Anger HC.

In a nutshell.

She just doesn't exhibit such a specific emotion, finds no reliance of it. No anger, no temper tantrums, no real frustration. Suffice to say, Hinamori is the least likely of all individuals to come off as angry, no matter what is dished her way.

Bitter is the most apt description.

Perception.

Her views towards anger as a whole when it comes from other people, is partially seen as a defense mechanism and something situational. She does not require or feel appealed to get angry. Firm?, expressing a serious beneath her coolheadedness?, yes to these but never it is genuine anger. You're never going to get it out of her, lest children are involved/threatened.

In this one instance, she will not stand idly by and will defuse the situation but will never raise her voice all the same. Needless to say, she is able to be firm, able to scold others but never one to cross the line; anger.

How she, herself, utilize 'anger'.

Gently but not naive in its reliance.

Hinamori is well aware that life is hard, unfair, it is capable of unfathomable cruelties but it is why she, herself, will not adhere to this side of reality.

Many times is she perceived as a beacon of light, a relentless lighthouse amidst all kind of storms, etc. And it just shows time after time. She is a woman of solace, even in her fighting prowess it shows. She is a Healer, a Protector, just think of it akin to that healer meme.

Anger is not impossible but she does not treat it as such where someone else might. Disappointment?, bitterness, concern?, yes to these.

Her, 'going ham' (as to be read in a specific thread), is not her being angry. If anything it falls into being disappointed, into a dislike of hearing people belittle themselves.

Now lack of self confidence and belittle oneself, are two different things.

She is not going to call you out for being shy & awkward because thats a road Hina is much familiar with. But treating yourself like a tool, like garbage, right in front of her?. Well she is obviously going to say something to that.

Really, at most, all that is going to happen is her putting on a serious face, should she need to but even then, its effortlessly hidden beneath her calm demeanor, in her words.

'Anger' is both a possibility but also not.

Miscelleaneous.

The only real time where she may have reached the edge of anger, was in a time of loss- loss of control with her Vision.

Although, given it was not her in control, it was not a self willing anger moment so she does not see it count & would much rather not have to think back on what really occured that day.

Even if that kind of day, were to pass again, she has better control of her Vision, of herself as a whole.

Julian: dropped on the top of your head when you went in for a comforting hug, immediately followed by his gloved hand ruffling your hair as he tried to cheer you up with a silly joke

Asra: pressed between your eyebrows when you've just achieved something that was harder for you to do than you were willing to let on (may or may not be accompanied with a basic healing spell)

Nadia: brushed against your cheek in a friendly greeting - the same gesture she used to reserve only for family members, and one she hasn't done in quite some time. greets you that way from now on

Muriel: very, very carefully placed on your temple, after he found you alone in the woods seeking refuge for a good old-fashioned breakdown, followed by him leading you back home as he listens

Portia: less a kiss and moreso a friendly, gentle bite - your arm was right there while you traded idle gossip and the urge to hold it between her teeth was too strong for her happy, unguarded state

Lucio: on the back of your hand when he can tell your insecurities are getting to you. he knows how nice being treated like nobility can be for tired self-esteem! (and he'd be lying if he wouldn't like the same)

Borrowing Clothes

(M6 X MC [romantic])

Asra: already borrows your clothes on a daily basis. So he let's you borrow his in return. Admires you in his clothes because to him it means you like being in his presence.

Nadia: only borrows your clothes when she's stressed (which is everytime at this rate). Your scent calms her down. Secretly enjoys it. Doesn't tell you she borrows your clothes but you figure out anyway because your clothes get displaced often.

Julian: if he is borrowing your clothes, he must be having a really really bad day or a terrifying day. He would be walking to you, either shaking or depressed, asking if he could wear you clothes. Once he does, his emotions calm down immediately and turns into a tired redhead on the couch.

Muriel: your clothes are way too small for him, so it's you borrowing his clothes instead. That cloak of his? That's a heat generator. On cold walks in the woods, he would bring you his cloak to keep warm. Goes -.- everytime you say thanks.

Portia: she likes your jackets and scarves. Probably won't give it back. Will sometimes have special days where you and her switch outfits for the day. This annoys Ilya, a lot. Especially if you two have similar hair.

