding the paylines and the potential winning combinations is essential for players seeking to maximize their chances of landing winning spins.
Tumblr media
3. Ways to Win: In addition to traditional paylines, some slots feature the "Ways to Win" mechanic. Instead of specific paylines, these slots offer wins for matching symbols on adjacent reels, providing more flexibility and increasing the number of potential winning combinations. "Ways to Win" adds a dynamic element to slot gameplay, offering varied and exciting opportunities for wins.
4. Reel Symbols and Themes: The symbols displayed on the reels contribute to the theme and narrative of the slot game. These symbols can range from traditional card suits to thematic icons such as fruits, jewels, or characters. Understanding the value of each symbol and how they interact with paylines is crucial for grasping the mechanics of a particular slot.
5. Wild Symbols and Scatters: Wild symbols serve as versatile icons that can substitute for other symbols to create winning combinations. They act as dynamic elements in slot mechanics, enhancing the potential for wins. Scatters, on the other hand, often trigger bonus features or free spins when a certain number appears on the reels. Incorporating wild symbols and scatters adds layers of excitement to slot gameplay.
6. Cascading Reels: Some modern slots feature the innovative Cascading Reels mechanic. When a winning combination occurs, the symbols involved disappear, making way for new symbols to cascade down and potentially create additional wins. Cascading Reels create a dynamic and engaging experience, allowing players to enjoy consecutive wins within a single spin.
7. Expanding and Stacked Symbols: Expanding symbols grow to cover entire reels, increasing the chances of forming winning combinations. Stacked symbols appear in clusters on a single reel, creating opportunities for multiple matching symbols to align. Both mechanics contribute to the unpredictability and excitement of slot gameplay.
8. Bonus Rounds and Special Features: Many slot games incorporate bonus rounds and special features that go beyond the traditional reel mechanics. These features, such as interactive mini-games or unique spins, add an extra layer of complexity and entertainment. Understanding how bonus rounds are triggered and their impact on the overall game enhances the mastery of slot mechanics.
9. Return to Player (RTP) Percentage: The Return to Player percentage is a key element in slot mechanics, representing the theoretical payout to players over time. A higher RTP indicates a higher potential for payouts, although individual outcomes are still subject to chance. RTP provides valuable information for players seeking slots with favorable long-term returns.
10. Random Number Generators (RNGs): The cornerstone of fair and unpredictable slot mechanics is the use of Random Number Generators (RNGs). These algorithms ensure that the outcome of each spin is entirely random, with no predictable patterns. RNGs contribute to the integrity of slot gameplay, offering a level playing field for all players.
In conclusion, mastering the reels in online slot games involves a thorough understanding of the mechanics that shape the gaming experience. From traditional paylines to innovative features like Cascading Reels and Expanding Symbols, each element contributes to the excitement and unpredictability of slot gameplay. Armed with knowledge about reel mechanics, players can approach online slots with confidence, maximizing their enjoyment and potentially unlocking the thrill of winning spins.

at first you struck me as a dog lover (derogatory) but then realized the error of my ways. what do you think of bugs and spiders as pets 👀
djdjdzeje 😭
I used to have a mutual (but I think she deactivated?) who had spiders, scorpio(?), and a bunch of insects , and scrolling through her blog posts featuring her 'pets' was both disgusting and fascinating 🫠
Couldn't be me, though. I'm not an animal lover and I think most animals are better off living in the wild. Snakes and spiders should be forbidden to be pet because they're too dangerous. I hate this trend of people shoving (poisonous) exotical animals as pets. If they want to find big sensation they can bungee jumping off a bridge or parachute jumping. Let those freaking animals were they're supposed to live.

Dark Side Switch 21
“Where is he?”
Kytra radiated fury, lightsabers blazing. The Gran found himself lifted and pushed against the wall by the Force, gasping for air. “WHERE IS HE?”
“I… don’t know… what you’re talking about!” the Gran wheezed.
“BULLSHIT.” She strode up to her prisoner, knuckles white against black and silver metal. A glowing red blade came uncomfortably close to his neck, heat radiating and making his skin crack. “You will tell me where you sent him or you will discover the true meaning of suffering today. I promise you that.”
“It’s… too late… by the time you --” he gasped for air, his three eyes beginning to cloud over.
Her features contorted in disgust and with a yank of her arm she sent him flying to the corner. “You are truly useless. Vile scum.”
He rubbed his neck as he slowly recovered, breathing heavily. “You’ll never find him… by the time you find his trail he’ll be long gone, Sith.”
“LIAR!” she snarled, preparing to behead him -- until a soft voice spoke from the shadows.
“Sith.”
She paused, lightsaber still held aloft in her fist; for a moment all that could be heard was the crackle of the blade. Tryder stepped forward, watching her carefully. “He’s no use to you dead, Kytra. You know that.” She didn’t turn to face him, but after another long moment, she stepped back, lightsabers hissing as they were deactivated.
“Your luck won’t last forever, Marnel.”
She spun on her heel and strode out of the cell, muted fury still simmering off her. Tryder turned to the captive. “Where would you even sell a narglatch? That animal only responds to her.”
The Gran chuckled. “Coruscant. Where else has the Livestock Exchange?”
“Are you sure this is a good idea?”
Tryder shrugged. “This might be our last chance to get him back.”
“Who cares? He’s not your man-eating beast. Let her sort it out on her own. You’ve done plenty already.”
“What, and leave Kytra to die?”
The Nautolan, sitting against the other side of the wall, flinched. She shouldn’t listen in, she knew full well that she was breaking an unspoken rule, but she’d rather know.
The Rodian nodded emphatically. “The way I see it, that solves both problems. You don’t have to go on some wild ((star wars equivalent of goose??)) chase, and the Sith Lord who – need I remind you – has a bounty on her head gives us some gods damned peace and quiet.”
“Hal-See, I couldn’t. I can’t.”
“Sure you can! You’re no Jedi, not anymore! Who cares!”
Both the Jedi and the Sith’s tempers flared at that. Tryder stood abruptly from where he’d been sitting at the kitchen table, and he rushed out of the apartment, passing Kytra without seeming to recognize her existence. She thought about going after him, trying to decide if he just needed time to cool off or if the company would help.
Unfortunately, the Rodian wasn’t in such a hurry.
“I – you – I… didn’t mean it?”
Kytra stood, carefully as to not exacerbate the healing wound in her abdomen. “I should kill you.” Her tone was cold and level. She looked him up and down, one hand on the hilt of her right saber.
“You heard that, huh.”
The Chiss didn’t turn around, choosing to keep sitting on the ledge.
“I didn’t mean to intrude.”
Kytra sat down, keeping a respectful distance. “You don’t have to help me, you know.”
“You’d kill me if I didn’t.”
“I can’t tell if you’re being genuine or not.”
Tryder just shrugged.
“I… look, Tryder. I can’t ask you to help me. This isn’t your fight.”

