Truth Begins With Belief - Chapter 1
The first chapter of my fic for Codywan Reverse Bang 2022 is up!

Chapter 1 - The Beginning
They were born for the Jedi.
They were born to fight, fall, get up, die.
Flesh droids. Fodder on the battlefield. They'd gotten good at hiding. They know what natural born beings think of them. All they have is each other. So they cling and cling tight. Enjoy today, for tomorrow might never come.
Then Cody meets a Jedi. His Jedi.
Maybe, just maybe, the Jedi were made them too.

Summary: Cody and Obi-Wan embark on their journey to find the boy who will defeat the darkness, as foretold by the Jedi many centuries ago. On their way, they encounter fantastical nature, magic and monsters, and secrets surrounding the history of the Empire; sometimes, even a crafted fate cannot always go as planned.

Snippet: “There you are,” Obi-Wan says, and he gestures with the sword to the side of the stones. Setting his pack carefully against the doorway, Cody hunches down, and sees the faint grooves of carvings, and oh, there he is.
The lines are weathered and a little indistinct in places, perhaps once painted over but now bare, and there Cody is, the simple shape of a standing man with ax and sax blade in either hand. He is portrayed next to a picture of a mountain, the sinuous trail of the river winding down from it and underneath his feet. Following it along, the river reaches a little copse of fir trees and dips down, disappearing at the bottom edge of the stone, but the pictures keep going; a plain stretch that at first glance is unintelligible lines, until Cody realises it’s meant to be tall grass, dwindling down to the long flat line of a horizon, the hatches of a sun hovering overhead. Another figure stands there at the other end of this progression, dressed in desert clothing.
“How old are—how long ago was this made?” Cody asks at once, almost startled into speech. He unbends from his crouch but can’t quite keep his eyes off the carvings.
“They were already very old when I first saw them,” Obi-Wan says, and then his mouth tightens a fraction. “So I suppose they’re far older now.” He considers the carvings too, although Cody thinks they’re likely a more condensed version of what he must already know. Obi-Wan turns away then, taking the light of his sword with him, leaving Cody alone in the gloom with the pool of water, his own little portrait, and the boy they need to find.

Codywan Reverse Bang Preview
I got so lucky to be able to participate in the @codywanreversebang and write for the amazing art done by @thegreencarousel ! I hope you enjoy the preview and get excited for fics to start going live on June 25th!
He managed to curl his hand around the General’s wrist. He pulled at the hand keeping the mask on his face. His vision still blurred but he could make out the General’s head shake. Even at death the General still put the clones’ lives above his own.
How many times had Cody seen this man, this Jedi, his Jedi, throw his own life towards Death as if it meant nothing?
Cody’s eyes stung. So many things he could say. Things he wanted to say.