Lucio: Has torn your clothing the first time because of that gauntlet of his. Now is very cautious every time he borrows your clothes. Most times when he does that, it's because the dogs are stressing him out. Wants you to go deal with the dogs while he lays in bed with your clothes on.

Aka scary looking sweetheart and his sweet girlfriend. 💕💕

Calls him hubby, also scruffy bear, also blueberry muffin, also—

The start of the trip with Morga was not working out. Tad can’t walk so far on such different terrain, but they had to get going. Muriel was considering carrying her, but didn’t feel like he knew her enough to ask — until Morga played wingwoman and straight up told Muriel to carry her.

Tad felt horrible about the situation but Muriel assured her, “It’s fine…”

The whole trip, she was very gentle and patient with him, but she struggled with holding back from touching him. She wanted to put her hand on his, rub his back, comb his hair, and she sometimes couldn’t stop herself. Muriel would flinch back, but one day, he let her in. They had to work together.

Post-route, the two agreed to live with each other. She would cook tasty meals and he would clean as always. It was hard at first, but only because Muriel was just getting used to doing the things Asra would do for her. She couldn't lift jugs, chop wood, or go on long patrols, but she found ways to get by.

Some things she could use magic for. A quick dusting, levitation for high up shelves, etc. She also has a knack for crocheting and sewing so Muriel now has a nice drawer full of fitted homemade clothing.

One investment they made was a big futon they could roll out in front of the fireplace for extra chilly winters. Tad LIVES on that thing and Muriel can't blame her... Well, if you can't beat em, join em.

Inanna was standoffish at first but luckily Tad loves to baby animals, and a big scary wolf was no exception. Their naps sync up. 🥺

Due to her condition, Tad’s brain can sometimes be a little empty. Her memory and processing declined and she has trouble with basic tasks. It’s a soft spot for her, so Muriel is just as patient with her as she is with him. He waits as long as he needs for her to finish her thoughts. He reciprocates her actions back to her. He pets her head, holds her hands, and rests his head on her.

Gray frequents the infirmary the most. In one of my ideas lately, after thinking about iced shell, maybe ice make makes the body a bit more…prone to cracking? Maybe he bruises easy and gets a lot of head wounds. It’s why he’s always in bandages longer. I like the idea of Porlyusica getting sick of him.

Team Natsu/the guild/slayers taking care of him, even when he doesn’t realise it. (Against pervs, against himself, maybe people are a bit racist (with him being not from Fiore).

Gray gets sad sometimes and dissociates.

Gray has night terrors so he has sleeping pills, but on missions he also has caffeine tablets to keep him awake so he doesn’t have terrors around them. Safe to say, they aren’t happy when they find this.

Lucy asks Gray about where he’s from, traditions etc, and the guild realises he might be homesick so they secretly try to learn things for him. (Over the years they’ve picked up swear words (Gray doesn’t realise he’s doing it and they’ve never told him))

Gray’s actually quite touch starved. His body temperature is cold so most people stay away/ don’t touch him (but don’t realise they’re doing it). The only one who can stand is Natsu because of his magic. Maybe it gets worse after becoming a slayer.

there is a lot here so vv

* Hes the single reason why the guild infirmary is always having to restock

* Due to Grays multiple usages of iced shell some of his body did turn to ice, most sections of his bones, it looks like a normal bones but it acts like ice, which means hes more likely to break a bone

* unfortunately, its not like a normal broken bone for obvious reasons. itll splinter and have hairline cracks all over the bones before it breaks.

* It takes less time to heal than a normal break, he just has to get it wrapped and limit his usage of his magic so it can ‘heal’ (as in, ice it over again) the breaks and cracks. It takes less time to heal and also less pressure to break, win lose situation tbh

* Which is also why head wounds are especially dangerous for him, skull fractures are more common for him than anyone would like, which is to say any at all

* His external body temperature is low and causes him to bruise like a peach, getting a friendly slap on the back can cause him to bruise for weeks, especially from Erza

* bro hasnt gone a day without a bruise in like ten years

* Hes been dragged to Porlyusica so many times now that anytime she sees him (on the field, in her office, even completely out of context and hes not visibly injured) its like second nature to check him out first