Making a turn based battle system
Hey everyone! long time no chat, however it has absolutely not been a long time since I've programmed. According to my last count (I am now counting,) I've gotten 20 whole hours of solid programming time, and worked on 4 mini tests/projects to understand multiple features of object-oriented programming in gamemaker, like arrays, structs, and physics! But anyway, now I'm taking some time to learn how to make a turn-based-battle system, which is something I feel I am advanced enough to understand.
I am following Shaun Spalding's Tutorial, which is a multi-part series. So anyway, diving in!
I am working from a pre-made base provided by Shaun, and while I appreciate that this helps get things going quickly, there are some setup parts that were skipped that I wish I'd had the chance to practice. It DOES have a pretty cool camera already setup that I'm looking forward to dissecting later!
Tumblr media
This is a script Shaun started (which I understand we'll be building on later) which contains some game data such as the party members.
Tumblr media
This is an array with two structs in it. The structs contain normal variables, but also a struct AND an array! I'm trying to keep track of the way the data is organized, because that's really important!
also in the game data script is an array of enemies. They are built very similar to party members, however they include an AI script which chooses what moves it will do. Very cool!
Tumblr media
We are now going to add the first feature to this project, which is triggering the encounter when the player runs into an enemy. This is accomplished by drawing the encounter over the map without changing rooms, which is another way to go about it.
I've created a new object, which I assume I will spawn on the map programmatically at some point, which deactivates all current objects and draws the background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next I'm creating a new script for battle functions.
The first function is called newencounter(), which will presumably be called when I collide with an enemy. It creates the battle manager object.
Tumblr media
What's really interesting about this instance_create function is its the first time I have used the optional struct argument. See at the bottom I am passing a new struct with data in it to the battle object. I think it would go into the create event of the new object. WILD!
Okay so the last step before testing this is making a collision event with the slime enemy object, and using that to call newencounter()
Tumblr media
notable that if I want to have an encounter with multiple enemies, I can pass an array into it, too! fascinating.
The test worked, I'll screenshot stuff once we populate the battlefield with enemies.
Tumblr media
For now, I'm making a new object called o_battleunit. Not much in it now except setting the sprite. I assume we'll be passing that sprite to it from the enemy structs we made earlier. This is probably a parent object.
Tumblr media
Before I go further, I'm going back to the o_battle object and commenting what kind of info gets passed to it and from where. This is for my own clarity/sanity in case anything goes wrong!
Okay, so now we're going to the o_battle manager and getting it to spawn some map units.
Tumblr media
I would like to take this time start pointing out how vague the naming conventions Shaun uses. There is no distinction for example between enemies on the map and enemies in battle. Also what the fuck is the difference between "units" and "enemyunits", and for that matter, "enemies"? This is going to get confusing really fast if I don't comment the fuck out of this.
Tumblr media
Now I'm adding the units I've just created to the units array. SEE, this is the shit I'm talking about, why am I doing this? I know it will come in handy at some point but it's not being explained!? Also, I learned how the push function works (it just adds a value to the end of a array, apparently, which is NOT well described in the documentation!)
Tumblr media
Okay, doing the same thing now with the party units. I now see that we're adding them AND the enemies to the units[] list, I guess this would be useful for turn order.
Important thing to note. I didn't realize because Shaun didn't explain it in the video, but here at the end of the instance_create_depth function we pass another struct to the newly created battleunit object.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It took some hunting but I realized the struct was the slime template in the game data script! it was passed through the new encounter function which was then passed to the o_battle object and finally to the battle unit, meaning even though there's not a lot of code in the battle unit right now, it actually has all of these variables included upon creation! christ this is already so complicated.
Tumblr media
anyway yay! We have officially spawned the party and the enemies, and the parent unit object should have all their stats loaded into it. But the slimes are facing the wrong way so we're gonna fix that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this was fixed in THE MOST INEFFICIENT, HILARIOUS WAY, which is to make two child objects of the battle unit, one for party and one for enemy, and just flip the image_xscale of the enemy. I ASSUME we're going to be adding more stuff individually to those enemies later so we'll see!
Tumblr media
Well, the spawning screen does work now!
God, this video is interminable. I *still* have to make some menu boxes. But its getting late so I'm gonna hit the hay. Until next time!