* if she could go a month, or even just two weeks! without seeing him she might consider changing her views on humanity (probably not but its the thought that counts)

* Also Gray has small sections of what people think is frostbite on his hands and feet. It doesnt hurt or limit him at all but theyre there, showed up some time post devil slayer magic

* ALSO! His blood runs slower and is darker due to his low body temperature, causes him only the vaguest of problems but its a thing (this is common in most powerful ice wizards)

* Gray likes to pretend hes good at taking care of himself, but hes not hes really not

* Luckily he has a lot of nosy and protective friends thatll do it for him (in their own ways)

* Natsu literally temperature exploding some guys glass at a bar when he got wayyyy too friendly and handsy with Gray

* they were kicked out but he was really proud of himself

* Rogue drawing shadows towards Gray if he needs to sleep and its too bright, or Sting creating a warm light beam when its dark out and Gray wants to embrace his inner cat and sleep in a sunbeam

* Wendy checking him over first bc she knows hes one of the people who wouldnt ask for help if he was injured

* hes had multiple people physically remove him from fights/training sessions because he was visibly pushing himself way too hard

* Part of the reason Gray learned Fioren so fast was because he was sick of people looking at him like he was stupid for not speaking ‘right’

* he mentioned this to the little slayer group they got goin on and from then on out they were like, hella hyper vigilant with anything that could make him insecure like that again

* It really scared him the first couple times he did it, it still does. He hates losing time

* It started happening during his time with Ur, he cant remember a lot of it, training, blink, fighting, blink, training, blink, training, you get the idea

* It doesnt happen often, and he tried not to think of it past the point of trying to get it to stop

* Its happens often when hes highly stressed but theres no immediate physical threat, his brain doesnt understand whats going on or why its so stressed but knows he doesnt need to physically protect himself yet so it mentally protects him (if that makes sense), usually when hes alone, or when a threat is gone

* he confided in Erza about this once, and now more times than not when he ‘wakes up’ shes there talking to him

* only part he feels is good about it is that it makes him exhausted and lets him sleep easier

* He doesn’t usually dissociate often, not that he has much of a choice, if he did it wouldnt happen at all, but it was a lot worse when he was younger, his memories of early fairy tail are all blurry and he felt like he was on autopilot even when he was ‘awake’

* he hates it

* After his team found out abt his vast array of pharmaceuticals they were so confused and concerned and probably borderline paranoid, because who needs that many medications for one person??

* Gray had been taking sleeping pills at a high enough dose to let him have a dreamless sleep for so long that most over the counter brands dont actually work on him

* but he kept all the old bottle that didnt work just in case he got desperate to sleep and they suddenly magically worked again

* The caffeine tablets were self explanatory after seeing all the sleeping meds, but he also (unwillingly) admitted he takes them on missions so he wouldnt wake them if he had a nightmare, and also for days when they were especially bad so he could go long enough without sleep hed just crash and sleep with no issues. Canr have a nightmare if you dont sleep

* His team was also extremely unimpressed by these explanations

* Erza and Natsu (and also Happy) strong armed him into going to Porlyusica for actual helpful solutions since he refused to go to his actual doctor

* While Lucy and Wendy disposed of the full fucking pharmacy (seriously, he coulda started a business or smth) he had in his bedroom

* For some odd reason he felt lighter and less moody when he was on actual helpful medication and was getting genuine rest

* how strange

* and if his team checks his house for another pharmacy in the making thats nobodies business but theirs

* Also Erza tried to ban Gray from caffeine while on a quest , or at least limit it, but he looked at her like she was absolutely batshit crazy to the point she got embarrassed and had to retract the ban

* But she will tie him to the bed to make him sleep on quests if she has to

* The first time Lucy asked where Gray was from was before Galuna, he ended up giving her a shady answer and redirecting the question to her (reminder, before galuna, before phantom lord) which she ended up also being a bit cagey about so she let it go

* But Lucy is nosy (endearing) by nature, so she asked if he had any different holiday type traditions sometime after Galuna, and to the surprise of, well, literally everyone, he did and gave examples

* which lead down a rabbit hole of the guild fretting a bit abt how to make him comfortable (even though hed been with them for a decade) bc he mentioned he used to be really homesick the first couple years, and sometimes still is

* Most the guild still had no clue where he was from so they were really just running in circles for awhile

* Levy tried to figure it out from the time he accidentally dropped, what she assumed to be colorful curse words, random foreign language bits

* didnt really work but she tried

* so for months he was bombarded with ‘subtle’ questions about his hometown and its culture, which got shut down most the time

* Thats not to say he didnt give them anything, he gave them enough that they were incorporated into existing traditions and holidays they already celebrated

* it was a very sweet gesture that Gray absolutely did not tear up at, so shut up—

* Gray is the most touch starved fool on the planet. ive always loved the idea of him liking touch a lot

* He grew up in a pretty affectionate family, his parents were always around to ruffle his hair, or hug, or hold his hand, or carry him, they were just very physically affectionate and he enjoyed it

* With it made him nauseous, guilty really, because Ur and Lyon were also physically affectionate but it wasnt them, it wasnt his family

* Also it was plain uncomfortable at times, part of learning ice magic was to almost numb himself to cold, but in the beginning numbed him to everything and it became uncomfortable to be touched because it was tingly and it hurt

* Early Fairy Tail he was completely closed off, couldnt stand being touched, didnt want to get cozy and make friends because he planned to leave anyways.

* Ice mages (Fire mages also) temperatures can fluctuate depending on how they feel, for example, if they’re experiencing negative emotions their temperature and the space around them will get colder

* and Gray used to be so angry and upset all the time, and hed just beginning to learn magic so he didnt know how to fix it yet, which caused a lot of discomfort for people.

* People didnt stay around him long because the discomfort of being too cold, and what was he gonna do about it? ask them to come back?? hell no

* So he gained a reputation and people didnt want to disrespect a volatile childs apparent boundaries so they didnt question it

* He was fine with fighting being the only real prolonged touch hed get, totally

* But Natsus got this thing about him that makes him think he can do the impossible, which includes shaking Grays world view and comfort levels

* At some point in their teens Natsu would not let go of the alleged fact that Grays didnt like being touched for some reason, so he did what he does best and pressed the issue

* it ended with Gray being a puddle in his lap while he had a crisis about everything he thought he knew about himself while Natsu celebrated his victory against him

* Its not completely public knowledge but the guild most definitely knows at least a little about how much Gray is touch starved

* he doesnt openly welcome it with open arms but if its happening and he trusts the person hes not gonna say no

* he probably gets a euphoria high from a head pat or smth

* After getting his devil slayer magic is absolutely got worse, having two powerful ice magics, one of which he was still struggling to get the hang of, in one body made it difficult to control the temperature around him, and after long enough people would start shivering if he wasnt careful

* it sucked, totally and completely sucked

* Natsu still remained unbothered and would increase his own temperature to counterbalance Grays, which helped a lot

* he still gets all up in Grays space no matter how much Gray tell him to fuck off, he knows he needs it

Vesuvia Weekly: M6's Rare Smiles

Julian:

a peaceful smile. his face relaxes, the tension around his mouth smoothens, and the look in his eyes has a rare stillness, as though the anxious energy permeating his brain has finally found a moment of rest. it's a small smile. his lips are slightly parted, his blinks are slower and heavier, and the world stands still for a moment to breathe

Asra:

a vulnerable smile. their guard is down, the carefully maintained relaxed energy of their poker face disappears, and they become more expressive than you could have imagined. he meets your eyes with unimaginable levels of trust as emotions flicker across his face like pages turning, and responds to your safety with a wobbly grin

Nadia:

a grateful smile. still elegant, still dignified, but the cold edges of her regal bearing thaw just enough to let her eyes soften in your direction as she mouths a "thank you" after you've helped her. for someone who hates accepting help, she finds she enjoys depending on you more than she thought possible and loves to share that joy with you

Muriel:

a laughing smile. he does laugh more often with you around, but it's usually something pulled from him begrudgingly in the form of a brief snort. this is the smile of a belly laugh, his head tossed back and oh-so-briefly carefree, shoulders relaxing enough to shake with chortles as his eyes crinkle shut with laughter. it's a sight for you and you only

Portia:

a sad smile. for someone as comfortable with her emotions as she is, she doesn't like people seeing her sad unless she mixes it with anger, or jealousy, or concern. but you get to see the wobbly midnight smile, sent your way after she's gazed into the fireplace next to you and spoken about all the things she's missed with tears on her cheeks

Lucio:

a thoughtful smile. it's no secret that, for all of his smart instincts, he doesn't like spending any more time thinking than he has to. you, though - you make him want to think, about the future, about who he is, about what he's lost and gained, about fixing mistakes. never for more than five minutes, but the contemplative smile is beautiful

When MC wants M6 to tell them how do they cry

Asra:

- he cries with a pile of blankets, a cup of warm tea and something or someone to vent or to hug. After crying, he likes some sweet snacks to cheer him up.

Nadia:

- She also likes tea, and likes it sweet. Would go to sleep after crying to forget about it. Will talk to someone after wards.

Julian:

- He has dramatic cries, often finding someone, either Mazelinka or Portia, to vent to them. But if he finds nobody, he'll just go to the bar and cry there.

Portia:

- She often cries buckets when she does cry. She will like to cuddle with Pepi and go to sleep. Bakes a cake herself to cheer her up afterwards.

Muriel:

- He says he doesn't cry. But he actually does in secret. He just likes to huddle around blankets or Inanna when crying.

Lucio:

-Also dramatic crying. Will try to get sympathy from others but often succeeds. But after you arrived, he will go to you everytime he wants to cry and vent out his feelings.

Nightmare Realms

So originally, I was going to write a story about a nightmare held by one of the songbirds, but nothing ever seemed to work out quite right (may rework them and post them one day). But I really just wanted to get something out for @vesuviaweekly's Nightmare/Daydream prompt, so I am shortening this into a head cannon post because I have thought a lot about this since I was trying to write it. So, each of the Songbird’s has their own nightmare space which was partially formed by the Devil and partially by their own insecurities and trauma (and some magic). They each visited these places in the main story line, but I imagine when things get back the nightmares creep back in. Here is what imagine each of the realms to be like and the nightmares that inhabit there. Sorry if this is a little depressing but know that each of the Songbird overcomes it in the end.

Lark:

Lark’s insecurities often lie in the sadness that he tries to hide as well as being left alone so his nightmare is devoid of color. The room is entirely black and anything or anyone that enters often is stripped of their color and happiness. The one interesting thing about the room is that the floor is reflective, and a person’s reflection will show their true sorrows. For example, there was a moment where Muriel entered and his reflection showed him in his fighting armor. For Lark his reflection shows him with the plague sad and angry. Sometimes the reflections speak to the person, telling them it’s hopeless and to just give up. Spending long periods in the room and one will feel like actually giving up, to remain there sad and alone forever.

Sparrow:

Sparrow’s nightmare centers around her feeling of not being enough and wanting people in her life to stay with her. The place actually has changed a bit from before the plague where the original room was simply a room filled with fog that one could get seriously lost in. Sparrow would chase the ghost of her father into the mist, begging him to stay, but then end up getting lost. After the plague and meeting Julian, the scene changed to the one where Julian chooses to remain in the Acana realm rather than returning to life and Sparrow. The outcome is the same as Sparrow tries to chase after him but ends up getting lost in the mist. Like lark’s room there is an overwhelming voice trying to convince Sparrow that people don’t stay and that she should just give up.

Robin:

Robin’s nightmare is hardest to describe as Robin’s insecurities revolve around his missing past and his feelings of failure that he doesn’t understand. His nightmare takes place in the Lazaret as that is the time where everything from his former life collapsed. There no one else there just Robin who is confronted by the past that he doesn’t completely understand and the voice of everyone saying that it is his fault. He couldn’t save his mother nor protect his siblings, he couldn’t save Asra from the pain of breaking the connection between them and when things got so terrible he actually ran away to another world abandoning his home. Robin faces the consequences of his own past actions though it is hard to accept since some he had forgotten.

So that’s what’s been rolling around in my brain as of late. I am a little sad I couldn’t get it my ideas into writing, but it’s been nice to actually think about it a bit. Plus, I managed to get something out for @vesuviaweekly which I have been trying to get something together for.
